China Gourmet is a family own business. The restaurant has been in operation in Northway Hills plaza for more than 20 years. The staff always greet with a smile as I walked in and are always helpful. Would recommend calling the order before hand and only have take out option (no delivery). The ordering time is really quick and by the time I arrive (10 minutes) they were already finish. The food is really cheap and delicious. Would recommend the General tso chicken, Chicken with vegetable, Sweet and Sour chicken, and the Lomein. I will be coming back and would recommend.

The beef and broccoli is a few pieces of beef with lettuce and carrots. So, not really beef and broccoli. The food smelled a little like cardboard but tasted good. But again, the beef and broccoli should be call beef and broccoLies

Not happy at all, I usually don’t post or complain but! I didn’t like the food at all. I order Mongolian beef, the onions were soft and mushy, the beef was not beef, I’m not sure if it was on the FDA approved list but I had to pick it out and eat rice and some onion. I’ve had Mongolian beef in many places on my travels and this was the worst. I expected better for $15

Called in order for 2 "dinner combo's" just got the food no combo. Asked for for extra green pepper and onions only got green pepper. The lady barley understood my order and didn't give me a number. When I got there to pick it up she was so confused on who's order was who's - very unorganized. Not sure what happened to the old staff from years ago but they need to come back.

China Gourmet has a very nice atmosphere and even greater service. The person who took my order over the phone is the same person who is on the front desk. Workers have great rapport with regular customers and will always remember the order. The food take around 15-20 minutes on average but they will always have it done early. The food is delicious and is well worth the money. I would recommend ordering the sweet and sour chicken, general tso chicken, orange chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, crab rangoon, and egg roll. The place has dine in but I would recommend take out because in the dinner times it usually gets busy. Overall the restaurant is great and would recommend to others.

Only took 15 minutes to prepare my Beef Lo Mein dinner combo. Portions were generous, tasted great, and the beef was tender and not chewy. It was my first time, and would gladly go again to try something else.

First time trying this place last night and let me tell ya, the food was fantastic!!! The chow mein and orange chicken were perfect and the egg rolls were so good!!! We will definitely be back!!!

Very friendly staff, and great food!

Very disappointed I order the chicken cashew and it was gross there was so much juice that it made the chicken a soggy mess with no flavor. I was suppose to get a remake and I call today and they said they don't recall and last time I said it was to dry. Lol not ever going here again ill be finding a new Chinese place

First time going here and I will now be going when ever I am working nearby. Lunch was great, lots to eat as I could not finish and had to eat later. Today was second time here, now full box of food and an egg roll for $8 awesome for a lunch special. BK and McDonald's can't beat that! Very friendly and prompt. Be warned, closed on Mondays.

Got take out. Wasn't a huge fan of the General Tso's chicken, sauce was different, but there was a good amount of beef in the Szechuan Beef dish. Good portions for ordering off the lunch menu. We all had leftovers, and the egg rolls were pretty good.

Ordered broccoli chicken with a white sauce and got a brown sauce that was extremely sweet. The dish was cold. The rice was really old and crunchy. I did not get the fried wontons I ordered. The egg drop soup was not and fresh though.

I recently moved to Lansing from Seattle and this is the only comparable Chinese food I’ve had since moving. Quick, friendly service, good food, and lots of it!

I ordered the curry chicken with vegetables and fried rice, absolutely no flavor, just oily chicken that seemed undercooked. Rice was dry. Vegetables were the only part of the meal that seemed cooked right but covered with oily tasteless "curry" sauce. They didn't argue about the refund so that was nice, the lady at the counter was very polite.

Each time I have ordered carry out from here, my family has been very pleased. My family is very picky when it comes to restaurants and this one is at the top of our list for Asian foods. If you have not tried, please do. They have always been very prompt once ordered.

If you can boil chicken and not season it and also put uncle Ben's rice in the microwave just save yourself the trip and stay home.

Good food reasonably priced another star comes when the chicken is served in larger pieces.

Food was mediocre at best and lady at front counter was rude. Not worth it go somewhere else.

This was our first time trying China Gourmet. The person taking my order was very friendly, and at first the food was good. Unfortunately, several people ordered the same thing all of them found hairs in their food. We lost our appetite and threw away the rest of everything. They were nice enough to refund us, and I hope it's a lesson to them to make sure that doesn't happen again to others. I would have given them five stars otherwise.

The lunch combination plates are so good and such a great deal. I'm amazed the prices aren't higher

Top tier food and very friendly people.

The food was very good, but I am taking a star away for service. They first told us 40 minute wait. When we returned, they said 15 more minutes. When we returned the third time, they said 15 minutes again. I understand they were busy, but that's very frustrating to be told the wrong time more than once, and waiting over 1 hour for dinner.

Great place one of my go to places when I’m in the area. Foods always hot and taste great. Their always friendly and have a decent sized menu. Recommend the steamed dumplings.

Little skimpy on the white rice and the egg rolls are a little small for the price. The Generals Chicken had good taste, but lacked on the heat (spice). Lo mein was a little too dry for my taste. Still looking for my "go‐to" place.

Great food with a large quantity. I tried their General Tso Chicken and it was incredibly delicious! I will have to admit i was shocked when they handed me a tub of General Tso and some rice to go with it as i was not expecting that much food for the price. I was pleasantly surprised and have kept going back ever since

The best Chinese take out we love the taste!!

This was my first time here. I got the shrimp stir fry with veggies, fried rice and an egg roll. A very nice young girl took my order and it was prepared promptly. It came with soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce for you to season to taste. They still have take-out only, no dine-in. I would recommend it.

Not all Chinese food is created equal! This restaurant has enhanced the safety during covid and continues to delight with yummy food. In addition, the young girl who works the counter always makes us feel like family. Even doing a happy dance when my wife came to pick up an order. Keep up the great work!

China Gourmet has been superb for years and is owned and run by the friendliest family. A must for DeWitt residents and well worth the drive if you’re further away. Kung Pao chicken is tremendous!

FANTASTIC! We live locally, and this is our go to. It is truly a hole in the wall - a place whose atmosphere and setting will leave you questioning but one bite will have you swooning! And the staff are exceptionally friendly. It is a near monthly visit, and I wish it was more!

I have had a lot of Chinese food in my day....huge portions for a great price, always fresh and great tasting food. I don’t even ever eat the rice because I'd rather fill up on the other food!!! Five stars no question!!!

Yes, it is a typical Chinese take-out restaurant - but probably the best I've ever had in this style of affordable Chinese take-out. Take my word for it - I'm a chef and I love Chinese take-out places like this. The place is always clean as could be and the food is always prepared perfectly. I recommend this place to everyone. If you go their regularly, they always remember you.

We ate there, everything was very hot except one soup. They serve in take out containers with plastic ware. I'd do carryout.
