Great home cooked food !! Good service , good atmosphere

Unassuming place, not far off the interstate. Gets a lot of locals, probably less travelers. Glad we found this place, thanks to Google maps. The food and service did not disappoint. Food is cooked to order, but comes out timely and hot.

First-time visit. We will be back. Delicious food, reasonable prices.

Very nice employees! If you're looking for one of those quick lunch spots that's some good home cooking to hit the spot, this is it! Very well known and respected in our community. It's been around as long as I can remember.

We found this online and decided to check it out because of the good reviews, and we are delighted to report that this is the best restaurant in Brookhaven. The owner, Chester Chism will greet you at the cash register while you peruse the menu on the wall behind him, and he will gladly answer any questions you might have about the menu. We both had cheeseburgers and onion rings. One thing you will notice is that the hamburger is authentic, made with real beef, season to perfection. This isn't your typical fast food hamburger, this is the best hamburger you'll ever eat in your lifetime. The onion rings, also authentic, are to die for. We went back to Chism's Diner the next day to sample other items on the menu. The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is better at this restaurant than it is in Philadelphia, PA. The meat of the sandwich melts in your mouth. As far as I'm concerned, you will not get a better Philly Cheesesteak sandwich anywhere on planet Earth. I took two bites of this sandwich, and reordered another one for my midnight snack. I should have ordered a third one for breakfast the next morning. So if you live in, or get a chance to visit Brookhaven MS., this should be the first and only location you should eat at. Everyone in the diner it's hard at work creating masterpieces that will melt in your mouth. Pricing is very reasonable as you will not have to spend more than about $30 for two people. So when I come back to Brookhaven Mississippi, this will be the only restaurant that we will eat at for both lunch and dinner.

Let me tell you about the best burger in town with crinkle cut fries in this very casual dining restaurant. We felt right at home with great service and food. Hubby got whole fried catfish which he said was outstanding!!! We will definitely be back again!

I had the shrimp plate and my husband had the chicken tenders plate. Both were excellent and very reasonably priced. I got about a dozen shrimp, fries, cole slaw and 2 slices of bread. My husband got 4 large chicken tenders, fries and bread. Both meals were under $20 total. Everything was very tasty. Thanks for a great meal. I sure wish I lived closer.

First time there...wonderful food!

This diner ain't fancy and it ain't trying to be. It is just serving amazing food. The fried catfish was the best I've had in years. And the fried shrimp are spot on. The fried green tomatoes also didn't disappoint. And the service is excellent!

Casual soul food dining. The food was delicious and served hot. I got the lunch special and it was $8.95. Great deal in my eyes. Everyone was friendly. It gives off a homey vibe from the 1990s. I’ll be back!!!

Chisims diner is the best soul food in the south . I have never had a restaurant experience like it . The food was excellent, the atmosphere was outstanding, and the prices were low . I paid $12 dollars for the lunch special and it was so much food. I didn’t want to eat it all because it so much but it was so good . Please try this place.

Best Cheeseburgers, Fish and Chicken around. We were passing thru and saw this restaurant. After reading the reviews we decided to stop. Definitely worth it. The food was fantastic and made fresh. Will definitely go back when in the area again.

Let me just say that I am glad this restaurant is located an hour away. Otherwise, I would be there at least 3 times a week, and I don't think my wallet could handle that. The food is delicious, the customer service is amazing, and the prices make me feel like I am stealing because they are so low and reasonable! I ordered the cheeseburger combo for $7. It was well worth it! This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in Brookhaven.

Doublemeat cheeseburger - best I've eaten on the road. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you get extra napkins. Very reasonably priced.

Fish and burgers are very good. They need another deep fryer for fries and other side items. You can tell everything is being fried in the same grease and it's taking away from the side items.

Came by to try it out for the first time, on a Friday at 10:30am, and it was closed with no explanation as to why. Their sign on the door and online hours both say that they open on Friday’s at 10. But they were closed. We drove from almost 40 minutes away to try it out.

We just happened to come across Chism's Diner. I had the plate lunch of red beans and rice and my husband had fish. Both were delicious!! Prices were very reasonable and the food was so fresh!!

My sister and I were in town for a wedding and the AirB&B we stayed at said "Chism's has the best hamburger in Mississippi!" That is not true...We think it's the best in the Southeast! The food was awesome, and the service was even better. We came back the next day for a plate lunch. Best red beans and rice ever. They would give New Orleans a run for their money! We can't wait to come back to visit again when we are in the area. A+++!!

The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and helpful. I would be back just on the basis of his friendliness. Ordered 2 BLT'S sweet potato fries and hush puppies and Holy cow the BLT'S were nothing short of amazing. I cannot state how amazing the people and quality of food are here. Definitley will be back

Food has been very tasty. I've only visited twice. Catfish is prepared very well. Burgers are very tasty!Fried okra was a miss for me. Staff is personable. Will definitely visit again!!! My mother and niece had a disappointing experience and the management, on duty, did nothing to rectify the poor presentation of the order. Having an issue, is not the primary focus. It's how the issue is handled. That's what is remembered and passed on to others.

The food is AMAZING! Best place I have never heard of! Our family ordered cheeseburger, BLT, shrimp, fries, tator tots, hush puppies and fried green tomatoes. ALL was delicious! The sweet tea is TO DIE FOR. The staff was great and so personable. Really wish they were closer to home but we definitely will be returning to Chism's Diner anytime we are within a 50 mile radius. No doubt! Cannot rave about this place enough!

If yall haven't tried the burgers here, you haven't eaten a burger. Period. Extremely affordable when they could easily charge more. Definitely worth checking out.

Best Burger I had in my life. Double cheese burger everything on it, no tomato or Bacon. 4 Stars because of - Unfortunately no dine-in or bathrooms allowed "due to Covid" although google maps says dine in allowed! But hey, food is great, 5 stars!

They give you a big slice of tomato on each side of the patty.The burger is wrapped in a foil wrapper that keeps it hot longer. The food was excellent. Their fish plates are really good.

I've haven't tried everything but I have come here 3 days in a roll to have what I can only call the goat of all burgers. It has the right amount of everything undoubtedly and cost next to nothing

Fried Trout sandwich and fries were good, but not much separated it from any other fried fish. They were out of Gumbo which is what I originally went to try. They were out of any greens or vegetables. Pretty Good, but nothing outstanding.

Found this gem on Google Maps. Right off highway. It is NOT fancy by any means, but the burgers are fantastic. My husband got a double hamburger and I got a single cheeseburger and we had an order of French fries and onion rings and our bill was less than $15.

Had a carry out catfish dinner and my sides were cole slaw,potato salad& bread it was very tasty freshly done was ready when promised When visiting Brookhaven Mississippi I'm sure to go back again was very delicious nice clean spot

It was good. Basic Southern fare. We went at lunch. I had fried chicken, rice and gravy, fried okra and cake. My wife had shrimp poboy, it was good. They have fish, pretty large menu. We will go back when we get a chance.

The breading on the catfish was seasoned well & perfectly cooked. The burgers were juicy. The fried green tomatoes were sliced thin & crunchy. We plan to return again.

No meatloaf here! This is not your typical Diner, put more of a chicken and fish place! While they do have hamburgers, the menu is filled with fried foods from Catfish and trout, to Hush Puppies, chicken, Etc. They do have gumbo and my catfish was delicious, even though I went there looking for meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans! The outside looks dismal but the interior is beautiful bright and fresh and clean! The only vegetable to be found is coleslaw! I also got fried oysters which were very good even though I normally do not eat fried food.
