Very bad staff. My sister and I have had a very bad experience with the staff the last three times we have gone. They have a bad attitude. The last time we went, no one came to serve us, and there were still 45 minutes left before closing. Everyone looked at us and ignored us. Good food but bad staff.

Went for my birthday. All of the food was delicious, the atmosphere is very nice. They have really interesting decor and chandeliers. The staff were very accommodating. It was cold with the AC blowing near our table so we asked to be sat somewhere else since we didn't have sweaters. The server was kind enough to turn down the AC for us. The dessert I got ... TO DIE FOR. The richest chocolate I've ever had in my life. I'm obsessed!

My birthday place every year plus more visits. Their scallops are perfect! Their “everything” is perfect. This year we went to lunch instead of dinner which of course was less expensive. No alcohol at lunch either!

This is a very cool spot! The atmosphere is unique and friendly. Our server was really good. Helpful with the menu and efficient at bringing us our food and drink. Lastly, the food was awesome! Almost every dish seemed to have some unique twist to serve something familiar in a new way. It was so hard to choose. In the end I enjoyed the duck confit and my wife enjoyed the filet mignon immensely. 5th visit: Sad. Everything was great! Except the Lobster Pappardelle. The Mint Pea mascarpone was the most creative and delicious dish I've had in the last couple years. The new way of preparing this dish is...boring!

I was in Providence and looking for a foodie fun place for dinner with a local friend. We had trouble with finding the entrance to the restaurant at first, but we made it. Reservations were easy to make online and they have a very detailed website. The food was pretty good but not life changing. It seemed to be more on the milder side and was a bit bland. I wanted more flavor. I had the pear chicken, which was very good and my friend had a seasonal bass dish with gnocchi that they did not care for. The wine list was decent and I was pleased to find something by Caymus. My friend had a cucumber cocktail that they enjoyed. The best part of the restaurant was definitely the decor. It is crazy in there. There are animals and statues everywhere, as well as dozens of crystal chandeliers. It is very eclectic and strange, which we enjoyed. The service was good and the staff attentive. We felt like the people are probably what makes this place work. For the price, it's a pretty good value though a touch on the spendy side. I don't know that I feel the need to return here but I am glad we tried it.

I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while and I'm happy I've finally done it! The restaurant is just like its description. It is a restaurant in what looks like an antique shop....but a cool antique shop. My sister had the Brioche French Toast, and I had the special Filet Mignon tips and poached eggs with Hollandaise Sauce. The food was excellent! There is an outdoor option which we preferred because my sister brought her dog. They are doggie friendly. The outdoor area is beautiful! Highly recommend!

CAV is one of my favorites! In a town that has so many amazing restaurants I find myself continually going back to CAV! I love the atmosphere with the oriental rugs and antiques and funky chandeliers. I love the food with many gluten-free options- chive dumplings - to “die” for the servers have all been wonderful - they are knowledgeable on the menus and what wines go well with what you ordered

I just had my baby shower there today, and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had! The quality of the food, the ambiance, and the attentiveness were all outstanding. Most importantly, I want to highlight the service. Despite a busy Sunday brunch in half the restaurant, with a divider up, you wouldn't have known. The food for 50 people came out fast, hot, fresh, and all at the same time! Whoever runs that kitchen, please extend my gratitude to them and their team. Our server (I regret I don't know the name as my sister and brother handled the finer details) was exceptional. Having worked in the industry for over 15 years, I must admit I’ve never seen service of this quality, not even from myself. He handled over a dozen special requests simultaneously without mistakes, pauses, or anxiety. He was the calmest and coolest host, managing unexpected requests as if they were part of the plan. I truly want to thank the kitchen and front-of-house staff at CAV for creating a lasting memory for me and my family. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Came for our Anniversary celebration. CAV was one of the first restaurants we would go to when we first started dating 23 years ago. Beautiful atmosphere, great food, service was great as well. Went for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is beautiful inside. GPS sent me to the back of the building. Had the coconut shrimp. Nice presentation, but I've had better. Only 3 pieces. The dumplings were just ok. The bowl of lobster bisque again was okay, and I've had better. Not much meat. A little pricey.

First time here- how did we never know about this hidden gem!? Everyone’s food was delicious-bonus yum with vegan options!!) The service was excellent & the interior was warm and eclectic - like if friendly toast grew up. Will be back to try more food and drinks - one of the only places i’ve ever gotten dessert- coconut sorbet was devine. And we love a fresh flower at the table.

I recently took a trip to the CAV to try their Lobster bisque with some friends. From the second you walk in you are met with eclectic decor that sets the tone for what is almost guaranteed to be a great meal experience. Our waiter was attentive and informative. The Lobster Bisque, like the decor, was very unique as it’s made with Tahitian vanilla. It almost reminded me of a butternut squash flavor so if you are looking for a traditional bisque this may not be for you but definitely worth a try!!! The Florentine was also amazing. I will for sure be returning to try out their lunch menu.

I was most impressed by CAV; also surprised I hadn't been there before. I attended a baby shower and enjoyed the whole experience. The staff was so attentive and receptive to all the guests. I still can't believe the cake was made there. It was the best cake I've ever eaten. The food was wonderful though I think I missed out on the pasta dish I was hoping the chicken came with pasta not oven roasted potatoes.

Great food, slightly dismissive service when we asked about non-alcoholic mixed drinks. I realize founder was a long time and popular Providence bartender, suspect he would have come up with something wonderful that fit the bill. The food was terrific, and atmosphere is lush and overwhelming in a good way -- decorated with antiques for sale.

This is not the kind of place that has trendy new food. This is the kind of place that has been running the same dishes for 20+ years and removed all unknowns from the equation. Amazing spot for filet mignon with gravy on top of French fries on top of mashed potatoes. That feeling you get from a poutine that hits just right, but instead of poutine it’s a mouth watering tender steak. This is your place. I had a bit of an issue with a clueless busser who pretended to understand what we were asking for and then proceeded to not do it. I also received my steak underdone despite asking for medium, so they had to put it in for longer which made some parts a little tough. So be mindful of that. Other dishes are good too, the calimari is local and amazing (big though), and a seafood pasta I don’t remember what it’s called. It’s not as ridiculously expensive as you might think. All in all, you can get a delicious date-night dinner for 2 with two entrees, two drinks, and a shared dessert for ~$100. Not bad at all.

First time at CAV Providence and oh my - everything was delicious! They are known for their antique art decor - the entire place is decorated with fun, unique pieces and chandeliers. Started off with an old fashioned and a chocolate martini and both were delicious. The bread was from a local bakery - hot and crusty with whipped butter. Onto the sautéed Chive Dumplings with a balsamic reduction for an appetizer. Sesame Hijiki Encrusted Yellowfin Tuna and Grilled Filet Mignon with a lovely Cabernet for dinner and ended the evening with a Gateau Concorde sinful chocolate mousse tort with chocolate meringue - oh yeah! Both the tuna and filet were out of this world! And the staff were excellent! A shout out to Kimoy our server (every recommendation was spot on), Goo and Carlos the bartenders (very friendly and fun to chat with) and John the host. Free parking across the entrance in a large lot is a huge bonus! What a lovely surprise! It’s worth a visit!

Was a semi-regular in the 90’s and loved it. Recently moved back to Prov and very happy to say that CAV still has “it”. While Sylvie has passed, her son John and his team have kept the standards. Walking in from the courtyard is like walking into an antique shop that happens to serve food - much fun. Many of the waiters have been there for years, decades even, so even if not on a 1st name basis it is fun to get a nod from a familiar face. If the ambience and great service set the table so to speak, the food is the reward. The menu is very farm to table with an international spin. Two thumbs up.

This was the first restaurant I went to in Providence what, 30 years ago? The lush, Middle Eastern/African bohemian chic of the interior is still the chief attraction to this beautiful restaurant. The staff and service here are really wonderful and make you feel welcome. Drinks are excellent. Food is hit or miss. They're a bit stuck in the 80s, and they don't always knock it out of the park. Ask the server what's good. It's really easy to park here which is more than I can say for any place else in downtown Providence, so it's a great idea to start here and then move on for the rest of your day or evening.

I was expecting a fine dining experience, but I was disappointed. I ordered the shrimp cannelini with no shrimp. The top of the plate was just all beans. Underneath was the pasta. The dish had no flavor at all. For the price, it's not worth it at all. I could have made the dish at home with flavor and a balance of beans with the pasta, along with some color (maybe parsley or basil). I will not be eating there again.

my parents and i have been to cav MANY times. we have never been disappointed by the service or the food but the last time my parents went while my brother was in town they were met with terrible service. my parents are not the type to say anything about service but for them to notice the blatant negligence from the server as well as a difference in treatment from other customers that is inexcusable. learn to treat everyone how you would want to be treated please. y’all are very lucky i was not there to say anything.

It is truly a hidden gem in Rhode Island, offering a sophisticated atmosphere that elevates the overall dining experience. We started the evening with appetizers which were good. For dinner, I ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels over Capellini which was spectacular. However, when my husband ordered their 'signature' dish of Poulet aux Poires, the chicken was way too dry. The Gateau Concorde dessert was rather nice. The service was spectacular.

From the accommodating host, Jason, to the warm bartender, Carlos, to our attentive waiter, Cliff, dining at CAV was like meeting with old friends for a delicious (outstanding actually) meal in a shabby/sheik Asian-artifact eclectically dressed restaurant. It is a fun and fabulous place to dine. Had the artichokes (oh so good), the parpadelle pasta with a fair amount of lobster and the pasta florentine. All delicious. But there are so many interesting dishes on the menu, I can’t wait to go back! Spoke with a few other patrons. All were regulars who recommended two or three entres; all said they’ve never had a bad meal! at CAV! Worth the trip (from Western MA)!

Had great time at this restaurant. Make sure you have space in your phone for pictures. It is magical . We were lucky to be able to enjoy both decorations because we went on the last weekend of the Halloween Decour. And they had already started decorating the downstairs for Christmas. It is truly beautiful.

The poached chicken was dry and flavorless. I cannot see how it’s award winning. Maybe it once was. Definitely get the Sophia salad and the pasta florentine and you will love your meal.

Frientzdy is the best server I’ve had since I’ve been to Japan!! He was genuinely super attentive and was super quick with questions and requests. When you ask servers for things they usually take several minutes or forget, but he took less than a minute and was always quick and brought more than enough to make sure the table was satisfied which not many do! loved him he’s genuinely great!! The restaurants aesthetic was very pleasing and the statues were mesmerizing. Honestly the only negative thing I have to say about this restaurant is that I didn’t like how there wasn’t at least 2 more basic appetizers or dinners that most restaurants usually have. Or the option of fried calamari compared to what they had as calamari in the first place

3.5. the place is fun in its decore and the service was good but the food was subpar. We got a couple of appetizers where they seem to try too hard. The main dishes included a chicken dish where the chicken was overcooked a ravioli that was supposed to have truffle but the truffle flavor was overpowered by a green sauce. We also tried a pizza where the Gorgonzola was prominent overall other flavors.

Was looking for a nice spot to grab lunch with a friend while passing through Providencs. Found this online and SO glad I punched it into GPS! Felt like we stumbled upon a hidden treasure. So a fun, unique, cozy place. Loved the decor from the minute we walked in. They had no problem seating us and got a great table by the window. Whole experience was fabulous from service, entire menu, ambiance, etc. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Was our first time and really was such a great atmosphere. Host on sunday was more than welcoming. My friend and i sat at the bar while her and i admired the light fixtures and the solid wood fridge that was a beautiful. The service at the bar was so so and that's the easiest way i can explain that it definitely could have been better and the young man could have at least tried to smile. I got the french toast and it wasn't bad but i just wish that they didn't put the syrup on the french toast because they put way to much and it was practically swimming in syrup. My friend got the turkey sandwich and as she took her first and last bite she whispered to me that the meat "seemed slimy and smelled". I thought she may have been being dramatic so i checked it out and upon looking at it and smellingit this meat was most definitely not fresh it almost made me throw up from the smell and the slimyness. This was quite disappointing because it is a really beautiful location. We didn't even mention it due to the bartender being grumpy.

This was the place we chose after striking out everywhere else. My gosh were we impressed with everything about it. The serving sizes were large and well priced. I got the swordfish with ravioli for the same price as the duck or the lobster parpadelle. The drink menu was limited but was easily modifiable. I know we will be coming back there any time we head to Providence. International foods are quite a treat.

Omg this is the most unique place to dine!! It feels like you're walking into an antique shop and it is so cool to see all of the "artifacts" placed all around the restaurant. We went for brunch and the food was good - nothing special but it was yummy and I have a feeling it's more of a dinner place. I'd love to try dinner there too. Overall, loved the vibe.

We had a lovely brunch this morning for our first anniversary! Everything was great. My wife had a “perfect” espresso martini, the bruschetta was wonderful and we were both very impressed by the herbed roasted potatoes. Our waiter was very attentive and the food came out quickly. Love the funky vibe in there!

Such a great little spot. Very eclectic experience when dining in! The food has been top notch and every one of their waitstaff has been very wonderful. The prices are reasonable and their menu has great options. They have an outdoor area but I’ve never seen it open to outdoor dining - hopefully one day I can confirm that!

From start to finish this place was incredible. My husband and I are picky foodies and I’m gluten free. There was so much option on the menu for me I had a hard time picking. We grabbed two apps that came out fast and were incredible. 3 cocktails that we split, all amazing. Dinners came immediately after the apps and were on point. Desserts were also incredible. Atmosphere was wonderful and we were put up in this romantic little corner. Felt like it was just us. Next day, we both felt really good in our belly’s which meant the quality of the food met the taste of it. Highly recommend and we’ll be going back over and over again. Can’t wait to try everything else!

We have always loved this place and it’s unique decor, creative dishes, and always great service. We went on a Friday evening and were sat right away in a romantic cozy nook of the restaurant. We started with the long stem Roman artichoke hearts for our appetizer, absolutely delicious! My husband had the pasta with lobster and I had the sirloin special. We certainly didn’t leave anything on our plates, every bite was scrumptious! Can’t wait to go back again, we need to try everything on the menu!

My husband’s and I celebrated our anniversary at CAV this week. We went for a unique lunch experience and felt like we were transported mid-day to an exotic hideaway. The spaces here were intimate and cozy, our lunch felt so relaxed and our server made us feel like we were truly important to him. The menu is varied and clearly labeled for dietary restrictions, everything looked incredible. We ordered the Tuna Romano and Chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were served promptly. The portion sizes were large enough to need take away boxes and both meals were fantastic! We are hoping to get back for brunch and dinner service soon!
