First, I'm in love with the soups ! Well, since I'm always particular about where I eat, customer service, and energy in a place, I will give this place 4 stars and not 5 because of the shallow energy ( young lady at the register shows great customer service and remembering the frequent customer is a plus for me. Indeed, my Turkey panni (warm) always 😋 hit the spot!

Visiting from Milwaukee and i stumbled upon this little place. I was craving a prosciutto sandwich and with it being a Sunday not many Italian deli’s were open. I trekked through the pouring rain for this place. Ordered The Contessa and it exceeded all expectations. I would drive 2 hours from Milwaukee simply just for this sandwich.

tremendous italian deli. prices are low in the way that only long-standing, neighborhood gems are low. i grabbed a meatball sub with cheese and giardiniera and the proportions were perfect. a comment below criticized the decor and im genuinely offended that they did. when you see an Italian deli that looks like conte di savoia you KNOW it's going to be incredible. frankly i hope they never change the decor. businesses like these are what make cities great. it's not a quick trip from the north side, but i will absolutely be back. i also WANTED to get a cannoli, but forgot. next time. edit: will say, went back and the sandwich was a lot worse. very disappointing, but still pretty inexpensive.

I see a lot of people commenting on The Frank, and for good reason. It’s the first ‘specialty’ sandwich I had here and is amazing. If you’re looking for something more simple, The Contessa is absolutely fantastic. Fresh Mozzarella cheese and Prosciutto Di Parma, with a little lettuce. Adding roasted red peppers is something I like. Photos will never do this sandwich justice! (photo also has extra meat). So far I haven’t had a sandwich here I didn’t thoroughly enjoy Easy 5/5

I really liked the food but the reason I am giving this a 1 star is because I don’t appreciate your cashier adding her own tip on my bill. Didn’t even mention anything. Just tried to be slick about adding it to the bill which I feel is unacceptable. She literally rang me up and that was it. I would’ve been way happier to give my money to the cooks who actually made my sandwich. I’m also not expecting the girl to be super enthusiastic, but at least act like you give a damn. So uninterested and was on her phone while ringing me up? What’s that about. The beef sandwich was really good but I will most likely not go back.

Does not have a welcoming environment to people of color. This is my 2nd visit. I felt this way on my first visit, but wanted to make sure it wasn't an implied basis. The workers did not seem worm or welcoming to non italalian looking customers and ignored me while I was in line proceeding to the custumer behind me as if I was not there in line. I will not be returning even though the sandwiches are good. I won’t spend my money in an environment in which I didn't feel welcomed.

Having read some of the bad reviews here, I have to say the service would have to be really bad for me not to give this place at least 4 stars. It's that good. 1-16-2023 Stopped in around 1:00pm. Ordered the Contessa and a ham sub. These would have delicious except the bread was so hard it tore up the inside of our mouths. Not even the microwave trick helped soften the bread. Quality is going down while pricing is going up. Disappointed. (8-17-2021) Tried the Rosie today. It’s like an upgrade of their Italian sub. Prosciutto cotto, volpi genoa salami, hot coppa and provolone. These are all ingredients I LOVE, but somehow I prefer the regular Italian sub? May have to do a side by side. The Rosie tastes decent, but it’s saltier. I’m sure some people might not even be able to tell the difference though. Conti de Savoia has the best sandwiches on Taylor St (and there are a lot of sub/sandwich shops in this area). They continue to have very reasonable pricing while others have had price hikes. Their bread is a little hard sometimes but 5 seconds in the microwave fixes that. Service is hit or miss, depends on who you get. But I guess I don’t really care as long as my sandwich is good.

We have been going to Conti for 25 years. Their sub sandwiches are off the chart, and it's one of the few places I can find Italian imports. My only complaint is their cannolis. Not the taste of them but the quantity. The last 5 times I have purchased the cannolis, they are maybe 1/3 filled (see pictures). I have called and complained several times, and today, I asked them to please make sure they were filled. They looked at me and giggled. When I served them tonight after dinner, I was again disappointed. To do the job correctly, maybe they should use a pastry bag instead of a spoon. Or maybe charge you a third of the price since that is what you are getting!

It's hard to imagine a more popular sandwich shop in Chicago than Conte Di Savoia, an Italian gourmet grocery story with a counter-serve deli for sandwiches, subs and salads that has been in business since 1948. Located at 1438 West Taylor Street, between Loomis and Ashland, in the city's Little Italy neighborhood, it is a go-to destination for students of St. Ignatius College Prep and the University of Illinois-Chicago. Lines are especially long during the lunch hour. Open from 9 to 6 Monday through Saturday and 9 to 4 on Sunday, this is a takeout operation that caters to young customers who prefer to snack on traditional sandwiches between classes and stuff them in their backpacks. Among the most popular items on the menu are the Italian sub with ham, salami, capicola and provolone, the meatball sub with cheese, Italian beef and corned beef, salami, turkey, tuna salad and egg salad sandwiches with lettuce, tomato and mayo. To satisfy your sweet tooth, tiramisu hits the spot.

I've heard so many good things about this place. "Alex, try this place if you want a great sandwich! They have amazing food!" I went there today with my 13 year old daughter and too be honest I was not impressed with the service. My daughter and I were the only customers in the store and checking it out. Because apart from people talking good about this place. We also saw the episode on Chicago's Best on YouTube. And even that episode convinced me to go on the train from Elgin just to eat at this place. I mind you my daughter has Italian blood and she too was excited because it was her first time to Little Italy. To the owner of Conte Di Savoia please tell the late afternoon crew to be more friendly to the customers especially since it was just the two of us. And the young lady behind the register.... I don't know how old she is but even my 13 year old noticed her attitude. I strongly believe that the quality food you have should also reflect on the quality of employees that work there.

It's been a while...but I have to say, Conte is still the best when it comes to old school Taylor St. Italian subs. Back in 2004 when I was still on the job, I was eating here about three days a week and driving in on Saturdays to pick up a 10 lb box of homemade Italian sausage which is fantastic !!! Anytime I had a party or a BBQ the number one question from family and friends was "Anthony, where did you get the Italian sausage?" And that just speaks for itself.
