I have been a long time patron at Casablanca. It used to be wonderful! These past few years it has gone downhill, but this last experience was the absolute worst. My family was in town for July 4th. Nothing else was open so we decided to go here. I was wary considering my last few rough experiences, but we went anyway. There was only one other table, but service took forever. Which is par for the course these days. We all ordered and waited a while for our food. Then, when it came out, items were missing. So, things came out one by one after that. We ordered a Turkish coffee that never came. When we got our checks the waitress decided to bring the coffee. I guess she realized at that time that she never brought it. We were all charged for things we did not order. My sister had multiple items on her check that weren't ordered. Not to mention they changed the price on an item from the price that was listed on the menu. It then took at least 30 minutes, and the waitress literally arguing with my sister, to get our checks resolved. She even went back into the kitchen (which is visible to the entire restaurant) and talked about us to the chef/cook. She was pointing and yelling like we did something wrong. We were friendly this entire time and were politely telling her our checks were wrong. The food was ok, but not as good as it used to be. However, being talked down to and overcharged is not something I can overlook. That was the last time I will step foot in the restaurant. We clearly aren't the only ones to have bad experiences because it is dead every time we have gone in there the past few years. I would be surprised if they are still in business for much longer.

Overall, great food! I went there two nights in a row. I would highly recommend the baba ghanoush as well as the falafel sandwich with the special sauce they have. Also, the eggplant sandwich is amazing!

I love their food and the service is always wonderful. The location has limited parking and restrooms aren't always fully stocked.

We ordered the chick pea soup, falafel sandwich and eggplant sandwich. They were all freshly made great tasting and very filling! The table sauces are to die for and we bought a couple of bowls to go. Very friendly and attentive service, including a friendly kitchen staff who interact with you as you enter and leave the restaurant. Only the interior needs a bit of tlc.

I usually really really love this restaurant They have a wonderful relaxing and beautiful environment with beautiful decor. The food is always top tier. The service always friendly and and attentive. However I got take out tn and was severely disappointed when I learned that I paid for the falafel platter and only got the falafel balls, no hummus, no pita (although I made it a point to have some) not to mention the falafel balls were nothing like when I order them while doing sit down. Weirdly shaped and burnt to say the least. Other than that one bad experience Casablanca truly is a wonderful restaurant. Update: the falafel balls were just as bad as they looked Old and tough

My favorite restaurant after living in Memphis for 10 years!

Got a lamb& beef shawarma and it was wonderful. The meat was moist, flavorful and had lovely crispy edges. They pile on the meat!! The portions are great and the spicy cream sauce that comes with it is amazing. If you're whiter than a paper plate in a snow storm and think black pepper is spicy, this will hurt you. For my spice fans, mix it in with your meat, you'll love it. The staff is very nice, the service is quick and the only negative to the place is the difficulty you have getting in and out of the parking lot which is not their fault at all.

Food is always delicious. The Moroccan soup is my favorite.

Casablanca was one of the first places I went out to eat when I moved to Memphis seven years ago. They continue to have good food and, of course, amazing tea. Love the atmosphere and the service as well.

Great food, great service and quick service!! This restaurant checked all the boxes! I was visiting Memphis from Houston for work, and decided to stop by and try a halal restaurant in the area, preferably one with decent ratings. Little did I know, I would be stepping into the oasis of local halal restaurants! Such a pleasure dining here for lunch! I was seated quickly and ordered promptly. As I was returning from washing my hands, to my surprise, the food was steamy hot and sitting awaiting company! WOW!! I ordered the shawarma plate with beef and lamb, it truly hit the spot.

My waitress was fine, but the food was not great - and I don’t think asking for tahini for my salad instead of their disgusting mayonnaise-dressing should cause such an uproar.

Dine-in experience is great. Food they cook there is marvelous. Now I’m not really a tea type of guy, but their best tea in Memphis(I think that’s what it is called) tastes really good, iced tea for the win!

This restaurant gets full marks. Don't worry that it's located in a strip mall. Everything was correct. The food was fantastic, staff was friendly and efficient portions are generous and the price was right. I had beef swarma, and my wife had the Falafel plate and we split a Jerusalem salad. All of them were very well done. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area and not looking for looking for fast food.

Great experience today. I dined in. The place was steady with diners. Customer service was amazing. My food was hot and flavorful. I had the chicken shawarma. Great portion size. I couldn't eat it all. The owner checked on me several times and had a great witty sense of humor. He made me smile. I had a very taxing day and the food, atmosphere, and hot tea made it just a tad better.

My manager just went to pick up food for us to eat and the restaurant forgot to give us everything we ordered and most importantly they forgot our pita!!! When talked to Emily she didn’t give any help and only said he can drive back and pick them up. When he insisted they send someone to deliver it she hanged up the phone in his face. Bad customer service!!!!!

Always Enjoy wheater dinning in or carrying out. I love the lentil soup, tea, and Grill chicken salad. Also the chickpea humus among other soups, foods, and salads we've tried ooh the salmon salad is ooh so great. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Oh my goodness, when you say great food, Casablanca is where it is! Fantastic, flavorful food and such a great atmosphere! Oh my, we are so full and will definitely be back! Plus, we got to meet the owner, who was absolutely the sweetest. I definitely suggest the chocolate mousse. The pastistia was fabulous cold hours later. This is a terrific dish. Also, never have I had falafel be so smooth, oh my word. I heard their house oil is fabulous, and I had it on their hummus, and I have to say it is fantastic. It's for sale too!

Best hot tea in Memphis, wonderful Mediterranean food. It's a great restaurant for any occasion, business lunch, a date, or family night.

I recently went within the last week with another female friend. The owner was very accommodating to make sure that we were able to park safely to enter the restaurant and we were welcomed in. Food was great and they really did have the best tea in Memphis. BUT our server, decided it was appropriate to change the tip given on the receipt. My tip went from being 50% to over 130% of my tab. This is completely unacceptable, and this is STEALING money and fraud. Unfortunately, I will be returning to this location due to her actions.

Maybe it was good before(so many reviews). I went there in January, 2024. Being a Mediterranean food lover, I found their food pretty average to be honest. Their service was good.

It's one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis. The tea is exquisite. The shwarma is the best I've had. Especially with their ultra smooth hummus and the sauces.

This place is always a delight! Food is consistent and delicious every visit. We’ve never had a bad meal and Memphis is lucky to have this local family right here in our very own back yard.

This was a good, basic Mediterranean restaurant. The food was quite good, the service reasonable and the atmosphere was alright. The tables were a bit sticky, they didn't have soda water and I had a little trouble communicating with the waitresses. All in all, I enjoyed it.

The Casablanca chips are amazing. I often get the Salmon Sandwich with fries. The hot tea is probably the icing on the cake of the entire experience.

For many years, this has been my favorite restaurant. I have made concessions for their various issues over the years because I loved supporting a local business with delicious food. It has been the place I always tell out-of-towners that they have to check out while they’re here. However, my most recent experience was my last straw and sadly we will never be back. For a few months leading up to this experience, my husband and I noticed that every time we ate Casablanca food, which we have done faithfully once a week since we started dating, we would become so sleepy that we couldn’t stay awake no matter the time of day, and have stomach issues. This was a drastic change as I’ve personally been eating there once a week since 2015 and had not experienced this until 2022. The quality and freshness had also notably gone down, but that seems to be across the board in Memphis so I don’t hold that against this restaurant. However, I do hold my last experience against them. We rarely eat in the restaurant so I always call ahead and go pick it up. Over the years, there’s been about a 50/50 chance that they’ll answer the phone, so I usually start trying to call as I’m leaving my house. It takes me about 20 minutes to get there. This time, they answered on the first call, but I was promptly put on hold. This is also normal, and also fine. For the duration of my twenty minute drive, I was on hold. When I pulled up to the restaurant, I anticipated the craziest 4:30 dinner rush I’d ever seen, or maybe some emergent situation had occurred. You know, something that would explain being placed on hold for twenty minutes. When I walked in, still on hold, I saw exactly one table of people dining in, no one in the waiting area, no phones ringing, and two people at the register. It’s important to note that this is the second time I’d been on hold for my entire drive. The first time, I just let it go and didn’t say anything. But after months of sketchy food and walking in and seeing absolutely no reason for this wait time, I said “I’ve been on hold for twenty minutes just trying to place a pick up order.” The girl at the counter (who was truly doing absolutely nothing when I walked in) said “I’m the only one here. I can take your order now.” ??? I've worked customer-facing jobs my entire life and, especially in a post-2020 world, I have experienced being the ONLY person available or present. I get being short-staffed. But there was absolutely nothing happening in that restaurant. And given that my call was STILL on hold as I walked in, and she was simply standing there at the front desk, she had clearly decided not to take any to-go orders. And on top of that, instead of saying something radical like “I’m sorry, I forgot” or “so sorry, we’re swamped” (not that that would’ve been true), she just threw out a lame excuse. Very sorry to say goodbye to what was my favorite restaurant for so long, but Ali Baba has been a wonderful replacement with fresh food that doesn’t knock me out (and is cheaper), friendly and quick service, and online ordering. Oh and we learned how to make the tea at home.

Not what it use to be. Food still good.

The food was pretty good and everyone was pretty nice but not especially inviting. We didn’t get our food until everyone else in the group was done eating. We had to get to-go boxes immediately upon getting our food. All that said I will be back and anyone seeing this review should definitely try this place out, this is just my personal experience, I’m sure it was a fluke.

Good food, great tea iced or hot.

I'm giving the service 4 stars instead of 5 because when I walked in after work was obviously a shift change. The server at the register saw me come in but did not acknowledge me being there until after someone in the kitchen asked if there was anybody there to help me. Let's just say a new server came out, and she was the best. The food was excellent as always. And you must order Memphis' Best tea. It is delish, especially if hot.

I am sorry for the bad rating, but i really feel that this place made me feel very uncomfortable. I went to this place with my family and 2 friends hoping to have some good food. To begin with, we were seated on a small table in the center and were provided a plastic pouch with plastic spoons and a napking in it. I was there for a dine-in and not to take a togo order. Then to make it worse, they did not provide us with side plates even after serving the appetizers. We even asked for it but still did not get it. And finally, what disappointed me the most was that they were giving steel spoons and forks for all other tables. I really did not understand why they treated me differently. By the way, they even included an 18% tip in my final bill not giving me an opportunityto express my disappointment. Not sure if adding a tip to the final bill without the consent I'd even allowed? Although I don't have any complains on the food the experience was horrible. So, I don't think i will visit this place again.

We obviously had too many in our group and overwhelmed them. The food was ok if you like that type of food. The service was really bad. Took 2 hours and it was not busy in there, at that my mom and sister didn’t get their food in that time. And still charged them!

We had an opportunity to go on a date without our children and a friend suggested Casablanca. We really enjoy Mediterranean food, and we were not disappointed. First, dessert. We got the baklava, because... baklava! This was log-shaped with a center full of nuts you could actually taste, and not overly sweet. Baklava can be super syrupy (and we're not opposed to that) but this was a lovely change from what we were used to. Husband got the beef & lamb Shawarma sandwich and loved everything about it. The meat was perfectly prepared, and the ratio of veggies-to-meat inside the pita was spot-on. I got the Egyptian Hawawshi (chicken version) because I've seen it pop up on social media but had never tried it before. Ohmygoodness > phenomenal. The pita was toasted to perfection, while the meat was tender and juicy and so incredibly flavorful. Husband took a bite of Hawawshi and claimed my leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. HA! The portions are generous -- definitely worth what you pay. And the service was some of the best we've received over the past several years... knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. We will definitely be back. PS: try the tea. SO good!

My wife was told this is best Mediterranean in Memphis. So decided to go on her birthday. This was the worst Mediterranean I've ever had in my life. Beef and lamb were completely inedible. Server never once came to check on us. Still left server 30% will never step foot in there again.

Very delicious hummus and shawarma, and the tabbouleh was fantastic. The iced tea was very flavorful; not typical southern US tea but authentic Mediterranean/middle eastern style. Decor was charming but a little dusty.

I had a call in order on Tue 8/22/23 at the Poplar location for the Shawarma Platter. I'm highly dissatisfied in the level of customer service I received from a male at the register. He had a low fade hair cut. The way he treated me is unacceptable & I will not be returning. Upon checking me out, I handed him my card, only for him to place my card on the counter when I was reaching for it. HOW RUDE & unmannerly. I was baffled but kept my composure. I asked him for a receipt & he proceeded to do the same but I quickly grabbed my receipt from him. I'm not an animal, & even if I were, kindness & courtesy goes a long way. I don't know if he had an issue bc of my exterior, but you don't treat supportive customers like their business means little. I've eaten at this location quite a few times & have never experienced this. I won't discredit the taste of the food, as I am always well pleased, but this type of service will run people off. I should have just asked for a refund in the moment this happened, but I had been craving this meal for a while. Also, this guy didn't even thank me for my business, he rang me up rudely & walked off. I'm quite diversified in food & creating dishes, so I'll just cook my own going forward. I want others & whoever the Owner is to be aware of the tone that's being set for your business. Lord forbid if he was the owner.

Omg!!! The absolute best!!! Came to Casablanca for a friend's birthday dinner and got a real treat. Literally everything they make at this location is good. I had the tea (hot) and just wanted them to bottle up five gallons so I could bring it home with me. The food was delicious and seasoned well, the sauces were amazing! I especially liked the spiciness of the green one. The staff is friendly and super polite. Everything was reasonably priced. Making this one of my regular spots. I wish I lived closer so I could go everyday!

This place is number one for me when it comes to salads. I keep telling everyone to get the shawarma salad and make sure they give you the two sauces that comes with it because it can make or break the salad if you don’t have them lol. I love it so much! They’re always nice and my food is always fresh and good. I wish they had one in Chattanooga or Atlanta now since I’ve moved.

First time for Mediterranean food. Enjoyed the meal.

It has the traditional middle eastern sandwiches, made with pita and stuffed with the meat of your choice. The Shawarma is well seasoned and it is a good mixture of beef, lamb and chicken. You can also order a one kind of meat Shawarma. The lamb by itself is juicy and very tasty. If you like meditarranean cuisine then you will love this place.

I loved the cheese things enough to give this five stars, the guy that served us was really nice, I broke a plate and they were nice about, would go 100 times over just for the cheese pita things

Pretty disappointed after all the great reviews. I got the Egyptian Hawawshi. They may have just been having a bad night, but my pita was over cooked and I expected a little more for a dish that is $13 and doesn’t come with a side. 🫤🫤 We didn’t like the sauce that came on the super sandwich either. Hummus was decent, but fries were cold. I really liked the sauces that came on the side of the Egyptian. We may give it another try but not sure.

My family group(8 ppl) went on an early Sunday afternoon. Service was slow and very impersonal. We received appetizers and no platters to use, which we requested multiple times. Having to ask for things multiple times was common. The philly pita was good, as were the lamb/chicken kabobs and hummus.

It was beautiful and quite comfortable. Casual wear. We went for lunch.

My fiance and I come here frequently, everyone is always very professional and friendly. The place is uniquely decorated and the atmosphere is great, and the food is absolutely delicious! Reasonably priced, as well.

We sampled a lot of different things, some we loved and some not so much but overall it was an awesome experience! Our waitress was helpful and friendly and we love the decor in the dining room! Great place!

Delicious food and excellent service

Good food always. They have good Morrocan tea served iced or cold and their lentil soup was great. Their kabobs of chicken or lamb are very good with the yogurt sauce and their tabbouleh is good. I have liked everything I’ve tried on the menu and I come here often. They can also seat a large group of people and I had a family dinner of 16 here once.
