If I was posting this review a couple of years ago, it would have been 4 or 5 stars. At that time, I was a big fan of the Spicy Maki Combo, (3 rolls, a tuna, a yellowtail tuna, and a salmon). As one would expect, each roll had a different fish and it was excellent. Now, all 3 rolls have the same ground fish meal. Think chopped ham and pickle, if you're familiar with that. I'm sad to say, it's terrible.

Great place, reasonable price with A quality of food. They even do hand rolls, huge bento box too. Supper recommendation!!!!

Salads are always fresh. The presentation of all the plates are appetizing. Owners and employees as well give a welcoming home feeling. Absolutely love this place.

The lady serving us was a little weird but the food was amazing I’ll definitely be back!

The food was amazing, however the lady giving me the food had an attitude for what reason I am not quite sure. She put my food on the seat and walked away didn’t even hand it to me. They need to hire better people who treat everyone the same.

My husband ordered dinner (3 sushi rolls, general tsos chicken), at 6:30pm and the website said it would be ready in an hour. We just wanted a nice home dinner, as it was our first valentines days as a married couple. We went to pick the order up at 7:30pm, and my husband went inside only to find 6 others waiting for orders that weren’t ready, an empty hostess stand, and no staff. Our food was not ready. He finally made it back to the car at 8:12pm, with our food. If it is too busy or you aren’t staffed well enough, stop taking orders!!!

Ordered Seafood Delight and got Tofu and vegetables, no spring rolls ordered 4, and no Berlin Roll absolutely pissed after spending $110.00

East Tokyo is one of my favorite lunch spots. It exceeded my initial expectations with its inviting ambiance, attentive staff, and delectable sushi offerings. The creative menu showcased fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the Berlin Roll was a standout. Not to mention they have incredible deals for lunch While prices were a bit steep, the generous portions and overall dining experience made it worthwhile. I'll be returning for more!

Best Sushi I've ever had to date Very quiet atmosphere and friendly staff 10/10

I ordered Manhattan Jalapeño sushi. 3 hours later I was throwing up and had explosive diarrhea all night long. Will never go to East Tokyo again. Health department should investigate.

Hands down the best sweet and sour chicken I've ever had. Portion sizes are huge for Chinese food. Little pricier than normal places but 100% worth it

Food is always great...the service is very good. The staff were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere well its like a small town family sit down restaurant to eat great food.

East Tokyo has been my go to sushi restaurant for over 10 years. They always make delicious sushi, as well as other great food. The prices are right on par with all other sushi in the area. Their sweet potato roll is the best one I've found anywhere.

Sushi is amazing and fresh,. Not your typical "Chinese Food" taste. They have the same foods but the taste is better, done differently.. if your getting Sushi, get lunch special during the week. Huge $$ drop, ordering 1 sushi roll means 6 pieces,, lunch special you get soup and salad, an either 2 or 3 rolls, with means 12-18 pieces., My favorite is eel avacodo,!! If you don't want meat, try the cucumber rolls! This was written 3yrs ago! Still true today! The best around, I have ordered 4-5x a week when I was sick 3weeks ago. Goin to pick my food up now! All I'm craving is Sushi! East Tokyo is the best..

They have great sushi here. Only thing is they are cash only but there is an ATM inside. The food is awesome, give it a try!

Excellent place to go eat. I got there early and for awhile was the only one there. So contrary to the name of this establishment, this place does serve Chinese food. I had chicken with garlic sauce. Now I've had chicken with garlic sauce in other place and it is never hot and spicy, even though it is advertised as being hot and spicy. I have to tell'ya that it IS hot and spicy and I enjoyed every minute of it. Also, the amount of food was a lot for me and I thought I might take some home and then I realized, I'MA FAT A** and ate the whole entire entree.🤦🏻 Also, excellent shrimp roll. I don't know what sauce that is but it was delicious 😋.

People rave about East Tokyo, but I've only gone once and I found it to be adequate, but not great. Maybe my experience was an outlier, and I owe it to them to try again (although I prefer Tokyo Cafe even though it's further).

I go here about once per month and the food is usually really good. I got a chicken teriyaki bento box yesterday and the chicken was inedible. It wasn't undercooked, it just had a really hard, unpleasant texture. That of chicken that has been sitting out of the refrigerator for a long time. I had to throw it all away. I will not be back here again.

This place is great for either takeout, delivery or dine in. It’s very clean inside. The ambiance is charming. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food is delicious. I recommend the hibachi. It comes with a fresh salad & miso soup. The waiter was very sweet and accommodating. They offer sushi, pad thai & other Asian delicacy’s.

LOVE THIS PLACE...GREAT FRESH FOOD EVERY TIME. PLACE TO GO FOR SUSHI AND BENTO BOXES. THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE AS WELL.

This was my first time ordering sushi takeout from East Tokyo for dinner. Ordering online was easy and my order was ready on time. We ordered quite a few different sushi rolls and everything was amazing and so fresh especially the BERLIN ROLL 🤗...hands down our favorite!!!

I’m disappointed with the food it’s not as good as my usual go to Japanese spot it almost felt more like Chinese food for me. The salad is plain they need to add vegetables in it. I got chicken and shrimp and the sauce was just not good it felt like something was missing. I asked for no broccoli and I got broccoli. The rice was good which is why I’m giving 2 stars and not 1. Overall not the best value for your money. There is a much better Japanese place that I won’t name that is not too far from this place, I would not recommend this place.

I put 4 because I haven't tasted their food yet but the take out so far so good and very organized.

I forgot to take photos of my food. I am very particular about my food. The Hibachi rice was delicious!! I had the chicken teriyaki bento box. They had really good teriyaki sauce and the chicken was moist. I also got the walnut shrimp and the sauce was so delicious! I would recommend and definitely be going back.

I was visiting in Berlin last night and we ordered pickup. The food was exceptional. The consistency of the brown rice was such that I would have enjoyed it plain. My volcano roll was an eruption of flavor and texture that ranks with the best, like Sweet Mango in Southington. The hot and sour soup provided the diverse flavors that make it so palatable. We are from Farmington, and we have some serious Sushi stops in the Valley, but East Tokyo ranks with the best of them.

Take out sushi isn't something I do, however this was very good quality. The Manhattan jalapeno is delicious. That being said everything was very good, I was even a fan of the soup.

My daughter, grandaughters and I went to this restaurant the other night and we had beef and broccoli, pepper steak and onion, chicken lo mein, shrimp tempora ,sushi sesame chicken and orange flavor chicken . Our waiter Zy or Zack he has 2 names lol zy was hospitable, he was attentive ,and funny . The food to me was very fresh and flavourful. And I was impressed with how clea checked bathrooms were OMG it was really clean and it smelled nice . I wish I would have taken so.e pictures to post but we will definitely be going back so I will do it then .

My first time visit! Honestly I’m impressed. The popcorn chicken was great, chicken and broccoli, white and brown rice was amazing. I did have avocado roll and i think it was great! I had huge order for 6 people. Only complaint i do have is they forgot my spicy Mayo :(

Delicious! Inexpensive and hit the spot on a cold day! I recommend the chicken noodle soup. I thought the chicken/rice meant it came with both, but in hindsight, I was supposed to choose. Noodles was chosen for me I guess, as I attempted to order both, but still very delicious!

Should have more inside the rolls. Taste is good but rolls too skimpy

It's a nice little place to have quick sushi. Appetizers were decent. I would avoid the crab rangoon and ask for light salt on the edamame. Overall, this is a 3/5.

recently had dinner here with the family The Dragon and Phoenix dinner consisted of General Tso chicken and grilled shrimp...Absolutely delicious and bountiful plate....other apps and entrees were excellent.

Lovely people, good food served quickly, and the price is right. My daughter and I eat here weekly, and we've never had anything less than a wonderful meal here.

Excellent prices especially for lunch during the week. Great customer service and delicious food! Always come here with family or friends because they never dissappoint.

This place is GREAT for their sushi!!! Everytime I order From them, my food is quickly prepared and always tastes so fresh! Definitely would recommend if you’re looking for some good sushi, or Chinese food! Their shrimp tempura rolls are THE BEST!

This place has really good food you definitely need to give it a try. My favorite was the sushi and miso soup.

I used to really enjoy this place but everytime I go it gets a little bit grosser. The staff is super nice and cute but the food is subpar. My shrimp tempura roll was mushy and had an odd taste. The tuna roll smelled fishy (good fish does not smell like fish) and egg roll was cold. Hopefully the last 2x I went were just off days, but it has made me not want sushi for a long time.

Closest sushi to me. My go to. Not the best around but quick and good. Never very busy.

We've been here many times and the food is always good. We dine here most often on Friday evenings and it is never crowded. We most often have sushi, bento box and noodle dishes. It is located in a strip mall anchored by Stop & Shop grocery store, and there's plenty of parking. The restaurant serves beer and wine and it's comfortable to linger and chat. I've never had their takeout but there are always customers waiting for it. Its good, not great, and service levels vary though all servers are friendly. All in all, we have a good time and enjoy the food there. I love the Udon noodles. I recommend it for casual dining.

Sushi Sundays for $20 that also includes dishes off of the regular menu like general tsos chicken, gyoza, and Kani salad! Just ask for the all you can eat menu. I make sure to go atleast once a month. They seem to change sushi chefs a lot so the sushi isn't always what you expect. A change for the worse at times. That's why I gave it 4 stars.
