Very nice place to enjoy a meal.

This place is authentic Portuguese... Delicious Steaks, Whole Fish Bronzino and I love their Ribs ... Ribs are Meaty and Juicy loaded with smokey flavor...

I made reservations for Father's day and was disappointed with the food and service. We arrived early and although there was plenty of seating they made us wait. It didn't stop there after our appetizer was done. we waited almost an hour for our dinner. We were told by our server who was very apologetic they were tending to two parties that arrived. . Unbelievable ! In order to make up for this they gave us two drinks on the house. When we finally got our dinner. It was horrible the rice was hard not cooked thoroughly, the veggies were cold and for the entree the codfish with onions and peppers, the pin bones were left in the codfish a choking hazard. I will be fair the Portuguese sausage was good and the chicken in garlic sauce was good as well that's about it. The hostess was dressed inappropriately as if she was hanging out with her friends. I found it unprofessional . I will not be going back.

The waiters and Ana couldn’t do enough for us.. our ginger ale was never empty.. food was on time piping hot and delicious! A must if you want authentic Portuguese food 👍🏻

Called for reservation and received an e mail confirmation When our party of 6 arrived they had no record of our reservation Our written proof meant nothing as they had no available tables The manager didn’t care and shrugged his shoulders and did absolutely nothing but make excuses. Not even an apology or a future dining good will gesture We left and will never come back I would never recommend a restaurant who doesn’t care about their customers

Last year, I came with my husband to celebrate our anniversary and we had a pleasant dinner. Today, I came to celebrate my birthday with my family and we waited an hour to get our meal. Waiter came said our entrees would be a little late because he didn't get the order in the kitchen and they had a party going on. We told waiter we were celebrating my birthday. I didn't care for the stuffed shrimp; too much stuffing. Waiter after dinner came to offer one free dessert or after dinner drink for $180 bill for a party of 4. Really should have taken off one of the entrees off the bill.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years, but tonight was thoroughly embarrassing food presentation. Ordered the Bacalhau a Gomes Sa and not only was it not traditionally made, but it was thrown together with left over ingredients. Sadly the Portuguese traditional food I used to love so much has fallen short here, time and time again. Apparently it seems they have replaced the Portuguese chef with cheaper labor that aren't even Portuguese!! For those who post on here that the food is good, it is, but most of you have NO IDEA what traditional Portuguese food is because you've never been to Portugal! The staff is always attentive, especially the hostess Lara, but the kitchen needs an overhaul. Hope you guys improve, your regular customers deserve better!!

This was my first time there. The food was delicious and the portions generous. I am definitely going back and will recommend them to my friends. Edit: went there a second time. They did not disappoint. Not only the food was delicious and the portions generous, but the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Easy parking being they have there own lot I suggest making reservations I arrived early didn’t have to wait but by the time I left it was a full house all tables taken Excellent service very attentive to your ever want… Sangria was one of the best I ever had for our main dishes we had cataplana was amazing loaded with fish and also pan seared cod was phenomenal huge portions as well couldn’t even dent it took most of it home overall extremely satisfied and I highly recommend going as you will not be disappointed bon appetite

Food wasn’t terrible. But over priced. On top of that, I went to take the rest of my food home. Whoever packaged my food to go did a TERRIBLE job and now my 80 jacket is ruined along with my pants. I’m covered in sauce and now have to shower and scrub my clothes out and pray the stains come out. I literally still smell like the food that left me drenched in condiments spent on an almost 400$ meal. Will absolutely never return.

I was here 2 weeks ago and things were fantastic. I ordered the cowboy steak and it was great. Came back on Valentines day and what a waste of time and money! I ordered the cowboy again which is not cheap to begin with and I ordered it medium. It came out to me well. I sent it back so they could refire a new one. They brought it to me sliced. I didn't ask for it sliced and my first one wasn't sliced. It was like the cook couldn't figure out how to cook a steak and sliced it to be sure he was cooking it medium which came to me medium rare. The wife was done eating as i just sat there with nothing. The waiter said he was taking off a pitcher of sangria. The manager said he was taking the steak off and I got my bill with the steak still on the bill and 2 pitchers of sangria. We had 3. I say something he takes the bill takes the steak off and adds the other sangria on. How pitiful. I was very nice to the waiter and manager not making a scene or anything. I was very understanding with them but this is not customer service. Just know when they screw up and tell you something they go back on their word and pick your pocket one way or the other. We will not be back cuz this was just too disappointing from the money spent to the time wasted and on Valentines day no less.

This restaurant has always been our favorite place, great food 😋😋😋😋😋, BUT the service needs to IMPROVE, guys need to KEEP AN EYE on the sitting or waiting customers, DO NOT let them feel unattended, PLEASE!, again, just look around, it’s not a big deal. You could get 5 big stars, if not for that really minor issue.

We had my husband’s 60th party there last night in the banquet room for 80 people and it was wonderful. So accommodating from start to finish, great food, nicest staff, beautiful room. I highly recommend a large party there. See Tony he is excellent.

This place is so great. Great atmosphere. Wonderful fresh food. There is one particular person that always goes above and beyond. Makes us always come back such a delite . Very polite . His name is Jacob.

Menu has a lot of good/different options. Food is pretty good, but to me, not as good as some other local places nearby. Service was not the best, but got the job done. All in all, a good place for a good dinner.

Unfortunately not the experience we were hoping for. We were seated as a Party of 2 and were brought our meals 40mins later than a party of 6 and a party of 3 next to us. After finally asking when our food would be ready, they checked, and miraculously 2 minutes later our steaks and sides arrived to the table but cold to the touch. Just sharing our experience. Wont be back but im sure they’ll be fine. Id rather just take the 35 min ride to Newark than wait for cold steaks.

First time eating here and it will be the last. Ordered Lobster w shrimp in a beer sauce which was $42. What I received in a pot was disrespectful! Three small shrimps and an empty Lobster shell with a mess load of onions and peppers. I had to pick up fast food on the way home! Waiter didnt even ask how the food was and my wife was glad he didnt because I was ready to say something. I decided to just let it go and never come back. Being portuguese I wanted to like this place. Go to the Fisherman around the block for better prices and better portuguese food.

Good food with big portions. It's more like a steakhouse, porterhouse, cowboy, ribeye and skirt steak. The meat was tender! Good appetizers, and good selections of seafood. The shrimps were a little dry and hard. Cocktails and desserts were not their strong suits. In general the place was fun and enjoyable.

Love this hidden gem in South River! The Mariscada and red sangria is to die for! This place is perfect for date night or any occassion. The atmosphere and decor of this place is quaint and authentic to it's roots, with details of exposed brick through cracked plaster and beautiful molding. The mariscada has so much seafood in it so it definitely fills you up! The steak comes on Terra cotta and is cooked to deliciousness; still sizzling when it comes out. The sangria here is my favorite! They also have a banquet hall area for big parties to rent. I definitely recommend this small but tastey place!

We must've been to a different restaurant from the rest of these reviews because no one at our dinner table enjoyed the evening. We came there for a birthday for 10 people. I honestly don't even know where to start... the wait staff were standing around the bar in the back more than they were tending to the tables. It took almost one hour to get our food. The rack of lamb came out cold so we had that sent back. The Caesar salad tasted old and like the lettuce wasn't even washed. Four people at the table tried it and all agreed that something was spoiled. I personally stopped eating because my stomach was bothering me. The wait staff kept forgetting one thing after another. We were there for over 3 hours and not because we were enjoying ourselves. Needless to say, this our first and last time at this restaurant.

I came to this restaurant for the first time with my friend. Me and my friend went to the bar and the bartender Carol gave me the best customer service I have ever received. She was so attentive to anything me or my friend needed and made our night one to remember. I will be coming back again and I highly recommend coming here!

Visited here on a Tuesday at 6pm. It was a slow night, which worked out well. The service was great and the food was very good. My coworkers from Rhode Island loved every bit of it. So many choices and they are all good.

After what was a sad day saying our final farewell to a family member, Campozino's was able to accommodate about 15 family members at a moments notice for the family style dinner. The food was delicious, the hostess and wait staff were amazing, and the atmosphere was just great. Definitely recommend and will definitely go back.

We had a family party here for about 24 people. They were very helpful in planning and the service was great. The food was soooo good a lot of family who had never been keep texting me to tell me how great it was. Great food and great staff!

Great food my number 1 place for porguese

All I can say is I do not have every photo documented because I enjoyed & ate it too fast lol. The Sangria is strong & flavors have depth. The Valencia Paella has alot of shrimp, very little chicken or sausage but it doesn’t matter because the serving can easily feed 3 people and the flavor is perfection. I could eat the garlic shrimp app everyday. The octopus is cooked to perfection; they get the char marks and despite the tentacle being thick it is cooked through and not overdone. Fried calamari is the only thing I’ve had better and could skip.

The Easter Dinner Buffet here is outstanding. This is already one of my favorite restaurants, and now I have another day to look forward to!

First time. It was really, really good. Service was great!! I don't eat meat, the waitress made a great suggestion, I was not disappointed. Sangria was worth v every last drop!

My food wasn't prepared to my satisfaction. The fish I had was full of bones and the entire dish was very salty. The appetizer which had chorizo with onions and peppers under the mussels was oily and the chorizo was very fatty. On the positive side the mussels were enjoyable

My husband and I have been going here for over 6 years now. We’re originally from up north jersey where you can pretty much find a Portuguese place on every corner, so this is reminds us of home. We have brought all our friends & family here over the years. The food is excellent; it’s food that is made to order and tastes homemade. Ive never had a bad dish, never received cold food and the sangria is PHENOMENAL. I have gone with large parties and the staff has been attentive and they generally like to bring the food out all at once so you and your party can eat together. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You’ll thank me later.

On a Saturday night, party of six. Wait staff accommodating but food service took more than an hour. A bronzino could not be filleted because it would take too long - REALLY?? After waiting more than hour for food - which overall was mediocre. Very disappointing for us and our friends.

Stopped in for a little grilled pulpo and a glass of Sangria. Served on a clay trivet so anything greasy drips off and into a container with fabulous veggies... Heavenly

Had my 40th birthday party there for around 60 people. Food was delicious and there were only one server. No people to put jar of sodas on the tables. But overall, they came out and removed dirty plates, and all. Nice place, clean, quiet, has a small parking lot. But plenty on the streets and public parking next block.

Let me start by saying the food was very good and nice portions! We reserved a table for 8:45, and was seated with in 5min. Our server came to the table in about 5min took our drink order. When he returned we placed our dinner order. He did not return to our table until after 10pm once we informed another employee we needed our server. We asked himnto wrapped leftover and for a desert menu. He dropped off the menu and we didn't see him again. Lucky there was another gentleman who came over and took our desert order and my wife ordered an espresso. About 10min goes by and the gentleman comes by and asks if all was ok. I informed him we did not get our espresso. We see him proceed over to our server and yell at him that he never brought us our espresso. While the food was very good I would not return because of the lack of service. Our server only came to our tablento place our order, never came to see if we wanted refills or needed anything else. He only came back to the table when we had to request him to visit the table.

My first time at this restaurant. The food was wonderful. Our server was very attentive and answered all the questions we asked. Definitely will go again to try the many food varieties.

Filet was slightly overcooked, but that's fine. Rice and chips are delicious. Red sangria, very good. Cod is too salty. Service varies from lackadaisical to good depending on who you ask for something.

We did not have a good experience... the cod fish was very salty and small it should have been thrown back ...we had to ask for the bread,,they forget to bring water to wash down the over salty cod ..if I wanted potato chips with my dinner I would have bought a bag from shoprite,, we waited over 1 hour for the meal...next time I will drive the hour to plumstead grill and enjoy a great meal for the money

Food was worth every penny. You can see the love put in to preparing each plate. We have experienced many of New Jerseys treasured Spanish/ Portuguese dining experiences. But none have ever compared to Camponizo! From the beautiful Architecture and Decor . To the welcoming atmosphere. And especially the attentive smiling staff... You will fall in love! When you taste the food... You will rise to heaven itself!

The food was all great except the calamari was a little chewy. The food is a little pricy but the portions are generous. Nice place to celebrate a special occasion or just an occasional dinner. Our dinner was our wedding anniversary celebration. Our waiter Jesus was very helpful answering our questions about items on the menu and even making suggestions for us.

A group of 22 people contacted them about having dinner ahead of time! Got their at 6pm, did not get our meal till 8:03pm.. their response was , its a lot of food to cook! Notified ahead of time, pre selected short menu, my meal which was beef marsala, meat was very tough but good flavor, waiters were not on top of things and at $42.00 per person, I will never eat there again! I could of ordered from Ria Mar and recieved my meal quicker! Thats correct, $42 a head. Please don't feed me the covid thing!

One of our favorite restaurants, Campozino's never disappoints. The food and service, and ambience are outstanding. It is our go-to venue for celebrations. Held a graduation dinner there today and all was exceptional. (Unexpectedly, their chicken francaise is the best anywhere!)

Just a great experience. We haven't been here in years, since it had been a rodizio restaurant. Figured we'd give it a try, and we are glad we did. The prices are a little rich but you really get what you pay for in presentation, quality, and quantity. Jesus the busboy was a highlight of the evening. A very busy Saturday, our waiter was falling behind, and Jesus stepped up, grabbed the ball, and scored a touchdown! He was right there for drinks, water and any questions. Very knowledgeable about the food- we went with his recommendations and boy we are glad we did. Pork filet mignon, chicken cappuccino, and the stunning steak we're all winners. We'll be back

Hate to do this but tonight’s experience was just about the worst I have had in a very long time. Waiter was rude and nearly combative. I did not order a well done $40 steak but it was my fault. Spoke to the manager and he did not care either. I have been to this restaurant 20-30 times over the last few years and tonight they told me to not come back, even without saying it.

Unfortunately my family and I did not have the experience we were hoping to have. We arrived at the resturant for our 7:30pm reservation (4 people). our orders were put in by 7:40pm. Appetizers came out 8:26pm. Entrees did not come out until 9:30pm. When the Entrees did come out, they came out one entree at a time. So all of us at our table of 4 did not have all of our food until 9:45pm. (keep in mind, this is not an exaggeration, but the actual wait times) I understand a kitchen can get backed up, but our waiter did not tend to our table during that 2 hour span or kept us informed. We ran out of water, and after waiting a while we had to flag someone down. They didn't even refill our water, they just gave us a plastic water pitcher. For a resturant of this caliper ($30-$40 entrees), it would have been nice if they filled the glasses for us. Now the reason for the 2 stars.. My mom ordered a filet mignon cooked medium. After waiting two hours, her steak was served to her raw (not cooked at all in the middle). Rawer than a Pittsburgh rare steak, so we sent it back to the kitchen. The waiter offered a new steak, but at that point we were disappointed enough that we didn't feel like waiting for our food again. During this whole experience, not a single person on staff kept us informed or apologized for the wait time and raw steak. That's bad management. And only because of keeping us ill informed and no apologies, we're not going to be coming back here. Campozino, you can do better than this.
