4-1/2 ☆ Food is absolutely amazing! We ordered the 'Cuban Cigar' appetizer, wraps, and two cups of the cheddar cheese soup of the day to go. We were informed the appetizer was no longer available, so had our soup there. Overheard our server telling another table the soup of the day was tomato. Wondering if they only make a few of certain dishes per day, maybe? In any case, we enjoyed our meal. The tables are small and very close to other tables.

Delicious food and the garden was beautiful.

Food and atmosphere is good, however if you have plans you will for sure have a long wait to be seated and receive your order so plan accordingly. Called for reservations and left a message as their reservation policy said, received the call back 4 days later. So maybe plan 5 days in advance? Tried to go there and waited 35 min to be seated and there were multiple tables available and multiple people waiting. Overheard servers talking about a table waiting over an hour for their order and still not received it. Decided to leave at 40 min mark of waiting. Just seems unorganized getting guests served and in and out. Have eaten there in the past and food was great however it’s a little unorganized.

Me and my partner (whom is here visiting on vacation from the military), came to enjoy lunch at Arazu. We sat on the balcony.. they have fans to help flies stay away from food. The waitress gave the 4 tables around us a fan and for 20 minutes acted as if we were invisible. We weren’t offered waters, a menu, nothing. I’m not sure if this is because we were two gay women or why we were treated so differently but needless to say we got up and took our business down the road.

Pros: food was fine Con: we waited nearly an hour and a half for our food. Our waitress mentioned a printer problem, however the table next to us (4 top) ordered at the same time as us and they had gotten their appetizer, and food AND had eaten their whole meal and left before we had even been told about the printer problem. Then made a joke about how we will eventually get our food, and we could have their scraps. Asked manager for discount on food, and they said “well it took the right amount of time because it’s a scratch kitchen.” And offered us a free desert. I’m not normally one to make reviews however I feel this was just unfair. Otherwise like I mentioned the food was fine

My sisters and I visited Newburg for our annual sister trip together and ate here everyday. There is a varied menu, the food is delicious and the service is outstanding. The outside dining with the view is just the perfect addition to our dining experience. Thank you for taking such great care of us!

Food was good and inexpensive. Got sick after eating. Was also very crammed too many people for such a small space. Was so close next to the people next to us all I heard was them chewing.

Quaint and cozy indoor/outdoor dining. Great food without breaking the bank. You'll actually have enough to get dessert.

Loved everything about this place. Super high quality food, amazing venue inside and out. It's unique that it can be classy with a nice bar yet also family friendly. Fast service which was a bonus since the food was so amazing!

We had a reservation. The venue is small, so I would recommend it even at lunch. Everything is good. By everything, I mean everything. I had the falafel pita with slaw (the shaved almonds put it over the top), my cousins had curry chicken and the panko shrimp salad. It was fabulous. We kept saying we'll eat here again. The desserts are very good, so save room. The deck outside was nice. You can't go wrong here. My compliments to the chef!

Honestly, I stopped here for lunch today. It was 80 degrees, but we were seated on a shaded veranda overlooking the river and it was so comfortable. The good, for lunch, was both delicious and abundant! I've rarely had to ask for a box with lunch portions, but I did here. Service was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable about the dishes, which is all I could ask It is mid range (not inexpensive) price but it is absolutely worth it. Great place for lunch and I'm sure dinner is even better.

Absolutely fabulous. My daughter’s food was the best. I have a nightshade allergy, which makes eating at places like this problematic. The Manager and chef personally came to my table to make sure I was accommodated. Can’t say enough for about the service, food and atmosphere

Please make sure you make this a stop while you're in Newburgh, you won't regret it. And ask for Madison, she was our server and honestly, one of the best servers I've ever had.

It's been over a year since I've eaten here, and met a friend for lunch around 12:15 this month. I ordered my favorite, Chicken, Spinach and Artichoke Wrap. This is grilled chicken, tomatoes and feta, wrapped in a creamy spinach artichoke cheese sauce in grilled lavash. I'm not big on wraps but the lavash is so tender. I paid extra for a side of Red Cabbage and Napa Slaw. Everything was perfect - even better then the last time I was there. We sat out back on the screened porch which was pleasant, but as my last several visits, the service is slow. However, we had a wonderful visit while waiting for our food. Just be aware that you need to allow for plenty of time. Other than that, this is a great place to dine and I'll be back.

I've never had a bad experience going here. It's such a treat when I get to go. When it's nice out the patio or outdoor dining is just lovely.

Food is good. Ambience is good. But The place is quite small. So many people waiting, standing around. Can’t reserve the table. Just have to walk in. We have 6people in a group, have to cram into small table. I think They forget to cook my plate, while everyone else in my group all had theirs for a while and were ready to eat. And had to wait for mine. The Lady (may be manager?) came to apologize for the delay (which is nice ). However, it is mandatory to tip at least 18%. (Which i think its too much considering the service we get, they should have waived the tip as an apology)

Delightful eatery in downtown Newburgh, IN. Food is not the usual slant on things but an interesting slant (e.g. Chicken curry salad on a croissant, "Cuban cigars" which are fabulous egg roll type appetizers). Something for every palate. And excellent iced teas! For dessert, you MUST try the blueberry lemon cake!

My wife and I went to Cafe Arazu on a Tuesday evening for dinner. It's a nice little restaurant in downtown Newburgh with a riverfront view from some of the tables. It also offers outside seating with a good view of the river. We had made a reservation because it's not a very big restaurant and in the past I could not get a table on a Friday or Saturday night. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and shown to our table. The waitress was very kind and helpful. Our waitress suggested a dish called a taste of Arazu sampler. It is only available on Tuesdays. It was fantastic! It included lamb chops, beef kabob, chicken kabob, and a dish called butter chicken. Also roasted tomatoes and two types of rice. We were told it was enough for two people and it was. For those with big appetites then an appetizer might also be needed. For dessert we had a lemon cream cake with fruit. Very yummy. We very much enjoyed this restaurant and it's food. We were pleasantly surprised that it didn't cost any more to eat there then at a local buffet. The parking lot is behind the restaurant which is closer to the river and does require walking up steps. There were a few closer parking spots near street level which do not require more than one or two steps. If you are not in a hurry then a stroll along the riverfront is in order before or after dinner.

I have been a regular customer for a long while. Unfortunately, my last visit was nothing short of a disappointment. A salad and a grilled chicken sandwich was ordered for lunch. Here’s the rub - me and the other member of my party sat and waited for over an hour for our meal. Everyone else who came in way after all around us had received their appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc. and they finished eating and were beginning to clear out. Still no food. Still no answers from our waiter. Our waiter seemed just as confused, and came by every so often for drink refills. We waited for nearly an hour and a half at that point. It’s great that everyone else got served, but I suppose we just weren’t important enough to receive our meals. After the problem had been addressed by the waiter…a few times - crickets. The order should’ve been pushed to the front of the line with the meal or dessert comped for the inconvenience. The manager did NOT stop by the table to apologize with a promise to get the order fulfilled. There was nothing. To reiterate: a salad and a grilled chicken sandwich was ordered for lunch. It doesn’t take an hour and a half to complete that order. And saying - ‘we’re really busy’ isn’t a satisfactory excuse. It should’ve been handled so much better, but it wasn’t. This experience has soured my perspective on this establishment and I have no interest in spending anymore time/money here. I immediately went elsewhere for lunch. I went to a well known restaurant in Huntingburg where I was waited on and received amazing service. They were extremely busy, but I received my steak AND dessert very promptly. This particular restaurant should be a standard for all restaurants to follow in regard to food quality AND service. I don’t see myself returning to Café Arazu after this terrible experience. I really don’t. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I would always tip very well here. It’s evident that there was no care, especially to a regular weekly customer. In summary, I’m tickled everyone else around us got their food. Good for them. They got taken care of. We were disregarded. We were further asked to ‘return back later’ but both lunch and dinner were served by two different restaurants, each delivering a 5/5 on service AND quality. ✌🏽

Grady and I had a great eclipse party with the Cafe Arazu family this week!

Visiting the area so we went to Google for guidance for dinner. Cafe Arazu came up with good reviews. Busy when we arrived so we ate the bar. Staff and fellow customers were so friendly and welcoming. I asked for a cocktail menu and was told they were in transition so not everything was available. I really appreciated the upfront honesty. Drinks we ordered, White Russian and Old Fashion, were delicious. Started with the spinach artichoke dip, yummy. Entreees were the salmon and a steak. Good size servings and very tasty. If I had one suggestion it would be to reset some of the bricks of the walkway up from the river side. Things were a bit uneven and I felt a bit hazardous. I understand the history and age of the building, that character was what really impressed me, but safety should also be considered.

Great atmosphere. Server was attentive and kind. Will be back!

The service and staff are top-notch as always. We always receive a warm-welcome upon arrival. I had the Lamb Kebabs, though they were really more like lamb-chops since they were on the bone instead of on a skewer. They and the vegetables were delicious, however!

The food was very fresh, and tasty. Service was quick. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It's a small intimate setting, not over crowded and loud. The music was mellow, and soothing. Overall a great experience, I would definitely go again.

We came for a late Saturday lunch, they were very busy but we were seated within 10 minutes. We chose to sit outside with a heater. The sun was warm and the heater warmed us nicely. Ken is a delightful server; beautiful smile, funny, non-intrusive, accurate. We ordered Chardonnay, first an open half bottle was sent to our table but Ken noticed and fixed the issue. The humus plate was nice; feta & spinach, garlic humus, red pepper humus served with pita points, celery, red pepper, cucumber and carrot sticks topped with onion, parsley and tomato. My lunch companion had a steak and potato salad, steak cooked to order - rare. I had a blackened salmon salad. Both were good. We had chocolate raspberry cheesecake and lemon blueberry cake; both were good. No pictures this time, we just enjoyed the sunshine and camaraderie of the other guests who also braved the cool air with the warming heaters, sunshine and a beautiful view of the river. My only issue was the bathroom door is very hard to lock and the room is hard to access.

The food is excellent but the service is spotty. I want to support them but they do not answer the phone when calling in to place an order. This is not the first time I have experienced this, and instead has now come to be expected. I called seven times to try to place my order, and the phone was never answered. I understand they are likely busy but they are losing money by not picking up the phone. Again, the food is excellent, when you can get it. However, there is a 50/50 chance you will be able to place a carryout order.

Bruschetta && gyros were incredible, as well as the lentil soup!! Also amazed by the freshness && presentation of the meal! The real reason for me leaving this review, however, is to say that our server Ken is a 10/10 human being; he made our experience absolutely outstanding

Cafe Arazu is one of my favorite places in the world to eat. I have so many good memories of meals shared there with family and friends over the years. When the weather is nice, I love sitting outside and enjoying the breeze and a glass of iced tea. My favorite dinner is the Mustard Crusted Salmon with carrot cumin rice. My favorite lunch is probably just a soup and salad with bruschetta or hummus to share as an appetizer, but the spinach artichoke wrap with Greek potatoes is a close second. The tomato bisque warms your whole soul in that first bite. The mulligatawny, too. I’ve heard the meat dishes are amazing, but besides the salmon, I’ve never tried them. This is one of those restaurants that it is absolutely unacceptable to leave without a dessert. You’d be crazy. Lemon blueberry cake and the infamous carrot cake are my personal favorites, but they’re all good. There’s a reason they start the day with extra carrot cake servings in the fridge and almost never end with any. If you’ve had it, you know. If you haven’t, don’t miss it.

Sooo good. Everything always hits. Those dang potatoes and chicken shawarma. Been several times for lunch, work dinners, and with Hubs. Great for every occasion.

We had a wonderful little birthday dinner for our mom last night at Café Arau. It was delicious the food was fabulous. There's great restaurants everywhere and this is one of them. I've never had a bad meal and I've tried just about everything and if you have room afterwards that the desserts are unbelievable. Uncle Bob and aunt Jalene love their newburgher soup, and so did I The beef medallions were mouthwatering wonderful The grilled salmon taste like it just came out of the ocean onto the plate fresh wonderful

where do i begin! my friends and i met for dinner, and we were so pleased to have picked Arazu as our spot. first off, the atmosphere is welcoming and so visually pleasing. when seated were were immediately greeted by our server Ken, who was so personable, polite and brought all the right Kenergy to the table. all of his recommendations surpassed our expectations. we started off with delicious cocktails and appetizers, i got the tandoori butter chicken as my entree, and we all shared the lemon berry marscapone for dessert. looking forward to visiting here more and sharing laughs and delicious food with great company

If this is my only google review, let this be it. Not sure if it was the Gryos or Ken that inspired me. More than likely the perfect marriage of the two. From the widely sought after Cuban Rolls to the humble and mighty new salad, everything was amazing as usual. The real spotlight was with our well meaning weirdo ken. If you know, you know. Having ken as our waiter was like hanging out with your coolest friend. Such a treat! Will be back for the kickass food and #kenergy.

Very unique find! It came highly recommended by one of the locals so I was excited to check it out. It definitely met my expectations. The ambiance is warm and cozy, nicely decorated! Superb customer service! Everyone working had a spunk and a smile. The cocktails were amazing! Well executed, with balance of alcohol and taste, plus presentation. The food was so delicious! I ordered the gyro sandwich meal, which was an excellent portion size. The meat had an enormous flavor and was very tender. I also enjoyed the seasonal rice. Everything was delicious. Plus the carrot cake was yummy! I would highly recommend!!!

A bit pricey but very filling and good

This was a great find, recommended by the folks at the mercantile just up the road. The service and food were outstanding. We loved the landscaping and little touches which made the ambiance perfect. Sitting outside, you have a beautiful view of the Ohio river.

My boyfriend took me on a date here this evening and we sat in the outdoor seating with Ken as our waiter. It was both of our first times eating here and it was D-E-licious. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in months. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was incredible. Ken was very attentive to our needs and he was a great conversationalist. There was NO wait on a Friday evening and our food got to us so fast! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! Thank you, Ken!

Awesome atmosphere ! The staff, wine selection and food was amazing! I usually get the salmon but I ordered the chicken kabobs and they didn’t disappoint.

We are so lucky in Newburgh to have such a wonderful restaurant. The river views are beautiful and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the mustard crusted salmon. Great service, fantastic food and wonderful ambiance.

My fiancé and I came to celebrate the proposal as I had proposed right before coming. I was very disappointed with our experience here. Food was pretty good but the service was upsetting. We received our meal without any silverware and our server had not been around in a while so I had to go inside to ask for silver only for them to bring it a couple minutes later. I also ate my steak with a butter knife as I never received a steak knife after checking. We also never were asked about refills on our beverages and had to ask which is not that big of a deal but it just showed the lack of attention to our table even more…

For years I had heard of how good Cafe Arazu is and finally tonight I got to see first hand. It was a warm night out but we opted to sit on the patio outside under the umbrellas and it was simply wonderful. The menu is filled with choices that cannot be found anywhere in this area and it is all home made including the salad dressings. Prices are medium and portions are decent. I chose the house salad as a started and what a salad, slivers of apple, cheddar cheese, fresh cut lettuce , juicy raisins and a delicious mustard apple vinaigrette dressing full of flavor. My dinner partner had the black and blue salad minus the blue cheese crumbles and said it was an amazing caesar salad. He chose the Polynesian Chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables and it looked awesome. He said it was one of the best chicken dinners he has ever had. I opted for the lamb, several tender grilled lamb chops with the same grilled vegetables but I had the rice of the day, a flavorful concoction with a lot of zest from cummin and rosemary. The lamb came with a house made mint and tzatziki sauce that was fantastic with the lamb. The chops were perfectly grilled and the sauce just added to the already delicious flavor. I also added a side of grilled tomatoes and talk about great, it was like they were right out of the garden and onto the grill. There was a desert tray which we looked at and passed, we were quite full. Service was excellent and they do bring some delicious home made bread while you are waiting. On the menu are some entrees, a few shish kabob choices and several salads and a couple soups. They have an extensive list of appetizers, most of which are exclusive. I cannot wait to go back to this wonderful little gem on the main street in downtown Newburgh.

The staff and food were on point. I would recommend the Polynesian chicken. Ir hir all the notes. The owner even stopped by our table to chat. It was a great experience will make it back in the future. One of my favorite places I've been to since coming into the area.

This place is highly recommended. It is located right on the river with a quaint indoor seating area and nice outdoor seating. Our server was very knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. The steak medallions were so tasty paired with a sangria! Make sure to save room for their homemade carrot cake.

Honest review. Why change a good thing? This restaurant has been a local gem for years. I had heard it had changed ownership. We’ve increasingly noticed the recipes have taken a hard hit. We’ve been getting the lentil soup for years - best we’d ever had. It’s recently been changed to a weak tomato broth with cubed carrots, mostly onions, a few chickpeas, with maybe a tablespoon of lentils per bowl ( = it’s no longer “lentil” soup), sans any and all previous flavor. Other recipes during our recent visits have been tweaked just enough to turn them from unique and exceptional to average. Marscapone cake has been replaced with a weak cake version. It’s such a bummer. Atmosphere and service are always good, but man we hate to see everything that made this place what it once was slowly go. The soup was so bad today that it wasn’t even eaten (still paid for it though). Posting less as a complaint and in hopes the new owner will realize what this original gem had to offer and stop tweaking the recipes and menu before it becomes just another restaurant.

I loved everything about this restaurant! I went to Newburg to visit Sweet Emotions and Barefoot Cottage and everyone recommended me eating there. I was alone and sat at the bar. All the girl workers were so energetic and sweet! I can not wait to bring my friends back here!

AMAZING lunch!! The food, service and atmosphere (especially if you are lucky enough to get an outside table with a river view) was incredible! We enjoyed everything we ate. Prices are very reasonable. Staff was very attentive. Don't hesitate to go. We will be going back for dinner next time!

I had big expectations with my lunch today at this place but unfortunately nothing was what I was told. The waiting for the food was too long, and when we got it, the chicken wrap was oily and almost no chicken in it. The chicken hamburger was good but nothing especial, I hope you have a better experience than me and my wife.

We've been coming to Arazu for the last few years, and always have an enjoyable experience. Whether it's snacking on a hummus platter on the patio with a cool drink or grabbing a lunch with a friend, Arazu is a gem in downtown Newburgh. It's Mediterranean so expect shawarma, gyro, and the like, but there's always a variety of options for some of the pickier members of your party. Our personal favorite is their shrimp appetizer (their version of bang bang shrimp), which is hands down perfect in my opinion. The inside is cozy with a variety of eclectic decorations adorning just about every surface. While interesting to look at, probably not an ideal place for young kids especially given the close quarters. Price seems reasonable for the quantity and quality of food, but if you have a particularly big appetite it might be just a little on the smaller side depending on what you order. Overall a strong recommendation especially if you're looking for something a little different. Delicious food and a scenic (for southern Indiana at least) near water location make for a great lunch or dinner.

Saw good reviews on this place, my lady and I attended for the first time. Nice day, plenty of shaded outdoor seating. Was able to be seated quickly, Sarah was the individual taking our orders. We both ordered the gyro sandwiches with fries. Liquid refreshment was promptly serve. Wait for food was reasonable. Nice food preparation, very tasty. Sarah made sure our drinks were filled and the order was satisfactory. Facility was very clean, plenty of rooms between tables. Lots of plants and flowers made for a nice environment. A very pleasant experience, will return again to sample some other meals. Special thank you to Sarah...hard working and delightful young lady.

Great cocktails, service and food. We love this place.

We were seated outside, Sydney B. was our amazing server, she was enthusiastic about her food recommendations and made our visit a pleasant one! We ordered spinach artichoke dip, Riverside Bacon Bleu Salad with beef added (solid recommendation by Sydney), grilled shrimp salad, ended with blueberry marscapone cake. Only constructive remark would be that the manager on duty (5/24/23) would appeared less stressed, acknowledge customers and smile!

Absolutely the best lamb chops I've ever eaten.

We decided to try this restaurant based local word of mouth and had high hopes. While the food wasn’t terrible (falafel plate, hummus plate and artichoke wrap were among items consumed), the service was awful. We weren’t greeted upon arrival , waited 10 mins for a table (even though they weren’t at all busy) and then sat there for 20 minutes before we asked someone where the server was. Turns out the person we asked was our server - she just decided to ignore us. I can’t say I’ll return as there’s nothing here that’s any better than Kabob Xpress or Yak & Yeti.

If you go on a Saturday night without reservations prepare for very long wait times. It was a group of 4. Waited close to 50 min for the table, and another 40 min for our food after ordering. This must be pretty normal for them considering there was little to no follow up from our waiter on how much longer it would take… and when my friend did ask, the waitress gave a rude look. I hate to say this but out waitress was rude and made the experience a lot worse. It was awkward each time she came up to our table. I hate that since it was my first time at the place. I ordered the shawarma platter and it was good, but the potato wedges were burnt. It’s the dark brown stuff on the plate. I should have ordered the mash potatoes which were better. For the price though it’s actually really good. Under $15 for the whole plate. Salad dressing was nice. But then I messed up and decided to pay for a $7 slice of carrot cake. And that wasn’t good at all. I could have bought a small cake for a bit more at IGA and it would have been a lot better. It was way too dense and moist and also had a weird chemical taste… anyway, 3 stars since I didn’t feel like I had to blow $30, but the waitress and wait times put a sour taste in my mouth.

I love cafe arazu. We live nearby. I don’t get to eat there often because my husband despises the wait…. Tonight though it was longer than ever before. We called ahead and there was no wait. Got there 12 minutes after we called and it was a 45 minute wait. Waited 55 minutes. I also asked when I called if they had chicken nuggets for our young person. It was confirmed they did….. We placed our order. 1 hour later we were told they were out of chicken nuggets. We waited longer. 10 minutes after that they brought out the child meal. We waited an additional 20 for our food. I ordered the lamb which is always amazing… I ordered medium rare. It was served cold, and was barely even rare. It had been SO long I ate it anyway. It took us over 20 minutes to get our check. I’m not sure what happened tonight but this was an awful experience. Very disappointing. They did take the chicken nuggets / subbed cheese pita she wouldn’t eat off our bill….

We had Cafe Arazu cater a luncheon at work and they did a fantastic job! The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. Will definitely be using them again in the future! Side Note: HIGHLY recommend the chicken shawarma!!!

Still as good as always with new owners

Always a good place to get food when in Newburgh. During rush hours your food may take a bit longer, but they make up for it with a great atmosphere and great food. During the summer the patio it is a great spot to sit and look at at the river and watch the barges go by.

So so good! Food and dessert was amazing and so was the service! Greatly recommend!!
