I’m a regular, the food is great and reasonably priced. Excited to see their new space on Davis.

I've been getting sushi and curry takeaway from here for a couple of years. I'm always satisfied! I like that I get a free appetizer with my takeaway if I spend enough money. The workers are also always friendly, which I appreciate. My only suggestion - some sushi doesn't have a description when you order online, so I'm a little hesitant to order them.

The sushi honestly blew my mind.

Very disappointing. Overly salted tonkotsu ramen, literally one spoonful of the chasu pork in the whole bowl, my son's tempura was bland with no flavor. The ramen bowl had a chip on the rim, YOU CANNOT SERVE FOOD IN BROKEN AND OR CHIPPED GLASS...THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS..NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN...

This is a small locally owned Japanese restaurant. The food is always great and well-prepared. I have tried many things on the menu and it is always delicious. The bubble tea is also especially good. The employees are always very courteous and care about maintaining a positive atmosphere. The sushi and sashimi dishes are also very reasonably priced and high quality. Highly recommend this place!

A wonderful find in Evanston for pan-Asian food. I had the very affordable priced Bento box for lunch, which came with Miso soup, an appetizer of my choice (Tempura veggies) and my entree choice of Pad Thai. It was fresh and delicious. Our spacious table against the front window was a very pleasant and comfortable perch. A great place that I'll be trying more of.

This was my first time ordering from Dozika. Delivery order arrived quickly. At least 40% of the tempura was literally burnt black in places. The individual pieces were so heavily drenched in batter it was impossible to recognize what the pieces were. I didn't eat the majority of that. The batter was soaked in oil and dripping oil in the box. The chive dumpling appetizer had no much oil on it and in it that it was inedible. The soft shell crab appetizer had so much batter on it that the crab itself was impossible to identify. Egg rolls were also drenched in oil. The sushi was impossible to eat with chopsticks because nearly all the pieces fell apart upon being picked up. Even the basic maki rolls fell apart. The 'tempura crunch' sushi arrived with at least three quarters cup of loose 'tempura crush' strewn over the top of the roll. The ramen was passable but only that. This first-time order was so atrocious that I won’t be ordering take out or visiting the restaurant ever again. Prep and cooks really need training. This whole order appeared to be prepared by someone who is completely new to this kind of food (didn't know the difference between handling fried chicken batter and tempura, for example) or who was severely impaired while on the cook line. Just shockingly bad. I attempted to contact the restaurant via email to tell them all of this but one can only deal with them via a phone call so there's no assurance that management would hear anything. That figures.

The sushi is incredible and the sashimi is smoother than butter! So great every time! Not to mention the best miso soup with so much tofu, seaweed and green onion! Lunch specials are the best! Can’t recommend this place more.

I have ordered takeout from Dozika for over a year now ~quite~ frequently and highly recommend using their online platform for delivery. Our order is always the “favorite combo” and we order a side with it. When you use their online platform with *this* combination you also receive a free item which we use to get another appetizer; for two we EACH get two reg. maki, and we each get to pick a side (one free from the limited free item opt on the online platform) for delivery under $40. The food quality, and customer/delivery service serve us SO well for this price. Look forward to ordering from Dozika time and time again!

We came on a Monday night for dinner. The restaurant was half full and we were seated right away. They seem to have a large amount of take out orders, which is great for them. We ordered, and food came out in about 12-15 min. The veggie sushi was fine but not amazing. My partners noodle dish was tasty. The bill was very reasonable.

LOVE this place. Affordable sushi but still high quality. Look at how thick the sashimi cuts are. Wow! Been here for a date and then for lunch. 5 out of 5 both times! Love the vibe of the place too. The best miso soup I’ve ever had. I’ve also tried sea ranch across the street but this place is well worth the extra cost. $14 for a bento box during lunch. Can’t beat that price.

I am very much pleasantly surprised by this place. We live 10 minutes down the street and were in the mood for something new yet close by as it was pouring rain outside. I read a few reviews, and by the judgment of the pictures, we decided to try it. There were quite a few options, but we chose to stick to apps and sushi. We had wings and calamari, both of which were very good, the wings super crispy with a nice kick. The calamari was delicious, I really liked the breading they used for it and at a reasonable price. Highly recommend both. Then we moved on to the tom kha, I am very picky with Tom kha as I can make it at home to my liking, and almost everywhere I go, it is beyond sweet and inedible. Let me tell you, compete opposite! I love how light the both is and not overly creamy from the coconut milk, just the right amount. You can still taste notes a sour/acidity from the scrumptious spices in the soup 10/10. This needs to come in a bucket. Lastly, we had a Philly roll, Red Hana roll, eel Maki, and shrimp tempura Maki, all of which were very very good. 🍣 I really want to come back here to try a few dishes I was eyeballing but just couldn't eat anymore food. P.S. the hot sake is about 8 shots and is totally worth the price. Until next time.

Came here for the first time with friends for the lunch special. The host was very polite, friendly and accommodating. Tried the shrimp bento box. Omgg the miso soup was delicious, the tempura (especially the shrimp) was so good and crispy, and the sushi was delicious! Will definitely come here again when I'm in Evanston! The prices for the food items and portion sizes are reasonable!

I could eat Dozika every day of the week and never tire of it. The menu here has a plethora of fabulous choices for every craving, from pad Thai and sushi to bento boxes and fried rice. I recommend stopping by at midday when the lunch special menu provides a remarkable value proposition. An entire meal (drinks and gratuity not included) cost only about $13. With today's skyrocketing inflation, I can't help but wonder how long that deal will last. First of all, the miso soup is perfect for warming one's bones on a cold, wintery day. Second, the weather is never too frigid to enjoy a tall, frosty bubble tea latte. I got the taro flavor, which was inoffensively sweet, mild, and refreshing. The mango fruit squeeze also comes highly recommended. My bento box came with addictively crunchy crab rangoon, salad with shredded carrots and a superb ginger dressing, and steamed veggies flanked with peanut sauce and white rice. This sauce is hard to categorize--somewhere in between sweet and savory, but absolutely delicious. Carrots, bean pods, onions, and mushrooms perfectly complement their adornments of starchy rice and protein-packed seasoning, making for a satisfyingly wholesome bite. In short, the food here is energizing, fresh, and fairly healthy. I would be remiss not to comment on the teriyaki salmon, which was doubtlessly the best I've ever had. The fish was not dry, but crispy, flaky, salty, and full of scrumptious flavor. This is Asian fusion cooking at its highest level. The sushi at Dozika is every bit as wonderful as you would expect. I tried the California roll, which comes included in every Dozika Box for little more than $12. It's fascinating to watch the chef prepare each roll at the sushi bar, crafting every dish with scrupulous expertise. Even during the lunch rush, I found service to be surprisingly quick. For Evanston residents, the rare combination of quality and value make Dozika a no-brainer choice. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Asian food, and hope to dine here again soon.

Every single dish I've tried here is amazing. Their sushi is sublime and their rice/noodle dishes are very tasty. One of my favorite dishes to order on a weekly basis is their bun buns filled with pulled pork. I order more to eat for lunch the next day at work. My only wish is they had more options for the buns but this is no complaint whatsoever. Love coming here every single time

I found this restaurant as cozy and food delicious. Appetizers are tasty but portion sizes are small for groups. Must try spicy Chicken wings.

Really disappointed since we love the food here. My husband and I tried eating in this time. We were one of two tables that day so not busy. The server was rude to us but more attentive to the other table. I am all about supporting local businesses but this experience makes me not want to return.

The staff is always very friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. The sushi is fairly priced and pretty good! However I will agree with other reviews and say the ramen is a bit disappointing.

Every roll we got was delicious!!

I've been eating here for years and tonight, when we got our food delivered, it was so fresh that it was like it teleported from their kitchen. I then asked myself why I've never reviewed this place. Before Covid, we dined in a fair amount and servers are always super nice. Now that we order out a lot, I order online and their free appetizer with orders over... it's $20 or $25, can't remember, is awesome. Highly recommend. Love their food. I've never had a complaint and my kiddo loves it too! Oh yeah, super kid friendly when you dine in. My kiddo asks about once a week to get Dozika. Sounds good to me!

My wife and I enjoyed a low-price and delicious dinner at Dozika. She had bibmbap, while I had teriyaki chicken with tempura vegetables. The servings were generous. The server was fast and friendly.

Very friendly service and very yummy sushi

Dozika is a cozy, little restaurant that fits in well with its surroundings. Entering the front door is somewhat of a tight squeeze due the two front doors opening in opposite directions and a two foot space between them, in which you have to stand before entering or exiting. Once inside this establishment the host makes you feel welcome. I've only ordered california rolls for pick up and must say that as far as California rolls are concerned, these are the best yet. They are always freshly made and you are able to taste the individual flavors without one overwhelming the other. The ginger is freshly cut and adds to the flavor. Picking up my order was never a hassel or wait time. My order was always ready when I arrived to pick it up. I have not tried other items on the menu as yet but if the California rolls are any indication, I must say that we are off to a great start. Quite possibly one of the best places for California rolls in the Chicagoland area.

My daughter and I were in town visiting Northwestern University, and we stopped in here on a whim. Turns out to have been one of the best meals of our whole trip. Highly recommended!

I loved the food. Some other reviewers complained about the service…it’s different culture, the server is not in your face the entire visit which I personally love! The food came out quickly everything was fresh and May is a sweetheart. Get the Salmon Bento box it’s so filling and provides many options for a decent price. Oh the Thai ice coffee is so goooooddd (if you don’t like sweet coffee, like my husband, please do not get this)

My favorite restaurant in the city

We buy sushi from Dozika almost every week, and the restaurant consistently provides quality food with a high level of customer service.

Have been there mulitple time over last 3 or 4 years, and every time enjoyed it. Been there with large groups on reservation, and service has been excellent, and somehow everyone gets served at same time. Beautiful presentation of Japanese food.

We came to Chicago for a Cubs game and I was so glad to find an Asian place that had both sushi and other dishes. I had a sushi tuna plate that was excellent, my mom had stir fry chicken and vegetables and also good!

After our Northwestern alumnae classes, we twice went with friends to this small but friendly Asian restaurant. I had pad thai with shrimp and my wife had soft shell crab curry, both of which were very good. There were several lunch specials and one of our group had the shrimp tempura lunch box, also quite tasty.

It's a lovely bright open place and has a great variety of Pan-Asian dishes. Came for lunch and loved their bento boxes with salad, apptz choice, entree of choice. There's also good variety of sushi. Will definitely come back and try more. Reasonable prices too.

Great sushi and for those who prefer their meals cooked, great entrees. I'd recommend the Curry Chicken (I may have that name wrong) but you will find it or the server will assist. Service is outstanding. Wide variety of sushi and they will customize to your liking. Thursday through Sunday 3:30-5:30 is Sushi Happy Hour-sushi from a happy hour menu is all half-priced. An amazing deal especially since the choices are plentiful and a great representation of their sushi menu.

Dozika is one of those rare restaurants that is consistently good and affordable. Pan-Asian menu has Thai and Japanese choices. Service is good. Conversation friendly and good place to take older children.

The Sweet potato rolls were delicious. there were Vegan options which was great for our group. We ordered several dishes and they were all good.

I go here once a month. VERY good sushi and friendly service. It ends a little early at 5:30 so I just work my schedule around it. Nice Maki rolls and good individual pieces. 2 can eat well for $25.00. Would recommend to everyone...fish has always been FRESH!

Sushi is good, but I'd say a bit pricy for what you get. The selection is standard. They do have a Korean beer that's not too common. But other then that, it's a pretty standard place.

As residents of Evanston, IL we have dined here more than 50 times in the last fifteen years! It is reasonably priced,fresh and great Thai and Japanese cuisine, including very good Sushi. The staff is friendly and the fish is fresh. I highly recommend it...

Dozika has an extensive, delicious pan-Asian menu, with many lunch specials that keep prices lower during the day. There are many vegan options as well. The waitstaff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.. We have never felt hurried while we eat.
