I went on Saturday with my boyfriend who has never tried a frita and my 95 year old grandma. The waitress and even the owners daughter were very sweet . Our waitress was very attentive, I sadly forgot her name but didn’t forget her welcoming smile and the pride that she had to work there. I believe she said she had been working there for 7 years , she made it a point to let us know everything was made there daily . My mamey shake was really good , and the croquettas were amazing , the frita had a gourmet twist to it . We all enjoyed our food but what I loved most was how down to earth and nice everyone was . The owners daughter , even spoke to us , asked us about our experience and she even said a nice comment about us and our grandma. Little places like these , that make you feel like you are visiting family is what makes Miami so special.

The server was very helpful and knowledgeable. We appreciated her patience with us while we ordered. I had the Frita Bowl with no meat, and a fried crispy onion strips and a fried egg on top. So good. I’m going to be thinking about this dish for a while. I was bringing my nephew to the airport and this place was nearby. What a great find! I’ll be back with my next group of travelers.

Best place I visited while in Miami! It was El Magos 85th birthday the day we were there. Happy birthday! This is a family run business, and you can feel it when you enter. Received a warm welcome and quickly got some of their famous Chicharrones. Come early as they run out fast and shouldn't be missed. This is a Cuban restaurant, so food is shared, and everything I tried was amazing. Huge credit to El Mago and his family, I will be back to Miami just to visit here again.

Arrived at 7:13pm on Saturday (1/20/24). Was told the “restaurant is closed because it’s the owner’s birthday.” Yet there was people inside. Third time we go and there’s issues with the time and/or closing early. Not going back.

Favorite place I ate the whole time I was in Miami. Great, flavorful fritas (especially with their house sauces added). I went tradicional but will definitely return next time I visit and probably try versions with more toppings. But everywhere I go, I'm looking for places like this - modest, honest places with history and continuity. Martha, daughter of El Mago himself, could not have been more of a treat to chat with while we were dining, sharing stories about the restaurant and her family's history running it. I wish them nothing but the best and can't wait to be back. Tried several other fritas around Miami during my trip but none of them could beat the champ. Viva el Mago

This place is a must go if you dare to try their one of a kind burger with chorizo mixed in the beef patties. My suggestion, add an over easy egg (a Caballo) to their original burger. Even President Obama has eaten here. A hidden gem!

Found this place after a Google review dive for Cuban food and oh wow! The whole family thought it was amazing. Never had a Cuban burger before and so glad we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You could tell they were busy but you could also tell that they were used to it and there were no problems with them staying attentive. Will totally come back if back in Miami!

1st time here on recent trip to Miami. WOW! delicious burgers. just amazing flavor. Chicharron was fantastic! I have never had a Cuban burger and loved it so much I had to try to recreate it when I got back to NJ. Kids loved it! so Thanks for the amazing food and inspiration, though mine pales in comparison. Lastly, Thanks for your warmth during our visit. Everyone was so nice and welcoming! Looking forward to next trip back.

We were looking for authentic Cuban food and we found it at El Mago. We tried a little of everything and shared around the table. The Cuban mango shake was delicious along with Flan 🍮. Homemade aioli sauce went perfect with fries, plantains, fritas, and croquetas. Topped it off with colada coffee. Very smooth with a hint of cocoa.

There are reserved parking spots right in front of the business (I think 3). Parking elsewhere is doable but read the signs carefully. We came on a weekday around noon and were able to be seated right away. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful. The mango smoothie was delicious and the burger was amazing. Next time, I think I would skip the side order of fries and just ordered another burger, which are small but packed with flavor. Their homemade flan (made by El Mago himself) didn’t disappoint! Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

Great Cuban hamburgers (Fritas), just like I used to have as a kid at Fritas Domino on 12th Ave. and 8th street. Their slogan "fritas domino si te comes una te comes dos".
