The food was good for a buffet. But the cashier decided to charge a random tip. They charged my credit card without my permission. I guess they get away with it every time due to the small amount that doesn't worth a lawsuit. Will never go there again. Crooked!!!

I love this place! I go here for my birthday days,when I go school shopping, and when I get to pick a restaurant. I love their orange chicken and all of their choses like fruit, desserts, meats, sushi, noodles and rice, egg rolls, soups my favorite soup was definitely the hibachi love that. They have soft served ice cream and everything and it’s all included. 11 and under is about 8-9$ and adults are 15$ if your a senior they - a dollar. They have regular pops like Coca-Cola products. I love this place so much!

So the staff is so indifferent and unwelcoming it really feels like you are bothering them by being in their restaurant, but if you can get past that the food is AMAZING! Every item I chose was outstanding. I hate overcooked restaurant veggies, but all the veggies here were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I only wish we had a buffet this good where I live. Try the watermelon!

Great tasting food. Tip request for self-serve foods should not have been asked on checks. I will tell how I like.

One of the cleanest Chinese buffets I have ever eaten in. The food was very good. The staff were all very friendly and quick to refill drinks and check on us. It is a little pricier than most Chinese buffets I have been to, but given the quality I, I am happy to pay the premium.

Late 7:30pm dinner was kinda cold. Grill/Hibachi placed the bowl with cook and he or any other associates didn’t notify me my item was ready, so it was cold also undercooked.

Very warm and welcoming experience. The food is always consistent and amazing. The servers are always very kind and ensure a wonderful dining experience. I think it’s a great deal for all the variety of food on the buffet, definitely one of the best buffets in Bismarck.

As a visitor, Chinese is my favorite but, the food was so bland. Popstickers tasted so bad I almost puked. Even getting my food cooked was not so good.

Absolutely AMAZING I travel all over for work, and eat at a lot of places and this has to be one of the best buffets I’ve ever been to. Food was fresh, and delicious. Staff was friendly and prompt. Restaurant was super clean and well organized. Even the coke from the soda machine was better than most fast food places! If you’re wondering if this place is worth it, it is. And for 21.70 for a dinner plus a drink is crazy when it’s that good. It is an eat before you pay style establishment and I was unsure of the price, but I was ready and willing to pay over 30$ for my visit.

Stopped in for something to eat, and had a lot of options. Food was good, as was the service. The young blonde receptionist was very polite as was the server. Would recommend and will be stopping out again!

A very good Chinese restaurant in Bismarck

Bring back the crab legs. Add more of an 'Asian' cuisine. Quite over priced for primarily American food at a "Chinese" restaurant. Y'all ain't got nothing on Minots location. (My thought) Why are there so many Americans working here? Part of the experience was the great Asian service- they must not pay the help very well.

We went to China Star on a very busy Friday evening. The staff was so good about checking on us and getting our drinks and refills. They even got our 2 kids fun balloons. The food did not disappoint. Sushi was so good, loved the bacon wrapped chicken. Kids' favorite was, the noodles and desserts.

I have visited this place countless times & this recent experience was disappointing. I went to make my own lo mein selecting my noodles, varieties vegetables & sauce. Everything started well until the new cook prepared my food. With all due respect, the new cook needs to learn to cook without pouring water onto the food, resulting which diluted the flavor & sauce, resulting in my tasteless dish. I greatly prefer the former cook who knew how to properly prepare the meals.

The sushi guy at this restaurant was really rude he wanted me to pay for sushi when it was part of the buffet.i wouldn't have paid for a buffet if I was going to be charged to get sushi edit: I'm not nidia, this was a couple of weeks ago I had gone to get a dessert roll and the guy told me no in a really rude way.

Went to sushi and ask for a roll, the chino told me we need to pay him for the roll. I thought this place is a buffet?

I haven't been to this location in Bismarck but everything was Delicious and I would make it a point while in Bismarck to stop in for another visit

If you want a hardy meal that also tastes good, this is the place. They do Mongolian witch I love because spicy is in short supply around Bismark. The Mongolian is as spicy as you male it. Also, soft serve ice cream. Big salad selection and even some sushi. 10 out of 10 would recommend

China Star is a typical, but very good Asian buffet. They have a Hibachi station, but I didn't take advantage of it. There is a station with a wide variety of sushi. Drinks included with the price of the buffet are coke products and iced tea. Beer is available for an extra charge.

Got some food to go (sesame chicken, sweet & sour pork, Mongolian chicken, fried rice). Food was hot and very tasty. Portions were huge! Would definitely go here again.

Food was ok, service was good, dining experience not so much. Seated near a table with unruly children made the dining experience terrible, several others dining in the immediate area were also uncomfortable and disgusted. Management should have spoken up....

Good to very good as far as a asian buffett goes. many many many choices for food. american and asian. I cannot imagine everybody in your group not being happy with some sort of food. there is everything to choose from. not sure on some of the other reviews about rude staff.... everybody, and I mean every worker was very attentive and friendly during my visit. plates were cleared quickly, and people always asked if I was satisfied.

Excellent Chinese food buffet with a large selection. not only is the food almost always fresh, but the restaurant is clean as well. Don't forget to take advantage of their great sushi and Mongolian grill.

The food was decent. The service was great. And for Christmas they gave us a little gift.

While the food may be pretty good, but you have to watch out for the severing staff trying to scam you out of tipping them more than you normally would. My family and I went just this Sunday 11-26-23 our bill was $59 and somehow I wound up being charged $68! So go eat there at your own risk of being literally stolen from!

So weird that you can’t even sit where you want at a buffet. There was a nice peaceful looking section where they put all the elderly people but nope they just had to sit us in the busiest section with loud kids at every table. Very limited food menu. Start using that middle buffet aisle again! Only one fried rice option and it’s always dry. The few chicken options taste decent upon first bite but they quickly become gross as you continue eating. Half the chicken items will be over cooked and hard. The food quickly went through me as well so maybe try here if you’re constipated and need help.

Excellent buffet that offers pork ribs, and ribeye steaks. They also have a sushi bar, and Mongolian grill. Have eaten here 4 times, and every time has been great!

Honestly, I'm not even a huge buffet person; my wife is. This place was actually legitimately good, in my honest opinion. Food was very good. Server was amazing and gave our daughter a balloon at the end that she loves. It was just a good experience.

legitimately the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Went at the height of the dinner rush where dishes were being brought out fresh and everything was still gross. Everything is either undercooked or extremely overcooked and crunchy. The only thing even remotely edible is the soft serve ice cream. Don’t waste your time or money. There are better Asian restaurants in town that won’t give you food poisoning.

It was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet was well stocked and was of better quality than what I have seen in other Chinese buffets in other cities and states. They should be proud of what they have done here. It's really a great value to quality ratio.

Better than the other one which was dark, gloomy and barely have a full variety like ICE CREAM, Maki Rolls (sadly no sashimi) but it has Pho, typical ASIAN menu like mongolian beef, chicken mixed vegetables and RICE. This is going to be my go to "bring your first time visiting people" here for the hassle of choosing what to eat.

Way over priced for the quality of the food. Paid over $50 for 2 adults and 1 child but none of us finished our plates of food. Will not be returning.

This place is the worst!. The food was cold in some dishes like my sweet sour chicken, spring rolls and noodles and rice. My spring roll was dried out, and pepper chicken was hard and dried out. When it came time to pay, I grew restless and was going to the front as she took our credit cards. Meanwhile, it laid in a checkout tray unaccompanied while she waited on someone else's bill/change. I'd never go back..

I do not recommend this restaurant, first, the employees are rude except for that 1 nice lady. The food is not good, sushi is dry and not fresh, other food in the buffet were awful. The mongolian sauces were bland. We were better off eating at fast food restaurant. My kids only got 1 plate and that was enough for them to not go back. They were so hungry when we got back to the hotel cause they could not eat the food.

We stopped to pick up a lunch to go. The food was fresh and varied and one take away box cost $17.00 which was plenty for 3 people to eat.

My new favorite Asian buffet! The sushi sashimi was made before my eyes. Some of the best I have ever tasted! Make SURE to tip because you WILL LOVE IT!

The buffet had a great fruit and desserts, the rest I would never go back to eat. The restaurant was too packed. I didn't try the sushi bar as my appetite was turned off by the buffet.

I'm not sure why there are negative reviews concerning China Star. We were a group of 8 people and everyone commented how good the food was. And at $17 a plate it certainly is reasonable. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The egg drop soup was probably the best I've ever had, with lots of egg in it. Would definitely eat there again if we're in the area.

I couldn't have been more happy with my experience with China Star. We walked here from our hotel and the staff and food are amazing. The dumplings are the best I've ever had at a buffet. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend.

Everything was good, they had sushi during a lunch weekday, and I wondered why I had stopped going. The bill came, $15 for me at lunch, $6 for my 6 year old $6 for my 3 year old! Zero drinks. $6 is steep for a toddler. That is the price for chick fil a meal which includes a drink, protein, side, and ice cream. Still he shares it with his brother because he is too tiny to eat all that. Unfortunately that plus a tip is too much. The other buffet is $1.95 for him with a drink!

People who work in the kitchen sometimes go out to put anything where they have to place them, they do not greet, they do not have uniform, they do not walk clean.

Rude waitress. They decide where you want to sit. If you won’t agree, they will speak in their own language. Rude front desk employee. Not friendly at all. They don’t smile at all. The only thing i want is the sushi and the guy that makes it is so nice. The girls who works there? Nevermind. They are RUDE!

Had a lovely buffer dinner with my family & friend's just now , almost a years I have not see them they come there , lot of parking , the ambiance wow and very clean ! so impressed with the decor, amazing very spacious, airy, love the staff, they all did a fabulous job and gloves around the buffet stations, staff will serve the food on your plat, lot of varieties from sushi to seafood , meats to vegs and the most important Mongolian grill Amazing,quality not shabby at all, hot and fresh, on the weekend . vou also get a salmon , steak : hot and fresh, on the weekend , all the food stations are well stock up and clean, the price so cheap, very affordable , staff very friendly and helpful,no dirty plat can find on our table , I am so impressed for everything , I add on 20% Tips on the bill ! hoping I can come back here once more before I am leaving back to Bismarck ,so if you visiting there , This AYCE Chinese Buffet must try !

Staff was very friendly. The food quality on the buffet was poor, not worth $20.67 for one person. The Pot Stickers were terrible. The egg rolls (???) We're about the size of my thumb and tasted horrible. Maybe this is not normal for them, but this was my first time here, and I don't think there will be a second.

20 bucks for the buffet and I swear to God that I would pay 40 to have the aftertaste removed from my mouth.

Exactly what you would expect from a Chinese buffet, I would say it probably has the best food quality in town for a buffet though. Price is reasonable and they are generous on quantity for takeout.
