The food was so good it made my tongue wanna slap my brains out! Grandma I love your cooking!! The hot brown, potato salad and black and white cake were so yummy I can't wait to come back. Big portions. I also took carry out and everything so fresh still when I got home. Thank you!

A perfect place for what feels like a home cooked meal. The chicken salad is delicious and the people are so sweet! The white almond cake is addictive and the slices are huge!

I recently dined here, while the service from the waiters was good. The atmosphere wasn’t quite enjoyable. I was quite unsettled when I witnessed the manager being rude, and commanding things from her staff. She spoke to them in an unkind and demanding manner.

The food was excellent, and at a good price. The deserts are homemade and fantastic we tried two, and the slices are big enough for two people. Real home feel atmosphere!

I visited Cottage Cafe for dessert on my birthday. Not only was the dessert amazing, but everyone there went above and beyond to make my day special.

My partner and I went into Cottage Cafe on a whim and we’re so glad we did! The service was fantastic, and our food arrived to our table super quickly. We left with the last slice of coconut cream pie (it was delicious). We will definitely be back!

This is a small family owned Cafe with excellent food. The deserts are heavenly and most are old family recipes. Rachel was the gracious hostess.

I loved having lunch at this little cottage! The service was outstanding and everyone was so friendly and attentive. Food came out fast and fantastic sandwiches and salads! Loved the chicken salad sandwich and they did not shy away from the meat! But let’s talk about the real gem of this place…the dessert! Oh my heavenly goodness! Lots of mouthwatering options! I opted for the orange dreamsicle cheesecake and it was delightful! Will definitely eat here again!

Got the Wednesday lunch special, meatloaf green beans and mashed potatoes....not that impressed....not worth $14 .... only went because so many people was giving great reviews on FB... probably won't be back...

Good but a lot of money for what you get

It was a tad hectic, but to be fair I have not been here the pandemic. I recognized a couple ladies who have been on staff forever, but there was alot going on.

The staff! Aces! Unfortunately, they only serve lunch, no breakfast! Fresh cakes!

BIG, BIG SHOUT OUT to Cottage Cafe!!! Susie and her staff are absolutely amazing! I called Susie on Thursday to see if she could make an oreo birthday cake that our son requested. She did absolutely an amazing job on such short notice. Cottage Cafe will be my go to for our birthday cakes for now on! It’s homemade from scratch with real whipping cream. It’s huge and so moist - I can go on and on. If you haven’t visited Cottage Cafe in downtown old Middletown go. Thank you Susie! ❤️

Absolutely love this little place and the owner, Susan, and her staff, are quite wonderful. Service is fast and attentive and portion sizes are large. Quality of food is excellent, and desserts are what they're known for. And they go out of their way to employ special needs adults.

Nice little lunch place for a good, home cooked meal. Had the tuna melt, which was served open-faced with a slice of Provolone and a slice of American cheese. My friend had the Benedictine sandwich, which she said was good. Didn't skimp on the Benedictine.

Always friendly. Always delicious food. And the desserts... there's a reason they display them in case you see as you enter the restaurant. They are the biggest appeal of all. The portions are huge! Pro tip - order dessert before you order your food. It might run out if you wait until after you finish your meal.

Absolutely amazing cakes and pies. Some recipes passed down from generation to generation. The best kept secret in Middletown, KY. This little cafe is run by the sweetest family. Their homemade chicken salad is scrumptious. Light yet tasty and filling. I can't tell you in words alone how decadent everything we purchased and tried was. Highly recommend going to eat here or picking up a nice desert. We purchased the strawberry jelly cake roll. Oh my it was melt in your mouth. If you want a cute story ask about the flamingos! I met Rachael and her mom and they are some really good people. They put their all into their products and reputation. Support you local small businesses but also worth the drive if you aren't local.

First time to eat there . Server was nice . Salad was decent , didn't care for the "spring greens"lettuce too much . Salad dressing was like a relish which made it hard to keep the lettuce moist . My wife's sandwich was good . Next time lll have one ,

I found this gem of a cafe, which is about 3/4 mile from my home, by reading an article in the newspaper. One visit and I am a fan.

I celebrated my birthday last week and it was so delicious! Highly recommend the hot brown!!!! The Chocolate Decadent Cake was out of this world!!!! I ordered the Dreamcicle cake for an event tomorrow! The baker was so accommodating!!! This quaint restaurant is the best!!!

The cottage Cafe is a wonderful place if you want to eat good food! My problem was it was so noisy and loud in there you could not talk. Leaving and paying for your bill at the back door was crowded and unorganized.

Food and service were excellent. It was my first time there and will definitely go back. I need to try all of the desserts but the strawberry cake with pink icing was out of this world.

The owner is such a lovely woman. Always love to see her and the wonderful staff. Never disappointed every time I go. I love how the food is handmade and passed down generations. Definitely a spot you need to try once, twice, or a hundred times. The cakes are huge and generous. Only thing is beware if your tummy is sensitive to butter and dairy.

I want to start off by saying that my friends and I were rather excited to try this place at first. However, right when we walked in I noticed the place was filthy and very crowded but we decided to give it a chance. For starters, the waitress that served us wasn't wearing her mask over her nose. My friend asked if they had diet coke and she said "yes" and proceeded to bring her a Pepsi instead without telling her anything of it. We were still eager to give it a chance until she returned with our unwrapped silverware and set it on the bare table. At this point we decided this place was a health hazard and we paid for the drinks and left for somewhere much cleaner. Not to mention the very confusing/contradicting signs in the window saying "Black Lives Matter & All Lives Matter" which were giving very mixed signals. Playing both sides of the fence, perhaps?

The legend of the Christmas Club! The Cottage Cafe in downtown Middletown is a bit hard to explain. It's an odd old house, still broken up like a maze by small rooms, whose primary residents are flamingos. In business for 27 years, you can feel the stories pouring from the walls...and in some cases see them. So given the unique nature of this spot, I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone. Enter..the Christmas Club..piled high on three wheat slices is homemade benedictine, sliced cucumbers, red onion, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and their roasted red pepper spread for good measure! It was definitely more than a mouthful and a surprisingly pleasant treat. I added potato salad which was candidly pretty bland but who can complain when we're talking $7.50 with chips, a hardboiled egg and a pickle? Give them a try if you're in the area. Wonderful lunch spot, only open from 11 to 3 , take the alley and park in the back, the entrance is in the back. Lunch specials every day, and a small menu, soup, sandwiches, and wonderful dessert place. We had the bacon and benedictine sandwich, deviled eggs, and a hot brown. The a huge piece of marbled cake and coconut pie. The food was large portions and outstanding! I took the chicken salad.and cake home!! Will definitely go back!

Great sandwiches, love the tomato dill soup! The Boston cream cake is a must have. Cute little cafe in downtown Middletown. They do get busy, but wait times aren't usually bad.

Enjoyed our visit! The wonderful friendly staff greeted us immediately, we received a tasty sample of desert. Lunch was wonderful, hot soup & chicken salad sandwich. Can not say enough about the wonderful deserts, I ended up taking 2 home with me. Will definitly return soon.

Really great down home experience, especially the folks running it. There’s a nice community in the area - everybody is friends - a really nice pair of pottery places on the corner up the hill - when you enter you’re given your choice of a forkful of cake, then straight to your table - we had their famous Benedictine sandwich on rye & a thin sliced ham + a chocolate milk shake - all very nice - one comment: tables & floors were uncomfortably dirty - not like globs of residue but the place needs new tableclothes & floors need sanding & repainting - just wiping a clear plastic cover didn’t make it for us

My friends and I love this place. Susan is so special and Donna and the rest of the staff is too. But we keep coming back for their food! Best desserts in town and very generous dessert portions. Just a fun experience!

I had lunch with some friends earlier this week and it was FANTASTIC. Greeted at the door with samples of some of their wonderful cakes. Great service and excellent food. Really enjoyed it and will return. Now I know why my wife and friend are "regulars" there.

Food was good. The place kinda run down. The food reminded me of Flag Fork Herb Farm (no longer in business - Lexington) I just wish the ambiance was the same. They definitely need something to soften the volume, maybe hang a tapestry or quilt up. Waitress and staff very pleasant.
