A must visit to get my German food fix when I’m in Atlanta! Great hangout spot!

Constance did a great job and recommended some amazing food.

Second time here and it's such a great place to hang out at in Hotlanta! My wife and I love the Dunkel beers finally tried the jager schnitzel and ruben rolls. Really good. TL is a great bartender

Hofbrau Original is my all time favorite beer and as far as I know, this is the only place in Atlanta that has it. It’s currently a special so I really hope they add it to the menu permanently. The food here is also excellent!

Great spot for food and a cold beer. They were out of a lot of the options when we were there unfortunately. But still a great spot downtown.

Came here for dinner in Saturday night had the sour braten food was outstanding,the beer selection was awesome and the staff and customer service was even better I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant and when I am back in Atlanta I will most certainly be back again

I’m editing my review after coming here for over 10 years. Originally this was a great attempt at the look and feel of a traditional german restaurant. Not it feels like a bar that has German vibes and German words mixed in. There are some German specialities on the menu which hasn’t changed much over the years but the quality has gone down hill. The beer selection on tap is the same beer you can get at a grocery store. The music is so loud that I can’t hear my friends talking and I have to repeat myself even when it’s Empty. So like I still enjoyed the schnitzel but it’s not as good and slowly becoming less of a German experience and more of just another Americanized experience. My pretzel was stale. Not that you shouldn’t come here. My waitress was nice and I still liked my food. It’s just called a lot from what it once was. If it’s your first time you will have fun. If you are German or have visited Germany recently keep your expectations low.

Awesome vibe and great bar tenders.

The place was nice and we got seated in a round table-excellent! The staff was friendly. Overall a good experience. The salad was beautiful and delicious!!! Room for improvement could offer at least one option for meatless protein.

We stumbled upon this place and are so glad we did! The place was so festive and welcoming. The beer was delicious and the whole party loved every item we got on the menu. To top that off, the service was fantastic!

Absolutely amazing food and service. Spending several years working in Germany I've come to not expect much from "German" restaurants in the US. This is the exception. Food was excellently prepared, beer selection is good, service was great. There was nothing I could find to critique. Prices were very fair for portion sizes. Ambience and decorations were authentic without being over the top. Would highly recommend for an authentic representation. Also they have Tannenzäpfle, which is near impossible to find outside the schwarz forest. Highly recommended as one of Germany's finest pilsners.

My daughter and I shared the lightly breaded pork and it was absolutely delicious. We had a piece of chocolate cake for dessert and it was finger licking good. The service was great and we loved the decor. If we are ever back in Georgia, we will be back.

Der Biergarten is one of my all time favorites. I had my Batchelor party here. I've had so many litres here. Whenever I'm in Atlanta I have to stop at Der Biergarten. TL has been bartending for me for over a decade. This place is top tier, give them a go!

The food is delicious and Nyasha is a wonderful hostess with a great vibe. Come say hi and get some bomb food!

Went to watch Euro soccer game. Several groups sat at our table and we were told by slow and rude server it had to be all on one ticket.......why? I should have pushed back but went along with it. When the check arrived it seemed high, but each group was polite and worked out what we thought each should pay.....big mistake! When I got home I looked at the breakdown of items and found drinks and food items that the table did not order or receive....too late. I experienced the one ticket per table scam once before with the same results....we all paid too much. I'll never return and if you do insist on seperate tickets and go over it carefully before paying!

We went here to see the match between England and Switzerland in the European Championships. The atmosphere here was great. The food was good and the service was excellent. The german beers tasted good. A lovely drink after the meal closed the lunch. I will recommend this bierstube

Had a pretty good experience here prior to the USA vs Panama COPA game in June 2024. Being from Chicago and Wisconsin, I like to think I have a decent idea of quality German food. This did well for ATL, while not quite matching the offerings at home. We ordered 2x Hefeweizens and 1x Lagers. All were good, though the Hefe's seemed a bit warm, which was disappointing. We ordered 1x large pretzel, 1x Wurst platter, 1x gulasch supple. The highlight for me was the gulash and the rye bread it was served with, being a darker than normal take on the hearty soup. Large chunks of meat a great flavor cooled by the sour cream dallop. The pretzel with cheese was also good! I was let down by the sausage plate though. We were severed all bratwurst vs the brat + knackwurst, and the brats seemed overcooked and had a grainy texture. Overall, we had a good experience here. Food and drinks were pretty good, with the highlight being the atmosphere. Really nice beer hall vibe with bench outdoor seating and lots of tVs for football matches.

I’ll give Biergarten 1 star because their service has been in a decline over the years. Every time I go back it’s worse than last time. Was there for Germany vs Switzerland game for Euros. The place was packed. So I get the stress. But the some of staff was very rude. There was a lot of confusion with the check. They didn’t want to itemize it per person, instead wanted to do one check per table and told us that we should all just split it evenly. We even broke it down. For her on paper. When pressed that we need it itemized she was super rude. This was not just one table and not just one server. It’s a shame cuz it’s a fun place to watch soccer games.

This is a place where you must sit family style. As in, there are large picnic style tables and you likely will have strangers sitting with you. I have no problem with that but important to know. I was seated next to a woman who I did not know, who was constantly vaping and blowing it in my direction/directly at me (which was away from her friends). Now, I don't think she was intentionally blowing it at me, I was just a convenient direction (away from her friends and where most people walked) and she didn't care. I complained 3 times, because i I an sensitive to that type of thing and I started getting a migraine. They said they talked to her one of the times i got up to use the restroom. Finally, I said I was going to leave, and the waitress told me they were going to do one check for the table. Are you kidding me? I'm pretty sure this woman, who I did not know, had figured out that I complained about the fact she was vaping and blowing it in my face for over an hour. So I just gave the waitress cash. The waitress didn't think i gave a big enough tip, although it was still a reasonable tip - but she wouldn't give me an actual tab. So i gave her a little more cash and she was like... yeah that's good. I felt extorted. They need to be more serious about enforcing vaping. Same as smoking or doing illegal drugs in my opinion as i have no idea what's in there.

I love the food that I got here. It was real good here. I got the Jagerschnitzel and red cabbage.

The food was delicious. The beer was probably the best I’ve ever drank. And the service was great. But the atmosphere was dusty and aged.

After a long day at the aquarium, we wanted a place to just sit and drink. We got lost trying to find a different place, and decided to check it out. Mostly due to it having a big open balcony and just looking cool. Side note; I don’t drink beer. Luckily they had the Bavarian Punch; just go for the litre on that one 😘. Our server Sandrina was super helpful and attentive and we never wanted for a drink during the couple hours we spent here. She deserves a shoutout here and we hope this is seen! Between drinks, we had the delicious kartoffelpuffer with cinnamon-heavy applesauce, and an absolutely 10/10 kasespatzel that was somehow gooey and crispy that I will think about forever now. If you need a spot to chat, drink, and snack with your crew, the Biergarten is a great pick. Wish we had one closer to home!

Took an hour for food to come out. Tried to order several dishes but 50 percent of the items were not available from the menu. Atmosphere is run down. Food mediocre. Hard bench seats not comfortable after waiting so long for food. Poor service. Would not recommend.

Ordered pickup over the phone. Even though they confirmed my order verbally, when my husband arrived to pick up the food, they said they had no record!! So he waited while they whipped up my order of the brats and knocks and two sides, as well as an Apple strudel. My husband enjoyed some beers while waiting 30 minutes for the food to be cooked. Well when we finally got the order, everything was incorrect! The sides were wrong, the number of brats was wrong, and they didn’t give me ice cream with the strudel. Yes the meats tasted good, but I was so craving for my dessert and was left so sad.

We sat at the bar waiting on rest of our party for our reservations. The bartender was absolutely amazing. We joined rest of our party and ordered our food. I took maybe three bites and found a long blonde hair in my mash potatoes. The waitress took the plate away. We all needed separate checks. The manager was very rude and made a big deal as to how she couldn’t do separate checks. They left my meal on the tab after they had a hair in it and took it away. We will make sure for the next event not to return. The manager was so rude the waitress apologized for her attitude. We spent over $400.00 with this establishment.

Nice variety - we ordered several appetizers and everything was delicious. The grandkids loved the giant pretzels. Great service.

I had an excellent experience at Der Biergarten in Atlanta. The food was amazing, and the service was equally impressive. The pork knuckle had a crispy skin, which was a nice change from what I normally get in Germany, and they were super delicious. The chicken was flavorful, and the goulash was meaty and delicious. My bone-in pork chops were great, soft and not dry. The kids’ sausages were a hit; they ate everything. Highly recommend this place!

I will give them credit for still being open when they run out of food. So it was hard to watch people eating and you couldn't order.

I checked out Der Biergarten and decided to try the pork shank. Let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice! It's always a pleasure to come eat here! The food never disappoints, drinks are always outstanding, and service is a delight. If you've never been I insist you try the Reibekuchen Mit Apfelmus - you'll be surprised how well it pairs together when dunked. My favourite entree is always the JÄGERSCHNITZEL. So delicious, the only suggestion is you may want some extra gravy on the side. My favourite drink that's light be flavorful was the Bavarian Punch. It was too delightful that I had to order two. Hands down my favourite restaurant in Downtown Atlanta.

Well, food was quite okay - not really excellent, but average home cooked style. Maybe not really worth the cost. However, I had two people serving me and the other one was rude.

This is the best German restaurant I have ever tried! This has also just became our favorite restaurant in town! My husband and I came to Der Biergarten for this first time last weekend, we were impressed with everything and had to come back again today! The food is just phenomenal here - we love the sausages, the schnitzel, and everything else! Big shoutout goes to the pork knuckle! O-M-G, it is just soooo good! Also, their staff members are super great, the bartender, TL is amazing - attentive, friendly, warm & caring! This should be on the top of the list of the restaurant you need to try in Atlanta!

Atmosphere is amazing but I ordered beef schinitzel and I told them that I can’t eat pork. They gave me a pork schnitzel. I was expecting apologies but they said we cut and checked in the kitchen and that was beef. I had 3 friends with me and they all tasted it before I called the server. They all said this is Pork. They literally lied about it. I am a server, too. If you do a mistake please accept that. I might have an allergy. My reason was about religion. I love the design of the bar but food and service was disappointed.

Amazing presentation of the food. Their bbq platter is so big and amazing. 4 men could only finish half, so I think 8 people can share the platter. Also their pretzel was so big and so good. And ofcourse great selection of beers.

Enjoyable place in walking distance from the hotel district. Many German beers that were very good. The Wurst platter, sauerkraut and spatzle were great and pretty close to authentic. Friends Schnitzel was very good he said. I'll go back when I am in Atlanta.

I walked by this place and saw “Atlantas Soccer Headquarters,” so I stopped in to have a beer and watch a WSL game. When I got to the place, they didn’t have the soccer game on. Thankfully the hostess was nice enough to turn it on for me. I sat down and was greeted by a friendly bartender. They have a ton of great beer choices. I didn’t have any food so I cannot comment on that. The overall aesthetic of the place is awesome however as a soccer bar I would have expected more TVs, and to have soccer on with out needing to ask for it. They also have a large outdoor area, however no TVs. So I would come for the beer (and maybe food), but definitely not to just watch soccer.

The food, drink and service were all excellent.

This place was great! I loved the food, and the service was great as well. I had the half chicken with fries and it was perfect. The seasoning on the chicken was nice and kinda spicy. The fries were delicious and seasoned nicely. My husband has the seared trout and he was pleased too. He had a potato pancake and it was really good!

Literally always delicious with great service

This is a great spot while in Atlanta! We were pleased to find it while walking around hungry after our flight. The atmosphere is very inviting. An option to sit inside. Or I highly recommend sitting outside where you have a covered or non covered option. The staff is ready to help explain the menu and provide recommendations. We went twice while in Atlanta and will be back.

Our server was amazing. Even though the place was packed, she was attentive and didn't leave us uninformed about time for food or with empty glasses. Super friendly and always smiling. The food was really good too, but she made the visit fun. The only issue I had was it's really loud. No way to hold a conversation.

I’ve been going to Der Biergarten for a decade, and it’s always a great spot to be. Great German food & beer (and I’ve been to Germany for comparison). I love the atmosphere and the staff - especially TL at the bar. If you’re looking for authentic German food and beer in Atlanta, this is the place to go!

Great service. Nice outdoor area. Beer is not cold, but chilled enough I guess. Salmon potato pancake/patty was tasty. Good place to go to get your German fix once in awhile. Spaetzle noodles are dry.

Lol this place is ridiculous. Not a single German person working there. Where's the Kellbir? The lederhosen? They're cranking Prince and classic Rock, not polka and German music. Food is great though. Shweinshaxe was amazing. Atmosphere needs lots of work.

This place is super cool! It's got a beer hall set up similar to a German hofbrauhaus. The service was good, though they don't ask what drink size you want when you order a beer... So be prepared to get a liter regardless of what you want. The food was good, but not very authentic. There is a strong vinegar taste in some of the food (especially the potato salad). I do like the wiener schnitzel, jäger schnitzel, and the spätzle. The Reuben egg rolls and the apple strudel are also good. The beer is the best part and I'm partial to any type of hefeweiss. They do take reservations and on the weekends you'll need one. Indoor and outdoor seating available. No on site parking, but there are public parking lots/decks within walking distance. This place is not wheelchair accessible as you climb a floor's worth of stairs to get to the front door.

Had dinner there on 15 December with family and friends. This was not my first time here so I knew what to expect with regards to the food. It was excellent as always. What really blew me away on this visit was the service. Not that it’s ever been bad, but our server on this occasion, Laurel, Was simply stellar

Such friendly service! Love the beer hall set up and the German food and great beer! We tried the charcuterie, the pretzel and the sausage appetizer. All were great! They have some nice mustards too. We also tried the Reuben rolls and apple struddel.

Always a great experience. They make their own mustards, worth going just for that. Their sausage and potato pancakes are fantastic for sharing. I usually get the Jagerschnitzel which is exceptional and very filling.

Food was great. As was the beer. It's too bad the customer service from the bar and host stand was awful. My server was friendly and provided great service. As soon as I walked in, the girl at the host stand seemed annoyed I was there. I said "just 1" and she told me the bar was open seating. Didn't give me any other options. I went to the bar and sat there for 5-10 minutes. While there, everyone else was getting helped on the right side of the bar while those of us on the left side were left alone. I wasn't even approached by an employee and the bar top was filthy. There was another bartender but he would only help a party that was being held. I went back to the host stand and asked to be seated at a table so I could get help. She said "the bartender is helping other people. Why don't you just get some patience." I replied that I've been there for almost 10 minutes without an acknowledgment and I'm hungry and just want to eat. She then rolled her eyes and sat me at a table. Service after that was very prompt. This place needs to get their customer service in the very front of house in check. Other people commented on her attitude as well.

Love it, amazing place and food, but don't ask for margaritas

I visited the Biergarden with my wife and we ordered Reibeplätzchen as appetizer and they were fantastic. Warm cinnamon applesauce was new to us, since we always used regular apple sauce, but it was great. My wife had the Sauerbraten and it was really good. I ordered Roulladen, only to find out that they were out of them. So I went on with a Jägerschnitzel with Fries. It was really good, more than I could eat. The staff was super nice and if I ever end up in Atlanta again I will visit the Biergarden again. Same goes for my wife. Oh, almost forgot: The music was great. From Prince over to german schlager and back to Queen....something for everybody. Also that little model train which runs under the ceiling was fun to watch.

Terlawrence was a great waiter. We were a party of 12. Drinks brought out quickly and he took all the orders without writing them down. They were all correct. The food was delicious and we had ordered a variety of dishes.

After spending the day at museums and the aquarium plus eating dessert, we realized that the this restaurant was very close. We called at 8:30pm to see if they restaurant's culture was to close right at 9 or just stop serving at that money. The person said to come right over when he realized we just across the street. When we walked in they said are you the ones who just called and the sat us down quickly. We got there and ordered quickly since this is not our first biergarten. The server was so kind when he learned I had a dairy allergy. He helped me figure out what I could do based on their menu. The prices were awesome. The most expensive thing was not the food, but the liter of beer. We ate quickly and left. They were super sweet even saying that it was not a bother when I told them if they needed us to pay for it before finishing the food so they could close out. I am so glad they allowed us to have a great German meal after a long day of fun. We will certainly remember to come back in the future.

Worse restaurant we ate at so far in Atlanta. Whatever the food quality is, you will taste so bad after you experienced racist. Food is not good either.

Great venue, atmosphere. But a little petty that the bartender wouldn’t play a game that we wanted to watch when no one else was at the bar just because he wanted to watch his own games.

Server changed my tips by adding 8%. Didnt argue with them cuz my company reimburses, but this is absolutely not tolerable. Food and beer was good. Would recommend if you don’t mind your server changing your tips

The food is pretty good here. Of course it's not authentic, but it's pretty close to the real thing. Some days the food is better than others depending on crowds and the cook like any other restaurant, but the atmosphere is cute and fun and it's in a part of town where it's mostly a ton of chain restaurants which aren't anything special. This place is special. Whenever I go to the aquarium or my mom visits, I make sure to stop in here. Pricy but portions are huge. I recommend splitting a meal. But the thing that makes this restaurant amazing is actually the server TL. Not only does he remember me even though I only go in once or twice a year, but he makes sure that everything is ordered correctly (even with my substitutions), he is hilarious, personable hard-working, and makes my visits here with my mom memorable! I am not kidding, he literally remembered my mom and me one full year apart from our visits. If you're in the area I highly recommend it. And where else would you want to celebrate Oktoberfest in Atlanta.
