Overall, this was not a bad place. The food was good but you didn't get very big portions. The waitress was nice but overwhelmed with too many tables. The food was overpriced for the portions you get. They could make a few tweaks and become a great place.

This is a nice little pub style place to grab a sandwich and a beer. Fun atmosphere and the service is pretty good! As locals, will be back again.

We ordered the Buffalo burger with Mac & cheese and it was rancid or something. It came out before I could get up and go to the bathroom after ordering. Then we ordered a beef burger which came out mysteriously quick as well, it was very thin but much better than the buffalo and we asked for a side of fries. Well the side of fries was $14.95, WTH. The waitress should have stated they don’t have a side of fries but a small basket was $15! Hope we don’t get sick from the bison.

Great place for food. The town closes so early and there are no restaurants that stay open late. This one did! Such good food and we took our order to go,but while we waited we had drinks at the bar. Our bartender was friendly and gave us some suggestions on where to visit:)

Got the buffalo burger .. started eating got almost to half and realized it was horrible..under cooked and didn't taste good at all and I didn't like the summer slaw.. I won't go there sgain

Food is so-so. Portions are smaller compared to last year. The reason we go here is because they have seating on the roof which is awesome because you have a view from up there and a breeze.

Food and atmosphere was solid. Price and size of margaritas was not. 14.50 for a margarita that was about the size of a small juice glass.

This is the best roast beef and mash potato's with gravy we've ever had. The beef was super tender but still had some firmness to it.

Food was not good. Don’t get the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Tough meat. Server wasn’t very friendly but sufficient. Tap beer was bad too. Go somewhere else.

We did not realize the town closed down earlier and therefore the restaurants also closed. My girlfriend and I got back from hiking around and were hungry. Bumpin Buffalo was working on closing down but Tiffany and the cook took care of us. The food was good and it was hugely appreciated. They did not have to go out of their way to do so. Recommend.

The history of the building is pretty impressive. On top of that, they really know how to serve up some delicious meat. Highly recommend the brisket!

We were in Hill City for one night to see MT. Rushmore. We decided to try the Bumpin Buffalo. Very busy when we arrived. We were sat on rooftop seating area. Only one server/bartender when we arrived, though extra help came. She was a little overwhelmed, but still did a very good job. Cool dive bar setting, really good food. We had a Southwest style salad, spicy chicken and pot roast sandwich covered with gravy. All very delicious. Highly recommend

We had a great time at the Bumpin Buffalo. What hospitality (and wonderfully, deep philosophical discussions about the athleticism of competitive eating)! Tiffany, we made it home to Colorado safely. Thanks for everything. We look forward to the time we meet again.

Food was ok and a bit pricey for what you got, burger and fries 17 00. Drinks are very expensive, 8.00 for a mixed drink.

We are a large family and the food was not what was expected according to the price, the service was delayed, I ordered a hamburger and it did not come with what it said, additionally when I asked for it the response was that they only put a small piece, and the service was not very good.

We were visiting and hungry after riding a side by side all day in the hills. Our camp host told us to check this place out. The tacos and the taco salad were both really yummy!

Have eaten here each year they've been open, never had a bad meal. Corn nuggets reccomended.

Nice place, but very slow service. The prices with respect to presentation and portions are exaggerated. They charge you 20% automatically for Gatuity and you expect that you tip more. I think we will not return to this place.

Staff was super nice and fast. Food was average, not worth the price. Most expensive place we ate at while staying in the hills. Definitely better options in the area.

The bathroom is very clean with a non-sticky floor and a comfortable climate. However, it is slightly tight on space, has only one sink and stall, and the stall door is a bit high. The dim lighting is another drawback. Despite these issues, the cleanliness and comfort make it a generally pleasant experience.

Facility- very esthetically pleasing. No longer carrying the beer that we enjoy. Like many other places, prices have increased and quality has decreased. Expect tourist prices. Regarding the price, we found the Nachos lacking something.  There is alot of competition here in town and I see us trying someplace else next time.   Staff friendly and eager to help. Good food. My buffalo burger was perfect. A friend’s, dry. Salads were good. Liked the draft beers. Excellent wait staff!

When we arrived, we asked for outdoor seating and hostess said it was closed because the high for the day was “only 65 degrees.” Seems like perfect weather to eat outside to me! They have a variety of beers on tap and I asked for a sample of one before ordering and the waitress said they don’t do that. Food was average.

A group of 8 were passing through and chose to stop…worst decision EVER! The food here is something I wouldn’t even feed my dog. I got the Mexican bowl and the meat was inedible. It was basically just rice and tortilla chips for $19 which was OUTRAGEOUS! It took forever for us to get our food and one person in our group had to wait for an additional 15 minutes to get an app she ordered. Slop, straight slop. Do not waste your time or money on this place.

Decent, but wasn't one of our top locations while we were in the Black hills. I had the brisket sandwich as a lettuce wrap as I am a Celiac, One person had the tacos, someone had a burger. While good, it wasn't exceptional.

The buffalo burger was really good but me and my husband’s fries were both cold when it came out which was disappointing. For the price I would have liked my whole meal hot. Could’ve used a refill too. I swear every sever looked at my empty cup right on the side of table and lots of opportunities for anyone to fill but no help from management or anyone. It was at the end of a rush so not busy.

Make sure to sit on the scenic rooftop. The brisket sandwich was delicious. Great flavors. Friendly and fast service. Reasonable prices

Good black hills bar and grill.

I am so glad we happened upon this restaurant! After a day of boating my family of 5 and 2 dogs were looking for a place to stop and eat. The upper patio was closed but they still accomadated us all inside. Wait staff was incredibly friendly and fun to talk with. Food was outstanding! Pretzels bites, Shrimp, Hot Roast beef plate, Mac n cheese and Brisket were just a few of our favorites! We would definitely come back 😊

I try to make it to Hill City once a year and I make a point to stop at the Bumpin Buffalo.

So glad we stopped in for dinner. By far, the best brisket sandwich I have ever had. The Mac n cheese was awesome as well. Our waitress was super friendly, personable, and attentive. Awesome atmosphere as well. We definitely will be back next time we are in the area.

Awesome place with awesome food. The brisket sandwich was great and smoky and I tried the rocky mountain oysters which weren't bad.

The hot beef dinner was flavorful and plentiful. The roast beef was tender. We probably should have split! The nachos were huge. The chili was nice and hot with a nice hint of spice. The service was very good. I would stop here again.

The burgers were terrible and reminded us of a cafeteria burger. We were looking for a good burger spot after hiking Black Elk Peak and this was not it.

Pretty good food. A little more attention to detail would help....but I understand it gets busy. Just please check the salads for being wilted by over refrigeration before bringing it out. Definitely fun atmosphere if in booth. Tables in center are way to small but work if it's crowded and you can not get a booth.

I’ve eaten here several times, and this hiking trip, I took my hubby. He loved it so much that we didn’t eat anywhere else. Nothing here disappoints for flavor! Delicious and filling! Our waitress was super nice, and even though they were busy, we felt like our food arrived in a timely manner. We will be back next season! I’m not sure why anyone would complain about the price. I didn’t find it unreasonable at all, especially for being in the Hills.

It's a hit or miss. Certain items on the menu like the buffalo burger are pretty boring. The hot beef combo or the brisket sandwich are both incredibly good. I would recommend reworking the menu a bit to get rid of surcharges. Extra for cheese, extra for sides, extra for dips, it leaves a bad last impression when you get the ticket. It's annoying to have to sit there and think about all the stuff that will cost extra and it makes the overall experience worse. A simple menu is good.

Beautiful antique bar gives it a very wild west atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Service was really great in this era of understaffed-ness and fast turn-over. Had the best french dip. So good.

Food was overpriced and not very good, just like every restaurant in the Black Hills. Atmosphere was nice and there are televisions at every booth. Might be nice to catch a football game with friends.

It’s a great place to grab a buffalo burger and an ice cold beer. Great service, our waitress was outstanding. I highly recommend this place. You can eat inside or outside patio.

The waitress was more interested in tying her apron than waiting on us. The chicken strips had way too much breading and were very salty. Everything was overcooked, and the potato salad was nothing great.

We were seated immediately. Booth had its own TV, which is unique. Waited several minutes for the server. Waited several minutes for our drinks. They were not that busy. We wanted salads, so we both ordered the taco salad. The food eventually arrived. Didn't come with what was advertised but we did not complain. It wasn't very good. Very little lettuce, with a strange taco seasoning flavor. Obviously not their specialty.

We were absolutely blown away by the home style cooking and quickness of this place!! Food was absolutely amazing and the staff was above and beyond polite and friendly. Definitely recommend!!

Literally the place where most multicultural coincidental meetings happen. Friends I met in Europe ran in to here to neighbor's I had in California saying hey you look familiar 🤷‍♂️ what in south dakota the bar has magical power's 🙃 bit seriously 😳 some crazy good stuff happens you make friend's and Literally you run into old friend's like you won't belive so there

The food was mediocre. The service was HORRIBLE. Slow, snarky, and rude. We witnessed the waitress berate a customer for not adding her change up correctly on her receipt. Avoid this place.

Burgers were good. Bison was good. Riblets were good too. The old fashioned with rye was very good. Thank you to the bar keep today. She did an outstanding job!

We went there due to the menu having buffalo steak, ribeye, and ribs we showed up at 6 and they were already out of all three. Ridiculous. Waitress said well we can't order too much because you never know how many people will show up. Those are dinner basics. It you advertise Meat have meat.

Take out order ready on-time. Food hot, prepared as requested and good portion size not too small not too big good tasting!

Friendly service. Wasn’t super impressed by the food. Brisket was overcooked and dry. Asked for a side of bbq sauce to help make it better. Didn’t find out til I looked at the check that I was paying $1.25 for a tiny plastic cup of bbq sauce that tasted like burnt tires. Ended up finishing my sandwich with ketchup.

Had a fantastic time when we were at this bar back in 2017, went in for drinks today and the atmosphere has changed. The bar area is so cool - an old beautiful wood bar. We had decently friendly service today but kind of weird to have the presumable manager yelling at her staff to “check the bathrooms” and “to take the trash out as they leave” across the bar. Would recommend the manager pulling staff aside and having that discussion not from opposite sides of the establishment. Bartender did not come back to check on us (while we were sitting at the bar) until we were finished with our drinks. Always find it weird when bartenders have AirPod(s) in their ear(s) while serving us.

First time here. Bumpin Buffalo Burger and fries were great. Friendly and good service. Nice selection of beers on tap. Great atmosphere. Definitely will return!!

Extremely disappointed to see they were CLOSED until May! How difficult is it to update a website!?

We had the chicken strips with fries and a side of Mac n cheese. The chicken was okay and the portions are generous! They could easily feed two people with one order. The fries were too greasy for us. The Mac n cheese was very blah, almost had a plastic texture.

A lot of the menu was blacked out but the few choices left were good! I took a star away only because I asked for my burger well done as I have sensory issues with food and my burger was medium at best. However the Mac and cheese is to die for! Cute little place!

Waitress was excellent and attentive, knew the specials and was kind and courteous. Chicken strips were excellent. Salad was more of a side for a full menu price, sweet potato fries were a little underdone, and chili (the special) wasn't great, very bland, more of a bean soup.

I think the pics speak for themselves. The tomato looks fresh! The bun was fridge cold. 1st time for me trying the "best Buffalo burger in the Hills". If I agree with them on THAT claim, then we're both wrong! Dry and overdone. Service not impressive at all. Had to get my own napkins. If you want to share a plate, plan to pay an additional $8 for that. That's right. They're getting ready to close for the season so don't expect much. NEVER a good sign when waitress tells you "yeah I've never had that from our menu". Lastly pray 🙏 for better brisket. If it's no good, chances are we won't be back.
