Stopped in for the fries, which were very good. A perfect blend of fried outside and a totally tasty tuber inside. It wasn't just take my order and go, though. Everyone there was friendly, and it was a pleasure talking with the bartender, Memphis. He was very friendly, personable, courteous, and knowledgeable of the menu. We talked drinks for a time and he hooked me up with a Vodka Gimlet while I sketched, and the kitchen worked on the fries. The drink was quite tasty. A perfect balance of sweet and citrus with the locally sourced lime juice they use. With service and flavors like these, no wonder Café Bruges is a popular place for fries. Great combo!

So delicious. Fries and sauces just amazing. I had the special tonight - tasty grilled shrimp on top of warm lentil salad. My husband had his usual hamburger and fries. Top it off with huge assortment of Belgium beers. Thank you Cafe Bruges

I had the pork rib eye special today. It was fantastic, something that should definitely be added to the permanent menu.

One of my favorite places to get Trappist ales and steak frites. Great beer selection, delightful food, and especially cones of fries served with various mayos/ketchups.

I feel like they are going down hill slowly. Been an option for years, noticed the downhill quality food, especially the frites - they aren’t changing the oil to fresh when cooking them, so they are very dark and hard.

Cool place, nice menu, decent prices.

Upon arriving, we were quickly seated. Waited a few minutes for our server to bring water, but wasn't long. Just enough time to look over menus and figure out what we wanted. Plenty of beer & sours on tap and a full menu of beverages to choose from. Just be careful, some of these are really strong and you can get wasted before even getting an appetizer. Loved the cherry lambic and Flemish sour. The frites were delicious and so rich. I'm guessing from being fried in beef tallow. The lamb burger was wonderfully seasoned and perfectly portioned. Only downside was I asked for medium and it came out well done which put it on the drier side than I like. The carbonnade was sooooo good. The beef was so tender and rich in flavor from being braised in beer. The potatoes were so full of flavor from being in the stew. I just wished they gave a little more of the beef because it was so good. Had plenty of gravy left so put some frites in there and finished it off. Overall very happy with the lunch. Atmosphere is very nice too. Busy, but not so much that you can't converse with your party. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for Belgian food and a first time experience, stop in and enjoy!

Pretty good restaurant. The fries are to die for

The service was pretty bad. There was a 30 min wait for our food and no one came over to us the entire time while we waited for food. The food was delicious, but small portion sizes. I would give the food 5 stars but have to take a star off for the small portions and the service. If the prices were cheaper, this could justify the small portion sizes.

This restaurant is now called the Pitt Street Station Restaurant. The food is very good and so are the drinks. Very good customer service.

Legit some of the best food I've had in a long time. We started with the "frites" and mussels appetizers, which were both good, but the fries were amazing. I can't emphasize how perfect they were, and the house mayo dipping sauce that came with it was great. For my entree, I got the "Belgian Meatball". The mashed potatoes were meh, but the meatballs were excellent and unlike any I've ever had. Unfortunately, while our server was very friendly, she did not check up on us very frequently, especially towards the end when we were waiting for the check to be delivered and taken back. Still, very minor complaint when compared to the quality of the food.

This was a great experience. The server was professional and a credit to the human race. The food was spot on. Awesome flavors and very creative dishes. They used what little space they have nicely. It had a good vibe and although we didn't get any drinks they have an impressive list of alcohol. They are soo close to 5 stars. The issue is the price we paid for lunch. They were dinner prices. I suppose it's possible that the portions are the same and therefore they wouldn't change price. Still, we all enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. Unfortunately due to the cost we won't be coming here very often. Check it out and see if the value fits for you.

Food was subpar. Mussels had a funky taste with no seasoning and were mushy. Bartender was friendly but missed our order and it was wrong. Atmosphere was nice.

Great food, service & beer. Too loud.

While the food is delicious and the imported beer is great, you also pay for it. The pricing is a tad high, but the taste is what you pay for. The downside is that this restaurant is in high demand, they don't take reservations, and the temperature inside is hotter than a normal restaurant. Expect to leave with an oily sheen on your skin. The biggest drawback is that if you have a party over 4 they fill tables of 2 and 4 first, and so you could be waiting for an hour in a crowded little area with a single bench. The experience will change entirely for smaller groups, where you can be seated and served faster. It isn't first come first serve for wait times. An example: I arrived in a party of 6, the wait list had our name on the top of the list. After witnessing all the 2 and 4 tops under us get seated first, we decided to leave after an hour. While this is a drawback and quite negative, if you're in a party of 2 or 4 you can expect some of the best food and beer Carlisle has to offer.

We went there due to a local reference. We were so delighted we went back the next day.

Currently here at Cafe Bruges and I must say that the experience was 5 stars . I had the Thai mussels for the app, and the seared scallops for my main. My wife (who is French) had the mussels in white wine sauce. I worked in France and Belgium and I have to say this place is spot on!

Never disappoints! Food, service, BEERS! So many Belgian beers over 100, with 10 on tap. As for the food our group had was mussels, pork ribeye, steak, carbonade flamade (stew) and a hamburger. Not to mention sides of frites, and mashed sweet-potatoes. All outstanding! This is both a destination restaurant and if you live within an hour drive one you will ask, “why aren’t we coming here more?” As for the beer, you can get a flight, or go exploring thought the menu and ask your server for suggestions. But…be responsible. The Belgian’s can sneak up on you. With all the cool food places in Carlisle, this should be at the top of your list.

We came during the early hours of Tuesday, but it was not crowded at all if you want that. The piano music they played was nice. And the Steak and “Frites” was great. They pack alot of fries in theres though so if your watching your sodium, then drink some water or exercise afterwards. The medium rare steak was excellent. The coffee was too.

Belgian beer 🍺 + Belgian Waffles 🧇 = 😋 This is one of the few restaurants in Carlisle that serves chef-inspired food and does it well. Moules Frites is a great dish that's best washed down with a nice pilsner. Only place in Carlisle you can get this dish. Their steak and salmon dishes are also great. But whatever you decide to have, make sure to include their Fries, or frites, 🍟 because they are cooked in animal, I belive duck, fat and are incredibly scrumptious. Get it with their house-made ketchup, or even better, their horseradish dipping sauce.

Mussels from Brussels in small town PA! Oh my they were good along with a sleeve of frites (don’t get ketchup try one of the delicious sauces instead). Then there is the beer… a top notch selection of Belgian beers that will literally make your head spin. Fast friendly service with a casual vibe.

The frites and horseradish sauce are my go-to. Everything was made perfect. Took longer than expected given how not busy they were at the time.

Wow! There are so many wonderful options, it was difficult to decide. The brussels were great. Beet salad was fresh and tasty. I wonder if I had not added the salmon, cooked to perfection and flavorful, the salad alone may have been less than interesting (pine nuts, walnuts...?). The sirloin burger was very good. The frites seemed tired when they arrived. Say "yes" to the tasty Blooky Mary. Our server, Hannah, was wonderful. She was present but never intrusive, cheery, and helpful. We will definitely come again. Many wonderful things on the menu.

My wife and I go here all the time. We're Carlisle *historic district* locals and we've tried pretty much every restaurant in walking distance to our house and this, for us, is the best Carlisle has to offer. Beats our local drivable options as well. The Fries are no kidding the best I've ever had and believe me I've eaten a lot of fries. The Belgian beer options are terrific - they even have some Trappist stuff.

Visited here for the 1st time last night after seeing it on “Keystone Cuisine”. It met all expectations for Belgian cuisine that I remember from my trips to Belgium years ago. Everything was absolutely delicious & the service was really good. As others have noted the mussels & frites were over the top. We don’t drink, so can’t comment on the beers except to say they were flowing to the other tables! My guess is they’re all great. Highly recommend this place…

This is a good European restaurant with most popular Belgian dishes on their menu. Their deserts are quite nice and they serve many different cocktails.

What a wonderful place to eat delicious food. Loved the Eggplant Jagerschintzel!

Stopped here for a late lunch. We enjoy the Belgian flare of the resturant and different available beers. Luckily there was plenty of seating, so there was no wait. Staff were wonder and attentive to our requests. My wife got a Bloody Mary and I got Belgian beer (Coucou Puissant) pre-ordering food. We ended up getting the Currywurst as an app. It was just perfect as there was enough for both of us to pick over before our main courses. I decided on the Belgian Meatball(s), which were delicious. I liked the carrots and other veggies mixed in with the mashed potatoes. It has a slight sweet taste to the sauce which complimented the meatballs. My wife got the Moules Frites. She selected Bruges for the mussel preperation. She enjoyed them immensely and they were not sandy. I swear if she could have, she would have drank all the left over sauce.

Went there for the first time tonight. We will definitely be back! The food was excellent with decent portions. Our waitress was attentive, efficient, and nice.

This is the 1st time I've been extremely disappointed. The Jager schnitzel was so over cooked, I could hardly get my knife to cut through it. When I complained to the server, he asked if I wanted another. The tone of his voice upset me; so, I said no. I ate about a third and left the rest set. The red cabbage had been sitting for a while and the frites which is usually dependable did not have the taste I normally expect. There was no offer of reduced price even though the server was well aware of my displeasure. I realize I can be difficult was it pertains to food, but this was an awful night. I wonder if they replaced the kitchen staff.

Kitchen a little slow at peak time but food and beer were so good. Would recommend everything I got. Lamb burger with fig sauce A+. Butternut squash soup was very tasty. And I'm going to have to get that banana clove IPA again asap!

Big shout out to our server, Jeremy! He was a great! If you visit here, make sure to take a good look around! This was a nice cozy spot with interesting art, and the layouts were different from what I'm used to. The food, oml, it was tasty, Def get the BLT when you're here! Price for everything want bad either. So if you're ever looking for a quick bite, definitely come here. I can't wait to come back and try sitting outside when it's not raining! I definitely want to try some of the cocktails they have here next time I come!

Great food! They have gluten-free options. The waitress was very attentive to detail and made sure I didn't get any cross-contamination. It was a great experience eating out here. The only other thing that could have made the experience better would be having off-street parking.

Great evening with friends. We showed up with a large group and they were very accommodating! Tuesday our server was super awesome! Really great selection of European beers particularly Belgian and German. Cocktails were pricey for size but were fabulous and not stingy on the alcohol! Food was delicious and No on went home hungry. Overall great experience- would eat and drink here again!

We have lived in Carlisle twice and continue to overnight when we can. Last year we discovered this wonderful restaurant and it never fails to please. Authentic Belgian beers and food are impossible to beat; no other restaurant can touch them for delicious food, great beer, and exceptional service; as well the prices are very reasonable! Jeremy was most helpful recommending a good food and draft choice today and we can’t wait to get back to this hidden gem.

My kids wanted to go there as they have been there before. The lamb, sirloin burgers were good. Grilled Salmon was great according to my wife. I had lamb burger which was really good. What was not really good was a piece of hair in the plate all the way at the bottom!!!

A great place to eat. They have an amazing selection of Belgian beers and delicious food. As we annully attend the All Ford Nationals, we also annually frequent Cafe Breges. A great place for dinner. Highly recommended.

This used to be one of my favorite places. It has gone downhill, I suppose a covid era reality. The fries are terrific. The menu is interesting, but has been steadily reduced over the years. I wish they would do some crepes regularly. I would also recommend they add a mitraillette (sandwich). Their Belgian chocolate is first rate for dessert. Now, so what is my beef? The burger bun was stale. That just doesn't sit well. The prices are high, so rather than raising them some more, they have lowered the portion size, essentially across the board. They have some sound deadening panels, but could use some more, with a high ceiling and hard floor. There is a general cacophony. Good place for beer, if that is your pleasure.

If you love Belgium brews and food, this is the place for you. They have a large selection of Trappist brews. The quiche, mussels, and frites 🍟 are some of my favorites. The soups are also outstanding. The price is not cheap, but it is worth it.

The Brussel sprouts are to die for! The steak was amazing. Everything is so good! The desserts are outstanding, the apple pie dessert is perfect for an ending to a meal. It is worth trying!

We've been going here for years on a somewhat regular basis (generally spending $60 to $100+ per visit), and used to recommend it to everyone. However, it's gone down hill to the point of hit or miss on quality of food, missing staple items that are supposed to come with certain dishes, and while there may be 1 waiter left that tries really hard, overall service from hostess, to bar tender, to the rest of the wait staff is just flat out bad, very rude and disrespectful. It's not acceptable. There are many restaurants in downtown Carlisle that have consistently great service and food, we'll go to them from now on and skip Bruges. Bruges, you've lost our business and will no longer be recommended.

My fiance and I visited Saturday night and we had delicious belgian food and beers. Our server was very pleasant and informative. I highly recommend for a date night.

First time here. Absolutely fantastic place!!! Stewed Rabbit is increditble. And the waffle is a great way to finish everything off! The staff was very friendly and our server was very professional and attentive. Would rate higher if I could.

The best frites (French fries) ever! And excellent dark chocolate mousse ($7) served in a chocolate cup! The grilled salmon ($21) was also excellent. The steak ($28) was decent. Service was very good. Attention is given to detail.

OK in a pinch...average all around...snippy waiter...decent mussels with a few bad ones (bad breath bad) in the mix...if no alternatives, give it a try.

Sirloin burger and frites with horseradish sauce...YUM! Had a lindemans framboise, also very yum. Did not taste like beer...slightly sour taste at the end, reminded me of pomegranate juice.

I am a teacher who just finished having dinner there with 31 high school students from my French Club. The staff here couldn't have been better. The food was delicious. Excellent experience from reservations to waving goodbye as we left...and so efficient! Merci Bien!!

Some of the best Belgian fare around! This is always a spot for us to stop at every time we visit Carlisle. High end fare with reasonable pricing. It's that small town charm that shines through. Worth the stop, especially if you're a beer lover!

We’ve stopped overnight in Carlisle several times and tried a number of local restaurants. Finally, we found one good enough to go back to, in fact, good enough to go out of your way for. The food is well-prepared, portions are ample and prices are reasonable. My wife and I shared an appetizer, an entree and a dessert and went away stuffed for less than $50. And the selection of beers and ciders is vast. Don’t miss it!

I cant comment on the food - we just went there to sample the Belgian beers, and it was a wonderful time. The bartender was really knowledgeable (wish i cld remember his name, i just dont) and guided us thru the various selections as we tried a few flights of beers. We sat at the bar, they didnt rush us, just let us relax and helped out whenever asked. Nice time, and we'd like to go back again sometime to try the food.

Very cool place that offers something different! They strive to always offer around 100 different Belgian beers...whew! They have about a dozen on tap, and they have flights, so you can try a bunch. None of what we tried we ever heard of, so it was really enjoyable to taste such different beers. Food was very good (everyone raves about the fries...yes they are divine). We had burgers which were great. Well done but not dried out, tender, juicy, and toppings were exceptionally fresh as though just picked that day. House made pickles and house made sauces. They do not use high fructose corn syrup here, wohoo! You can tell they take pride in their establishment. Our waiter was very nice, service could be considered slow but we were in no hurry and he may have sensed that. This was a fun place to try, and I highly recommend!

Nice casual European stye resturant. Really would not have expected to find a resturant like this in Carlisle, PA. Good service, good food, nice atmosphe.

It’s ok. Food and beer is a little different.

For lovers of Belgian ales and inspired food, this lovely cafe is a must visit. Staff is super friendly, the food is good, and the draft beer list is normally amazing. Get the curried catsup to dip your frites in.

LOVE Cafe Bruge. My son has always loved Cafe Bruge and we always go there for special occasions. Celebrated his 16th b-day there today. He thanked me while there AND later when we got home. He normally thanks me, but never as much as when we go there.

I went for lunch and proceeded to freeze my buns off! I was thankful I had a light jacket with me. The food was ok, but the beer was better. I would just go for a light drink and dine somewhere else. The choices of beers were a good amount, but the food menu seemed semi limited. I think they should have a different meat for the burgers. I think a sirlion burger is not as good as a ground beef, but that is my opinion of course. I think the meat was more dense and when cooked was very tough/hard. High prices for lunchtime. I will not return for a meal, but a drink I would!

Okay, so Cafe Bruges is amazing. I am biased, however, for I love Belgian beer. The food is top notch, the serving staff is phenomenal - Paul and Sinjin make it worth coming back every time. That being said, it is not for those unwilling to spending $50+ on a meal. Those imported beers do have a cost, especially if you reach into the impeccable selection of bombers and high-end products. I have only ever had one bad beer, due to a faulty seal, which was promptly replaced for me. Post-Covid Update: please do yourself the favor of making reservations! The restaurant is oftentimes very busy, so especially if you have a group, a reservation is the best thing to do! Fortunately, you can do it as easily as shooting an email. Excellent food and service await!

Great food great service noisy

The mussels were almost as good as the ones I had in Brussels. The quiche was great. The meatballs were a bit dry but very tasty. The Beet salad was good but could use a bit of seasoning. We couldn’t have the goat cheese on it so that needed to be made up for.

Wonderful food. And quite the beer/ale selection of that's your thing.
