— can I take a Star back? — Day 2: Our server was probably in a rush. We didn’t get there an entire order (bread missing), we asked for boxes to take the left overs: Got 1 less than needed, she didn’t even ask for dessert went straight for check. Yep not coming back. —- Wasn’t disappointed at all. I am little guilty of planning the whole trip to Nashville (from Seattle) for the dancing spice queen. Was little worried that given the expectation might be disappointed, but Nop… it was good food which tasted super. Had chicken poutine, veggie pakora… ate the poutine for almost next 2 days and they had one be of the best chicken I might have had. Pakoras and the sauce with it was also delicious. We had veggie of the day and paneer thing, paneer dish had layer of raisin, which gave it little sweet yet different flavor. Cheese naan was worth recommendation. Oh and let’s not talk about gulab jamun cheese cake, I am bribing husband for another trip to the restaurant for our last night here 🙃😉

Just ok. Expected much better based on reviews AND that because this is owned by a Chopped tv show judge. Food is just average at best and premises are shabby sheep bordering more on the shabby side. Get a designer and do it better. Washrooms are not clean.

I have only tried Indian food once before and was so unimpressed it took me years to try it again. Chauhan Ale and Masala House made me regret waiting so long to try it again! Food was so fantastic and the service was on point! I had the Vindaloo braised lamb and wow it was a flavor tsunami! Try this place you will not regret it!

This place lives up to the hype. Went here on a business dinner and was blown away. The whipped paneer appetizer was one of the most flavorful things I have ever tasted. For dinner I had the braised pork shank and it was fall off the bone tender and very well spiced. My coworker had the paneer dinner and it was also amazing. The garlic parmesan naan was really good as well. Excellent service by Mort. This place is a must try.

Disappointing for these Food Network fans. Isn't stated on website, but brunch is daily until 2pm. Can't get full menu until 4:30pm. No accommodations to get things prepared for those with allergies or food intolerances. I enjoy Indian food, but this wasn't as good as I get in Detroit. Sure was expensive & difficult for a person with mobility disabilities to get to. Poutine made me nauseous. Dry rice. Burned naan. The garlic parm naan has so much dry parm on it that it was inedible. Service was meh, but was presented with an ask for a 25% tip. I gladly tipped staff for the staff for the pleasure of never having to eat here again.

Had an incredible experience at Chauhan! I love Indian food, but struggle because I can’t handle any spice. However I was able to get several things I absolutely LOVED! Recommended apps: Chicken Poutine, Braised beef naan (this was to DIE for) Recommended entrees (esp for non spice lovers): Lamb Moilee and Chicken Tikka Masala Only negative was the cocktails were not great - ended up switching mine out for wine. But food was 10/10!

We have watched chef Moneet on TV for a while now and were excited to try her restaurant in Nashville. We had a great experience, our server was able to answer all our questions and gave some great suggestions. Our friend has some allergies that we shared with our server, he listened carefully and made more suggestions. Then we had a manager come to our table to talk more about her allergies and confirm our servers suggestions. We had a couple appetizers that they suggested and did the flight of curry which was a great way to decide what we all wanted on our food. We had the shrimp, lamb and pork. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal. We will definitely go back!!

It was Sunday night ( Labour Day weekend), and we went for dinner. I reserved earlier and felt that nobody cared. We could have walked in too. The place looks cool, and vibrant. Unlike any generic Indian restaurants, this place has an upscale vibe to it. The menu is also quite expensive. I started with some kiwi ( non alcoholic) beverage. They ran out of mango lassi. It was pretty late in night, so understandable! We started with some chicken tandoori poutine. The spicy, cheesy fries with chicken tandoori pieces were good and very rich, and heavy. Consider to share this otherwise you would only kill your appetite. In the main course we both shared a champions thali. The thali with a tandoor ribeye at the spotlight. The quality of the steak meat was high, and it was cooked medium rare - rare. It was fine, however, IMO the Indian spice/ flavour condiments were not much complimenting with it. The thali looked great however, not at all value for your money. Only the steak is the good part, otherwise quite mediocre. Half of the plate was filled by papadum. In the Remaining plate, apart from the steak, there was mac n cheese ( infused with some Palak paneer gravy- so they call it saag Mac n cheese), a small portion of daal and alu- paneer sabji. Some pickle/ Achar ( reminds me of IRCTC- iykyk) A small portion of Indian gravy/ sauce ( only sauce no protein/ vegetable in it). What to do with it? Pour on top of the meat? They didn’t specify. Overall- the platter does not have any synchronisation or satisfactory factor. I didn’t see any dessert on the menu, neither the waiter asked us if we would like any dessert or not! As a whole I felt the place to be overhyped and overpriced. Still I would like to go back once before passing the final verdict. Update: I came back again, and this time I loved the food more than my last visit. I started with a cocktail - Taj Mule. It was decent. We started with golgappa and keema slider, and chicken tikka. Golgappa was terrific. The sliders were pretty good and the chicken kabab was juicy, smoked and a decent one. In the main course we sampled their breads -Parmesan naan, chilli cheese kulcha and French onion naan. All of them were terrific. Then we got lamb chops with korma sauce and braised pork shank. With vindaloo sauce. We finished the meal with a gulab jamun cheesecake. Overall everything was hot and freshly prepared with top ingredients. The food was flavorful and perfectly cooked.

Just had an EXCELLENT meal at Chauhan Ale and Masala House. It was definitely the best Indian food any of us had had. It was the best meal two of us had ever had. We had delicious cocktails ! We ate family style (sharing all!) and had the Whipped paneer, paneer poutine, tandoori kabobs for appetizers. Then braised lamb with korma sauce, shrimp with moille curry, chicken with bhunna, the Tournament of Champions Tiffin, and naan. We had the three dessert options to share. Everything was craveable, delicious and memorable. The restaurant is beautiful - Indian ambiance. The waiting staff was friendly to all. Our server, Mort, was so helpful and charming. He had great suggestions! Definitely happy that we chose to eat here. The only disappointment was that Maneet was not there, but in all honesty, we would’ve been shocked if she’d been there!

This was our favorite restaurant from our trip hands down thanks to the outstanding service we had from the bartender Susie. For a main dish I got the market fish and bhanu curry which was the 2nd best fish dish I have ever had in my life. My partner ordered side items and appetizers to include the Gupta shots. Daal of the day. And steak and French onion Naan. I would highly recommend the Naan to anyone with its immense flavor. My partner really enjoyed the daal which had a nice balance of flavor without overwhelming the palette. The Gupta shots are unlike anything we have ever had before and would recommend for the unique experience alone. The place is very family friendly with many kids dressed up to enjoy the meal with their parents.

So looking forward to our dinner here while visiting Nashville. I follow Chef Maneet and was eager to reserve for our family. Food was beautiful and lots of it. Appetizers almost too much with not much room for entres. Sadly our service was disappointing. It seemed our server may have had too many tables? We were left with dirty appetizer plates and silver are through our dinner. The beautiful spicy food called for ample water but our glasses were never refilled. Upon payment we were left with the card machine to finish out our transaction. This is the first time I’ve ever left less than a 25% tip (former server myself) but I was so disappointed.

We planned on coming to Maneet's restaurant solely because of watching T.O.C on HBO. We came for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed in the slightest. An early reservation actually worked out great for us because we beat the rush on Thursday night, and it made the setting feel very catered toward us. Our server was the bartender Mickey. Despite having a steady flow of people in once we got sat, we still had good service. For appetizers we had the tandoori mushroom toast and the nashville hot pakora. For dinner my girlfriend and I shared the tandoori lamb shank and vindaloo curry with rice. It was absolutely delicious. We also had the saag Mac n cheese, Naan and the chutney trio. I wanted to like this place. I love Indian food, but this did not taste like authentic Indian food. My son and I started with the Pakora appetizer and it was good, but like all the dishes, the spices were muted. I had the garlic shrimo in a saag sauce and it was good and plentiful, but at $28, expensive. My son had the Chicken Tikka marsala and this was pretty bad and at $26 also expensive (compared to New York prices). We are from a suburb of New York City and you can get real good Indian food there. Here the chicken was chewy and it was lumped in big pieces rather than cut up. The brussel sprouts were alright, but again bland. The waiter forgot to bring the Naan bread we ordered and the service was slow. As my son said after the meal, This is an Americanized Indian food, not real Indian. Like a real Indian restaurant wouldn’t even have brussel sprouts on the menu. My son is starting as a freshman at Vanderbilt, but we will try to find another good Indian restaurant in Nashville.

Service was good. Food was delivered fast however, it was lacklustre. Maybe it was hyped up too much by others who had eaten there but when compared to authentic Indian food it didn’t compete. I would recommend looking in the Cool Springs area where there are a multitude of restaurants that have excellent tasting food for a much lower cost. It’s good food, but there’s much better for less elsewhere. Watered down Indian food for the masses. The poutine is an excellent idea though.

I'll preface this review by saying that the food and service were great. This place was a little underwhelming. Maybe I had too high of expectations going in because of a trip to Maneet's previous Nashville restaurant and being absolutely blown away. We ordered basic traditional dishes (Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma) and I feel like the basics should be a step above other Indian Restaurants especially at the price point they were at. Great food and drinks! We had the Kale Chana Jor Garam Salad, Nashville Hot Pakoras, and Paneer Bhuna with Naan. All of the items were amazing, delicious, and we’ll balanced. The food had authentic Indian flavours fused with southern concepts, so I’m not sure what some of the other negative reviewers are going on about. The curry was delicious without being overly oily or unhealthy, which we really appreciated - it somewhat felt like we were having homemade food, which is nice when you don’t want to feel sedated after a meal. The service was also awesome. We were well cared for and when we had questions about the food (or even the town), our server was awesome.

My recent visit to Chauhan ale and masala house left me thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. Upon receiving my order of Chana Jor Garam Salad was shocked to find a dead fly nestled within the food. This completely ruined what was meant to be a pleasant dining experience. The hygiene standards in the kitchen clearly left much to be desired. Discovering a fly in my food not only grossed me out but also raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and quality control of the establishment. When I brought this issue to the attention of the server, they seemed apologetic and offered to refund the price of the dish. However, the damage had already been done, and the mere thought of consuming anything from their kitchen was unappetizing. Overall, my experience here was marred by this incident. While accidents can happen, finding a dead insect in a dish is simply unacceptable. I hope the management takes immediate steps to improve their hygiene practices and ensure such incidents do not recur, as this tarnishes their reputation significantly.

I would highly recommend the Poutine, the Gol Guppa Shots, and the pork shank! Kiersten recommended the pork with the Goan sauce (ask about it), and it was definitely the right move. The drinks were delicious. If you’re a bourbon or whiskey drinker, I would highly recommend the Indri Single Malt neat. It’s a bit sweeter and more floral than your traditional American options and it was an eye opening experience. Their old fashioned that features it was delicious! I understand that you had a very talented chef and may not want to cater to Indian guests, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't them or show interest. I am unsure about the quality of your food prepared by the talented chef based on your website. The pictures of your East Indian food online and what we received at the restaurant were quite different. I wonder why that is. Unfortunately we were not even greeted by your staff. I understand that your focus is on a different type of guest. After leaving your establishment, I went to a small restaurant and had a great meal. Best Indian food I have ever eaten in my life. I live in Southern California where there is a lot of Indian influence and great Indian restaurants but this tops them all. I even ate lamb and I don’t even eat lamb. Order it all, you won’t regret it.

Maneet Chauhan famous master chef with its eponymous restaurant would expect a more unique experience or a knockout menu with eclectic dishes etc but we found dishes to be run of the mill Even the taste also for some dishes was not up to the mark as we looked around the restaurant it was catering to the American taste buds , hence it could survive Paneer kabab was insipid and we could tell it was not fresh Anyhow, it was not downright disappoint it did acquit itself with delectable spicy cheese naan which was on richer side and a large piece definitely meant to be shared. Mocktails were unique like hibiscus paani Hopefully they improve on their menu items But tye service was top notch

We are huge fans of Maneet and her food did not disappoint! Two of us shared 2 apps (poutine and seasonal salad) then ordered the lamb vindaloo and pork shank. The portions were so big we got a second meal out of it! Finished my meal with a cup of chai that was the perfect amount of sweet. :)

The food is not at all catering to Indian descent people and is in no way should be called Indian cuisine. This is more of a fusion food just catering to non- Indian people. Ordered napolean paneer and paneer tikka , the gravy was totally scarce and offcourse the taste was bland. Although I’m not big fan of spicy food but this was way too bland for Indian taste buds. If you are looking for proper indian food please stay away. The food was way too pricy as well!! Service was fine but ambience was great.

Mort was a great server. Attentive, informative and available without "hovering" He perfectly modeled the restaurant as a whole. The food is refined but not stuffy or pretentious. Their version of putine and Mac and cheese is amazing. So how serious could it be? Great spot, great food, awesome cocktails (I had their version of a mule) Ask for Mort

Fantastic dining EXPERIENCE. Go there willing to spend time and money. It’s not a quick service restaurant, which is exactly what we were looking for. We started with the green water balls (not real name) and short rib naan. BOTH fantastic but the naan was incredible. Then the boyfriend got nana’s foster uttapm, which was quite sweet but amazing texturally, and I had the chicken vindaloo, which had the perfect amount of spice. They also have great selection of drinks. Our waitress great too although they seemed a little understaffed for brunch on a Saturday. Overall, would definitely go back.

Disappointed in the food and the service. The hostess and server knew my friend was here to celebrate her birthday but did not bother to say happy birthday. No offers to refill drinks. The 'vegetarian options' are limited, which is surprising for an Indian restaurant. The "Nashville hot vegetable pakoras" were lukewarm and dry. Worse Indian meal of my life. I paid and tipped anyway but will not return.

Poor Food, Worst taste. I really don’t believe that it is Chef Maneet restaurant dish. We can make good tandoori kabob’s at home or any 3rd class restaurant can make better than them. Very disappointed that we wasted our money and time. Worst tandoori kabob I have eaten ever. We decided not to go further to try the menu as the first impression was really bad. WORST WORST!!!!!!

This was our second visit to this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. The food is an interesting combination of classic and contemporary Indian fusion. We had the braised pork shank with korma, and the paneer Napoleon with tikka masala. For an appetizer we had the mixed Nashville hot vegetable pakora. And for dessert we had the rum cake. All of it was absolutely delicious. The specialty cocktails were also extremely good. We tried three total and all of them were spot on. The only miss, in our opinion, is the chairs at the tables. We are not large people, but the chairs have these uncomfortable metal brackets that wrap around on the side and dig into the sides of your hip bones. I would strongly recommend a booth if you have a choice. Service was fantastic. Absolutely no complaints. Next time we are in Nashville we will be back! Highly recommended!

We went here for our anniversary and it was a total disaster. The Masala Braised Lamb was undercooked I would say close to being raw and the Ginger Garlic Shrimp was overcooked. I don't think they keep a very clean kitchen there as well. I guess I would think that someone who goes on all these cooking shows and judges others would be more mindful on what's going on in her own kitchen. If you want great Indian food do not come here.

Wanted to love but so disappointed” Jun 6, 2024 sandrarG2323ID (17 reviews) We were so looking forward to eating at Maneet’s. Having watched her on TV and wanted to show support for her restaurant as we are also immigrants and so happy she had won TOC twice. A few hours after flying into Nashville , we headed for dinner there as we had made reservations and were excited about it. We were greeted well and seated immediately. The restaurant is lovely inside and showcased Indian decor. We ordered the lamb in vindaloo sauce and the mixed vegetables in korma sauce. Both dishes were watered down and hardly tasted authentic. The lamb vindaloo lacked flavor and heat while the korma lacked flavor too. I understand that you have to cater to the palate of the majority as this is a business. However, I wish that we could have had a choice of heat levels. That at least, would definitely have helped. I have to add that we are originally from SE Asia and have excellent palates because of our backgrounds in the availability of a wide variety of delicious and scrumptious South East Asian foods. In general, I wish people could have a taste of authentic food. Most ethnic foods here in the US don’t do justice to the original taste and that is sad. The richness and explosion of flavors should be celebrated and experienced by everyone. Unfortunately, like in most countries, this lack of authenticity in the flavors and tastes of ethnic cuisine is the norm. Nevertheless, we still love Maneet Chauhan and wish her all the very best always!! 💕

We really wanted to try as its number 1 resturant but vegetable kurma had no veggies except 2 pieces of cauliflower n 2 pieces of brocolli Same with chicken tikka. It was below average. Pakodas were best n very creative. Ambience/ service super good but very disturbed to see Hindu God Ganesha hooks in women's restrooms.

Phenomenal food! We've been twice now and have only ordered apps since we're too full for an entree afterwards. The loaded fries are great, the pakora are crispy and spicy but the French onion Naan shouldn't be missed. We got the mussels the second visit and took the sauce home for another meal it was so rich and delicious.

Wanted to try Maneet's food at this restaurant. Food was good but did not have the punch of flavour that we expected. We believe it has been toned down for the American pallett. I have made her recipes at home and they have had more depth of flavour. We did eat here twice and are glad we did.

I highly recommend. Don't miss out. If you haven't tried Indian food, or if your having difficulty breaking away from your favorite Indian food spot, please give Chauhan Ale and Masala House a try. The staff was very friendly. The portion to price ratio was more than decent compared to what you might spend in some places downtown. I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It was very delicious, but I believe it has room for improvement. My personal preference is, more spiciness. I wish there were levels of spice that can be offered (this is my reason of 4 stars). It was mild, yet boasts amazing flavor. I paired with my dish, garlic naan. It too was very delicious, and needs no improvement. It was perfect. Soft on the inside, crispy on the bottom and edges, with great flavor. *Thanks for reading my review and hopefully it helps you with your dining decision today. * Also, I try to give at the least 4+ visits before giving a review. That way I can give you my most honest and accurate review. I've visited this location twice. - Tommy

Visiting Nashville and chose to eat here based on recommendations. I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food. I love the flavors. Love the heat you often get with the curries. While I found the curries rich (creamy , thick), it lacked flavor and zero heat. It tasted like Indian food for beginners to gain clients who haven’t tried Indian food before. It’s a shame since the meats were tender and plentiful. Service could have been better. My water glass was empty for the last portion of our meal and had to drink my wife’s water until I finally got it filled. Too many good dining options to settle.
