Had jerk chicken and jerk wing plates, both were excellent. Food is cooked to order but it's definitely fresh. Service is really good, will definitely be returning to this location

FIRST TIME TRYING!!!! I had been hearing about this place and finally got time to check it out. It’s like a Caribbean market that sells food and other herbal supplements very clean place. The food was seasoned really well. I just never had curry goat before and not to say that it was bad or nasty. It wasn’t for my taste buds. That’s about all that I can say I will be going back, probably this weekend so I can give another review on a different dish. I can say that when I gave the plate to my nephew, he demolished it and said it was really good show. So I guess the place is good. I know they give you a lot of food on the plate and it was priced fair. The plate pictured was $12 (I think) My advice is to go and try it for yourself. I would love to read your review or reply after you do so.

This was my first time going here. The veggie pie was really good and flavorful. I enjoyed the cabbage, plantains, rice, and peas as well (veggie plate). Second visit- I absolutely love the veggie pie😋😋

Food and service is always on point! I go several times a month. They also have spices, seasonings and some different hygiene and health products! Check it out if you haven’t

I was a little apprehensive about the mini mart storefront, but the curry goat was spot on and the proprietor was courteous. I love finding a gem like this.

Best Jerk I have had in years! Very friendly owner/operator and a good supply of drinks and other staples from the caribbean. If I had a complaint it would be the bbq sauce that everyone gives you these days instead of JERK sauce on the side. Must be an American adaption. And I would have liked the option to have the fish grilled not fried. Still, You can't go wrong with anything here.

The curry goat plate is excellent and the jerk chicken plate is also great! Cabbage there is perfect!! Upon leaving I asked for a side of the curry from the goat dish to pour over our leftover rice we were taking home from both plates and that leftover rice is so delicious. Love the music, this place is unique. We will be back and plan to bring the entire family next time!

Limited menu, so go early before stuff runs out! Incredibly tasty and tender curry goat and sides. It's got all the tasty bits of meat, but that does mean you need to eat around the odd bit of bone. Hefty portions too!

Curry chicken /rice very very dry. I give a 3 rating because the store grocery had items I desired yet the curry Chicken and rice was very dry. My tip is I chose the establishment over others!!!

One oxtail, cut into several pieces, not really much meat. Bland food overall, definitely not worth the price…even with inflation. People saying this is the best Jamaican food they have ate must not have tastebuds.

Delicious! We had the oxtail and curry goat, very hearty plate made with good energy. Came with platanos rice and beans cabbage and the main course. In addition I tried the tiger and ginseng drinks they both definitely delivered. Support your local business!

the owner is so nice and you can call ahead and order and he will ask you what time you want to pick it up and it is always hot and ready

The food was great. Very flavorful and well seasoned. The owner was very nice and helpful. When I arrived it great to know that the food was being cooked fresh as I had to wait for some chicken to finish cooking. I was also able to pick up some Jamaican seasonings as it doubles as a small store. At a glance the serving looks a bit small but it was more than enough to fill me up.

Food was delicious and authentic. I ordered the oxtail I was not happy with the small portion for $20.00. Generous portions of rice & beans but for $20.00 I felt there should have been a reasonable amount of oxtail and there were more bones than meat on the small amount I received. I will return next visit to atea because the food was very good....I just no not to order the oxtail next time.

My first time there. The lady at the counter is so nice! Ordered the jerk wings. Cooked well, flavored well. Plantains were good, coco bread good. There is a little sauce cup that comes with the chicken, ima need them to bring the “heat”! Other than that, glad I tried them and will go again.

Y'all do yourself a favor and go! Best you'll find in a 70 mile radius.

Food is aways good we run a tab up everytime, I gave it 4 stars because there isn't enough tables and chairs to accommodate at least 5-6 ppl

DUDE!!! This place has real traditional island food!! I LOVE IT!! I had the jerk chicken and the meal was big! Chicken was juicy and full of flavor and the rice was excellent! If you want a taste of the Islands, look no further! I'll be back for sure!!!

FFFFFFIYYAAAA! SLIDELL LOUISIANA has a small gem that boasts a few flavorful dishes and have a limited menu. Day 1 I ordered the chicken plate and in it was hella great tasting BBQ chicken straight from the Q'r located right outside the front entrance. Day 2 I had to have more and so um yeah, you can guess what happened next! The chicken sat on a bed of brown rice, came with a special magic sauce, side of cabbage and 2 plantains 😜😜😜😜. This place may be small but definitely worth heading over just to get a taste of that oldschool backyard BBQ

There's always something on the grill when you get there, so it smells awesome before you even walk in the door. They have a traditional Jamaican menu. Everything tastes great! Love the Curry Goat.

My wife's family is from the Caribbean Islands and this place is legit! Very good curry (equal to my mother in law) and best Jerk chicken I ever had. The people are super sweet, and the little market is cool too. A local hidden gem. Try that Bread!!!!!

Excellent food, authentic Jamaican with great tatse. Also a lot of other Jamaican products and drinks sold here. Friendly staff. Excellent place. I only gave 4 stars because I feel like you should get a little more food for the price. Mainly the meat wise. One leg quarter of jerk chicken is 5.99. A little high but it is very good so I still support and will recommended to anyone.

Once You Pull Up, You Can Smell The Meat On The Grill. The Guy Smoking All That Wholesome Goodness Is The Same Guy That Greets You At The Door. The Jerk Chicken Is The Truth. If You're Up For It.., Add A Little Scotch Bonnet Sauce To Your Rice And Cabbage. There Was Literally A Guy In There Talking About Eating The Bones. Once I Opened My Plate And Took That First Bite, I Said The Same Exact Thing. Authentic Caribbean Food For A Modest Price. We'll Definitely Be Going Back There In The Near Future!

This place has the BEST chicken I've ever had! If you want your taste buds to dance in appreciation- this is the chicken for you! It's flavorful- a little spicy- and has your mouth begging for another bite! I get the Jerk wings, they are marinated and grilled. The sauce tho... It is so good! He serves it on the side, which is a good thing because I dip every tiny piece of chicken in it! We stopped just wondering what he served one day, not expecting anything great - we were in for a treat! I've never had Jamaican food before visiting here, but I hear that he is super authentic and that's what Jamaican food really taste like.. husband says it taste like you're sitting on a picnic table close to the water eating authentic Jamaican from a little ole lady running a restaurant out of a shack. We all know the BEST food comes from the humble small business. I'm very glad this man brought this to Slidell where it's only a short drive! He's also very accommodating. When I'm in a hurry I just call ahead and place my order to shorten the wait. He cooks it fresh all day, but if you have to wait for chicken to come off the grill you'll be pleased you did as soon as you take the first bite!! While the Jerk chicken is my favorite, the ox tails are also taste. If you're looking for a full meal, his "rice and peas" are a perfect fit! Maybe that's why it's the only choice.. along with cabbage and plantains. If you're a newbie like myself.. don't expect white rice with green peas mixed in.. which is what I thought I was going to get the first time. I was very pleased to find that it was rice with what I would call red beans and some type of meat. Almost a cross between Cajun rice and red beans and rice. While this description does no justice for this rice it's the only food I can think of to compare to. If you're still reading all I have left to say is what else do you need to know to know it's a great place to go and treat yourself to something "different". You won't regret it!

Picked up the jerk chicken dinner tonight. And wow. Just wow. It was amazing. I thought I was in Montego Bay again on my honeymoon. So delicious! The whole family enjoyed it. And the service was great. Super friendly. We will be going back here on the regular.
