If the service weren't so dismissive, rude, and unfriendly, this would be a cool bar.

Their events are fantastic, the vibe is top tier, the drinks are good, and the staff is always friendly.

A Group of about 10 of us were out celebrating my sons 21st bday. We decided to check this bar out and immediately upon entering we were discriminated against. The Bar keeper was extremely rude. When we walked up to the bar I had gestured to him saying he was so tall and he immediately went to the extreme yelling and saying he wasn't going to serve me because I put my finger in his face. When I say extreme I mean being erratic and walking back and forth behind the bar and raising his voice for the whole bar to hear. Which was really embarrassing. I walked out and went with the rest of my group who were waiting by a table we had picked. This is where another situation started to escalate between another member of our group and the front door guy who was checking ID'S. The guy was yelling at my friend and kicking him out of the bar. I tried to deescalate the situation by calmly asking the guy what had happened and he screamed at me and kicked me out as well. They also had taken my friends nephews ID and wouldn't give it back. Another member of our party decided to go in and ask for it and they lied and said they didn't have it. I wouldn't recommend this bar to anyone. No one deserves to be treated the way we were treated.

Horrible HORRIBLE bar!! We had a good group of us out and about last night and this bar ruined the evening for everyone!! I personally had walked to a table to save it for our group while a few other went inside to get a drink. While the ID guy checking ID’s cut off a couple of people which is fine but my nephew came back out and said they took his ID and wouldn’t give it back. WOW so I proceeded to go in with my nephew and politely just ask for it back and we would all leave. The guy working the front went ballistic screaming at the top of his lungs for us to just leave he wouldn’t hear a word we were asking… I kept looking at my nephew as I couldn’t believe this guy could treat us this way !!! Omg !! Another guy that worked there came over to ask us to leave again we weren’t trying to cause a scene we just asked for my nephews ID back …. They proceeded to keep it under no good reason and refused to give it back … Miserable bar horrible experience…They suck and all it looks like is a gothic hell whole!! Never ever going back there EVER !! The guy in the front should be fired !

Do not waste your time at this bar. Their staff are so rude and the bouncer thinks he is law enforcement. We went there with a group of seven to celebrate ours sons 21st on his leave from the military. Not only did they judge us the bouncer physically pushed my wife.

Showed DJ that I paid him to play a song which he didn’t play and he said “I’m going to call my lawyer.” ??? But I PAID HIM. I’’m very confused. He is going to call his lawyer because I paid him to play a song? I will never go back. It absolutely is not dark and goth as it was originally. It’s just another bar. Zero stars.

Cute bar with interesting offerings. Unfortunately when visiting, I guess the bartender on shift didn’t like our style, we waited for 20 minutes at the bar for him to acknowledge us and it never happened so we left. Only 2 other people were in the location at the time, so I’m not sure why the service was so poor

It’s a very much a you know someone there and are all of a sudden a part of the group or you go alone and no one is welcoming. Definitely close click high school style people

Cash Only bar. I’m sorry but there is no warning and I never carry cash. Bartender served my drink and I had to walk out. I never carry my debit card either. It’s 2024! Visiting from Colorado.

they let me bring in Mountain Dew, and then they'll keep it for months back there for me. Then I buy them bad boys back for 20 bucks a can. I mean, most bars wouldn't even entertain such an arrangement, but the staff and owners are amazing. I guess I should tell you that I do this because A) I don't drink and someone sitting not drinking is suspicious. probably a slasher or something like that and B) How else can I tip the bestest bartender on earth?

Uneducated bartender. Uses her fingers instead of words . Its rude and most of all, its a horrible communication skill that only 3 year olds use. We are adults aren't we?

Went to the cuntry hoedown event, over charged for a lame event, didn't even play country music? It was edm/house music. 15$ entry fee, we left early, not worth going

I love the initial atmosphere of this bar. It's dimly lit, has great drinks, and perfect for relaxing with friends in private booths....until you find yourself having to scream over the live band that starts playing. It completely ruins the vibe of the outting, unless you go there intending to see a band. I don't feel like the constant live music makes sense for the setup here. This is basically just a concert venue. I wish there could be one day (Friday or Saturday) that doesn't have live music. It's not sensory friendly like you'd intially think it is. It's a bummer.

Entered at 11:30, left at 11:40 last night. Lady behind the counter degraded me for not tipping, (in front of other customers by the way) when I was about to go to the atm to get more cash. Needless to say, will NOT be returning. Shame, Used to be my favorite bar.

Drinks were great. Definitely did not have a friendly bartender like some other patrons. Music inside the bar was definitely not what I was expecting for a goth bar.

My friend forgot to tip because he isn’t used to cash and the bartender like she yelled at him! So heart broken about this we usually go all the time and after this never again! The last inclusive place in oly is gone and you can’t feel safe here.

Lovingly deemed"the vampire bar" , an Olympia staple . Heavy pours, cheap prices. Inside you'll find what we call "Harvey Potter booths" easily intimate for conversations but still apart of the scene. You may even stumble upon live music. But if you do, you will not be able to converse easily as they only book bangers who are very loud. It's the only dive bar I want to go to,a total vibe. "Crown of bees" is my fav drink!

Always a great time at shows here. Sounds generally decent for the size of the place.

Don't trust the website, and don't ask the staff about events either or they get impatient and mad. How hard is it to keep your events updated?

Just so cool and inviting, and the programming is super diverse. There’s something for everyone here and I’m lucky to live so close!

I've been here a few times now, it's a fun place. But it's cash only, and at least one of the booths has an open hole in the ceiling where dust fell in my drink- that should definitely be covered. I prefer my cider without any nonconsensual mixers 😅 I love that it's a good place for community, such as the jam band on Mondays. Very unique and very Olympia.

Great place to chill with friends and listen to some music. I was there for my friend's band's gig and enjoyed the feel of this place. Dark, dingy, and just the perfect amount of dirty made this bar a winner in my book. If in Olympia, go check out Cryptatropa Bar!

Dark place for strong drinks! Looking to go to a edgy satanic bar? Look for further. Drinks are amazing.. good price for the money. Went to a karaoke night it was hilarious hard metals meets country line dancer. All types welcome.

Loved the atmosphere, some friends and us meet up last night all dressed up in garb and had a great time. The server was polite and amazing. Look forward to more visits.

We got tickets to a show and they closed the bar. At least update your website before folks pay for tickets and get nothing. Disappointed.

Super fun bar! I celebrated my birthday there with a friend and it was so much fun! The band playing was incredible, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere was awesome too!

The spigot next to the water was labeled "milk" but what came out what the thinnest, wateriest excuse for milk I've ever tasted! 😡 Probably some kind of liberal "plant based" alternative.

We finally made it to the Crypt and will definitely be back. Immediately felt comfortable and the staff were f’n great. The drink selection is pretty good and the drink I got was perfect alcohol ratio wise. Come check out a show here or just hang in the booths with friends. My partner and I loved that we could sit in a booth and listen to the band.

As soon as I got out my car a saw the bar. Live local bands play. The bartenders were sweet and made a well worth drink. It is on the loud side yet going Solo was cool too. Decor is incredible 😁.

I went into this bar with my friends and lost my ID and decided to reach out the next day to see if anyone had picked it up. I was unable to find a phone number and decided to reach out on Facebook. That’s where my issue arose. I asked the man who was in charge of the business account if he had seen it. I was then told to go there myself and see. I then further explained I wasn’t from the area and that it would be a great inconvenience to come down there and find out it isn’t there and proceed to ask if there was a number I could call. I was then told “phones are for boomers.” By him. The bar was fun until I talked with them after hours. I’d say this bar was unprofessional and disrespectful. As it should welcome all.

Its very bright inside, helps to bring a pair of sunglasses. Update: this place is great, and always getting better but there's so much sunlight you should probably also have sunscreen on hand as well.

Love coming to the Crypt!! Every Wednesday they have such a fun Karaoke that goes from 9p~12a! I try to never miss it. The employees are wonderful and you can tell they love working in such a cool spot. Goth-themed for anyone who wants to try something different, atmosphere is always on point. Love me some Crypt!

Love the way this place looks. It's cash only, but they have an ATM. I saw a comedy show here another time too. They have them every 3rd Friday.

Love this place! Well curated shows, great cocktails/drinks, amazing people and good vibes all around. Their patio shows when it’s nice out are especially sweet. The sound inside is amazing too. Definitely go see a show there, I recommend it!

Cash only bar. Excellent service. Consistent with live music (I hear). I just really dig the vibe there. While it is dark, everyone is friendly. The mixed drink was rather good. $10. There is plenty of room, and you can maintain a conversation amid the music.

Best karaoke spot I've been to in a while!!

Bartender was an artist. Made me a drink I'd never had before, based on what I told them I liked, and it was amazing.

Big goth atmosphere, great drinks. Look out for the hibiscus drinks! The staff is friendly and the clientele are pretty wonderful too.

Good vibes only 🤙 👁️👄👁️ Really queer friendly, good drinks. They add a slice of lime to vodka cranberries. Everyone else's reviews are pretty much spot on. There will probably be a cover charge any time there is music playing, so maybe check that in advance if that matters to you.

I'm sure a lot of people have their own stories about living here and coming here frequently. As an occasional visitor, it feels like a special dark gem to me. Great cocktails, dark atmo, and even a patio for summergoth vibes.

This place has a Goth Rock bar. Interesting decorations to add to the experience all over the place. Where there on a slow Sunday but the bartender says they have shows that range from Rock and punk to Drag and Berlesque. We were visiting for a day, we will be back for a show but is a great bar to stop for a drink. I had thier version of a Gin Ricky, its delicious!

Halloween 365. Cool place to watch a show, more space than I remembered. I like how they arranged booths and who can't like the cadaver table by the entrance? Good times! Service was quicker than expected too.

I love this place. There are lots of dark corners in which to commune. The drinks menu is always fun and they offer inexpensive snacks for that salt craving. They have unique events and a great staff.

Great Goth! "The Crypt", as it's known to us local vermin, is a rad little hipster bar downtown. They have decent shows regularly, a big bronze sculpture of Lucifer, an old ceramic autopsy table, outdoor seating, and weekly demon summonings. Bring the family! 😈 Update: It's still rad! Check out the best karaoke and cool bartenders at the Crypt!

The staff here are so fantastic and welcoming and loving here. They don't ever turn anyone away ever! This place even has the best decor and wildest too. Definitely love it & recommend it. Best spot for travelers to visit aswell! Definitely top best for Olympia!

Pretty great downtown bar. Cash only. They have a stage and many performers. Everyone here is nice and will spontaneously start conversations. No Seattle freeze at the Satan bar.

Great place, if you want to be anonymous or meet up with people in the darkness. Strangely it is the only place in town to get hot food after midnight during the week, in the form of delicious empanadas. The whisky ginger bites you back and so might the bartender if you are lucky. If you are in Olympia at night, go there.

They need to keep the bathroom clean. This is a business. I used to swear off this place specifically because of the bathroom, but after Covid they did such a good job that I went back. I was just there the other night and it’s gone back the way it was. It’s sooooo dirty. The bathroom is absolutely repulsive. Costumers deserve better. It’s not cool, or fun funky to be a health hazard. My shoes are still on my porch. Nasty.

Cryptotropa is the beating heart of many excellent bands from the surrounding municipality. The many bands which pass through include metal, punk, rave, bluegrass, and folk this is a solid venue to check out downtown. It's as though rock n roll never died here, McCoys across the way helps keep things punk.
