I really loved the food and the customer service is excellent. Food is good and they have an excellent customer service/hospitality.

I’ve been getting takeout from here for twenty years. What a hidden gem and what a great value for dinner. Best Peruvian chicken in the area for years! I can’t help myself with the yucca. Call ahead to order for takeaway. They have a few dedicated parking spots immediately out front but there’s also a parking garage right next door. You will be in and out in minutes.

I came to the Chicken on the run to pre-order chicken for an upcoming party at work. Ordering was fast and simple. My food was ready in time and professionally packed right before my eyes. Everything was delicious and my coworkers wanted to know what restaurant it came from. Will definitely come again and recommend. Parking is a little challenging, but just like pretty much everywhere in Bethesda.

So good! I had the steak stir fry. Very different from an Asian stir fry. The sauce was rich, the steak was tender, and the fries were great for sopping up the sauce. My husband enjoyed the burrito. Give them a try!

We dined in food was delicious, we had chicken, chaufa rice, coleslaw, Mac and cheese and tres leche., especially the white and green sauce, we also placed an order to go.

The food looked appealing, sadly it was not I'm not sure how you mess up charcoal chicken but it was bland, border line under cooked the rest of it had little to no flavor... I could not even complete the meal... left with the intent to Never return... staff was adequate

1st off let me say the green sauce was good. (SAUCE IS VERY IMPO)) I ordered yuca /plantains and 1/4 dark chicken. The plantains were not good at all taste like yesterday or cooked in old grease. VERY disappointed as this is my fave food.

Tiny rotisserie chicken shop in a good location. There’s even a few tables outside on a cute patio. The food was delicious, can’t recommend the plantains enough. We placed a to go order in person and had had our food in less than 2 minutes. After a 5 minute walk the food was still steaming hot and super fresh when we got home. And the pricing is some of the best in the area. The staff all seemed super friendly. This is a new repeat spot for a quick and tasty weeknight meal.

My partner and I tried this for the first time and were blown away by the quality, flavor, and service! We got a whole chicken with rice/beans and the plantains, all of it was amazing and we particularly like their salsa verde that comes with it. We got our food to go but they have a nice dining area and we will definitely eat there next time!

Some of the best Pollo a la brasa I’ve had! Super tender and well seasoned. The staff is very nice as well. Prices are great. One of the best in the DMV!

Had to grab a bite quickly with Chicken on the Run being right in front of me. No expectations but was very happily surprised! The burrito was delicious. I raise my own poultry and by that standard this chicken was delicious and extremely tender. Would highly recommend.

Awesome food. They soak the chicken in beer, so I would not get the chicken if allergic to wheat. I just enjoy the yuca and black beans and rice. I highly recommend you ask for beans and rice separately, since together they put too much rice to bean ratio.

The food is OK, BUT with COVID, I ordered carry out, went to pick it up, paid a tip & they would not even bring it to the door. Had to go in to get the food & the cook had his mask down :( This place is not safe during covid, they don't care.

Great local spot! We order from here pretty regularly because it’s easy and cheap, we love their saltado and the half chicken with two sides.

Food is great but usually my order is delayed due to confusion at the restaurant. If you order through doordash, grubhub, etc. Expect there to be an extra half hour or so until you get your food.

Excellent Peruvian chicken. My family loves the chicken from here, and the sides are good too. Most recently, the family dog has become addicted and will not eat any of his dog food unless we mix in some Chicken on the Run chicken.

There are a lot of these roasted chicken places, but I think that this has far and away the best food. The tiny dining area keeps it from getting 5 stars. But if you want great chicken and sides, go here. They have the best plantains - caramelized but not mushy. The cucumber salad is a perfect side to the chicken. They also have other dishes like Chaufa that can easily feed two people.

A favorite of my son and I for over 10 years! Consistently good offerings at a very reasonable cost. Some of the best comfort food out there!

I went there with a colleague for lunch. Very good Peruvian Chicken. I got a 1/2 Chicken with choice of 2 sides (fries and coleslaw). Very small "hole in the wall" for Bethesda, but good value. We dined in, we were the only customers so no worries about distancing. They had a small table outside but a car was parked very close to it so we opted for inside. Friendly service.

Chicken on the Run is great for a quick take home chicken meal. You pretty much get what you'd expect-- decent rotisserie chicken and good sides at a fair price. Perhaps in a side by side tasting I could tell the differences between this and other very similar places, but I've never done that. For Bethesda, though, it's a good reliable and affordable meal. Great place for quick cheap eats. I love for their beans, rice, and sweet plantains. I don’t know what they do to the chicken, but it is amazing. A great place to feed a crowd with solid comfort food.

Cozy, relatively inexpensive hole in the wall! We got the quarter white meat with plantains and rice/black beans as sides. The plantains were my favorite being the right amount of sweet and crispy. Definitely a spot to check out

This is our go-to place for Peruvian Chicken in Bethesda. While I can’t say this is the best Peruvian chicken I’ve ever had, it is really good, and I can usually leave the place with dinner for seven in less than ten minutes. The food is excellent, the service is quick, and the price is perfect. Highly recommended. I first had Peruvian Chicken many years ago at a now-defunct restaurant on University Boulevard in Wheaton. It was wonderfully delicious and fast, and it became our frequent choice for a Friday dinner with a movie at home. The chicken is more flavorful and lighter than rotisserie chicken. The sides (yuca fries, plantains, and rice with black beans) and the sauces (green and pink) are always delicious. There are two Peruvian Chicken restaurants in Bethesda, but Chicken on the Run is our go-to place. Both restaurants have tables, but we always take out. Chicken on the Run is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant on St. Elmo, next to the Public Parking. We’ve resorted to take out Peruvian Chicken several times, when hosting casual dinners for our relatives, without cooking. The food is consistently good, and everyone likes it. The mild spices are complex and add layers of flavor of chicken. To be sure there are other items on the menu, such as Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, Chop Chop, and choices of Chaufa (fried rice) con Carne or con Pollo. Since our family dinners tend to be pot-luck affairs, we never order salad or dessert. Others will bring those. For seven people, we get two whole chickens, and plenty of sides (plantains, yuca, rice with black beans, etc.). Luckily, they always throw in plenty of sauce containers. The green sauce is the hotter of the two, but not too much. There are always leftovers. You can order your chicken on line, but I never felt the need. Every time I’ve been able to order at the counter and walk away with my dinner in less than 10 minutes. At home, I keep the chicken in a warming over until we are ready to eat and serve it on a platter. I use bowls for the sides. Convenience, speed, good food, and excellent prices (less than $50 for seven). Can’t be beat.

This tiny restaurant consistently provides delicious Peruvian roasted chicken and side dishes for a very reasonable price. I have been a devoted customer for years, and have never been disappointed. We get a meal from here at least twice a month. The chicken is always juicy and flavorful (love their marinade), and my family especially loves their rice and beans, cucumber salad and corn pico, though the mashed potatoes, cole slaw and fried plantains are also delicious. They have recently expanded the menu to include some beef dishes and stir fries, but I always order their fabulous chicken. This is definitely a take-out spot, since there are only a few tables and minimal atmosphere. The devoted staff always fills my order carefully and cheerfully, and I am on my way. There are other rotisserie chicken restaurants in the Bethesda area that we have tried, but we always return to our favorite, Chicken on the Run!!

The chicken is somewhat tasty, but lacks some flavor. I found myself using a lot more sauce than I normally would. The sides I got (rice+beans and potato salad) were pretty good. I would recommend getting the food to go because the restaurant is pretty small and the ambiance is definitely lacking.

Chicken on the Run used to be my go-to spot. It is still good, I just feel like the quality has gone down recently. However it is very affordable!

Hard to figure out which is better – Chicken on the Run or Pollo a la Brasa. Both are great though!

Food was great! Arroz Chaufa de Pollo y Aguadito! Need to try it again, portion was awesome! Not sure if it was cuz they were about to close but got me dinner and breakfast out of it.

These folks have consistently turned out great roast chicken, cassava fries, and frijoles for years. Call them up and order the chicken to go. It's not much of a place for sitting and eating. Don't bother trying to park in front. Go next door to the public parking lot or park on the street. Tip: Ask for extra creamy sauce.

I like the choices at this little neighborhood restaurant. Few tables but delicious chicken, rice & beans, cucumber salad, and plantains. Food is presented quickly in to go containers.

I've eaten here at least 25 times. This is, our go to chicken destination. No other Peruvian chicken place comes close. Also no other place gives you a delicious meal for four for under $20. Always outstanding.

This is a great hole in the wall type place. Pretty decent prices despite being raised a little over the past few years. I've really only stuck with one thing on the menu and thats the 1/4 White Chicken with mac n cheese on the side. Can't beat that! This is definitely a good lunch place for the size portion you get since you won't walk away stuffed but definitely not feeling like you need more.

A friend recommended this place and he was spot on. Served up quickly, the food is great. I had the half chicken and chose potato salad and slaw for sides. Portion sizes are generous, the price is cheap especially for this neighborhood. I will visit again if back in Bethesda later.

The 1/4 dark chicken, fries and bean and rice with a drink was the PERFECT meal! I mixed the green and tan sauce they gave me and dipped my chicken in it and WOW! Then I added ketchup to it for my fries. It was awesome. I'm 100% coming back.

Walked 2-3 blocks from the Doubletree Hotel for lunch while attending a conference in Bethesda. We ordered a simple lunch of marinated chicken with black beans and rice and also game with a green salad. The building is small with limited seating but most of the people in the relatively long line were evidently there for takeout. The food was very good and for $7.50 good quantity to go along with the quality. It was well worth the trip for a change of pace from conventional hotel restaurant or sandwich fare.

It happened last Nov 1 between 7-8:30pm when I ordered a whole chicken and after I payed the chicken I change my mind to order an additional order but I think casher got annoyed he called me stupid and I was shocked .It sound like impossible to believe but it's true and they start yelling at me when I ask them is this how you treat or handle the customer. Believe me or not I called the police to neutralized the situation.i never never go back to that place and even to my friends I will not recommend. If you want to experience the same thing go ahead. For me a very bad experience.

Chicken on the run features juicy marinated chicken, black beans and rice. (There are other options, from a simple salad to plantains, but these are the basics.) You can stop by and grab dinner to go for a very reasonable price and they prepare it quickly. Always a wonderful fall back for a quick dinner.

This is our go to place. Way better than Crisp and Juicy, better portion size and more options. Love all the different sides to choose from. Highly recommend the beans n rice, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. I get that with yuca of course....

This is the best place for chicken I think I have ever been too! The side dishes are also good. The chicken is always fresh, juicy, and seasoned just right. I eat here at least every couple of weeks. Would recommend to anyone.

This might be the best rotisserie chicken around. We had 1/4 dark platters with various sides (coleslaw, potato salad, yucca, plantains, and fries). Everything was delicious -- more than we could eat -- all for less than fast food at $5.99/platter!

Go to chicken on the run for peruvian style chicken. It is slow roasted to perfection and my favorite sides include fried yuca and plantains. Service is efficient but I didn't give high marks as this restaurant borders on fast casual and space can also...
