Excellent service, amazing food, and the atmosphere, lighting, and general vibe is exceptional. Best Italian restaurant I've been to in this wonderful state, will be back many more times, and thank you for a great experience.

Might be the best Italian we’ve ever had! Have been several times and gets better every time.

We live right next door and finally were able to make it over for a meal. Service, drinks, apps and entrees were outstanding. I originally wanted the Casa Novello pizza but they were out so the waitress suggested the Marsala dish. 10/10 on flavor. We took the tiramisu for take out and and it’s another 10/10 on flavor. My partner and I have a new favorite place in Westbrook!

This was sooooo good! It was exactly the atmosphere that I want in an Italian restaurant and the food was delicious. We had the Butternut Squash Ravioli, the Chicken Piccata, the Chicken Florentine and the Pasta Alla Vodka with cream. Everything was spot on and I’d reorder them all. I will absolutely be returning!

We got the chicken marsala and the chicken florentine. Both were amazing. We dropped and and they were full, but they fit us in at the bar. The parking lot was full but lots of spots were nearby on the street.

A nice little neighborhood restaurant that has great service, a nice atmosphere, and pretty good food. We had eggplant Parmesan, meatballs, sausage, French onion soup, a garden salad, chicken Marsala, a Caesar salad, and bread. All were good, except the chicken was a bit tough.

Met the owner and some of her staff while we were painting her storefront. Kitchen was immaculate. Very nice decor. Comfortable seating, casual atmosphere with a bar. We were a party of 6 on a Friday night. Reservations recommended. We had multiple apps. All were excellent. Try the Veal parm. Leave room for desert.

They were fantastic to deal with as I had to change the number of people in my reservation 3x. The food is great!

Let me start by saying it was a girls night out. The waitress seemed very put out from the beginning. She made a sarcastic remark to my sister because we ordered water with our meal. She didn't like that we asked for separate checks. She said that we were a large party and they don't seperate. There was 5 of us. Since I had been there before, I knew there was a service charge for using a debit or credit card. They don't tell you about this until you get the bill. The food is good, but way over priced for pasta and bread and salad is extra. I ordered the Chicken Florentine, which comes with your choice of pasta with alfredo sauce or mashed potatoes. When I got my bill, I was charged extra for the pasta and there was a credit card charge on the bill. I questioned these charges and the waitress said the pasta charge is a standard charge, but it's not on the menu when you order. I asked for these charges to be removed, since I was paying with cash and I'm not paying extra for my dinner. The waitress told me she removed the charges and made me feel like she was doing me a favor. I wanted to say, but didn't. That it's illegal to charge more for using a debit or credit card without telling customers first. I loved this restaurant, when the original owners ran it. I also wouldn't mind paying the extra charges, if they were presented to me prior to ordering. Just be aware that the price on the menu, doesn't mean everything is included in the description.

My wife and I love this place, go often for date night. Best Italian food around, absolutely love it. Chicken Marsala is the best I have had! Will continue to frequent for dinner. Wait staff is great and live the Carrot cake for dessert.

A wonderful evening with friends. The staff are friendly and attentive and provided great service. Each of us had a different meal, all were uniformly delicious. Traditional favorites such as eggplant parmesan, lasagna, chicken marsala and a delightful addition to the menu - Mediterranean shrimp. Worth a visit if you are in the area, we'll be back.

Casa Novello knows how to make an evening special. I go with friends monthly so we can chat and catch up. The waitress is welcoming and attentive. The food is wonderful and they don't rush you out the door. The hardest part is to select what to eat off the menu.

Called for a reservation and thankful that we did. They sat us immediately upon arrival. Service was very good as was the food. The only downside was an appetizer special that was not well described and was a bit of a let down. The rest of everything else was very good. Would recommend to everyone and will be going back.

First-time visit. I sat at the bar and had the marinara spaghetti with a $2 tiny side of the house salad and an Italian margarita. Everything was very good, but I thought the prices on some of the items were high. The spaghetti entree could have had a small complimentary salad and bread roll like typical Italian restaurants still have, even in these expensive times. Nice old-school atmosphere.

The food was very good, my lasagna was very filling. The meatballs were delicious and the sausage were very tasty. I was disappointed with the garden salad, didn't consist of much but the housemade dressing was tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was decent, somewhat cozy. Prices were a little high but not unreasonable.

This is simply the BEST Italian food you will find in the Greater Portland area. The four in our party ordered four different entrees and raved about each being perfectly cooked and delicious. We also ordered three different appetizers that we equally delicious. Because this spot is very popular, I recommend you call ahead to make reservations or check availability.

The staff is great, the service was prompt and oh man, the Picatta was amazing. A real gem here in Westbrook.

The food was outstanding, and the service was friendly and on point. The atmosphere was enjoyable.

A wonderful place for a quiet dinner in a welcoming, cozy dining room. The staff is genuinely friendly. The food is classic Italian-American -- all the favorites, but, and this was key for me, prepared carefully and expertly. One telltale for an Italian-American restaurant is the pasta. If it arrives mushy, sitting on a puddle of thin tomato water, the rest of the ride probably isn't going to be much better. But at Casa Novello the pasta is perfectly al dente, with a rich, tasty sauce. A good sign for the start of a meal that goes on to completely satisfy. The portions are generous and arrive quickly even when the room is full. Be sure to start with the Caesar salad; pleasantly surprised you will be. It's all the rich, dark green leaves of the romaine -- no tasteless white stems -- and perfectly dressed. Ask for some anchovies, too. They're lovely. The prices are entirely reasonable, given the costs of running a restaurant these days, with many entrees under $20. Been a couple of times in the last two weeks and this will be a regular from now on.

Simply phenomenal in every way possible! The food was delicious, getting 5 stars from each of the four people in our party - traditional spaghetti, meatball and sausage, chicken Parm and penne, eggplant Parm and a pepperoni pizza. That all arrived after appetizers of garlic knots, pork bellies, and deep fried Jalapeno raviolis that were very good. Even though we were all stuffed for the large portions we choose a couple of desserts to share. The carrot cake was about the size of the cake slices in Polyanna (classic old movie) and the caramel cheesecake was almost too good and too rich ... but we managed. (wink) It's easy to understand why there was a full house, even on a Thursday night. Our server was exceptional and on top of her game, always keeping our water full, removing plates after courses and happily answering questions. After dinner we took some time to enjoy the phenomenal holiday light displays at the park and in downtown Westbrook. Make your plans, get your reservations in. You won't regret it. If you can manage to make it during the Holiday stretch between Thanksgiving and New Years week, do it! (We were so busy enjoying our meals and conversation that I didn't take any pictures. Sorry.)

I have been to Casa Novello quite a few times and I have to say I have never had a bad meal, until last Thursday. We ordered a focaccia bread that was a special. There was nothing special about it. In fact it was cold I had a similar bread there before and it was warm. We placed our orders and it took quite a while to get our food. I was actually quite shocked as it wasn't super busy. I have always felt that the food that is served here is fresh and homemade. But that night our food was not homemade and just tasted like it was out of a box. Will this be the last time for me no I always go back. Because who know it could have been an off night!

I visited Casa Novello on a trip to Portland for a memorial celebration. I had never been to the area to stay and my hosts recommended Casa Novello. We had reservations and were seated immediately and had wine served quickly. It was warm, cozy and very packed. Despite the crowd the ambiance felt inviting. The food was delicious. I had a halibut and pasta special that was rich, tasty and paired perfectly with the house Chianti. i will return on my next trip to the area.

Hands down the best chicken parm I've ever had. Don't sleep on the meatballs or chicken tenders either, both are delicious.

Best Italian food if you can't drive the 10 minutes to Portland. Prices were on the high end AND you need to pay an additional 3% for paying on a card.

AMAZING FOOD! So good! We had eggplant parm which came with some pasta with marinara. We also got some delicious bread and tiramisu for dessert. It was very filling and the portions were huge. We had to take home for leftovers and it was just as good heated up the next day. The service was superb and the owner/manager was very attentive as well. It was a very busy night and we lucked out not having a reservation to get a free table, so I recommend making reservations if you're able to beforehand. It was also very loud with lots of happy, loud customers, but it was fun to people watch and see some of the locals. We are from Kentucky, so it was fun to see local Mainers enjoying fellowship with one another and terrific food.

My wife and I were not a fan, $100 dinner for 2, which we kind of expected, but the food quality seems to have gone down, our family hyped it up but it was kind of a let down. The staff on the other hand. Were super friendly and amazing

I’ve been a fan of Casa Novello over the years and have recently been in several times(had gotten out of sync during 2020-2021) I had forgotten how delicious their Mediterranean grilled shrimp is. I had it again last night, and that dish last night might have been my favorite Italian meal I’ve ever eaten. We got the butternut squash ravioli as an appetizer and rounded out the meal with a cappuccino. It was unbelievably good and I will be back for certain.

Absolutely delicious food and I think she was the owner she had dark hair and she was walking around asking everyone how their meal was and she was also helping out the staff, now that’s exactly how you run a successful business. The food is 10/10 homemade food I will definitely be recommending to others and I will be returning.

Personally, the true test of a good Italian restaurant is the ability to properly cook pasta (ok, a good bread is a close second). From a favorite locals place in Saco to a undeservedly raved about newer spot in Falmouth, few have proven they can properly cook pasta. Casa Novello is one of the rare exceptions, and their bread is excellent as well. With the atmosphere of a small neighborhood Italian restaurant, the attentive focus of a conscientious engaging owner, an attentive and professional staff, a menu that runs the gamut of the traditional to the inventive, cocktails and martinis to please the most discerning and desserts that proved themselves to hard to resist, for our tastes and liking, we have found a new favorite Italian restaurant in the greater Portland area.

Complete disaster. Served cold lasagna and warm wine. It's a shame that this was once a very nice Italian restaurant. Get rid of the bar and the room volume will go down. As with everything else.. the dollar is priority. Never return to this restaurant again. I did receive a response from Casa Novello today. My response is that I did let the server know about the issue surrounding the order. The server took the lasagna back and put it in a microwave oven. My point is this.. I left Maine for awhile and came back with my life partner, Christina. I took her to Casa Novello because my experience in the past was excellent. Best restaurant in Westbrook, hands down. When I first came here, I had in my head how much I love places like Leeward and Via Vecchia (and real Italian food)… I was pretty blown away how incredible all of our food was. It definitely tends toward the American-Italian, but in the best way. The sauces were great on everything, and really, everything was good. The service was top notch, and Karen was AMAZING with our toddlers and just so nice. The wine selection was totally fine, and the cocktails we had could have used some work, but we will try again. This place hits the mark. From the greeting, to the bread, the appetizer, and entree, Casa Novello satisfies. The hospitality was warm and friendly. No reading from a cue card here. They actually converse with you. Bread with a balsamic dipping oil was warm and fresh. Crunchy on the outside, warm and chewy on the inside. Appetizer of Fried Ravioli was perfect, with a tangy touch of jalapeño. Salad was fresh with all housemade dressings. My wife's pasta Milano was superb ( I should know because I ate half of it).
