This place started as a taco truck in 2011 and it was so popular that owner Haig Leonard opened this little gem of a restaurant in 2015. It's a small rustic space with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are all friendly and efficient. Best of all, the food is fantastic, each item on the menu has rich blend of flavors and textures. We always start with their house made chips and salsa. And then my fav is the fish taco; white fish marinated in coconut milk and lime, dredged in cornmeal and fried, with a mango salsa, shaved cabbage and sour cream. But there isn't a loser on the menu. A must try for anyone who likes mexican food.

If you want to risk your fish tacos being over cooked and over fried get Monday-fridays if you want absolute PERFECTION every. single. time. with flaky tender loaded fish order on Saturdays and Sundays because that cook is amazing! never disappoints. I eat here very often and have always experienced this. Still optimistic they figure it out because this is my guilty craving and I drive over 40 minutes. Five stars on sat-sunday!

Great beef and fish taco's! They could strain the meat a little more before putting it in the soft taco so they aren't so wet. The taste to is really good and worth just under 4 dollars!

I gave this place a couple tries. The food is not good at all. It is not authentic Mexican- not even close. There is no flavor no nothing. The rice is bland and gummy.They use cheap flour tortillas that you buy in stop&shop and use so much vinegar as a “seasoning” that you might as well just chug it out of a bottle. I dont understand how it’s this bad. You can buy a taco dinner set at any grocery store and it would taste better. Seriously, how can you mess up tacos and burritos?

The restaurant is John tasty and good and I just love the taste of good burrito and I just tried a pork and bean burrito and I am so happy and satisfied with all the dishes taste

The food was very good quality and flavor. Real rice and beans, not the fast food rice and beans many Mexican places serve. If you eat outside as we did, you have to put up with road noise, but otherwise it’s fine for a counter order type place. Priced right and delicious!

Although I haven’t been to the storefront myself, my parents rave about this place so I decided to book their taco truck for my birthday over Memorial Day weekend. I am so glad I did. Overall communication with Haig was top notch, responded immediately whenever I emailed. He also proactively reached out when they had a cancellation to offer me an earlier time. Mark and Emily were amazing the day of. They showed up early and made sure everyone had one last round of tacos before closing up shop. Super personable and great to work with. Most importantly the tacos were a hit!! Everyone’s favorites seemed to be the fish and steak. Chicken was good as well, but the fish and steak were the standouts. I highly recommend anyone looking for a food truck idea to check out El Camino. Reasonably priced compared to pizza trucks. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

This place was nice and clean and neat. The people were friendly and the take out was quick. The prices were very reasonable. I got a Chicken Quesadilla which was ok but not great. I could have done better at home. Probably worth trying other items on the menu for the price and pleasant atmosphere.

The chicken quesadilla is my favorite. Not really a fan of the tacos.

I’ve been coming to this place since the owner only had his food truck in the parking lot. This place is one of my favorite restaurants in the world and I will continue to go back. The food is great and not over priced. It also has a great atmosphere year round.

Fantastic food for a fantastic price. You can buy 4 tacos here for the price it would cost you to get 3 mediocre tacos at Senor Pancho's that they don't even make for you.

Dude on the truck was super rude didn’t really care about the customer he looked like he didn’t even want to be there has no passion for making a good taco. Worst experience I’ve ever had from a taco truck. Taco was nothing special. Feel bad for the girl that had to work by his side. If you have no passion just get off the truck and let someone else be great because there are individuals that would love to make a change one taco at a time.

What a gem of a restaurant! The food is extremely tasty. The staff are very friendly. The music is just loud enough to be background sounds, so talking with your table mates is easy. I can't wait to go back.

The steak and chicken tacos were brilliant from what I understand of my family the fish tacos are equally as good.

Fresh made and delicious Mexican food at a reasonable price. Portions are large and burritos not for the small appetite! Indoor and outdoor dining available and can get very busy at times during the evening and weekends.

Tried to pick up 4 tacos on my way home from work, 6:30 p.m. Was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I walked out and ordered from somewhere else.

This is our go to place for Mexican food in a very casual setting. Today I had a chicken taco, very good with lots of chicken. My wife and I split a steak burrito. Burrito was very tasty but the soft taco shell was cold making for a less than stellar taste. I can say that the salsa and chips were superb as usual. Service is good and prices are fair. We will go back and hopefully the rating will move back to their usual 5.

The tacos are delicious here, we got steak, fish and pork tacos, rice w/ beans and chips w/ salsa. We always order a few extra to take home.

This place is awesome! Very inexpensive and with fresh and delicious ingredients. I recommend the fish tacos but the sweet potato rice bowl is incredible too, (and vegetarian). This is a hidden gem right off 84. Definitely worth a stop every time I’m driving nearby.

Great new American twist on trad. Mexican food . Never a bad time. ONLY fish taco I'll ever eat. Light and cornmeal breaded ! And a steak bowl ! That's a meal! Don't forget the jarritos soda !

Fresh and delicious. Simple, authentic menu with just what you need. Built for take out and visit the truck if you can. There is a nice patio to enjoy in the warm weather and a few no frills seats inside. Fish tacos and fresh nachos are perfection.

Really surprised just how bad this place was. Overcooked meat, tacos only on flour tourtillas, and absolutely no flavor. This food was worse than “family taco night”. Nothing authentic about this place.

Had their food truck at Thomaston Clocktown Brewery tonight for the private event for mug club members. Have been a mug member since their beginning along with my son. Tonight we waited til 8pm to go out and get the 2 tacos we were supposed to get so others with family members could get theirs 1st. We get up to the truck for the 1st and only time, and he gets his 2 tacos and I get 1. So I asked for the 2nd 1. The woman refused to give me the 2nd, was both rude and a downright witch. The lady behind us stood back waiting for me to get my 2nd like everyone else, and the woman handed the next taco to the man behind her. If it wasn't for the man who was working with this woman, I would not have ever received that taco. What a nasty person she was! And why?! I was pleasant and did nothing wrong! I only hope she gets back what she dished out to me tonight. Thomaston Brewery is great, but this food truck was awful! The service I received tonight was totally uncalled for.

Had some absolutely fantastic fish tacos, I would highly recommend.

The menu is simple which at first seemed promising. However at $3.50 USD for a single taco they fell short of my expectations. The pork and fish were the best. The food was definitely fresh and everything seemed to be made to order. The rice and beans were nothing special. They lack any homemade salsas or maybe I missed something but I don't think so since I did ask. They do have a Chipotle hot sauce which wasn't bad but not good enough to steer me away from the XXX El Yucateco at the table. All in all I'd say if we are out that way I might go back but I wouldn't make the drive specifically to go get tacos there.

Give it a try, you will like it. The outside deck is great with shade from a large tree.

I tried to eat here at 12:30 on a Saturday. Restaurant was almost empty, no line at the counter. Ordered 2 tacos and was told it would be a 40 minute wait for the food. Walked out. Never been to a taco joint where I had to wait more than 5 minutes. Very disappointed, staff was unapologetic.

Idk what's so Mexican about these taco. Absolutely trash by far the worst pork tacos ever. Came in thinking authentic Mexican. Taco pork= al pastor but nope 45 minutes to get food out just to receive the tacos cold flour tortilla no even heated up. Pork= American style not Mexican The only Mexican thing about this place was the jarrito and me in that place. Also taco don't co.e with cilantro and onions like they should to be considered Mexican. But oh well.

The food here is so good! They never mess up my order and the staff are always really friendly and polite. I love getting a vegan sweet potato rice bowl and sitting at a table on their deck on a warm day. I do wish they had more vegan options, but their plain rice and beans are well seasoned and delicious, and the sweet potato burrito/rice bowls are delicious. Their menu is really small, but everything on it is amazing. Really simple, good food. The tacos are small so get three! The prices are very reasonable.

Just not good. Tortilla chips thick & hard, salsa tastes like it came from a jar. No crispy taco shells available, plain tomatoes-not pico de gallo-no cheese except in the quesadillas which are just OK. Got fish & steak tacos, they had little flavor & very little meat filling. I imagine that if you hadn't grown with & eaten Mexican food all your life (in Southeast Texas & So California) they you have nothing to compare the food with. I was so looking forward to eating here & expecting good Mexican food, couldn't be more disappointed. I highly prefer Taco Bell (never thought I would say that).

Second time trying this eatery and was pleasantly surprised by the tasty food! They must have changed chefs or recipes or what? The tacos here are not your regular Mexican tacos these are "Street tacos" I believe. All on soft shells with shredded cabbage instead of lettuce but the sauces and extras are designated to whatever meat you choose... beef, chicken or pork so each tacos tastes different. I also ordered a chicken bowl and was blown away by the amount I received in the small paper take out box! It was full of rice, beans, diced/ shredded chicken, pico de gallo, slices of jalapeño (optional) and topped with raw cabbage which had been marinated in some sort of dressing giving the entire bowl a delicious salad taste! I will definitely be back. Try this small place... has indoor/ outdoor seating. You will love it!

Nobody is going to mix this up as being authentic Mexican, but that doesn't even matter when everything is so fresh and delicious. If Wahoo's from California opened a location, I can totally see the fish burrito that I had as being how they would do it up. Shaka, Brah!

I finally made it here after hearing so much about it and it lived up to the hype. The food was fresh, authentic, and delicious.

Wonderful, fresh ingredients. I had a fish taco and chicken one as well. Would definitely recommend for a quick inex bite.

When this was a food truck in Woodbury the tacos were authentic, flavorful, generously portioned and affordable. They still make a rich, flavorful marinade that is acidic and a little spicy but the cuts of meat we received were dreadfully loaded with blubbery fat and cartilage. Also, The uncharred flour tortilla was mushy, soggy and dripping with meat juice that was clearly sitting in the warmer too long. The place looks simple clean and modern on the inside and has plenty of parking but they need to get their focus back on the food.

Go, go and go!! Nothing beats it, the fish tacos are fresh and crispy, anything you order is made fresh, quality quality products. Amazing staff, all so friendly! If you haven’t gone you need to go...this of us who have gone will go over and over again!!!

If you haven't been here you're missing out. This place is unreal. I get the chicken rice bowl almost every time but the steak tacos are amazing. If you'd like fish tacos then dive in because those are good too. You can't go wrong. Everything is fantastic.

Great Mexican food. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are fair. Steak Burrito is enough for 2 people. Chips and Salsa are a must. If in the area a visit is,a must.

Just today called in my order for fish taco and steak burrito. The taco was delicious with mango salsa, big chunks of mango and tasty crisp cabbage. The steak burrito will be for another meal and it’s nice and fat and heavy. Nice clean place inside. No need to ever go to a Taco Bell if you live in Woodbury. I’ll be back.

We saw this restaurant while we were driving in the area, decided to stop in to give it a try, and were pleasantly surprised. The sweet potato tacos were absolutely delicious, and the chicken burritos were a great balance of ingredients that made for a very satisfying meal. They're only during takeout during the pandemic, but that doesn't affect the quality of the food or the service - everyone was super friendly. There was a bit of a wait for the food even though it wasn't busy, but the food was good enough and we weren't in a rush.

I bought a burrito that was out of this world. Marinated steak in a burgundy wine..wow cant wait to come back

Life would feel empty without El Camion. Call ahead. I usually order an extra burrito or two to refrigerate for another day. They actually refrigerate and reheat quite well so stock up.

We order ahead and it's always ready never have to wait. Food is excellent!

The Fish Tacos are Incredible!!!

El Camion is easily one of the single best taco places in CT. The food is consistently excellent, the prices are very fair, and the service is always great. I eat here regularly and recommend it to everyone I meet.

OMG best steak quesadillas ever, they also have a variety of Mexican food and you can even order on phone and pick up outside.

Heard rave reviews so we stopped there today. The tacos are nothing like tacos that I’ve had in Mexico or Southern California . The tortilla was soggy, there was lots of filler ...cabbage ! which I’ve never had in a taco , and the meat was in Fried chunks so the taste did not permeate throughout. The ? Owner was very friendly. The wait time very long . Sorry, but I was really disappointed.

We have been here seversl times both before and now during COVID. The food is very good no matter what you order. I have had tacos, enchiladas, burritos and more. The chips and salsa are outstanding. Right now this is strictly a takeout place but in better times they do have a small inside and small outside eating area. If you are looking for good Mexican food I think this is a cannot miss.

I think this roadside stop along a major, lovely country route is popular only amongst people who have never had real Mexican food before. These tacos are subpar at best. The salsa served w the chips has zero flavor, forget kick. The tacos are “watery” and the whole seasoning is nowhere near what one would find in Mexico. I have made much better tacos using a red cabbage and cilantro lime sauce recipe from the Internet. The service is the worst. So unfriendly and the wait time is often 35 minutes - so be forewarned. They won’t even tell you how long the wait is unless you ask so be sure to ask. They obviously think that because they’re the only game in town - because they are - they can get away with it all. Azteca food truck on Main Avenue in Norwalk is the most authentic taco experience that I have discovered in Connecticut. It’s often packed with lines of people from multiple Latin heritages. A great sign! Plus, the brewpub in Bethel, broken symmetry, probably has better tacos. Although I’ve never tried them. I gave this an average review only because of the cute little indoor outdoor setting and they will bring your food to your table.

Drove up to this little building out in rural Woodbury, CT, and to be honest did not hold high hopes. Boy was I surprised! I got the steak burrito bowl, and each bite was as good as the last. I worked my way down through the fresh, crispy cilantro-kissed slaw, perfectly seasoned steak and pico de gallo, and fluffy, flavorful rice wondering why I had never stopped there before. Prices were good, service I cant say since I had called ahead for pick-up, but the flavors cant be beat.

Great lunch food, has some good beer selection. Small menu but easy to choose from. Definitely Americanized version of Mexican food, but still great! Great place to get a quick bite . Burritos are huge. Wasn't a huge fan of the chips - very hard.

Solid. It's not your typical Mexican food. They have the meat / slaw marinated in their own way. It makes for a really good flavor. Never once have I been disappointed with the food - Always consistent (aside from the marinated slaw is sometimes mixed with a tad too much Jalapeno juice for my liking), and always delicious. Steak burrito / fish tacos are your best bet if you have no idea what to order.

Their hours are a bit odd, but the burritos are delicious and huge enough that it lasted me for two meals.

If you are looking for a food truck for your event and would like high quality gourmet tacos - this is it! The El Camion Taco Truck was the highlight of our party! They provided 30 minutes of quesadilla appetizers and then gourmet fish, chicken and steak tacos for two hours. Everything was fresh made and delicious! Thank you El Camion!

Apparently people around here love this place, so maybe you will too, but I did not. It's like street tacos but not? The teens that ran the counter were way more interested in each other than me, or the phone that was ringing. I was shocked that everything was as if it was a food truck, not a restaurant. Drinks were $1.75 for a CAN of soda. $2 bottled water... seems very high to me personally, maybe ok for you. Chips and salsa Chips were really hard, not well salted. Salsa had good flavor. Tacos: steak, pork, and fish WAY to much sweet fruit (pineapple on pork, mango on fish), tortillas were flour not corn, used sour cream not crema, there was no acid to balance anything. The flavors and textures were just were not there for me. So, it's trying to be street tacos but it's not? Edible, but not planning to go back.

Rustic, simple Mexican food. I ve never been disappointed in this place, it is going to be a routine in my life. Food is cooked to order and the flavors really showcase the attention to your order.

Kind of a "roadhouse" type of restaurant, not huge but with outdoor seating in good weather, and the food is just great! Authentic (IMHO), inexpensive, and primarily tacos and burritos. Really fresh and tasty stuff! Beer and wine, too. Fast service, but definitely NOT a fast-food place!

Very good! It's our Thursday dinner every week, since our first try! Fish tacos & the Steak Burrito (with jalapenos of course) are my favorite!
