THIS IS TO THE MANAGEMENT OF CADOT: Came here for my birthday. A waiter named Benjamin made a racist comment as I was ordering to remind me that “this is a french restaurant, not a Chinese restaurant, so the food isn’t going to come out all at once like you’re used to. (I am NOT chinese nor did I ever indicate that I was expecting a family style meal). He also refused to apologize.

Celebrating our 52nd anniversary, Saturday evening,an early reservation. Our server, Riu, was attentive and accommodating, we would recommend requesting him as your server. Born in Portugal, he spent time in several countries and he and his wife owned and operated a restaurant in Luxembourg for many years before moving to the US. Very interesting life. Susan enjoyed her shrimp and scallop linguine and I thought the flat iron steak with green peppercorn cream sauce and pomme frites was perfectly prepared at medium rare. The portion was ample and beautifully plated. We opted for dessert over appetizers. Susan ordered the chocolate souffle and I had the lava cake and both were outstanding. We live about two hours away, but we will definitely dine here again.

This is the very best North Dallas neighborhood French family restaurant/bistro. The food is always top tier, prepared fresh and perfect. There are monthly offerings that vary with the seasons that are always a delight. The prices are very fair, so much better value than you would see in most of the fancier French restaurants towards downtown. And, the service, by an established and seasoned regular crew of waitstaff, is the nicest and best around!

I had my best birthday dinner here. We ordered Goat cheese salad for appetizer, sea-bass, and lamb for entree. All foods we ordered had perfectly balanced taste and texture. Food presentation was so colorful and pretty. Wine we ordered was Alexander Valley Chardonnay. I loved its slight carbonated touch. It went well with sea bass and lamb of course. We ordered chocolate lava (Fondant au chocolat) for dessert and it was perfectly cooked with proper sweet and bitter. Lastly I appreciate birthday surprise creme brûlée. It was my best creme brulee I’ve ever had. Will definitely revisit :)

I enjoy people who love their jobs. It was clear the wait staff enjoyed their jobs and took pride in the quality cuisine the chef creates. You walk in and it immediately feels like a long-standing establishment. Most customers seemed like regulars as the chef made the rounds chatting. It was maybe a little over priced but still solid. This place had a wore out look, when we entered on Christmas Eve. Once it was probably a nice restaurant but it has seen better days. The food was horrendous. My wife and I ordered the chicken Marsala. The taste was like it had been cooked all day. Nothing fresh about it. My wife took a few bites and couldn’t finish it. The same with me but I had a few more bites before I quit. My daughter had the sea bass and she told me it tasted very fishy. I advised her not to eat it. My son n law could not eat his either. My wife refused to let me talk with the waiter since it was Christmas Eve. The bill was $169. I also left tip, in the spirit of Christmas. I will never understand how these places stay in business. Whataburger would have been a better choice.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. Our server barely spoke 20 words to us the entire time we were there. Drinks weren’t rung in, he would never come to check on us, and the atmosphere was god awful. It resembles a retirement home cafeteria. The food left a lot to be desired. My wife got the filet which had an old taste. Not aged, but more like it sat in the fridge a couple days too long. It was one of the worst filets I’ve tasted. The lamb was very tough. At the price point I was very disappointed. It was about $200 for 2 people and immediately after I was ready for a slice of pizza or a burger as this would have been much better and way less expensive. It was one of the few time my wife and I were kid free and could get out for a date and sadly I wasted it on this place.

We love French food and this was our first French Dining experience since relocating to the Dallas Metroplex. The food was great. Walt, our server was excellent and so very friendly, polite and attentive. Very good bread to start. Appetizers were good. (Crabcake and Foie Gras.) Butternut squash soup was decent. Our entrees were good "clean" food that was not overly sauced or seasoned. Very fresh and great food quality. We had the Dover Sole and Veal. We recommend both. Save room for the Souffle for desert. One of the best souffles we have tried! That was definitely the highlight. Only recommendations would be that the restaurant could use new flooring to refresh the ambience and the hostess stand as well. But those were not detractors at all from the dining experience.

MORE AT OpenTable

We picked this place because of the reviews and it's proximity to where we were staying in Dallas. When we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. The ambience reminded us if a caricature of a French restaurant and we could hear the strains of an accordion playing somewhere. But don't get me wrong - the tables were set beautifully with white linen and sparkling glass and silverware. Our waiter Ramon brought water right away and asked if we were ready to order drinks. This is where it gets interesting. I ordered a Manhattan, my wife a Paloma and our friend an O'Doul's. Ramon went away and we were brought lovely bread and butter. Ramon returned and confirmed my wife's Paloma and the O'Doul's and asked me again what I had ordered. He came back soon with the Paloma and a tall glass for the beer. No Manhattan. A few minutes later he arrived with the O'Doul's and proceeded to pour it for our friend. Down the side of the glass and onto the table, that is. He just poured a little and then set the bottle down. We just kind of looked at each other like were in a Monty Python sketch. He returned a few minutes later with the Manhattan, which was superb. We had also ordered escargots bourguignon with butter and garlic sauce as well as the warm goat cheese salad with mixed greens, prosciutto, pine nuts, and asparagus with a balsamic vinaigrette. While we were waiting the accordion player swirled around the room playing both at tables and spaces in between. We decided his name was Pierre. The somewhat surreal nature of the experience was getting to us and we were laughing a lot. "Pierre" is an accomplished player, but sometimes it's a bit loud in the small room. The appetizers arrived and we dug in. The escargots were cooked perfectly and beautifully garlicky. The salad, however, is a rock star! The proportions couldn't have been better, the dressing was very well-balanced, and the toasty ball of goat cheese was gooey and warm all the way through. Just amazing. For our entrees my wife ordered the Flat iron steak with frites, our friend the risotto with scallops, shrimp and salmon, and for myself the scallop and shrimp linguine with mushrooms, spinach and champagne sauce. Ramon asked if we wanted anything else to drink and I said we would like 2 glasses of the St. Emilion with the food. Ramon said that would be fine and to remind him of that when the food came (?). And the accordion played on. The appetizer plates and silverware were cleared and then the entrees arrived via another server - very good. We were still laughing at the overall experience and having quite a good time. The we dug into our entrees. Oh, my. Everything was absolutely spot on and wonderful. My linguine dish was perfectly cooked and proportioned, with the scallops melting in your mouth and the shrimp with a perfect texture. the steak frites (medium rare) was outstanding and the frites were crispy, and the risotto was beautiful. And everything was piping hot, which not everyone gets right. The wine was deliver in 2 small carafes and poured into our glasses without hitting the table, and was very good. About this time we decided that we wanted a soufflé for dessert so we ordered the Grand Marnier version. Ramon took the order and confirmed that we wanted chocolate. No, we said, Grand Marnier. We also ordered crème Brule to share between the 3 of us. The soufflé arrived. It was just beautiful. Fluffed up high and light, the server cracked the top with a fork and we poured warm cream into it. Wow! This is probably in the top 3 desserts I have ever had, and that's a lot of desserts. The crème brulee was perfect as well. Overall this is a wonderful place with remarkably excellent food. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again and again, and heartily encourage everyone to do so. Say "hi" to Ramon and Pierre for us. They were fabulous.

NEVER RETURNING! The food is above average but not stellar. Service is lousy. The 3 tables of regulars around us all explained that you have to know who to request as a waiter or you will be ignored like we were. It was so bad, after 20 minutes waiting for a premium glass of wine, I went to the bar and got it myself. Bartender said "I wondered who that was for". She poured it when I ordered and it just sat there. This happened all night. Our waiter was a ghost while the other tables were treated like royalty. Normally I tip 15-50%. This time I gave a pity tip of maybe 5% on $180 tab. The restaurant retaliated by telling OpenTable we were a no-show so I couldn't write this review. I got a nasty-gram from OpenTable reminding me to honor my reservations. Still no points given for this lousy experience but now you can read the truth about Cadot.
