Went here for ribeyes and giant prawns. Toughest fattiest steaks ever and the prawns were so rubbery and overcooked. Hopefully it was an off night because it was truly horrible. Bartender couldn't even make a long island. Very disappointed.

We were absolutely blown away by Edgar Bar! The food and service were impeccable. It exceeded our expectations and was undeniably the best place we ate throughout all of our travels. It’s a very humble establishment with lots of homemade recipes. We particularly loved our ribeye, the finger steaks and the tater-tots. No drive is too far to get to Edgar Bar!

We heard Edger bar is under new management so we stopped in. Happy to report the food is amazing. Being a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich snob I had to retry theirs. It was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed the homemade tator tots. Fab!

We were visiting friends in Red lodge from Colorado for the 4th of July. They told us how good your food and hospitality is so we all went together Thursday night. We were soooo glad we did! The prime rib and jumbo prawns were to die for and the bull fries were the BEST I've ever had! It was so good we made the trek back 3 days later before our travels back home. The burger was delicious and of course I had to get the bull fries again! We're still talking about the experience we had and how amazing the food was. I sure wish we had a comparable restaurant/bar like the Edgar bar near us! Thank you for doing such a great job at what you all do!! We'll definitely be stopping back on our next trip to Red lodge! 😍😋

I use to live outside of Edgar while waiting for my disability to go through. I knew a guy who worked here serving drinks. Damon is his name. A great guy. Food is good and nice people. I now live in western North Carolina but I have hopes of returning to Montana. You can't go wrong by going to the Edgar bar for a cold drink or something to eat. Cheers.

Great find in Edgar MT! Appetizers of crispy green beans and fried mushrooms are excellent. Bone in ribeye and a black and blue burger for our entrée. Outstanding taste and temperature. Server went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend Edgar Bar!

5th time been back to try since new owners. Only once everyone walked away from table happy. This time was worse. Husband's steak was all gristle. How can the cook not see that. Because our friends were taking us out this time my husband didn't say anything. The last time we were there his NY was good but the time before it was again full of gristle. NY are always trimmed and no gristle. That time we told the waitress and she came back to the table and said the cook knew it was a bad cut of meet. Yet he still served it???? And no offer of compensation, which we never take, but hope they listen. But this time his steak was disgusting. A funny brown color and solid gristle ( and he asked for Medium Rare) when we all git in the car our friend said his Prime Rib was solid fat. And cold. My prime rib was trimmed well but my plate came out like warm and again why can't they make fluffy mashed potatoes. They use to be. They are now runny and starchy. We have tried this restaurant 5 times with new owners and I don't think they listen to their patrons. Just not like the old Edgar's. Which was amazing food.

One year ago we wrote a 5 star review. Sadly this evening on our first visit of 2024 since the new owners took over, we are having to leave a 1 star review. My husband's steak and potatoes were cold, he returned the meal to be warmed up. The baseball cut steak that I ordered as medium/well arrived black and very well done, my sweet potato was overcooked and mushy, my garlic mushrooms didn't have any garlic (just butter). Our dog will be enjoying my overdone steak tomorrow! This once "good thing" is now history. We will not be returning and it's sad since we live just 2 miles away and was always our favorite place to eat and take our guests to enjoy. I see another patron left a similar review just 4 days ago referring to the food being overcooked. Hopefully the new owners will take note.

The steak was over cooked. The 7 dollar a piece shrimp were extremely chewy/overdone. You can get a much better meal and cooked correctly at home. The service was good which is why I gave 2 stars. Maybe they have a new cook?

Don't let the outside fool you! Awesome good, big servings, come hungry! Excellent service, highly recommend the trip. Had the firecracker shrimp it was excellent, along with prime rib, and some giant prawns! Overall just an awesome small town place that once you go, you will keep going back.

I've gone to this bar for take-out food and prior to my last visit, I had AWESOME food. My last visit on 2/17/2023 was unimpressive. The tater tots were burnt, my chicken fried steak was burnt, the meatballs on the spaghetti were burnt...I spent $141 for primarily burnt food. I've found other restaurants with amazing food that is cooked to perfection and a lot less cost. I will say on a positive note, the service was great!

We stopped by for a quick lunch. It was the best French Dip sandwich I've had in many, many years. It was great tasting, bread was fresh, meat was extremely tender. I had it with the onions and mushrooms. My wife had the "Edgar Bar Original Salad" and all I can is both meals surpassed our expectations. Hats off to the kitchen and wait staff. Super job.

The food here is baller! Steaks are excellent, sandwiches are great, and everything else is solid. Nice seasonal cocktail menu as well. Have been a couple times now and it's worth the trip from Billings if you want a great steak dinner. Waitresses are very knowledgeable and can handle customers who've experienced the inevitable long wait unless you've made a reservation. Don't expect fancy steakhouse atmosphere tho, very small dining hall, non-existent waiting area.

My wife and our roomate went for dinner sept. 30th after Angie booked us at a perfect table by the fireplace as I requested a table away from other people with my anxiety. Kelia was our server who was very professional, she picked roses earlier on my request. We have never had such a great experience and food, prawns, blackened prime and rib steak. This restaurant was better then the old windmill and rex in Billings. The owners are great and have total hands on with great smiles, thank you guys, all of you.

The food is outstanding! The service was very good. The hostess needs some people skills improvement. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant because they have other reservations that apparently needed our table. Its not like we didn't spend alot of money, 4 of us for dinner and drinks. We spent 300.00 dollars. Its not that we didn't thoroughly enjoy our dinner at all, but the hostess needs some work! They were very busy. We waited for our food and drinks longer than it took us to eat!

Really great atmosphere and service, usually top notch food too! This time my Ribeye steak came out a bit tough. Ordered it medium rare and it was cooked right, just not as tender as I'd like. Perhaps it was cooked at too high of a temp or the steak wasn't room temp when it was cooked, but definitely lacked the tender juiciness that I love about ribeyes. Jumbo shrimp, appetizers, and sides were great though.

We have been here a few times now and thought I’d better do a review. Each time we have been here the food has been top notch and served with a smile! The New York strip steaks are always cooked and seasoned to perfection. Tender, juicy and so flavorful. The skins on mashed potatoes have some yummy magic ingredients that it was worth ruining my low carb diet! The prawns are also out of this world. Lightly battered, tender and HUGE! Very very good food and service! Definitely worth the drive and I’m looking forward to going back!

I would have never stopped here on my own because it looks like a simple drive bar, but local friends brought us for dinner. Dinner was simply outstanding! We had Shelby and her infectious smile taking care of a table of almost 20 and she managed everything without a hitch while still taking care of other tables. The steaks were phenomenal and despite thinking I would take home leftovers I ate the entire 30 oz porterhouse while my wife did serious damage to the baseball cut sirloin with crab. She did say she liked mine better though. You can't go wrong even with a 30 minutes drive to the bar like we had.

This was our first time eating here after being told what a great place this is to eat. To our surprise it is well worth what you get and pay for. Food is made fresh and brought out to your table. All I can say is Wow! ... And go in hungry. The staff and all are very polite and courteous. Make sure you make a reservation though ahead of time so that you are guaranteed a table before the walk-ins. Best food we've had in along time. We definitely will be going back and taking our Family and Friends with us. Go try it you will not be disappointed. 😁

One of the best meals I've had in a long time!! I got the "Steak Fingers" which is steak that's lightly battered and fried! It was amazing!! If you’re used to ordering your steak less well-done than you’d actually like in order to avoid overly-cooked cuts, have no fear. I ordered med-well and that’s exactly what I got, even perhaps a tick less done than that, which is fine with me. The sides are all outrageously good. Can’t go wrong at the Edgar Bar.

My soul left my body... I made sounds that would make other women jealous... I'm pretty sure I heard a lady at the next table say, "I'll have what she's having." The ribeye was so perfectly cut and perfectly cooked (med-rare), that it made me consider divorcing my husband, right then and there, and running away with the man behind the grill here. My father-in-law's rare prime rib was superb... looking and tasting (I had to pull the whole "what's that over there?!" trick to sneak a piece from his plate.... And risked taking a knife to the hand.... But it was so worth it)! The jumbo shrimp was a giant treat and the sides were perfect complements to the main event that was MEAT! Seriously.... If you are within an hour of this place, you should check it out. RESERVATIONS ONLY! I will dream of this dinner for a long time.

Had my wife's surprise bday lunch here with 11 of us attending. Waitress was awesome! Food was amazing! Made my wife cry when she walked in, thinking we were having a quiet lunch for 2 and everyone yelled "surprise!" The staff is very polite, helpful...did I mention the great food!

We traveled west from the Chief Plenty Coups Park to the Edgar Bar on a nice gravel road upon the recommendation of the park ranger. The food was great and the service was excellent. I had the special Cowboy hamburger with cheese, onion straws, and Edgar sauce. I’ve never had homemade tator tots, but now I’m trying to figure out how to get back to the Edgar Bar before we fly home! It was an easy drive north to Laurel to get back to Billings. Don’t forget to look for Edgar’s own “Car Ranch” just east of the bar before you cross the railroad tracks!!!

We all know that the Edgar bar has the best steak in Montana, with beef so local that you can almost pick it out like a lobster tank. What truly puts the Edgar Bar above and beyond is that you can’t go wrong off their menu. They have fresh delicious entree salads, every appetizer is worth ruining your diet over, and the fish and prawns are worth the trip alone. It is not often that the best fried chicken, salad, steak, sandwiches/burgers in a five hour drive are all under one roof. All sandwiched in with ownership and service that treats you like family.

The famous Edgar Bar.. absolutely ridiculous showing of the owner and staff. Fully incapable of accommodating 7 people. Staff was not helpful whatsoever and quite frankly ruined a birthday dinner. Staff just wanted to stick us outside in 50 degree weather. Thanks for nothing. Very unprofessional.

Typical small town bar with amazing food. I have friends that plan their road trip around stopping here. Worth the drive from Billings if you are looking for a great burger or outstanding prime rib. Make sure you get the homemade tots, they are the size of a hush puppy and taste amazing.

Toughest sirloin and NY Strip ever! Very disappointing. We ordered the New York strip and the sirloin with both steaks cooked medium rare, but they were so tough it was difficult to cut. Little seasoning and didn't appear marinated. We were starving and felt if we sent it back we would be waiting a long time for the replacement. Since both steaks were tough as nails I doubt a new one would have been any better, but we didn't want to wait. The Oswald family farm has some tough grass that's been fed to their cows. Bring a very sharp knife and possibly a spoon because I don't believe there was one in the restaurant.
