Authentic German beer and food.

Great place for a large cold beer and great German grub with a little sprinkling of Louisiana faire. Try the watermelon salad for a sweet and cool end to the yummy food. Only drawback was the heat but there was a large fan for inside tables. There is outdoor seating with a quaint country feel. Watch out for the large rooster who stands guard in the open yard. He's harmless but won't think twice about checking you if you step out of line 😉

A taste of Germany in the heart of Bywater. Good food, beer and wine. Nice biergarten, friendly staff. Would recommend for a laid back night out with friends.

This is a really cool place in the Bywater. The outdoor seating is filled with fans and picnic tables. There is also a bike rack inside the outdoor space which is really convenient for diners. As for the food— I tried the pork shank several weeks ago and I wasn’t too crazy about it. The meat was on the drier side and definitely over salted, but I would like to give it another shot. On my most recent visit I got the Nola schnitzel sandwich and warm potato salad. They were both tasty and fresh. I would definitely come here if you’re craving some German fare. UPDATE: I’m not changing my star review, but upon my most recent visit I left disappointed. I had the roasted pork shoulder with cold and hot potato salads as well as the egg noodles with gravy. While I continue to recommend the tangy and savory hot potato salad as well as the coleslaw. I will say the cold potato salad was runny and flavorless. In fact, I struggled to finish it. The egg noodles were hard/semi-soft/chewy with little flavor. I’m not really sure why this is on the menu as it was also difficult to finish. Both sides were disappointing. The pork shoulder was good, but nothing amazing. It was between dry and tender, leaving nothing to complaint about but nothing to brag about either. These are tell-tale signs of a slower business so I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt but after several visits I can’t continue to overlook it. Overall, this place is okay but its dim interior and less than enthusiastic staff along with its inconsistent food quality make it just okay. Expect a 4-6 rating out of 10 in your mind when coming here. In other words, you should come here because it’s the only option for German fare in the city and/or you’re in the area but with no expectation for culinary excellence.

I come from Berlin and was there today with my nephew. I have to say that I was very disappointed. It may be good by American standards, but I felt ripped off. This has nothing to do with German beer gardens

We went there today for my mother's birthday. We are German and wanted some different German food outside of what my Oma taught me how to cook. I will say the Oma's potato salad, potato dumpling, German beer, and red sangria was fabulous. Unfortunately, the sauerkraut was too sweet and pork shank was dry. We had to fight off a dozen of flies while eating. We also didn't care for the gravy. I was pretty disappointed for the amount of money I spent while leaving still hungry.

The food is fine. My only complaint is that they advertise on Instagram a happy hour 2-5, Tuesday - Friday, yet charged me full price at 4 pm on a Friday. The person working knew nothing about this, or even that they had an Instagram page.

We stumbled upon this place when we were just strolling the area, and we were very pleasantly surprised! The outdoor seating area is adorable and there’s even a play area for kids. The rooster was also a fun addition to the experience. The Bavarian was delicious, as well as the beer cheese pretzel. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice atmosphere. Decent choice of German beers that aren't easy to find everywhere else. But the schnitzel was clearly overcooked, and when we went it wasn't busy, so they should have just redone it. We will give them the benefit of the doubt and come back sometime to try something else. Also, if you have a bad back, note that most of the seats are backless, and many with backs are still uncomfortable.

It's sad to see any negative reviews. Most without much details, makes me wonder if some competitors are trying to torpedo them? Or maybe just unreasonable out-of-towners?? Whichever, don't you mind them! We really enjoy going to Bratz Yall and bring our out of town family and friends here all the time. Never had a bad experience. I want to specifically say that the Bavarian pretzel king cakes with Bavarian cream is the best Damn king cake in nola (spent the better part of 3 decades in our beloved city and have tasted them all). I picked up my 3rd of the season today - see photos. They don't last 2 days in my household. I literally dream about these king cakes all year and devour them when carnival season arrives. If you haven't had one yet, you must try one! Love this place!!!

German food was not what I expected from New Orleans. This place is Amazing! Good beer in a liter or half liter mug. Good music in the beirgarden. If you are here on a weekend, get the pork shank. It is big enough to share if you are willing, but it is good enough to keep eating every bit of slow roasted the deep fried deliciousnesss. They had a "sexy veggie sausage" my wife ordered that was shocking respectable in flavor and texture. If we are back in New Orleans, will head out to Bywater again for this spot.

The atmosphere of this place alone is five stars! You feel like you are in a German pub!! The counter service lady was unapproachable and unpleasant; her energy was distant. I checked this place out for their opening weekend and over the years it has turned into a nice spot to enjoy a German style beer garden. They have expanded the menu some to offer more interesting items and really do a nice menu during Oktoberfest time. I am disappointed they don't offer veal or venison schnitzel. They have some appetizer snacks like pretzels and such and usually have a small but decent dessert menu. Overall this is a good addition to the neighborhood but I still really hope they expand the schnitzel offerings and maybe keep some of the expanded Oktoberfest menu offerings as part of their full time menu. My video review of Bratz Y'all is here: https://youtu.be/1tlUNTnM7l4

The flavors of the food here was nice, but it would be nice to have a little flexibility in toppings. My sandwich came with a topping of crawfish remoulade slaw, which defeated the purpose of a pride cutlet, because it made the crust soggy. Also, my bread was very dry and hard, like it was either old or way over baked. Also, our pretzel was charred at the bottom, like it had been over baked. I think they would benefit from having a QR code you can scan to see a picture gallery of whatever you're ordering. The place is totally open to outside, so this is not the place to go on a hot day, unless you're unbothered by the heat. I would think that this place would be pretty awesome in the winter.

This is a hidden Gem amongst some warehouses. It's a great authentic German Biergarten! Prost! Of course, some of the best beer...enjoyed a few different types, but really liked the Dunkel. The food was amazing. Enjoyed the Schnitzel Chicken sandwich, so crispy and yummy. It was huge. Perfect for two gals. The Black forest Beer brat was a pork brat, with the best tasting sauerkraut on a pretzel bun. Lastly, the Nurnberger was amazing. Pork brat with carmalized onions and sauerkraut. Again...the sauerkraut tastes so much better (here) because its authentically made. Delicious! They also have great dipping sauces for the fries. Don't pass them up! Great service, Fun place to enjoy lunch outside in the Biergarten!
