We went here based on the reviews. We were seated immediately but we were there shortly after they had opened for dinner. I had the conch chowder. It was spicy and had a lot of veggies. Really more of a gumbo. For entrees I had the half portion of the crab linguini and my wife had the scallops. We both got the half portion which was about right. They were both ok. Nothing special. The price was good for what you got. Overall if you are looking for average meal at an average price this is your place. There are better options out there.

Service wasn't the best, but the foid was good

Our new favorite restaurant in the Juno Beach/Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter area. We ate there one evening, came back two days later and again less than a week after that, and we will continue to go try and different dishes. All the seafood is good, although the coconut dolphin bits one day were burned and the last time we had the dolphin it was a bit dry, the vegetables are nothing special just some undercooked broccoli and carrots, but everything else we have had has been really good, specially the clams, mussels and "Rocktopus". Also it is interesting that you can order the fish at different temperatures, rare, medium, well done, etc. Another plus is the wines by the glass, they are pretty nice wines reasonably priced. The ambiance is casual and the service is usually friendly and very efficient, last time our server was kind of disinterested, but the other servers have been good. Usually there is a line waiting to be seated, specially during peak hours and in season, better to get there very early or late.

Wow! What a wonderful meal. This place is unassuming outside but don’t let that fool you—it’s the best seafood we have had in years. It’s basically the seafood restaurant version of Cheers, the staff were all so friendly and the owners enjoyed their dinner perched at the bar while we were there. Prices were great for the area and the quality.

I love this place and all the memorabilia that's on the walls. Lot of history here and a lot of great food.

You will be hard pressed to find better seafood cooked to perfection. Oh and the cole slaw is to die for.

Great food and atmosphere. Locals start gathering out front before it opens. I recommend getting there 15 mins early. Gets crowded quickly after it opens. Full spread of a variety of fresh caught fish and craft beer. Parking can be difficult. Again, get there early.

It’s an excellent beach restaurant, the wait staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and there are so many choices!

Went today for lunch and it was great! I had the dolphin ruben and with someone who had spring rolls, both wonderful. The chef Krista was great and makes cooking look so easy. The whole staff is amazing and I believe this is the best restaurant for great seafood, casual atmosphere and wonderful service! Very well priced too. We will be back again soon!

Ate here 5 nights in a row on a work trip tuna was awesome swordfish was spectacular grouper cheeks was light out amazing Rocktipus was like did I just eat heaven the mussels were the best mussels I have had to date. not one flaw in any desert taylor and Warren were my service and they are top notch gentleman. The atmosphere is so up lifting but the food and service is so good how coukd you have a bad atmosphere.

Food is overcooked mussels and scallops like, clams taste very fishy, very disappointing drove an hour to get here, should have gone to McDonalds instead. Mediocre, not worth the money unfortunately.

I never thought if I saw this place from outside how it's busy inside, now I understand why food amazing, staff very friendly the oysters there are so delicious and fresh, I haven't eaten it yet, maybe it's because I'm from New York. Definitely come back and recommend to seafood lovers

I walked in bar and dinner andsgarky started yelling at me Qnd told me I had to go 3 doors down to order I said I was getting food to go then I said I'll eat here and he told me he wasn't playing games. All u did was ask to order Food and he just kept saying stop complaining andrhrn told me he wasn't serving ne to get out. I'm in shock

Great place where the locals go. We enjoy lunch where the portions are smaller, the food is always great. We go here whlie on our beach trip and have made sure to go 2-3 times each trip. We have gone 12 consecutive years in a row !

My fish tacos were greasy, had no flavor and had no visual appeal. Guess the chef forgot that we eat with our eyes first. Sorry but won't be going back. So many other restaurants to visit.

Honestly, it's one of my best dining experiences ever. Unpretentious atmosphere, friendly first class service and of course great seafood. It was very busy and bustling at 6pm but we walked in were seated right away at a table. Our server knew the menu well, didn't rush us and then brought out dishes sequentially so not everything came at once. I grew up in coastal New England and know and appreciate good seafood and Captain Charlie's is top tier. The menu was large with many special seafood items to choose from ranging from small plates to full meals. The full range of fresh seafood options were available at reasonable prices. The wine list was also impressive. On the way out the friendly owner talked to us, asked where we were from and thanked us for coming. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can't recommend enough.

Oysters and crab cakes were amazing. Shrimp and grits were flavorful but were really runny. Overall the service was quick and I would return!

Being a local we often go to Charles Reef Grille. It is the original and one and only. If you are looking for fresh seafood , there are no better in South Fla. Staff are always nice and service is consistent and good. Lots of options to choose from but our favorite is the Tuna with Asian noodles.

Decided on dinner here based on recommendations from two friends that had visited the area. We were not disappointed. Situated in a small obscure strip center, this is someplace that you might overlook, but it has an overall local vibe with casual feel. The chowders were wonderful, our entrees of the mini crab cakes and the triple tail with cornbread muffins were delicious. We had been told that most nights there is a wait, but we walked in on a Wednesday night at about 7 and could wait about 15 minutes for a table or take a seat at the bar immediately. We chose the bar and had Warren as our sever. He was a delight, did not rush us in any way. Wine selection was awesome and the menu was handwritten with a huge selection of dishes. We will definitely go back when visiting the area again.

I wish I had taken photos. This place is obviously a local and VERY popular destination. We arrived at 530 and we had to wait 35 mins for a table and it was busy. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service. Seafood was really good and the atmosphere was really energized. We ended up talking to some of the locals sitting either side of us which was fun. Will definitely go back and will get there earlier next time.

Everything is ok except the front old lady was rude and mean. It’s too bad for the first time experience.

An establishment in Juno. One of the best place to eat fresh seafood. An unassuming place, friendly service and an extensive menu with daily specials. We also like that they have small plates that’s perfect for us without needing to have leftovers. Shoulder and off season are the best times if you don’t want to wait for a table.

The blueberry tuna is by far the most interestingly delicious dish I have ever had. I order it every time and it never disappoints. Charlie’s is a staple in the community. Always recommend it to friends and family when they come into town!

Always a delicious meal. I absolutely love the crab cakes. It’s really all I order at Captain Charlie’s. Lumps of crab meat in each cake. The coleslaw goes well with every meal. It’s a bit loud and noisy, if you do not mind that type of ambience. A cold beer or glass of wine and the noise fits the atmosphere. This restaurant is a must to dine if in the Juno/Jupiter area. It’s reputation for great dining is spoken about up north.

Try the whole snapper….and then once you’ve done that try the lobster/scallop Mac and cheese! And then when you finish that….order the peach, mango apple cobbler! And then,,,,,,come back for more! I definitely will!

Very old very unusual for the area...but excellent choice

Delicious, delicious seafood. A surprising find in a little strip mall, but this seems to be known locally as the best seafood restaurant in town, and the food did not disappoint.

Took my order 20 minutes later said they couldn't make it after I spent a ton of money there over the years I don't know what happened to the reef grill but it went downhill fast poor communication between staff and the cooks they have no clue what they're doing anymore

Came here for my son’s birthday dinner. The hostess balked because we had a baby stroller with us Put us on waiting list and never called us. Ended up having to go somewhere else. Too bad because my son really loved the grouper here. We won’t be back!

What a gem in Juno Beach/ kind of an old school place, wood paneling, Tiffany lamps, golf flags, lots of tchotchkes, etc. There is a line out front every day and when you eat here - you know why! Impressive hand written menu with an equally impressive list of local and fresh fish for the day - with some creative preparations. I had swordfish au poivre (which is one of their staples)- which was outstanding. Big piece of fish and an amazing peppercorn/cream sauce. My wife had snapper with a spinach/creamed corn base - which was also super . Good selection of appetizers (Stone Crabs!), salads, oysters, etc. as well a good wine list and draft beer. Place was packed at 8PM on a Monday night - and you can hang out in their ‘lunchroom’ just 2 doors down - basically a bar with tables - while you wait to be seated. If you like fresh fish in a cool, authentic local setting - you won’t be disappointed with Captain Charlie’s!

First visited thirty years ago and the quality of food and service hasn't changed. Excellent!

This place has been our family favorite for 15 years due to their exemplary food quality and we were suddenly disappointed the other night. Ross the owner wasn't there or I would have discussed it. My wife and I ordered identical items we usually get. Blackened grouper over fettuccini. . Hers was a thin smaller cut from the belly ( she is a quite regular fish cook) served with less pasta (a few strands), and vegetables in an obviously smaller plate than my own. Amazing. she is a smaller women yes but she has a good apatite and came away hungry. Understandably difficult times, especially for the restaurant owner operator but changes like this are abruptly obvious and it breaks our hearts to place this restaurant up for reconsideration to our hit list. Keith Hernandez certainly did.

Absolutely 1 of the best hole in the wall restaurants I have ever been to. Sat at the bar and was so impressed by the employees. The food was amazing and wine selection is through the roof. Grouper cheeks were awesome and the golden tile was just like butter. Ask to sit in Warrens section and you will become part of the neighborhood. Love, love, love. Will have to make this trip more often in order to eat the other amazing dishes.

We went for dinner and for lunch. We had wonderful seafood. Shrimp and grits were amazing. Lemon shrimp also wonderful.

The food and service was excellent. The seafood is very fresh and they give you a good size portion. They don't take reservations, but there is plenty of seating and parking.

Long time favorite seafood restaurant that doesn't disappoint. Lots of daily specials. Setting in an old strip mall and interior design could use a refresh. Go to their sister restaurant 3 Doors Down for lunch.

Lunch at 3 Doors Down. Great food choices. The chefs are amazing. Seafood Boulabase and a Mexican fish wrap were excellent. A side of 6 fried oysters were good. Beer and wine license. Good lunch value.

We like Capt. Charlie's good food and service. Fun atmosphere. Fun to eat at the bar and talk with whomever might be sitting next to you. Great wine selection. Full bar would be nice.

This was our third visit, and all visits were in the afternoon. They are opened 11:30 to 3 pm. Each time we had to wait to be seated. One time we got a table, and two times we settled for seats at the bar. Speaking with the cooks was fun. Food was good too:

If you could design your own local seafood restaurant, this is what you would want. Great fresh seafood, can take your own catch, super friendly staff, clean, and full of loyal clientele, for a reason. Very reasonably priced. Nothing corporate about this place and that’s what you want. The focus is the seafood, which can be grilled, blackened, fried, and sautéed. All to perfection. You’re not here for the sides. A huge thumbs up, highly recommended.

I had snapper, my wife had pompano and we split the apple, peach, mango cobbler desert. All were delicious. We have never been disappointed.

Arrived on a Sunday 10 minutes before they opened and were shocked to see a long line waiting to get in. Immediately told my wife this must be a great place to eat with the locals lined up waiting to get in. My assumption was correct. Started with the soup of the day which was broccoli shrimp cheddar which was just ok. Our table had the crab cakes, salmon, dolphin, grouper cheeks, and wahoo. I was intrigued by the grouper cheeks, and could not believe the flavor! Our meals were tasty as we got mostly local caught fish and were not disappointed by our choices. If you go, leave plenty of time as they will be packed (for good reason).

I figured the 45 minute wait was a good sign and I was right. We had 2 fish sandwiches and the dolphin dinner over potatoes. All were great as well as the TWA shrimp appetizer. Our server was good and our attending bartender during our wait was amazing. Funny side note, I had lunch there earlier in the day with my mother and found it less than impressive which is weird given dinner was amazing. Our lunch pasta was flavorless, the lobster was mooshy and inedible and the scallops were literally the size of my pinky nailbed. I didn't even realize scallops could be harvested at that size!

Waited an hour. We were next but they gave our table to others who needed a high chair and came later even though my wife is handicapped. Poor planning. Not worth the wait

We love this place! They make their own pasta from scratch and sauces, we love to sit at the counter and watch them cook. The vibes are very low key the food is delicious.

Not sure why this place has soo many good reviews. We came in and sat down, not a single waiter came to our table. So we just left. Other people/groups were also waiting with same results.

Lucked out in a quick wait for 2 seats at counter immediately in front of the 3 cooks grilling/frying. Friendly & recommended certain fishes that came in that morning. Hsbd ordered grilled grouper Reuben sandwich & I got the Dolphin Po Boy. Both terrific & we want to go back. Small crowded very busy place, super casual. The service staff great.

My server was a very sweet elder woman, the food was nothing to write home about. All dishes were overcooked. The manager was a horrible man with completely inappropriate behavior. I am a mother to two boys, my youngest just turned 2. I kept him entertained and quiet the entire meal and then he wanted to get up and walk around, we were one of three table in the whole place so I walked around with him keeping him out of the way and safe. He got excited and screeched a couple of times but I didn’t let it go on. The manager made nasty comments and faces from behind the bar and I just brushed it off. When my toddler screeched a third time I asked my husband for the car keys and proceeded to take my son outside, as I was already on my way out this manager decided it was appropriate to tell me that I needed to “control my kid” and I should have taken him outside before in front of the entire restaurant in an attempt to humiliate me and my 2 year old. Had he been polite and quietly approached me and asked me to please take him outside, I would have had no issue, but he had every intention to try to bully me and humiliate a young mother and a child. This establishment is not worth the money and is anything but family friendly and the management is a shameless authoritarian bully, I do not recommend to anyone, especially families.

one of the best wine lists for by the glass I have ever seen including Bern's ( better selections than Bern's and much better prices)- about 50 wines by the glass and many good selections like an Austrian Gruner, some good Napa Cabs etc- food is quite variable- crab cakes very good, tuna fair- not great quality- swordfish was served raw and not great quality- lamb not very good- if you are into wines then that plus some good food they have is well worth the visit. Desserts are all good as well- definiitely a bit overrated and atmosphere is like a diner and not some of the finest looking people but again if into good wines and order their good dishes then a very good place. Not gourmet food but a place worth trying especially if like good wines

Food was outstanding. Ordered off the “small plate” menu and sat at the bar. Food comes fast, so order a few at a time. The restaurant is very busy, but worth the 15-20min wait.

The ceviche was very fresh and the fish was great. The butter garlic pasta was a little heavy on the butter and the garlic a bit burnt making it a little bitter. Go for the marinara pasta instead.

We ordered takeout. They are quite busy so we waited a while. But everyone was mediocre at best. Nothing too special or memorable for me. Guac for the tacos tasted like old avocados. Calamari was subpar. Scallops came with fries and broccoli. $18 for 4 scallops didn’t seem like such a great deal for me. Overall not too impressed, but your mileage may vary. We probably just ordered all the wrong dishes

We staid overnight in Jupiter on the way to Miami just because we liked this restaurant so much. They have a hand written menu of about 40 fish dishes based on the catches of the day. I like the yellowtail snapper and get it every time I come there. My wife got the fried oysters. We were both very happy with our selections. Only wish we had ordered the small portions. Yellowtail snapper is the mildest fish I have ever eaten. I always get it sautéed. The waiter suggested rice and black beans with it and it also came with roasted vegetables. Got their house Chardonnay. Everything was perfect. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. They said it would be 45 minutes but took less than 20 to seat us. Went back two weeks later on the way north. Got the small portion this time so I had room for their homemade salted caramel icecream I

Such a cute local eatery! We came here straight from the airport and were not disappointed. The menu was creative and so many options to choose from. The flavors were well put together, with great, friendly service. I would definitely eat here again.

Very good. Locals love this place. Extensive menu. Casual atmosphere. They don't take reservations, last two times we went there was a manageable 20-30 minute wait. They'll split fresh fish entrees for you.

Check your take out order before you leave the restaurant. This is the second time we have been shorted. The container was there, but lacking the item ordered. They did credit our card when I called them, but this is twice in a row. Not sure we will return after 8 years as a patron.

Why is this place so popular? The food is awful. We ordered the special Bahamian grouper with rice and plantains. It came so dry and overcooked and tasteless. At $39 we complained it was inedible. Nothing was done. I had linguine with shrimp and scallops. The pasta was stuck together and over garlicky. Free bowl of Cole slaw that was all mayonnaise. I’m done waiting for bad food.

Heard about this place from a local. You could drive past it without even giving it a thought. Incredible! Extensive menu makes it hard to choose what to eat.

Captain Charlies was exactly what we were looking for - a casual place with excellent food. We have been disappointed at some highly rated places in FL where the seafood was dry or just not tasty. We loved all of our meals (bouillabaisse, fresh linguine with fruits of the sea, and blackened shrimp dinner), and the homemade dessert we split was exceptional (coconut rum banana cake with sea salt caramel ice cream). The wine list had some great selections available by the glass. We especially liked the option for ordering small dinner portions, which left us room for dessert and coffee. The only negatives were the long wait (45 minutes plus on a Monday night) and tables packed very close together, but if you expect that as we did, the small negatives are outweighed by the overall quality of the food.

What a great experience. Found out about this place from a local fisherman on the beach. At 6pm there was a long line up but we got in quickly. Great atmosphere, amazing selection and just a unique experience. Try the tuna spring roll and the oatmeal cinnamon ice cream.

This is my neighborhood spot in the area. I almost don't wanna tell anyone because it's a hidden gem. Soups change daily, all of them are good. The make a ton of daily specials plus the usual items, never get a bad meal here

A Florida native, living in London. Every time I return, straight to Captain Charlie's for the shrimp and grits. Never have room for the brownie thing, but looks incredible. Super friendly service and local vibe.
