We love Congdon's! Great donuts and breakfast food - and the food trucks at Congdon's After Dark are really a great set (rotating attendance, so check that night's schedule before going)

My family starts dreaming of Congdon’s donuts as we get close to our vacation. When we come back home, the kids say they can’t eat other company’s donuts anymore because Congdon’s donuts are melt in your mouth amazing and nothing can compare to them! Congdon’s has ruined us. Everything else is mediocre. Their service is amazing. Even when it is busy, we have always been treated with kindness and patience. Congdon’s is in our opinion a bright shining star! It is as much a part of our yearly vacation as the ocean and the sand!

I absolutely love Congdons. You cannot beat the quality of the food and of course the doughnuts. The best doughnuts around.

My partner's family have been loyal customers for decades, whereas I am a relative newbie from out of the area and was just introduced to this tradition about 5 years ago. I finally had the honor of making the Congdon's run last week. Two baker's dozens later and the whole crew was as satisfied as can be. Always so good, and it was great to finally experience your awesome, way-too-energetic-for-that-early-in-the-morning crew!

I love congdons every time I am in the area I stop. The lines are very long which I accept but this time I placed an order and the person who put in the order made mistakes for example I ordered chocolate butter crunch and she put in system chocolate coconut and increased quantity of chocolate coconut leaving off other items. I read sign that these are kids first job but this was completely mixed up. I ordered glazed donut and received glazed cake. Also I understand costs going up etc but prices are getting very high. Also this is my birthday month and saw sign for $5 off in birthday month and was told you should receive in mail. I did not. I gave her my membership card. I receive your emails and like the jokes and updates. Why wouldn’t they send via email? I miss the restaurant for breakfast. I loved your lobster Benedict and use to look forward to it. Unfortunately no longer available

A must stop if you come to Wells Maine. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Excellent quick service, pricey but you can't get anything like it.

Delicious donuts! Taste very homemade. We did the drive through because we happened upon the location and it was raining. They also kindly made us decaf iced coffees which not a lot of places have so that always makes me happy. We tried six donuts and all of them were good. Our favorite was the blueberry fritter and the honey dip

Awesome food. Don't go if counting calories! Family owned and long standing reputation for excellent service and food. Every possible combination you could think of, including plain to maple bacon crunch,. Sandwiches, scones, bagels, breakfast bowls, fritters, fritter combinations, muffins, etc. Check online for their full menu. Not sure about ordering ahead. You have to be there to place order. At least that's what I saw. They even have tshirts, mugs, etc. Bake daily. Open around 6am and closes at 2, every day. Even had a sign for when limited flavors available. I was there at 730 and had a slight line. In and out pretty quick. About 10 minutes for me. There were around 5 or 6 people on the counter. You order, pay, and then go set in waiting area for them to call name. 6 donuts for around $18. Around $10-20 for sandwich or bowl. Even gluten free donuts. If your looking for an amazing donut... huge, fluffy, fresh...this is the place you want to go. My favorites were the honey glazed donut holes. Lots of room for parking.3 parking lots with some handicap places right up close to the building. They even have cocktails and beer and special donuts for that too! Some umbrella covered tables and picnic tables, and even a canopy covered set of long picnic tables within walking distance of place. Even if there is a line, sooo worth the wait! Well deserving of their reputation! The lines can sometimes look daunting but it moves pretty fast. And from 4 - 8, they have food trucks from all over plus one of their own for pick and choose whatever you feel like eating . They call it Congdon's After Dark. Every late afternoon during the season. If you are in the area, you really should go try it. I'd give this place 6 stars if they had that rating here.

This is a must stop for many on vacation. The set up is efficient but only works if your order is put in correctly. Half our donut order was wrong. It's still a great donut but disappointing if you get something you're not expecting. Update***you can order ahead online*** there are stipulations as to when your order needs to be in and when you must pick them up, however this can be a game changer. We also used the online menu to plan ahead and used the drive thru. This saved us a ton of time and made us aware of the ordering mistakes we made on our last trip. The website made our last experience so much better than what we experienced in the early spring.

Although there can be long lines at times, it has amazing food, friendly staff, and a very local, comfortable atmosphere that overall makes for a great experience! As an avid traveler I can say these are definitely delicious in terms of local, homemade doughnuts. Definitely recommend if you happen to be in Wells!

As expected inflation has hit this local gem. $33 for a dozen donuts is tough, but always worth it for hand made fresh donuts. Highly recommend the blueberry fritter. The classic donuts are their best. Jelly, honey dip, chocolate frosted. Just can’t beat it. Their iced coffee is also some of the best around. Since it’s usually a one time treat every year, I plan to try the muffins and other bakery treats they have. Also saw a sign advertising their own beer which I will for sure be back for. Lines are long but move quickly. Get there early!!

Always a hit with the family, year round each time we visit the great state of Maine! I get up early, do the selecting, and have them on the breakfast table before anyone else is out of bed. If you like doughnuts, you’ll love Condon’s. If you don’t like doughnuts, you will after eating a Congdon’s doughnut.

Congdon's is a staple of the Wells area and one of the best donuts I have found in travels all across the country, consistently making the best quality and variety of fried treats with something for everyone to enjoy.

The only donut place worth going to if you're in Maine (unless you're a potato donut person, they don't have those). We routinely drive all the way from Vermont just to get donuts from Congdon's for our entire family. We are so thankful for the option to online order so we can just pick up when we get there and get our favorite flavors. Before online ordering, we would get up at 3am to get there right when they opened to make sure we got the flavors we wanted. Now we can take our time getting there and just pick up at the counter. So quick, convenient, and delicious! We will sometimes wait for some fresh made breakfast sandwiches, which are the best we've ever had (sausage, egg, and cheese on a biscuit is enough for breakfast and lunch). We have also had their coffee and hot chocolate and find them to be not worth buying (burnt coffee, watery hot chocolate).

Staff are wonderful and the food is delicious.

We've enjoyed going to Congdon's for a while now and there wasn't a lot of negatives to give. The only thing I would say is the place you stand to wait for your food was small so we felt crowded in with the other customers. But besides that, the food and the service was very good.

The service is outstanding- as busy as it gets, there’s a welcome smile on every employee. A visit to Maine is never complete without at least one visit to Congdon’s! I highly recommend the bacon, egg and cheese on one of their cheddar biscuits. SO GOOD!

Amazing donuts and breakfast! We come to Wells a few times a year and stopping at Congdons is a must. The donuts are amazing, the blueberry fritters are to die for, and the corned beef hash bowls are a family favorite! The service is always wonderful and they are always accommodating.

A little pricey, but out of this world. The doughnuts are amazing. Most bakery items are homemade.. but go early.. Everytime I go even in the morning, the lines are long for restaurant and bakery line. I will say it's always well worth it!! Updated 6/16/24 disappointed it's not a full restaurant anymore. I like their donuts, but not worth it for just a small "git-n-go" . I ended up just leaving, I wanted a full meal while visiting, and the line was too long for just a donut.

So GOOD! So FRESH! This trip we got 2 breakfast sandwiches, 2 muffins, 2 fritters, 2 Donuts and a box of doggy Donuts! Even the English muffins on the sandwiches were the best ever! No longer do the have the lobster Benedict however. That was disappointing. I'll be back everytime im in the area, from Florida!

Update: Two years later and the doughnuts are just as delicious. Pro-tip: if you don’t live close the apple fritters freeze well and are still delicious weeks later when you’re in need! As all the other reviews will tell you-this place has the best doughnuts! The line moves quickly and everything else I’ve tried has been amazing too (whoopie pies, breakfast sammies and bowls). Apple fritter is my favorite.

When we’re in Wells, we make sure to get doughnuts from Congdon’s. We enjoy all their breakfast options, the staff are so friendly, and we appreciate having a drive thru option!

Finally got to go to Congdon's Doughnuts!! Everytime I have wanted to go it was busy but not this time. Got a sandwich and my daughter got 2 doughnuts brought it back to our place and enjoyed it on the patio with some Mimosas. We went back on Sunday to bring some back home went thru the drive - thru. Drive thru was busy we waited about 25 minutes to order our stuff but we had time to kill which was ok.

A good doughnut, and worth the wait. The coffee was a disappointment. Way better than Dunkin!

I don’t know if there’s an award or something for best donuts but if there is this has to be the place! They are literally the best donuts I’ve ever had! I don’t care if there’s a long wait this place is worth it. I didn’t even go, my husband did and he said it was busy rightfully so! But he said there were a ton of workers & it moved fast! So they are on top of their game. And like I said even if there ends up being a long line - it’s worth it trust me! I can’t wait to be back in Maine and come here again! I’ll legit wait an hour long line if I have too lol
