While attending the Progressive National Baptist Convention, our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Addison Canidy wanted to treat the church member attendees to lunch. Three of us were on a mission within hours to find a location for the next day! We had an awesome Lyft driver who was patient and very accommodating. Long story short...we found Cafe Reconcile. Chef Martha opened her doors, after hours, listened to our plans and said Yes We Can! The ambience, the food, the service was on point. Thank you Cafe Reconcile...job well done!

When visiting New Orleans, unfortunately I was caught out by a lot of mediocre, over-priced tourist traps with sub-par food. On the last day of the trip, my opinion on New Orleans cuisine was saved by Cafe Reconcile. Four different meals were ordered , and each one could have brought a tear to the eye of Mr Gordon Ramsey himself. Seriously good southern food. This is an absolute must eat for anyone visiting Nola. Absolutely worth the trip

The story of this place caught our attention. My family and I traveled from Tennessee and heard good things about the food here. The place was very nice and clean. Also wasn't overly crowded and had a great atmosphere especially seeing all the young people working and learning. With that being said, I expected more from the food. My sons catfish po boy was slimy (not done) in the middle which gave it a bad flavor. My daughters chicken was not cooked to expectations, (No seasoning) and she didn't eat her salad due to the ranch tasting like tartar sauce. My fiance ordered the deviled eggs and didn't like them. The thing that bothered me the most is that there was no seasoning in or on the food at all. Creole or otherwise. I had to add lots of hot sauce to my red beans and rice to finish the bowl. Keeping in mind that there were lots of teaching moments happening, I didn't complain, even seeing some staff drops and mishaps. The best part of the meal was the turkey necks and the cabbage. The New Orleans food standard definitely was not met.

We dined at Cafe Reconcile twice in the past two months. The food is delicious and consistent. Everything we ate was fresh and hot and the portions were big. The service is great, our waitress was really sweet and engaging. My personal favorites are the catfish plate, potato salad, onion rings, collard greens, fried chicken, and the sauteed veggie side. I highly recommend Cafe Reconcile for high quality southern soul food.

When I say this food was so good! I had the salmon, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese! Not only is the food good but they’re a nonprofit that supports the youth in our city! Catch them for lunch Tuesday-Friday!

Amazing food. People friendly. Crabcakes were bussing. Jerk was that slap your momma. Sweet potato crumble 😍😍😍😍😍😍. My wife had the stuffed chicken. Omg

We were very impressed with this place. The food and service were incredible, and the staff was extremely friendly. The prices were very low, especially for the quality of the food, and we left a nice tip to support the good cause of training disadvantaged young people in culinary services. They’re only open for lunch, Tues - Fri. But it is definitely worth figuring out how to fit a meal into your schedule. We highly recommend Café Reconcile!

Best crab cakes in NOLA - loved the fried chicken and collard greens.

I have been looking for weeks for some good white beans and dear lord I have found the place! The Thursday special is white beans with shrimp, I almost passed out this was so good I also bought a red beans plate to go but my wife came home and tore it up before I could get to it, and she just look at me and said where did you get this from. Very good atmosphere and great service. Highly recommend

This crew is doing great work for the community AND putting out some truly fantastic food. The fried chicken and collards are next level, and the strawberry shortcake is divine.

Affordable cuisine in a casual environment. My fried chicken plate hasn’t come out yet but just based on the jouvie Juice and banger of a side salad, i got a good feeling about this place. Wish it was open for more hours!

Wow! I don't want to say this was the best meal we had on our 5 day vacation... But it was! Not to be missed and for a good cause.

This place is like eating at your grandma, when you pop in for half hour lunch between laundrymat chores and post office and say that you’re hungry. If you are lucky enough to get a table during their hours of operation - you must!

Can’t beat the food and the prices. Great staff. We left 50% tip (donation) and it was still our cheapest Nola meal and our best. Better than our meal at commodores palace.

Have been wanting to try this place for a long time especially considering their mission. Their hours of operation are a little difficult for the 9-5 time, but finally made it out. Everything was fresh to order. Staff were friendly. They have indoor seating, parking is street parking. The building vibe is loft style, with high ceilings which made the place feel spacious. It was a busy time however we were seated quickly. I think they put a lot of detail into the place. Really enjoyed the fried turkey necks and the sweet potato fries. Would go back for those.

Everything was wonderful, food, service, pleasant atmosphere. I have been there before several times and will return many more times.

Just all around great !!! Closes at 2PM..Always packed ; good idea to make a reservation. I thought was very reasonable ( can have nice lunch for under $15 . Very noisy.

Take out order via phone. When i arrived the place was packed. I called ahead and my food was ready basically after I paid. I was helped right away. I got the half chicken fried with sweet potatoes and greens. Added a sweet tea once I got there. When I got back "home" it was a 15 min walk and my good was still hot. EVERYTHING was AMAZING. Chicken fried and seasoned to perfection, greens done just right, and sweet potato was sweet just enough to compliment the natural flavor. Ice tea was sweet but not too much (I don't like extremely sweet anything).

We visited creole-style restaurant twice in December 20th and 21st. Unlike regular restaurants, this is aiming at training students aw well as supporting community. This is the restaurant that served the most delicious dishes among ones we visited in New Orleans. Even in South Bay of San Francisco we currently live in, we can not find such a restaurant because most of restaurant detest complicated processes increasing costs.

Busy little cafe in the heart of the city. Nice program going on here for troubled and disadvantage youth. We were greeted by polite teens when we entered, presented with a delicious meal, and were highly impressed with the workings of the operation. The restaurant was full of people from a wide variety of backgrounds. There were blue collar city workers, business people, retired people, tourists, and even high ranking officials. I had the grilled portobello with sweet potato fries, collard greens, and watermelon lemonade, my wife ordered a shrimp po' boy. The food was perfect and savory. There were even leftovers we offered to a homeless guy when we left. Nice spot with noble intentions. Recommending this place to everyone I know going to the garden district. Thank you for what you're doing for the community.

This place is truly special! Heard about it from the NYTimes. Did a walk in and there was about a 30 minute wait. It was totally worth it. Their mission and community based drive is admirable. And the food - wow!!! Large portions, seasoned well. Big smiles from everyone eating around me in the restaurant as well. Had the fried catfish with crawfish sauce, mac & cheese and collard greens.

Emculate service from entry to exit. The friendly hosts, the waitress and her fabulousrecommendations, and to the friend Chris Ross who kindly welcomed us. My Broker and I were observing how well everyone works together, from the front and back of house. Yall do such a great job. The portabella plate with mac and cheese + sweet potatoe mash (and turkey neck special) are still delicious 2 days later. Keep up the great work!!. 👍🏼 Highly recommended. Chef Martha leads by example in expo, everyone is smiling in the kitchen, and sanitation is top notch (gloves, hair restraints, cleanliness of open kitchen views from guests perception). Highly recommended.

Wow, blown away by our lunch here. We arrived at 1330 without a reservation and they managed to squeeze us in as the last table before the kitchen closed, it was definitely worth the 45 minute wait. Food was outstanding, everything from the fried turkey necks, fried Green Tomato sandwich, Gumbo, blackened Catfish. We loved everything. Unsweet tea was delicious and served with a slice of lemon just how I like it. Staff were so friendly, some of the best hospitality I've experienced in New Orleans. It was incredible value for money, most of the entrees were around 12 dollars. Already looking to return to work through more of the menu.

I come here often. Today was my first time trying the salmon. D E L I C I O U S!!!!! It’s my new favorite entree!! The sweet potato soufflé is another fave. The people next to us said they eat the Turkey necks every Friday a d they’re delish, too. The fried catfish is also a winner. I support this organization and the youth they help. Don’t expect 5 star service bc they’re in training and LEARNING. Be patient, relax, and eat here!!

A restaurant with a mission serving honest, well-prepared New Orleans creole food. The restaurant employs at-risk young men and women from the transitioning neighborhood. Excellent chicken gumbo, smothered chicken and cabbage, peach cobbler, etc etc.

Had the fried tomato sandwich. Very tasty but a bit heavier than I thought it would be, so I couldn't finish it, which is rare for me. Relaxed atmosphere. Funky part of town that looks like it's changing rapidly.

If it's open (limited days and hours) do yourself a favor and go inside! Excellent experience and you're helping the community.

Everything is amazing here food the people!!!! No salt and pepper because you don’t need it everything is filling and flavorful. Al T was amazing.

The entree and dessert, when I went, was on a 4 star level with overly sweet lemonade. The staff are local high school students. Though the staff are young, I would not recommend you bring kids 6th grade and younger. The food is delicious and their palate would waste the experience. The prices are not similar to a 4 star restaurant around the French Quarter, but range from $10-$18 per person including a dessert. I believe gratuity is added, but it goes towards the continuation of the restaurant. Layout was clean, spacious and nice. If you want to know if a person you are dating can get along with youth - depending on if you plan to have kids, be an aunt/uncle, or spend part of your life benefiting or guiding youth - take them here. Breakfast not offered and not always opened so check ahead.

Saying the food was flavorful would not express how full of flavor the food was. Do not come here in a hurry because it's not gonna happen. Check out their website and you'll have plenty of grace for the wonderful people serving and working to get better at life and relationships (the truly important things). If I could eat here every day, I would!

I absolutely love this place. The staff is great and there is enty of seating and parking. But most important the food is incredible! I can't tell you how much we have been talking about this spot. The turkey necks are insane. I can't wait to come back!

Been there many times, and I leave wanting wanting to try more dishes. Service is absolutely amazing. There’s young people in there who really want to learn who really want to make sure you get the best experience and they give you the best experience. Tuesday is my favorite because of the way the chicken is smothered and put over rice; I crave it.

Anyone visiting New Orleans and don't visit Café Reconcile, you have missed out on 1 of the most awesome dinning experience one could have. The lemon 🍋 pepper catfish is to die for. Turkey necks ( the Friday special) are falling off the bone on their to your table. Service is fast and very courteous. I would give Café Reconcile 7 🌟 ⭐🌟 ⭐ 🌟 ⭐ 🌟 .

Food, service and atmosphere were outstanding

Wonderful and attentive staff. They made such delicious meals! I didn't feel rushed even though it was a very busy afternoon. Lucy was such a treat to have as our server. I devoured the La Catfish, blackened, with greens, mac and cheese, along with watermelon lemonade, and pineapple upside-down cake. Overall, Café Reconcile has an excellent training program for young people and we need more establishments like this around the country.

Was there for a sponsored dinner- food was so delicious and the mission of the Cafe Reconcile makes it even better! If I lived in NOLA I'd visit regularly!

Lucy, and Outee our waiters were excellent. Lucy,an enterprising entrepreneur himself, was excellent. The food is second to none. We will be back to visit Lucy’s restaurant that he dreams of in 2 years. Bravo! Great establishment and even better service. The Reconcile starts dreams and fulfills them. They just happen to have great food!

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was amazing and Lucy and Ethan took great care of us. I got the burger with a side of potato salad and my mom got the red beans & rice with a side of mac & cheese. My mom said the mac & cheese was some of the best she’s ever had and the potato salad tastes just like my mom mom’s homemade recipe.

This is a must eat while in New Orleans. The food will blow your mind. It's so good It is not owned by one person but a board of people and the cuisine is black inspired and everything from food to plating is exceptional.

Delicious food for lunch at great prices. Definitely check it out either if you're a local or a tourist. All funds go to help young adults in hard situations to better their careers in the restaurant industry. I recommend the blackened catfish, collared greens, and Mac n cheese! I was a student at this location during 2017 and graduated. I was able to better my life from the training and love I received from them.

Waited about 35 minutes for my food. I just knew it was going to be delicious since it was such a long wait. Catfish: flavorless, and not as crispy as I like. Had to add lots of hot sauce and ketchup to help with the taste. Sweet potato: wasn’t sweet whatsoever & bland. I’ve tasted better at a lot of other places throughout the city. Collard greens: it’s a no for me. Crab cakes: they were decent. I DID like the gumbo!! I actually tried this place once before, and it was a lot better (especially the catfish). Also, they were out the sides I originally wanted which was Mac n cheese and potato salad.

Apart from the wholesome mission this restaurant has, the food is amazing! We had the incredibly delicious turkey neck, the catfish and the BLFGT sandwich and it was all super good! Would highly recommend!

The service was good for someone learning. They need to study the daily menu and have current knowlege of what food they run out off. I will be back earlier.

This restaurant has great food but the a few times there has been something interesting happening. Like, today, the system us down. I was asked to pay cash. Last time I was refused dessert, after my meal because the restaurant was closing. That helps me make a decision to return or not.

Getting some amazing food at Cafe Reconcile, a really neat place where they "transform the lives of young adults by encouraging personal growth, providing workforce development and training, and equipping young people with tools to achieve their potential." Highly recommend. Food portions were amazing for the cost. Absolutely loved the gumbo. The burger was spectacular, didn't even need dress it with anything else. The rice and beans was so filling. Didn't realize it came with sausage, else I wouldn't have ordered a side of it! Sooo filling. Will be back again soon.

A great meal just a short Uber ride from Canal street New Orleans. Gumpo was prepared by our server, the shrimp po boy was presented well and a huge portion. Jalapeno cornbread went well in gumbo. A winner all around!

Setting aside their very worthy mission, this is one of those rare places that you can tell every ingredient and everything done to it along the way has been studied and perfected and passed down, but comes together in a way that isn’t at all overwrought. Really some of the best, most artfully put together food I’ve ever had. I am really hoping to find a copy of their cookbook.

You can tell they are learning the ropes so go in with that expectation for service. I saw several people coaching in the moment....what a great way to get on the job training. Tip well! Incredibly delicious and an excellent program

Where to even start?? The premise behind this place is to teach and mentor youth. Add to that the food is amazing and you can see how they are a success... I highly recommend coming in for a meal, the catfish plate was fantastic and the jalapeño cornbread should not be missed! My wife had the fried green tomato sandwich with the sweet potato crumble, another great dish... Stop and meet the friendly and helpful staff, you wont be disappointed!

Delicious - we had the fried green tomato sandwich, gumbo, sweet potato crumble, mac n cheese and fries. All highly recommended. Friendly service, a lovely environment, and very good vibes. All for a good cause, too! Can’t recommend enough.

Wonderful experience- friendly, fast service, amazing food, giant portions, fantastic prices and nice atmosphere. A co worker brought a group of us there and we were just all super impressed with everything and their mission. Can’t recommend enough!

The fried green tomatoe sandwich with bacon was too salty. The bread, which is corn bread was ok. Potatoe salad was bland. Co worker had fried portobello mushroom sandwich on french which she enjoyed and watermelon lemonade which she loved. Sauce for bread pudding was gritty, sugar not cooked properly.Service was great and pleasant atmosphere with easy parking in their lot.

Cafe Reconcile is amazing the atmosphere, staff & food exceeded my expectations! Had the Lentin special the flavors are beyond words, highly recommend.

The shrimp po boy was really good (the batter was just right, and they use quality bread from a local bakery). I highly recommend the banana foster bread pudding as well.
