The vegan super arepa was the best thing I ate while vacationing in Colorado. Amazing.

Charming little hole in the wall in the middle of Goldens touristy downtown, it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it or swept away by the masses of families and students milling about. A small family run operation by the looks of it it brings authentic and lovingly crafted Latin American cuisine. I had the Super (and it is) Arepa with El pastor as the protein and I was pleasantly surprised. A little messy but expertly tucked into a handheld wrapper, there are a handful of flavors coinciding and creating a symphony for the taste buds. Ask for spicy if you want spicy. I haven't tried that yet. I highly recommend and will be returning again, soon.

One of the best restaurants in Golden. Absolutely go here is you are looking for a delicious meal! Burritos are bang for your buck. Arepas and Morcilla are absolutely amazing! As are the fresh fruit drinks- Maracuya is my favorite!

this place is insanely good. i’ve been coming here for 7 years and the quality remains high relative to other restaurants in the town. the owners are always friendly and prices are very reasonable given colorado inflation. i love this place!!

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. I tried the papusas with chicken and green chile, which were quite good—flavorful and satisfying. However, the Colombian tamale was a major letdown. The flavors were lacking, and it didn't hold its shape at all. It was incredibly dry, and it felt like they just tossed in a bland piece of chicken without any seasoning into the masa. Additionally, I ordered a papaya juice, which was a 3/10. It was very watery and lacked the rich, sweet flavor I was hoping for. I’m disappointed because my family is from Colombia, and I feel they’re catering to a certain demographic without delivering authentic flavors.

Great little place to have a quick and hearty stuffed arepa. Enjoyed the great tasting arepa. Nice pick me up after a hike in the mountains. The natural juices were great tasting as well.

Wonderful latin food. You may arrive to find a sign that says they are closed today, or even this week. Would be nice if they updated their phone message to announce the situation

I work in Golden and eat out once or twice a week for lunch. I'm so happy that I found El Callejon. If you're tired of the other places, try here. It tasts as good as it looks. (Naked children burrito)

A quintessential “hole-in-the-wall” - El Callejon is a hidden gem. The food is AMAZING, all cooked to order, and almost everything on the menu is gluten free. Seating is limited, but on nice days we sit outside anyway. We have been here a handful of times and will be back many more!

The vegan super arepas here are delicious. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Golden, especially if I'm looking for a relatively healthy lunch.

The food is very good, but it’s wildly expensive for the portion sizes and the type of food compared to other restaurants with similar menu items in the area. Especially being a grab and go type of place, $50 for two people for takeout lunch is just a little crazy

Obsessed with their Al pastor super arepas. Could eat them every day!! I’ve tried them at other places in Denver and they have the best by far. SO GOOD!

I would go far out of my way to eat here again. The arepas are perfect. Al Pastor all the way. Lots of authentic food and drinks. Absolutely try it. Golden is an adorable town. Summer nights are around perfect time to come wander after eating.

Delicious & fresh Latin American food! We recommend the vegan arepa and pork & chili pupusa with salsa at the side. Both are gluten-free. Very nice staff and quick service! We also loved looking at all of the beautiful decor inside of the restaurant. Can't wait to try more dishes!

Gluten free and dairy free options are available. My daughter, who has severe food allergies (dairy, wheat, eggs, nuts, sesame, beef), was able to enjoy the arepas without any reactions. She was so happy that we had to order another one to go for later.

Super good food! Got guava juice, black bean tamale, veggie pupusa and chicken quesadilla. Would recommend all of them. Sure they are take-out only, but there are nice seats right out of the door. The entire experience was amazing

A small shop offering some tasty Latin American food: our veggie arepa (with flavourful plantains) was the ideal afternoon snack! Friendly, efficient service with an outdoor sitting area. We’re eager to revisit with larger appetites!

The food is really good, but small portions for what it is. There's only room for about 4 people to sit in the actual restaurant space so most people probably only go there when the weather is nice so you can sit at the tables outside. Atmosphere was only 2 stars but that was because this is a grab and go kind of place.

Food was less "authentic mexican" than I was led to believe. Might be OK for the white folks but my taste buds are brown. The green chille was watery and was $15 for the al pastor burrito. No indoor seating. Not very impressed with this place I don't think I will be back

Thought the food here was really good. We got the chicken pupusa and an al pastor quesadilla. I impulse bought the pupusa because I saw another group of people eating it and it looked so good, and it did not disappoint. Their coleslaw/veggie mix was really good too. The star of the show though was that quesadilla: big serving with lots of flavor. The restaurant is only open for takeout, but there’s plenty of outdoor eating tables. Would definitely come back here!

This is our fav resturant in golden. Excellent food. Super nice people that work here. Some of the most reasonable prices for food that you can find. Everything is quality, homemade, and very tasty. We go here all the time!

One of my absolute favorite local spots. El Callejon has some of the best tasting food I’ve had the pleasure of eating, Latin American or not. The crown jewel in my opinion is the Colombian tamale. This dish has such a myriad of terrifically combined flavors, definitely a must try! The Super Arepa is my number two pick with another diverse set of flavors and textures that make the mouth water. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and they’re freshly blended fruit drinks are so refreshing as well. The staff are courteous and the chefs are so skilled!

Was on a tour that stopped in Golden. I had the chicken supreme arepa and pineapple lulo juice. I really enjoyed it!! The sweetness of the plantain in the last few bites was a nice treat!

O-M- to the G! This place is fabuloso!! We live in Parker and I make the family make the long drive to Golden JUST to eat the food from this place. There’s no seating inside so that tells you how much these ratings are ALL about the food. Highly recommend the vegetarian super arepa with pinto beans. Mouth. Is. Watering.

Food never disappoints. My favorites are the carne asada and the zucchini papusas. The pico de gallo is really good (it's cabbage based, not traditional onions, tomatoes, cilantro). Anytime we're in the area we stop by. Take home some frozen papusas too! Lots of gluten free options.

Super delicious spot! It’s a very small place but the food is to die for. I got the stuffed arepa with beef and it was by far one of my best meals since getting to CO. Definitely recommend to anyone, the owners are also super nice and welcoming.

These papusas will put other papusas to shame. Other papusas I've had are a bit to greasey, but not these. The fruit drinks are also fire (very delicious)

Ordered chips and guac, a supreme arepa pork and a black bean papusa for my kiddo. Everything was DELICIOUS! it was to go only, but there were some chairs on the sidewalk which was perfect for enjoying the weather and viewing the Golden Downtown area. We came for all the gluten free options. 100% recommend.

Google told me it would be a good fit for me. The supreme pork arepa is to die for. The plantains weren't great. The dessert pupusa was good, but not what I expected. It had a lot of corn in it and a very strong corn flavor that doesn't quite fit with the coconut, pineapple, cajeta & lechita flavors. Very much like a Mexican pastel de elote. The truly disappointing piece was that this place is teeny tiny. Callejón is the Spanish word for alley, and that's exactly how this spot was built; by putting a roof over an alley. While there is room for a few tables and chairs, they haven't opened their seating back up from Covid, so you have to sit outside on the sidewalk, in the wind. There's no restroom. Prices are reasonable.

Excellent banana leaf tamales that are not easy to find and they do them perfect. Beautiful location in downtown Golden with a great staff and customer service.

You have to go here if you are ever in downtown Golden. The staff is super sweet.. They have lots of delicious options. Their buffalo chicken wrap is a hidden gem and they make perfect guacamole.

Carnitas burrito was amazing!! Big fat burrito with option to put green chili on top. I think the best part was it had your typical burrito ingredients, but also had this amazing crunchy/acidic “coleslaw” in it. Hidden place in Golden but highly recommend. Will be back soon

A hidden gem on the main strip in Golden. Great spot to grab something quick to go with tons of flavor. The wraps are delicious and so affordable for the amount of food you get!! My husband and I literally crave the wrap we get and go out of our way from Denver to get it. They also are very kind to those with allergies which is much appreciated and hard to find!

Had the pork Mexican tomales, very dry. Wife had a quesadilla, was good. For a Mexican place, sad they could only get a quesadilla right. Would not go back.

This is my go-to place in Golden. Family-run with outstanding (!!) food. Everyone I bring there raves about it. The place is quite small, but that’s true for a lot of the places in downtown Golden. Bottom line, we’ve never once failed to get seated. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it’s all been excellent. Try the pork pupusa with a tamarind Jarritos!!

Stop here every trip to Golden. Even during the pandemic I ate there last fall sitting outside and today we ordered takeout cause it’s cold outside. My favorite is still the Salmon wrap. I think it is #8 or maybe #9. Yum!
