Pizza was good and fresh. Took about a half. Only thing is the costumer service was kinda odd. From the phone with the quick hang up in ear from the guy up front , to the pick up. It just kinda made it seem like my presents wasn’t really welcomed. Idk ..it just was odd but the pizza was good… I’ll just talk lil better on phone and a nice engagement at pick up could make this be someone main place to come. Quick fix tho ! Could have been a rough Thursday!

Order the cheesesteak and a side of French fries, the cheesesteak was actually pretty good. It's just a shame that nobody knows how to mixing the cheese throughout. Instead of just having the cheese on the roll but why? As I was waiting the lady working the register and handling the money Apparently she's in charge of actually making the pizza, so she's handling money and making the pizza. I don't know. Maybe it's just me.

Best pizza in Claymont. My husband and I split a whole large pie and we never eat more than 2 slices! Amazing! Edit: now under new management, the once most amazing pizza in claymont (and probably the region, including NY) is just not good at all. It's sooo salty and the cheese is too chewy. I'm so sad 😭

Delicious , fresh it’s nice to get what I order I’ve tried so many local pizza shops n finally found one that I get exactly what I order n it’s always so fresh . Everything I’ve tried here has been top shelf ! Very pleased

I love their bbq wings well done with blue cheese and fries and my husband loves the meatball pizza with garlic sauce. Its so yummy. Also the blond woman who works at the front is fabulousss!

After reading reviews, I had to try the cheesesteaks. Both the cheesesteak and loaded fries were outstanding. And, the staff could not have been sweeter. They chatted pleasantly with me both on the phone and when I picked the food up. They definitely have a regular customer in me!

I really enjoy the pizza here but the customer service, not so much. I called to order and the guy who answered the phone sounded annoyed. He takes my order and before I could say anything he said "20 minutes" and hangs up. Being a little nicer to customers goes a long way

I will never go back. Called my son a liar all because they messed up my order. Food was lousy. Not worth the money ...

Sad how much this place has gone down hill. Used to love going here but the food has changed for the worse and the customer service is absolutely terrible. Ordered 2 sandwiches but instead got sandwich and a pizza. They ended up making the other sandwich but upon opening it the roll was half empty. Drove back to have it remade again and dont you know it was the same exact sandwich just heated up. So once again I drove back and requested a refund. The guy who claims he is the manager said I was a liar and I brought them back a different sandwich. Oh yes I went to another location and ordered a chicken cheesesteak to return there. What sense would that even make? I asked him for his name and he said I dont need to give you that and walked away. They lost a long time customer, shame because I used to rant and rave about Charlies.

Great food here! Their pizza is fantastic! I'm not a fan of crispy hard crust, and I find charlies pizza crust to be soft and delicious. Their oven is conveyor belt style, and while its coming out they will rotate the pie/ slow down the belt to finish it while they brush the crust with what I believe to be butter. Resulting in delicious soft tasty crust. I would call it doughy but NOT undercooked. With the garlic butter they give you its almost like you have a breadstick after each slice! mmm Also highly recommend their wings! Their hot sauce is unique and delicious. The size of the wings are larger than anywhere else locally. I can only eat 4-5 of the ''killer'' wings before I need to take a break. If you or your friends want to try and spicy-challenge I dare you. The cheesesteaks are also fantastic the steak actually taste like steak, and not grey-meat like taste from the other cheesesteak place. Quality over quantity. I find the staff to be pleasant and straightforward. When taking orders over the phone they may be short because they are multi-tasking, but don't be discouraged the end product will be delicious! Tip: Call your order in instead of ordering at counter. The counter person may be occupied with register/ taking pizzas out of oven. They always have someone in back doing prep work that's available to answer the phone. Trust me. Although this review is long after growing up on their food, and now being adult and appreciating how they've been feeding the community for decades this review is well deserved. Thank you Charlie, and workers!

Closes at 8, stops taking orders at 7:30, today cannot even be bothered to pick up the phone at 7 PM!!! Often slams down the phone to respond to orders and seems to be mad every time you order. Fries are clearly from a freezer bag you could buy at the grocery store. For a takeout only restaurant it seems they don’t even want buisness!

I offered to pay $10 for one pizza worth of dough and they said they wouldn’t do that. It’s not like I was even being cheap $10 is overkill for one pizza worth of dough. And most grocery stores don’t sell fresh dough any more so any pizza place that did would make solid money on that. I just moved here from Philly and any small pizza joint in Philly would sell dough. By the way a cheese pizza is $9.50. Could have literally rung me up for a cheese pizza.

Ate there 5/19/23 for 1st time got pepp pizza and CS with pickles both were great my family loved it we will be back as regulars

Tried this place cause of the reviews, not even sure how can people rate their pizza as NY pizza?! If I can rate their pizza I would give it a -10. I bought a buffalo pie and I will never go back to this place ever….. Some reviews mention about Quality food?! What do you know about quality? This is not even close to the $1 slice pizza in NYC, mind you compare it with the real NY pizza…. You should go and open a CANDY shop instead, pizza is not your thing…. Should have bought Dominoes or papa johns instead of this piece of ****. It was the first time and the last time I will step in to this place. Also they are not even welcoming, a bunch of miserable faces behind the counter…. Go to this place for a miserable pizza pie…. Without exaggeration, this is the worst pizza I ever had in my life.

Quick, easy, local pizza joint. The pizza is good and reminds me of good New York pizza. However, the staff can be a little rude. I was hung up on when opening an order on the phone. Not impressed with the service, but they can make a good pizza.

Delicious NY style pizza exists in Delaware!! I cannot believe it took us so long to find this place. Also so happy to see Charlie's employees masked, w/ sanitizer available, dedicated to operating safely in these crazy times.

For a pizza and steak place, they have one of the BEST burgers and fries! The double burger is absolutely amazing - perfect bun to lots of meat!

Great pizza and service. Tiny place. Hours make it tough to get an order in. Showed up twice and they were closed. They give you garlic butter with large pie.

The only place we go for subs and steaks. Haven't tried the pizza yet but people rave about it. The ham on the Italian subs is sliced thin, so good! and fresh.

Charlie's is one of our local pizza and sub shops and one of our favorites. The pizzas are always great and best chicken cheese steaks sandwiches in the area !! Been there so many times for food pick up that as soon as I walk in they have my order ready without having to tell them my name.

Ordered from Charlie's yesterday for the first time. Had a cheesesteak for myself which was perfect, my husband had a cheese burger which he enjoyed and my daughter had a small cheese pizza which looked delicious. Pizza crust is soft snd sweet yeast dough. Sauce tastes homemade. Sandwiches soft rolls and delish. Fries are the best in this area.

In my opinion best Pizza in Claymont, and Wilmington. Just a little hole in the wall but man there crust is superthin and it’s always perfectly cooked your cheeses are delicious their meats are delicious I always order from Charlie’s have been for six years. Highly recommended

Cheesesteaks and sub (hoagies if you must) every bit as good as any place in philly. Pizza just as good as anywhere in NJ or NY. Will say pizza is slightly undercooked to what I'm traditionally used to, but that just makes leftovers that much better. No complaints whatsoever. Still have yet to try the wings, and no joke best calzone I ever had was from here. Make sure to get marinara if you decide to get a calzone. Hidden gem for sure

I got the cheesesteak. Little Delaware is coming up big in the cheesesteak game!! Everything was great but I would have liked a little more meat. Charlie's will definitely be in my personal rotation. Alot of fried onions gave this CS a different texture and taste.

Charlie's pizzas and cheese steaks are well known in the North Wilmington area - better than anywhere else. They make their own tomato sauce for the pizzas; so tasty and so fresh. This is a take-out place, but they do have a couple of tables - it isn't a place to take your family for dinner: the food's great, but you should take it home to eat.

Great pizza! No delivery and closed Sunday though. Small shop but worth it. Great price.
