If they're going to be closed for a holiday weekend and into the week, then they need to set their voicemail up with that information. I tried calling several times, and it rang until a voicemail picked up, then disconnected you, or the line was busy. I drove 15 mins there since I thought they were busy to place my order, and when pulling in, they had a poster board in the window saying they were closed for the holiday. 2 other vehicles pulled in while I called my husband to see what he wanted to eat instead. However I have eaten there before and the food is either really good or really bad. Prices are good compared to other restaurants but the inside is very small if you want to eat in and the decor isn't the most up to date.

Great food and Great prices. Small and family owned. Really cool inside. I would suggest getting the pulled pork sandwich with fries and lemon cake for dessert.

Food is amazing! Staff is super friendly. Cozy laid back atmosphere. Recommend the hot chicken pasta and BBQ chicken salad. Hidden Gem!!!

I've been here several times and love the hot pasta salad, think steak hoagie with peppers, onions, tomato and lots of cheese. Instead of bread you have penne pasta and instead of mayo you have ranch dressing. This place isn't fancy and has plain homey foods. I would not recommend getting a burger or BBQ or one of their plain sandwiches. I would recommend soup, salad, and their specialty meals like the kielbasa and cabbage. I do feel the tables are packed a little too tightly and I feel like I'm always sticking out. Seems like staff share duties don't really have their own table and most likely split tips. Overhead the waitress tell the people next to us they no longer serve steak.

Was closed even though the internet and their sign said they should be open.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we weren't impressed with the food. My husband had Ham, mashed potatoes with gravy. I had meat lasagna with garlic bread, and we both had a side salad. The salad was pretty basic and small. My husband said his mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant, and the gravy was out of a jar. My lasagna was OK but had way too much cheese, and although the garlic bread was soft and fresh baked, it had a strange metal taste like it was baked on an old pan. Needless to say, we won't be returning since we paid $27.71 and drank water. This is cute inside and very clean, so it's a shame the food wasn't any better.

The food here is amazing. The staff is quick and courteous. The restaurant is beyond clean. Their literally is nothing to criticize. Just a great experience consistently.

The restaurant has a home cooked feeling. Great atmosphere, the food was delicious and the prices were incredible. Our waitress, Rhonda, was very friendly. We enjoyed the main courses and the desserts were fabulous.

I went there for the first time about a month ago, the atmosphere is so cozy, everything is so decorated, everything is clean, I had spaghetti and it was scrumptious!😻 I imagine this place looks amazing in the winter because the snow would coat the trees and it would look like on winter wonderland! I love how the restaurant has spots where the floor rises up, and there are different levels of tables, I have family members who love coming here! The staff is friendly! I especially love their lemon packets!!!! I really want to come here again! They are such yummy food!

First time visit. Pleasant and delightful. Cabbage bowl was better than my mom’s. Service was sweet and the atmosphere is peaceful. Shared the chocolate cake desert. I left feeling wonderful. This is absolutely what a local family restaurant should be. Thank you.

Cute place always packed because the staff goes above and beyond to cook homemade quality tasty food. Wide selection menu! Food is served hot! Waitresses are super nice! Prices are very resonable! Highly recommend the Dutchman’s Daughter!

We’d heard of this restaurant from the older generation; aunts, uncles, parents, so we decided to come on down to Fairmont and check it out. Delightfully quirky atmosphere and extremely friendly server. My husband really enjoyed the cabbage and kielbasa, and my chicken tendies and onions rings were yummy. Portions were generous, and each meal started with a salad. We finished it off with the hot fudge cake which did not disappoint. $30 for the entire meal! What a bargain!

Employees are rude. The sign said close at 9pm. We arrived at 835 pm and intended on ordering to go. As soon as we pulled in the employees got huffy. We entered and before we could be seated or even try to order a lady rudely announced to us they was closed. We tried to report it to manager and basically was told that they did NOT CARE about their customers.

Friendly staff, good food for the price

I enjoyed the meal. Not spectacular, but it was as good as it should be (I had the kielbasa, red potatoes and cabbage) and the chicken salad was pretty good too. Just a little disappointing that it was almost a paste consistency. The Fudge Cake was better than advertised. I would order it a dozen times over the Shoney’s fudge cake. If I come back to the area I’ll have to try a different dish. And maybe dine in, but as it is seat yourself, I didn’t want to take up a table by myself. If there’s no parking out front, it’s a good bet that the house is full and there are seats available for the wheelchair bound.

Stopped in for lunch for the first time and what a great place! Home cooking, comfort food all the way. I had the fried chicken and dumplings, delicious! Hubby had the steak sandwich, he loved it. Can’t wait to go back and try the Soup beans & Ham over cornbread- yummy!

This place was a gem for sure. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and so sweet. She brought me the hot fudge icing for my dessert on the side in case I wanted to pour it on my cake and I’m glad she did that because it was delicious. She went the extra mile for us. We loved the atmosphere as well. If we are ever in this area again we will definitely be coming back!

I've been dining here for most of my life and I have to say that Dutchman's Daughter is such a great little hidden gem. They serve delicious, made-in-house food in a comfy, cozy atmosphere. I especially love their lasagna and their blackberry cobbler. They also serve the best Reuben I've ever had. We love coming here for a casual date night or for a meal with our family. If you're in the area, definitely stop by for a meal!

What a cozy restaurant that's near to where I'm currently working. When you come to a restaurant for the first time and the parking lot is packed you know you've probably chosen a good place, and boy did we!! Have eaten here several times in the past month or so and have enjoyed each and every meal, I've even ordered something while there to take for dinner during work.

Tasty homemade food and a good variety

This was our first time eating here and it won’t be our last. We’ve talked about eating here but really never found the time, until today. It wasn’t long after we sat down before our waitress, Brooke, was at our table. She was very courteous. We ordered the daily special, salmon cakes, and the Buffalo Chicken hoagie with home fries. Both were very good and very filling. If you find yourself in the White Hall/Fairmont area, stop in and get something great to eat at very affordable prices. We will be back.

This place is amazing. I have had nothing but great food from here. I recently discovered it and I have recommended to everyone so far. Their prices are great and portion sizes are even better

Great little quaint place to get REAL home cooked food, just like Mama or Grandma cooked it. Service was good too. You won’t be disappointed. Glad we stopped here. (Beautifully decorated for the Autumn season as well!)

Food was lacking much flavor and wasn't as amazing as I hoped. The mashed potatoes were definitely instant. But the pie crust was amazing. Our server was SUPER sweet and even raked the meringue off the pie before she brought it out, because she heard me say I fought like it! 😊 I'll go back & try something different next time.

Traveling Tip: Always stop at the ones where the parking lot is full.

From the review and looking at the menu on line this looked like a really great place. When we got there half the stuff on the menu was not available. Grilled chicken strips were dry. Meat loaf was dry. Food was mediocre at best. When asked if the country fried steak was hand battened they said no they come in frozen :( Fries were good.

I eat here from time to time and am always pleased with the food, service and price. I ❤️ their Hot Chicken Pasta. It is to die for. 😋 My friend, this time, ordered the Chicken pasta and I decided to order their NY Strip Steak since it was available today. I always get their when they are out of steaks. Had a dinner here in May on a Saturday. The place was very crowded. For $11.99 - able to get pasta + salad + bread. They had specials. Parking was tight due to the restaurant being crowded. Good portion size and value.

my pregnant fiancé and i sat in there for a good 12 minutes with no service, or a menu. a couple walked in and sat down 5 minutes after us and was waited on instantly. definitely will never come back. you’d think they’d want a younger crowd in there but i guess not.

Dutchman's daughter is an iconic restaurant that has been in Fairmont WV for eons. We were a party of four and we were seated immediately. Two people in our party ordered the grilled chicken salad, one ordered chicken fried steak and I ordered beef liver and onions. The salads were huge and the homemade ranch dressing was delicious. The chicken fried steak came with a side salad and potato salad. The steak was nicely fried and crispy. My beef liver was tender and the grilled onions were a nice accompaniment. The coleslaw tasted homemade as well. Our waitress Linda was an absolute sweetheart. Planning to return to this restaurant today before we drive home!

Try Marys special recipe dip...it is devine!!! The chicken and dumpling soup is out of this world. The atmosphere is quaint and reminded me of going to eat at someone's country home instead of a restaurant. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Great food and friendly people

My husband were on our annual fall trip to WV to see the fall colors and the natural wonders. We checked into our motel and were told we shouldn't miss Valley Falls State Park. It was really close so we went and were awed by the falls and how close you could get to them. We went back to the motel for more advice as to where to get good home cooking. They recommended Dutchman's Daughter and again we got good advice. The wait staff was friendly and service was quick. The decor was lovely and the food was even better! The restaurant was packed with locals so you know the food has to be good. My husband got a huge ham steak with salad and mashed potatoes while I got egg salad on lettuce. Both were excellent choices and this restaurant is now on our itinerary!

I'd heard from others that the DD was a must to try out. I'm glad that I listened, because it was great. Very down home and cozy, the staff was beyond friendly and the food was home cooking style at its finest. I had a tuna melt and chili & brought a chicken parmesan home. Can't wait to come back.

Doesn’t deserve 1 star super rude workers nasty food took way to long I’m not a fan of this place at all super gross rude workers there is nothing good about this place woudnt recommend 2nd time coming here and I’m very un happy thought maybe I should try it again just so I’m sure and yea this place is a no go it was super gross workers need to be nicer that’s why I’m not coming back.

The wait staff were terrific. Nice to see young people working so hard. The place was clean except for the ceiling fan blades. Tables and such were clean. Service was speedy. The food was not bad however it was plain. My fiancee had the kielbasa and sauerkraut with cheese hoagie and he said it was good except the kraut wasn't very tangy. I had the Lauderback stack which was a club sandwich with toasted bread, egg, cheese, bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato. Without the bacon it wouldn't HV had any flavor. I chose coleslaw and Mac n cheese as my sides. The coleslaw was dry but tasted ok. The Mac n cheese was simply elbow Mac and processed cheese like Velveeta with no seasoning. I have heard so many good things about this place from the locals that we are willing to give it another try.

Everything I've had here is delicious. The meat pasta sauce is a favorite with lots of meat and a little spice. My kiddo loves the Mac n' cheese. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is fun and casual and the people are great!
