First time visit during lunch. The chicken quesadilla was flavorful and delicious. Ordered the California chicken burrito was just okay. I am used to having chips and salsa and was disappointed that it would cost extra unlike other local places. Overall, would like to visit again for dinner.

Came here for dinner with family and sat outside, on a cooler evening during our unrelenting heat wave. The burritos we each chose were ample, reasonably priced and very tasty. The House Margaritas were perfect. We shared a fried ice cream and a piece of tres leches cake for dessert. Both were amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

I ate at the restaurant for lunch. The burrito was barely warm-almost cold and nowhere near hot. Service was quick and food came out within 5 minutes (could have used more time in the microwave). Their salsa tastes great. I want to try this place again but each time I consider it, I remember that cold burrito... Probably will never go back.

Overpriced for the small amount of food. Outside view of a dealership and relatively busy road. Service forgot drinks and we ended up getting them long after the dinner. Disappointed.

We sat outside. My husband had a chimichanga and it tasted good. Plenty of food for the money.

Absolutely delicious food and fantastic service!!!!

This was worse Mexican ever. We had a good meal here prior, but our return was not as expected. Fish taco was 2 small pieces of Gordon type frozen fish and a couple pieces of dry cabbage. Unbelievable, partner had a steak burrito, not much meat and beans galore, nothing special. $20 lunch without any quality or memorable flavors.

Food was tasty enough, but not what I was expecting for the rating. The service was fair, but I was not allowed to change up and order from what was on the menu.

Originally rated this 5 star but I am dropping it to 2 star. Take out food was a joke. Not the same taste and a laughable amount of food for $17.99+tax. Very bland.

The food is amazing but the salsa used to be so much better. I have been a customer since before they moved and the salsa used to have some flavor. It’s not good now…bland. Chips were stale today (5/5/24)…not good. It’s my favorite Mexican place in Derrick so disappointing.

Cute restaurant with excellent food!

Food was excellent!! I ordered the tropical pineapple fajita. It was really good loved dipping my tortilla in the pineapple juice. Would have liked to have small bits of pineapple in the fajita mix and maybe a few more shrimp, my husband loved his dish as well. Service was excellent!!

Cafe Bueno is exactly what you expect: authentic and very flavorful food. Friendly, attentive, and invested staff. Clean, well lit, and beautifully decorated. It feels, tastes, and sounds like the real deal. I give these guys 6/5. Absolutely fantastic!

Stopped here on a day trip. We had the dogs & they made sure we were set up for eating in the truck. Guacamole was so good we almost went back in from the parking lot for 2nds! Tender beef, great flavors & fresh veggies! We're in Carroll County so we'll be back for sure!

No complimentary chips and salsa, queso dip tastes like it's made from a powder mix. Five waiters asking to help but not talking to each other. This one is a definite pass.

This was the 2nd disappointing Mexican restaurant in Frederick. 1st, the margaritas had an off flavor and not very good. The only way to describe it would be if you've ever drank filtered water that required a new filter so it had a weird taste. 2nd, most people come to expect chips and salsa to be a part of the meal. I guess most places do that so when I have to pay for it, its bugs me. The judge a Mexican restaurant hard on the salsa. If it would have been fantastic I would have been ok paying for it, but it was average at best. My fajitas were decent though. The flavor of the chicken was actually pretty good, but number 1 and number 2 are enough to push me away.

The chips and salsa are great. But they charge for them. Unlike most Mexican restaurants I've been too. They charged me for another serving of salsa as well. Which is wild to me. The meat in my burrito was dry. If you want good Mexican food I suggest going down to the Golden Mile, route 40. You get more for what you pay and so many choices of restaurants

It is in an old Pennsylvania Railroad building. Very nice for a railfan.

The food is absolutely delicious, best Mexican food in the DMV area. As soon as I arrived, the smell outside let me know that I had indeed made the right choice.

We love the Mexican food here and the atmosphere! In the warmer months, we enjoy eating outside on their patio. The staff is very alert and aware that you are there, and they care about your business. We keep coming back to try different dishes and it’s always satisfying!

Terrible experience today. We got our bill and there were 3 up charges to our complete surprise. We when asked our waitress about it she argued with us and told us it was our fault and then pointed to the menu and told us the opposite of what was on the page. When we pointed that out she put the bill on the table and left. Very disappointing service. And sad to pay up charges that we never ordered.

Happy colorful decor. Super clean restaurant and bathrooms. Chicken enchilada mole was super good and the huevos ranchero was equally enjoyable.

Service is 6*, food is above par Mexican, had a steak chorizo burrito and it was superb, location is pretty good, decor isn't going to win any awards. You cannot do better for a quick lunch, gets noisy for dinner. Prices are good. One of the better Mexicans in fred. I hear that the Mexican sandwiches are v tasty.

I have been going to Cafe Bueno since they were in their original location. The food is always great and service amazing. On my last visit I have the grilled fish tacos and they were cooked and seasoned well. Just delicious!

We just tried out this restaurant last night. We ordered Chicken Fajita, Burrito and Enchiladas along with chips and roasted tomato salsa. Everything was perfect. I haven't been to Mexico yet. But this is what I assume an authentic Mexican food in Mexico would taste like. One can still taste the spices as well as chicken or any other ingredients in the food. This is on the top 3 for Mexican food we have had in the past, along with Mexican food we have had during our stay in California! And that is not a simple statement, to say the least! I highly recommend folks try out this restaurant! Kudos to the kitchen staff at Cafe Bueno!

Great little place! It's my favorite location to get Mexican food in the area. Way better than most locations around here.

More like cafe no bueno. The food was just terrible with dry meats and no flavor. The service at pickup was equally uninspired.

Reasonably priced food with excellent service.

We came on a Thursday and this place as amply full the atmosphere upbeat and enjoyable. The staff were busy but very busy and took time to help. The Baja fish tacos were excellent. The green sauce that goes with them was excellent. The steak enchiladas were great. The food overall tasted fresh and flavorful. The Moleajete de la Casa was literally everything in the house but tasted good. The rice was moist and flavorful as well as the refried beans. Definitely recommend trying if you're in the area.

Seems like a really solid lunch special, both with the quality and the amount of food you get. The steak torta was fantastic, though rice and beans could have had more flavor, still good when mixed especially with their sauces they make and provide. Fried ice cream was a letdown, it's breaded with corn flakes? Service was fast and our waitress was very nice. Would definitely return for lunch.

Great Mexican restaurant! Driving through on our way from Baltimore to Pittsburgh, we found this wonderful place not far off Rt 70. Everything we ordered was delicious! And the service was excellent- fast and friendly. We were there during happy hour and it was crowded, but our food came out quickly and our waitress checked on us regularly. The grilled veggie burrito is amazing! Definitely would go back!

I'd eaten at Cafe Bueno once before when it was in a much smaller storefront (some time in late 2018-ish), and it was delicious then, but moving to their current location has made ALL the difference! The food is more or less the same as I remember from before (again, delicious), but we sat outside on our first visit to the new location (mid October 2023), and it was absolutely beautiful! It was a Friday night, but not too crowded, and the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. Server was attentive and extremely pleasant.

A staple at our business located across the street. We regularly get the lunch specials and food is almost always spectacular and ready by the time we walk over. Great place to eat as a family as well.

I was disappointed when we tried Cafe Bueno out last week. The staff was friendly, but you are charged for chips and salsa. They were missing a few items as well. This was our favorite after we first visited the restaurant a year ago.

I ordered Cafe Bueno for takeout dinner tonight. The food was ready fast, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. I got chicken/steak/shrimp fajitas, and chips with salsa and queso. The food was alright. Fair portion sizes.

We go here often. My guy is from Texas and swears they have the best enchiladas from anywhere (even Mexico) I personally also enjoy the atmosphere, service, and food of course. We are Latinos so we are knowledgeable of flavorful great food. It's reasonably priced and the spirits are always poured with a a heavy hand .

The food portion size for price is really small. Also they don't provide any chips/salsa like most Mexican restaurants do. You have to pay 5$ and order it. The outdoor attunement wasn't were good. It was just bunch of plastic picnic tables and chairs put together. It was very tight as well. Food taste was ok but not great. I ordered 3 dishes and told them no mushrooms but they ended up putting mushrooms in 2 of them. When brought up the issue, they were little reluctant to fix the issue. If it was any other place they would take everything back and bring fresh food. Quite disappointed overall, I don't think I would return.

There was nothing about this place to not like. The food was fantastic, our servers were pleasant, and the outdoor seating is phenomenal on this gorgeous evening. They definitely deserve a 5 star rating for not only quality but quantity as well!

I had an excellent lunch here with several of my friends. We arrived when it was very busy but we didn't have to wait long for our order. The food and atmosphere were wonderful!

Best and authentic Mexican food. I have been to a lot of Mexican eateries in DMV, California, Texas and other places around the country but Cafe Bueno is the best, it tastes like homemade food plus I have been to their kitchen and it’s so clean and smells amazing.

Have NOT been inside to eat for AWHILE. NEEDLESS to say I had time to do so today. The atmosphere is always upbeat. The Servers are AMAZING! They always remember your name and your favorite order! I had the Shrimp Tostadas today AMAZING yum! So for REAL Mexican Food come here!

Mexcellent taco Tuesday. No free chips and salsa. But the chips and salsa are good for the price. They where under staffed but we had a great lunch. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Had the Huevos a La Mexicana. It was inedible. The dish tasted of the carbon steel pan in which it was cooked, the salsa was bland, the beans were unseasoned and watered down. A completely wasted meal. Service and servers were pleasant. We had dined here prior to the pandemic when the food was very tasty, but things have changed, and not for the better.

A lovely spot in Frederick. Perfect for a quick lunch. Definitely in a better location than they used to be. Highly recommend the steak and chorizo quesadilla.

It has been a couple years since our first visit. The restaurant had recently relocated and was wall to wall with waiting families to dine. The margarita was top shelf as was the food. After two years, we ordered an order to go this weekend. As my wife said, "We've been sleeping on this." Excellent food. Everything fresh and priced well. We'll be back THIS year.

My second time there. Went for lunch with a friend outside. The waitress was patient and very helpful. She didn't rush us a bit. Food was very good. We got the chicken burrito and fajitas in a pineapple I was pleasantly surprised that this time things were much better. The margaritas were very good as well. I'm glad I gave them a second chance!

This place is highly underrated. The food was fantastic (I had the steak fajitas). The service was AMAZING! There were lots of servers collectively checking on us. We couldn't have asked for better service. And we sat outside to eat on a beautiful, breezy summer day. It doesn't get much better than Cafe Bueno. Have a margarita at happy hour, sit back, relax and enjoy.

Don't let the outside fool you, this is a nice place inside with beautiful chairs and booths. You feel like you are in Mexico. I took 4 others here for a group outing and everyone liked their meals. The Tortas is a sandwich on a Telera roll. Good selection of meats, mine was chicken and one of the others choose pork. Served with rice and beans it was a filling and tasty meal. Three Tacos with choice of meat were filled with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. Choice of hard or soft tortilllas, onions cilantro and served with rice & beans, The taco bowl was a generous serving in a crisp taco bowl. Choice of meat topped with Pico de Gallo. Good choice of beverages with bottled beer and soda. Good Mexican beer choices on tap! Good place to eat and kids would do well here. Friendly servers.

If I could give no stars I would. Usually I've had nothing but excellent service but today was awful. Waited 20 min for my food that I called in and they said would be ready in 30 min. Found out it was sitting there getting cold the whole time. There was people just standing around not moving even when said excuse me to them they just ignored me. Also they forgot my side of rice and beans and they didn't give my mom any sour cream on her casadea at all. It was dry she said. I'm glad we didn't tip!

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. My steak torta was great. My wife ordered a quesadilla, and it was not good, way too greasy, and the cheese was nonexistent. Staff was friendly and nice location. Decent lunch specials.

The service was excellent. The man taking care of us was extremely friendly and attentive. The food came out very quickly. The chips and salsa were good, although you have to order them for 5.99, which was a bit unusual. I had steak tacos, "Mexican style," which were good. My wife had the tacos al pastor, which she said were similarly good. Everything was cooked well and tasted fresh. The chicken nachos we ordered to start were also very good. The fried ice cream had an unpleasant consistency--it was chewy, like it came right out of the freezer instead of the fryer. That was the only disappointment. They have a simple menu with limited options, which, as usual, means they're good at what they do. Worth a visit if you're in downtown Frederick.

Ruined my Cinco de Mayo, now I feel sick. Food is bland and tortillas are called. They call the pastor “spicy” but it literally has no flavor. They charge 5 dollars for chips and salsa! And they also charged a 1.50 for beans and rice when it already came with the meal (no mention of any charge before hand). My meal also included a free fountain soda, but I never got it. This place is the best Mexican food in town! I sent today with my mom and we got tortas I got steak & chorizo it was so flavorful definitely a 10/10. My mom got a Cuban torta and she also said it was delicious! Definitely will Be back

I would not recommend Cafe Bueno unfortunately, we ordered from there and the food seemed like it was done with no care, like it used to be when it first opened. I ordered the chicken chimichangas and they were old, greasy and made me sick the next day. The guac had huge pieces of peppers and onions, not appetizing at all, the rice and beans tasted old. My husband ordered the shrimp nachos, the shrimp had a weird smell, they were definitely over cooked and tasted awful. Everything was very disappointing.I’m sorry to say this because we used to like it but it’s not done like it was before and it is now overpriced too!

Great food, service is usually fast & friendly. Only knock is very limited parking at restaurant. Will likely have to find metered parking on a nearby side street.

We went for lunch. The restaurant is clean and has some decent decor and music playing. Service was just okay. My wife's super burrito was mediocre, as were my enchiladas. Disappointed, as it's supposed to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in town. We'll keep looking.

Lots of atmosphere & great food!

Food was OK I had the steak tacos and the steak was really dry and almost leather like. My brother had the beef tacos he said they were good just not enough cheese. Service was bad once you get your food you are pretty much on your own. We needed refills on our drinks and when I stood up to go to the bar they said that they would get it for me.

I love how nice and friendly the people are, i love how clean the restaurant is, but im not that much of a fan of their food. I have been coming here for while now even at their old location and i feel like the food quality has dropped. I had the fish tacos this time and they were very plain, the rice and beans was cold and the taco itself did not have that much flavor. I do love how attentive the workers are.
