I came in to sit down for lunch at 1:20 PM. I notice it was a sign that said wait to be seated here so I waited 5 minutes to be seated while I was just standing there watching them look at a screen behind the front desk and not even acknowledging me. The 2nd lady that came out and finally addressed me by do you know what you want and I said yes I would like to be seated. While I was picking up a Togo menu after seating me then she yelled (58) and walked away from me then brought me a glass of water. And walked away again. I waited so either her or the 1st older lady at the front to come back because I noticed on the menu it said Ask your server for today lunch special while looking through the menu, I noticed everything basically came with pork or pork fried rice. I don’t eat pork at all, so I had other questions in my mind like do they cook everything in the same pots and pans at this point I noticed that they had a side salad for around five dollars and their vegetable fried rice was around $10, same as their chicken fried rice. So long story short I was waiting until 5 mins. Ago before I just stood up and walked out I never ever touched the water and I never seen the cost for a pot of tea on the menu. I have not been here in many years and now I guess I remember why. EVERYBODY DONT EAT PORK. Bye for now.

We recently enjoyed the Peking Family Dinner for four at China Garden, and we were really impressed! The portions were generous, and every dish was packed with flavor. The barbecue pork and Mongolian beef were our personal favorites, perfectly seasoned and tender. The shrimp fried rice and sweet & sour chicken were also delicious, and the hot and sour soup made for a great starter. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, offering both quality and quantity. We'll definitely be back for another family dinner soon!

They do have good food. I like that the wontons in their wonton soup aren't overcooked like a lot of places I've been to. But I ordered Moo Shoo pork and there was very little pork and they gave me tortillas instead of Chinese pancakes. Also my pork fried rice had very little pork. Come on now, I know times are tough but you are CHARGING people for this. We also ordered eggs rolls, sesame chicken and potstickers. Everything was very good and even though the Moo Shoo was slight on the pork it tasted delicious. The egg rolls also had no meat, but to be fair they didn't say "pork egg rolls." I happen to like pork egg rolls, could you make that an option? We were happy to recieve a free quart of wonton soup, however the lady who waited on us was texting while we waited for the credit card machine.

Ordered the BBQ Pork, cream cheese wontons, pork fried rice, sweet n sour chicken, and beef and chicken in birds nest for take out. Bbq pork was dry and the sauce was a total miss for me, although my husband did enjoy. The beef and chicken in birds nest is listed on the menu as “sliced beef, chicken, fresh broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, and carrots cooked with chefs special sauce in crispy basket”. I don’t know what the crispy basket is meant to be as it was nowhere to be found in our take out, and the meal I received also had huge slices of celery stalk and green pepper in it, which unfortunately, I strongly dislike. I had chosen this dish based off the menu description because it had listed all vegetables I was a big fan of, and this kind of ruined it for me. Cream cheese wantons are not sweet (if you are used to a sweeter Rangoon), and the way their were folded and fried made them extra crunchy to the point I could not enjoy them and had to throw everything but the softer filled outside ring away. The chicken in sweet and sour chicken was inconsistent in texture but over all tasted good according to my husband. Fried rice was really dry, but the white rice was pleasant. Overall, not the worst, I think maybe I just made a bad choice, but ultimately straying from the menu description was really disappointing.

I was exciting to come here because they have lemon chicken. I grew up in California . They are best tastes. Lemon chicken tastes. Honey and water not even lemon flavors. Chicken was thick and sauce is not enough breast thick chicken. I asked for extra sauce and told me 3 dollar for extra sauce. I lost respect that. I suggest you all who read and who never come here. Don’t try to come here. My husband ordered sweet and sour chicken and sweet and sour sauce tastes more water and weak tastes flavors. We won’t come here again. I will have to make lemon sauce at home to cover thick chicken breast. The batter with chicken tastes so awful.

Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve had and I’ve been through many places stateside and overseas. Took my family out and initially was excited to eat here, but we were all disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken was mostly breading, the wings were small and the chow mein was a hodgepodge of cabbage and fish? with chips? The bbq pork egg foo young looked like burnt steak as opposed to a lighter omelette as shown below. There were barely any remnants of bbq pork, it was more like tiny cubes. I would not recommend to eat here if you are in GF and to find another Chinese spot like Panda Buffet.

I just found out about China Garden today and decided to give them a shot. The menu is huge, so finding exactly what we all wanted was easy. I ordered delivery and they quoted me a wait time of a little over an hour. Ok, no worries, I ordered during a peak time, I get it. I'll wait. About an hour later the delivery driver showed up with a huge box full of food. They definitely don't skimp on the portion sizes, I now have enough fried rice for the next five days, enough sweet and sour chicken for a week, and the hot and sour soup will last me a fortnight. Honestly, the amount of food they delivered would pose a challenge even to the most dedicated group of stoners. Everything showed up hot and delicious. 10/10, I will definitely be ordering again.

This is probably considered an American Chinese restaurant but man it is good. I have not found a place in any of my travels with sweet and sour chicken, consume soil, egg rolls or general tso chicken I love better. I always come here for the soup to pick up and bring home if I am sick. I have seen much of the staff here for years. My friend and I went to China Garden last evening (12/6/2023). There were no other customers in the restaurant besides my friend and I. A slim tall waiter got us seated, gave us the menu and turned the lights on at our booth. A while later, a grumpy Chinese lady (owner?) brought us water. The waiter and the lady both sat down talking on their phones. They never returned to take our order. Ŵe tried to get their attention but they won't even look in our direction. We waited for 15-20 mins for the waiter to place our order. We then decided to leave the restaurant. Very arrogant employee/s and unfriendly management.

It was easy to figure out when we walked in to China Garden that they were very busy and they were shorthanded on staff. There was one server busting her rump to take care of every table in the restaurant during lunch rush. There was another woman that was trying to greet and seat people. They easily could have used at least two more people serving today. If we would have been on a schedule, we could not have waited to eat here today. Seeing that the lone server was extremely busy, we waited patiently. We had nothing else to do, and nothing else planned. It took about a little over a half hour before the lone server was able to take our order. It took another half hour to get our food. Bottom line... we were OK to wait for good food. The server was terribly busy, and you could see that. Being patient, our meals were served up hot and delicious! It was well worth the wait. This wait was not good for some people. One group of five got up and left after about 10 minutes of being seated. Cheers to the lone server today! You really busted your arse to take care of the entire restaurant. Having worked in the business, I totally understood what you were going through today. I wish other people could have understood as well.

I wanted to get a vegetable with garlic sauce dish or just chopped garlic in the sauce if they don’t make a specific garlic sauce…and I got the order pretty fast like 10-15 min at most but when I went home to eat it, the smell was medicinal and I realized it was due to the many celery pieces they added which makes the whole dish taste really bad, there were fresh (not canned) mushrooms, onions, and some carrot slices. But the broccoli wasn’t really fresh and they added whole garlic pieces which were mushy and tasteless which happens when you don’t chop it for the flavor I was hoping for. Then after I put it in the fridge I saw that the sauce turned into a gelatin like texture. So I had to wash out all the sauce w a strainer and added my own chopped garlic and soy sauce to be able to eat it. Otherwise my $15 take out dish would have gone to waste. The staff are nice and they were mostly young high school to college age students and they were kind and respectful. I just wish the food reflected the goodness of the hospitality. A nice surprise: A nice ramen like base soup…complimentary with the food. Has rice and scallions. Tasty.

As with most businesses, they are short staffed and hard pressed to mert their normal speedy service but we enjoyed our visit and our server(Ben) did an excellent job.

We were a party of 20+ and the waitress did a fantastic job remembering everything we needed. Kudos to the chef/kitchen as the food was excellent along with the temperature for a group this big! Wontons are the best in town!!

This is a nice location for a sit down, clean, and good customer service. Food there is your typically Chinese American style food and it wasn’t bad. Prices are fair.

Admittedly, if you are reading this, you will agree that Grands Forks will likely never be listed as a culinary destination in one of those shiny airplane magazines. And there are also very few (no) choices for good Chinese in town. So I dont want to slam China Garden without also stating that I mean this review to be read by the owner who will hopefully (please God) improve the menu and cook flavorful food. I ordered three dinner dishes for take-out last night: LoMein, Szechwuan and Broccoli Beef. Each was as bland as the next and what we noticed immediately is that, aside from the obvious noodles in the LoMein, they tasted EXACTLY the same kind of bad. The chef had poured the same awful brown sauce over each dish. The cost of the meal was $40. But wait, there's more -- here is my final gripe: if this is what is being served and the restaurant is still a functional business, how many of us in Grand Forks thinks this kind of food is tasty and is settling for it? If you are eating there and like it, this review is not for you. To the owner: Please, please improve your meals!!! I SO want to be able to pick up quick, tasty Chinese take-out.

China Garden has a dish that brings be back to childhood. After moving from Michigan, where it is a menu staple, I never thought I would see it again. But, as I craved Chinese food one evening while traveling, I saw it. There on the menu after not seeing it for 7 years, Almond Fried Chicken! I rejoiced and it was delicious! I have since ordered it every single time I am in Grand Forks and will continue to do so forever. Thank you China Garden for having my childhood favorite and my perfect comfort food.
