One of my family’s favorite ice cream places

Wow! Instantly walk into a blast from the past! We were taking the scenic route back to Ormund Beach after visiting Apollo Beach at Canaveral National Seashore and saw the old throwback DQ. It reminded me of the walk-up DQ in the little town I grew up in northern Oklahoma. We •had• to stop! This DQ, established in 1953, has been owned by the same family over all these years. Plenty of off-street parking and a building anticipation while you wait in line order, you’ll marvel at the vintage building and think about all the people who’ve been served over these many decades. They have daily deals and their hot dogs are only $1.29. Since we visited at 3:00 pm, and we’re planning to visit Charlie Horse in Ormund Beach (see my review there) later that night, I only wanted a little snack but I was really tempted to get a chili dog! The crew running the shop were quick and courteous. It was worth the stop. Great ice cream, good service, and a super fun experience, you’ll want to stop by if you’re in the area.

Great Ice Cream treats and fantastic atmosphere. The walk up window was quite a treat and sitting at the outside tables under the trees was a fun memory from the past.

The classic Dairy Queen! Like when you were a kid. Be prepared to wait a little. Take time to make friends and renew acquaintances there was never any hurry back then. Remember that taste? Sit at a table under the shade of a tree and enjoy!

Crazy busy but great ice cream there's always a crowd so try to go on off times if not there will be a wait. Great ice cream.

Such a cool "Old School" original Dairy Queen! Owned by the same family since 1953. Service excellent! Ice Cream delicious! Atmosphere takes you back to childhood. Spotless dairy bar! An absolute must when on the East Coast of Florida!

One of the best OG Dairy Queens I've ever been to! The service is always phenomenal and the waits, when there is a long line, are totally worth it! If you are looking for an authentic Dairy Queen feel like that from an era long gone, this is the place to come to!

Dairy Queen on Ridgewood in NSB has the best hot dogs there are! They not only have a high quality hot dog, but the buns are steamed, warm, and soooo soft! Not to mention their ice cream! Soft serve, and no matter if you have a sundae, shake, blizzard, whatever...if you like soft serve, you'll love DQ.

Everything was great, but can you explain to me please why none of the young adults that work there knew what a half dollar coin was and the manager refused to accept it as payment?

We went lastnight and got ice cream the mosquitoes are out of control we all got bit up so bad my 1 year old daughter has hives from being bit all over her body. Like how can people sit outside and enjoy ice cream when your literly being ate alive but mosquitoes and little tiny black ones as well that were sticking to our ankles and stuck in your hair, nose, mouth!!! They need to spray I am so disappointed. I will not be going back there ever again !!

Bugs are horrific! High speed fans don't make a dent while waiting on line....they bite you everywhere and follow you home in your car! OWNER NEEDS MASSIVE BUG KILLER TREATMENT!

Can't beat standing outside in line to order ice cream! The hot dog bun was so fresh it melted when i bit it! Great little spot!

Best little Dairy Queen around. Old style walk-up windows. Beautiful outdoor seating with shade and sidewalk chalk for the kids to be creative. The only downside to our visit was the no see ums bugs were out in full force. That is no fault of DQ. It's still always a fun blast from past experience.

Our local New Smyrna Beach Dairy Queen is a must visit for a tasty, inexpensive treat! Even when there's a line, it moves pretty fast. Great variety of Blizzards. Yum! Always friendly service.

Stopped by for a chili cheese dog - yum! Great service and prices. Great atmosphere too.

They do a very nice job there. I have one issue. Kids were allowed by their parents to run all around the patio jumping on plants in the flower beds. At one time I think I counted 6 kids climbing in a tree right above the seating area. Kids were standing on the table and jumping off. Kids were grabbing the umbrella's over the tables and running around in circles to make them spin. Kids will be kids, but how a parent could allow a child to act like this is beyond me. These same parent are going to wonder what happened to their kids when they get older. They had no respect for the restaurant owners property and equipment. These same parents will be the first ones to sue the restaurant if their child were to fall and get hurt. I will not be going back as we took friends there to relax, visit and enjoy some ice cream. What a zoo. I spoke to the restaurant and some young kid came out to ask them to stay out of the tree. That lasted about 2 minute.

This is a special place. A relic of the good times, good food, and good people!

It's dairy queen so you expect a certain quality atmosphere. The $2 banana splits is the best however they just recently reduced the size. I'd say it's no longer the great buy it once was but it's still good. Enjoy!

The ice cream was really good, and a big portion for the price. There are outdoor tables and chairs as well

What a cool old school Dairy Queen

It's ice cream heaven. There are specials every night. Wednesday is banana splits. Another night the hot dogs were two for the price of one which equals $1.29. I always get the chocolate covered vanilla ice cream cone.

Honestly, I've always considered myself pretty lucky having the Dairy Queen in Moorhead, MN, as my local DQ. For the first time, I can say I've found one that may rival or equal that DQ. We ordered a kids cone, malt, blizzard, and 4 hot dogs, and the bill with tip was under $20...I don't think that exists anywhere else. The quality of all the food was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (I did have a question). They had chocolate ice cream, which isn't always the case at DQ. I think my only regret was not ordering a dilly bar. The reason being I would've been able to verify if dilly bars are made in-house or if they sell the corporate DQ dilly bar (which are trash, sorry). Anywho....it was a great experience, and I hope to pass through there again.

We come here every time we're in Florida. The outdoor seating is amazing, year round. The staff is friendly and I don't know of many places still selling hot dogs for $1.25.

2/20/2024 Best service, best staff and the most efficient I have seen!!! The place was sooo busy and the staff kept going with smiles on their faces!! It was the best blizzard I have EVER had!! The most chocolaty and had the recess and peanut butter cups to the bottom!!! Thanks so much, you made my night!! Best supper ever!!

I love these old time DQ's that are not food stores. This one is on of those and they are just fun when the weather is good. They have plenty of seating around the building and well designed. The staff were very friendly and quick filling our order. Will stop in again when in the area.

visited on 10/12/23. Absolutely perfect. Staff is incredible. Hot dogs are so good I can't even think of another place that could compete. Kids loved it. Hands down, the best DQ I've ever been to.

It’s ice cream. Tastes great. Sad thing is that it wasn’t even that hot outside and I was served partially melted ice cream. I didn’t say anything because they were busy, but just be careful when you grab it from them. It may spill.

Love there Thursday hot dogs special. I love these hot dogs but somebody that kitchen needs to check the temperature on the sauerkraut everytime I order this it's always cold and have to send it back. I don't take it to my table no more check it right there at the window because it's hard to get back up their return something when people are there and inline waiting.

The ice cream was good. The line was insane for a cold day in Florida. They need to figure out how to open more windows or something to move the lines a little faster. Think I was in line for 25 minutes.

Very nice atmosphere. Outdoor seating was nice (except some lil knats/ bugs kept flying around my face and biting my guest on her legs)? Probably that time of the day (around sunset)😳 The chili dogs were delicious 😋 The banana split was super yummy 😋

I wasn't a fan of the ice cream (it tasted like cool whip to me which I don't enjoy) but the slushies were excellent.

Excellent service and prices! Where else can you get a "Dairy Queen" banana split for only $2 on a certain day?? You can hear, along with a hot dog that's only $1.19 with toppings FREE! This place definitely did not use Covid as a way of raising prices for no reason. Had a full crew of workers too.

Great place to get ice cream. Not your normal DQ, basically a DQ with all the ice cream and hot dogs. Daily specials. Tried the Chocolate Malt Crunch Blizzard this year, it was awesome. Try it if you like Chocolate malts.

Standing in line with the sweetest lady who shared the history of this DQ in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It has been there since 1958, limited menu but SO worth the stop!

I got an Oreo Brownie Cupfection and it was the absolute best thing! My Fiancé got a Brookie Blizzard and he enjoyed it down to the very last bit of it. So both of us enjoyed our treats until there was nothing left!

Don't worry if the line is long. The guys and gals here are speedy. You'll be enjoying your cone or blizzard in no time. Old time DQ where you order at the window. It is just the best place to get ice cream treats.

Best ice cream place around period. Chili cheese dogs for 2.50 and there good great milkshakes . As long as you don't mind standing in line
