I enjoyed a huge crab cake sandwich at Bushwaller's for lunch after walking around dowtown Frederick. It was around 2pm on a Sunday so it wasn't super crowded, but it seems like it'd be a fun Irish bar to party at on a weekend night. I loved the bright colors and style of the exterior.

This was an amazing place to have brunch!! Sunday is relaxed there but I did arrive just after opening. Their corned beef is amazing but the true star for me was their Boxty. I also probably ate more of their fish and chips than my daughter did, but her serving was absolutely grown man sized and only $9. So I was happy and she had enough for her 😂 The soda bread is delicious. This is our closest and most delicious Irish restaurant.

Food was not good ... Beef stew had 1 piece of beef . Crab dip all cream cheese. Waitress was awesome

If you’re gonna get food, don’t get the fish and chips. Get the shepherds pie! The fish wasn’t crispy enough. The fries are OK. I prefer five guys. Maybe some of the other food was better. In Dublin, most of the bars that we went to had a decent selection of ciders. They had two. And one was a bottled angry orchard. The atmosphere was a little loud. The team was nice. We got our food quickly. For a bar, there’s only one bathroom per gender.

It was fun place. I was disappointed in crab dip. It only had a small amount of crab as top layer. The fish & chips were fabulous, as was the Irish stew.

We had a nice time as a group. Service was good.

Visiting from Minnesota. I had the Eastern Shore Wrap - Grilled chicken, house-made crab dip, lettuce, tomato, lemon aioli. WOW, now that's what I call one tasty wrap with the crab dip inside! A definite Maryland touch! It was nice and cool on a 87° humid day. Staff was pleasant too!

St. Patrick's Day and it's one cover band after the other. I don't celebrate Irish heritage with Jimi Hendrix, Train, and Jack Johnson. Come on Bushwallers! You're supposed to be an IRISH pub. Sad.

I had a Nitro Guinness, scotch eggs, and a Shepard's pie. Total came out to about $41.00 before the tip. The scotch eggs were tasty and the Shepard's pie was beautiful and delicious. If you are in Frederick and are in the mood for Irish food, I can recommend the Shepard's pie easily. Great atmosphere and food all for a reasonable price.

Crab Mac n cheese 🧀 Wow!! The fish and chips and cheese steak 🥩 awesome as well.

Good place to watch soccer, food is overall good, they have some English dishes which they generally nail....aside from the Scotch eggs that are just bad, not enough sausage and served nuked, Scotch eggs should be served cold, and not with french mustard. Sandwiches are great, this is above par pub food, staff are super nice, so 4.6 ish out of ten.

Absolutely ridiculous treatment of someone in my party by a bouncer. Kicked her out for touching his hat. He didn’t even tell her to not touch it. Not sure why he’s wearing a cowboy hat in Maryland anyways. So rude. Never coming back.

Food is always the reason I go back even though sometimes it feels like I get forgotten about after I get the food but that’s okay because I like enjoying the food with out a waiter/waitress constantly checking on the table (that might just be me). I did how ever order the CowTail mixed cocktail drink and it was over powered by the whiskey because there was not a proper ratio mixed probably wouldn’t order it again but over all the service and food are amazing and very friendly

I came for nourishment and a adult beverage and enjoy the band. I was refused entry with my service dog. On the board out front it says all dogs are welcome but apparently this only applies to day time hours is what i was told. This makes no sense however it is discrimantory and illegal my dog is a service animal she has more than one task and had to be trained speficially to aid me in my disabilities. It has been some time since i have visited my favorite irish pub but now i feel judged and discrimanted and was literally denied indoor access which is according to the ADA Illegal. And this really bothers me because i love this irish pub and now i dont ever want to come back and that makes me mad and sad. *Update Amber got in touch with me the following day she was professional and so caring. She took the time to discuss the miscommunications and educating staff. and thats really whats it is all about...customer service, being valued and then you find yourself going back again and again. The food is always fantastic but Bushwallers has a knack for finding good friendly caring staff and i cant wait to get back to enjoy some live music shepherds pie omg the crab pretzel ohhh and the Irish Blush is a very smooth adult beverage. Thank you Amber so much for caring cuz Bushwallers holds a special place in my heart!

Food was good size portions and tastes good too

Best corned beef in town. Also excellent burgers and wings. I can't eat gluten but everybody, for years, has raved about the fish and chips and it looks awesome. Been coming here for almost 3 decades. The staff has always been great, with literally one or maybe two unpleasant ones along the way but they don't last long. Turnover here is low. Frank and Amber make great martinis, and they, along with (almost) all the other current staff, make people feel welcomed and at home. And they handle the occasional rude / righteously indignant customer gracefully. I love this place, the food, and the dedication to and support of our town. Worth repeating: best corned beef in town.

I love this place. They are open super late and the atmosphere is awesome. I play darts any time I can and there is always someone there I know and can play with, if not multiple people. The bartenders are amazing. I go there often so they all know me by now, but when I first started going here, it didn't take more than 2 to 3 visits for each to not only remember my drink, but my name as well and use it when they give me my drink to give that extra little welcoming feeling. I have only been there once when the kitchen was open because i always go so late. I had the reuben, and it was awesome. The fries were good as well. I'vebeen told most of the food is good, I just get there early enough to eat most times. Please try this place for late night fun at the bar and maybe play some darts, you won't regret it.

Thanks to our gracious bar tender (apology for forgetting your name) we had the tastiest Mother’s Day Bloody Marys (one with tequilla). Great conversation, too. The place is really nice and his service was great. Although we didn’t eat, food going to dining tables looked appetizing…we’ll be back for food (and drinks). Thanks

I brought my wife and two friends here because the manager is a longtime friend whom I hadn't seen in almost ten years. Seeing him again was a treat, but what really surprised us is how good the food is! We had jalapeño poppers and Scotch eggs for appetizers, both of which were excellent. Then three of the four of us had fish and chips, which were far better than any I had had elsewhere, made with pangasius, a delicious fish from southeast Asia. The batter, with a light dusting of Old Bay, set off the sweet fish perfectly. For dessert we had bread pudding and ice cream: so nice. We came for my friend, but will now be coming back for the food, too. Well done. A perfect lunch!

First time here today after living in Frederick for almost 25 yrs. I know-- you would think I never get out, but I do!! Anyways, the vibe in there was really cool! Food was good!! Tried a Scotch Egg for the first time too! I got a Chicken Wrap with Crab Dip inside it!!! OMG Yum!! We also tried the Potato Skins and my daughter had the Corned Beef And Cabbage. All the employees are super chill. We will definitely be back!!

The place is quiet, the service is good, practically located in the local business center of town. Walking you reach a beautiful promenade, with restaurants too. They have parking nearby, paying but close. Recommended. OLD TOWN. MARYLAND, FREDERICK.

Started coming to Bushwallers 18 months ago. Within a few visits all the staff knew my name, my drinks and now my food. Very friendly and attentive. The food is always just as I order it and I have never sent anything back. Unlike several other places downtown. The customers are also friendly and helpful with first time visitors. The Irish pub atmosphere is very much the same as the old 70's neighborhood bar of our youth. Yet at the same it is a family friendly restaurant where the dart boards are open for the youngsters to enjoy also. Loaner darts are available, ask the servers. One of a few eateries with images of their menu on the website that can be downloaded in advance.

Tonight was our first visit to Bushwaller's and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the service was as 5 star as the food! Kat made us feel welcome right away, which is so critical to a great visit. Carter made me a fantastic pomegranate ginger beer that satisfied my craving for a fun drink, while still being able to drive home safely. We would love to see this place create an entire mocktail menu that satisfies the growing demand for fancy, non-alcoholic drinks. Carter would be an excellent resource to accomplish this! Either way, we'll be back! Thank you!

Delicious! I had the fish and chips, and understand the appellation as "Frederick's best." My wife had the shepherd's pie, served in a bread bowl, and it tasted amazing; the bread was fluffy inside while the outside was perfectly crisped. Generous portion sizes for both of us made it hard to finish our meals.

Stopped in on Saturday the day before St Patrick’s Day. Service was great for how busy it was. Thank you James and TC. The corned beef and cabbage was good. Great soda bread. The Siracha lime chicken was good too. The crab and corn chowder was great!

This review is long overdue and although they were very crowded, we decided to stop into Bushwaller's during the Fire in Ice festival after seeing a post about this drink, the Old Man Winter! It was sooooo good!!! BUT, even better was the service that we got from McKinley (sp?) and Amber. Despite the wait for tables and service, these two were HUSTLING to meet all of their customers needs making our experience extremely satisfying!! We have been back since with exemplary service but this day still stands out!!

Have enjoyed the food every time I've gone! Good night scene with live music, trivia, and karaoke.

The first thing worth mentioning is the service. Both servers worked as a team while almost every table was sat. They were fast and super friendly. The vibe is what I want from an Irish pub with darts. It’s a hint of dive but still cozy, clean, and welcoming for a family. The food is where I struggle. Everything is very well portioned, quickly served FRESH, and beautifully presented. It’s just that the seasoning felt lacking on every dish. The calamari and fish and chips were perfectly crisp and lightly battered. On point. But it took lots of salt and sauces to get the flavor. Even the fries needed salt. But the seafood was clearly fresh and cooked flawlessly. The corned beef and cabbage says it’s served in a broth, but they should really just call it a stew or soup. It also lacked some salt or seasoning even with generous amounts of corned beef. I will say the reviews are right and the soda bread is very satisfying and great to dip. Overall, I would definitely try it again next time we’re in Frederick to taste some more delicious looking plates.

Beware. This place does not accept Maryland Mobile ID on your iPhone. Update- The Maryland Mobile ID on the iPhone is more secure than the ID card. How many countless fake ID’s have entered your establishment over the years? Wouldn’t you want to ensure that you are only allowing legit people of age in?

I've visited this place once before when a stranger inexplicably attacked me. She falsely accused me, and despite being the victim, I was thrown out by the security guard in the middle of the night, in freezing weather, without a chance to retrieve my coat and bag. Today, I returned with my husband, but they refused to accept my valid Maryland mobile ID driver's license. Despite showing it was a legitimate MD state license, they unreasonably denied entry. It was truly a disappointing experience.

We ordered for delivery for the first time this week and the food was some of the best Irish food we have ever had!! The Shepherds pie was a 10 and the spicy bag was so delicious. The Rachael turkey and Swiss with coleslaw was perfection!!! All food arrived wrapped well and hot! Do not miss going here!!!!!

Best dang Irish food I've ever had in a while. Went twice in 2 months and can't believe I've never been there before, I'm slacking! Beef stew, chicken pot pie, reuben, onion crock, and sweet potato black bean burger were tried between myself and my family. All were exceptional. You can really taste the Guinness in the onion crock and beef stew, which we liked. My wife is vegetarian, so she loves the sweet potato black bean burger and the sauce that's on it... it is definitely homemade and not a frozen patty. All the food tastes so fresh and authentic. The waiters were nice, tried to make one waiter laugh and smile by saying some jokes.. he finally cracked.

One of our go-to places on Market Street in Frederick. Bushies, as we call it, has been around forever and always has a friendly vibe. Darts and love music. Excellent bar. Great burgers and the fish and chips is DA BOMB.

I always get Bushwaller’s Fish & Chips! The menu says it’s the Best in Frederick—they are wrong! It is the Best in the World! I love the tempura-type breading. The fish is not cod, but it is fantastic, very mild. And the tartar sauce is great-I always ask for two.

Bushwaller’s is a local gem! This is our go-to place after my son’s lacrosse games - he loves throwing darts with me, and our family really enjoys the food and drink. Favorites include shepherds pie, Irish onion crock, wings, burgers, etc. Also, their selection on tap and signature cocktails are amazing.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the lunch I had there today. All the food I had was very good and the quantity seemed pretty decent. Everyone else's lunch looked very good as well, and everyone also enjoyed their lunch. The one common theme though, was the tap water. It is by far the worst tap water I've ever experienced in a restaurant ever, and I think everyone at the table agreed. It had some sort of off taste to it which we could not identify. Service was great and apart from forcing you to use a QR code for menus, and the water, it was a good experience and I would return.

Was there on trivia night without planning. Lots of regulars. Had the crab pretzel and the Irish BLT. Will have again. The pumpkin bread pudding was a nice finish, not overpowered.

Was there for a wedding after party. It's a bar. Card to get in, but they had live music and an uppity atmosphere. Loud and cheerful.

Bushwallers is a fun place with great people and good service. It's more of a bar then restaurant but the food is really good. But they have karaoke, trivia, sports games, darts, live bands. And they are open til 1:30 each night.

Fun pub atmosphere and great place to hear local music. It gets busy, but the servers do their best to get everyone a cold beverage quickly. Never had the food, maybe next time.

We went at a slow time so everything was fresh, there was a little too much sauce in my wrap it was my fault I should have asked it on the side...otherwise waitress was great and food was fresh and I did not know there was a $3 charge to sub side salad instead of fries so just be careful with that.

Great music and atmosphere but the bartenders are rude, especially so Lora, had an attitude every time I wanted to order something. Before even talking to her was I completely ignored while trying to get bartenders attention for at least 3-5 minutes. You guys definitely need better staff and more as well can’t have just 2 bartenders with tons of coming and going customers.

Terrible customer service, you can barely hear yourself think due to how loud the music is. I yelled to grab the bartenders attention, after we were trying to grab her attention for more than 4 to 5 minutes. She snapped at me, said she was doing stuff. I don't know if she had a bad day or if she's just like that. But that and other minor things that happened over the course of the evening leads me to believe that it's not great, not even good on customer service to anyone who isn't a regular. Some of her fellow coworkers tried to mediate the situation, but ultimately that isn't a situation that should've happened in a loud bar.

I give 3stars because despite our earlier experience with a nasty male-tender, the ending of our night went well. There is a bald or balding male bartender, he worked Saturday evening, early to close. My guess is he is in his late 40s/early 50s. He had a black eye (no wonder). I told him I would pay as I go, he suggested a tab since there was a group of us (no prob). Sometimes my card swiper doesn't always work well. I asked him to tap or insert. He loudly and with a nasty tone says "it doesn't work that way!" I reminded him I can pay cash. I asked for a particular beer which they didn't have so I asked what they do have in bottle or can...so he knew I preferred bottle or can. He wdn't tell me and refers me to a scan bar ...they were NOT busy yet, as it was still during the day and lots of seats available. It's not what you say but how you say it Pal is what I was thinking. I proceeded to ask for what ever domestic they had, he returns with a DRAFT. I was almost afraid to remind him I wanted bottle or can. We were not a rude bunch. We had 4 beers and tipped him a $5. On our first round. I didn't even drink but a few sips all because I'm not a draft fan. We left but returned later for live music, but we peeked in first to make sure other Servers were available.

Saturday 6-24-23 I had a bad experience with the bar tender (he had a black eye). I ordered a few drinks at the bar. While I was waiting for my change, I was digging in my purse for some tip money. The bar tender throws my change at me on the bar. The change was only fifty cents that's why I was looking for more money to tip him. He threw it so hard one quarter landed on the floor. I looked up at him and told him he didn't need to throw it at me and he asked me if I wanted to leave (because he was going to kick me out). I said it again and he said that I could leave. I looked at him and called him a name and walked away. As I was walking away, he picked the other quarter up and threw it at me and hit me in my back (that's assault). I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my life. I'm thinking that's probably why he has a black eye, because of the way he treats his customers. Other than that, the beer was cold, and the other servers were great!

One of the better fish and chips I have had recently. Server was on his game. Appetizers were a hit. "It looks like the place from Universal Studios". Clamari was good. Popers could use some raspberry jelly. Nacho Fries need something like habeneros to spice it up. All the flat surfaces make it a little loud. But not objectionable. Would definitely go again.

Karaeoke Tuesdays and Wing Wednesdays are my favorite. Lots of fun characters frequent. Catch my buddy Patrick on Tuesdays, he loves Eagles songs and appreciates back up vocals for the harmony!
