The chicharron gorditas or tacos are the best u tasted with big pieces of pork on it not soggy like everywhere else and if u like spicy have a taco bravo.

Great great food, never disappointed, I ordered chiles rellenos plate it’s was delicious, the place looks simple from the outside but the food it is really good! Highly recommended

Wow! $42.00 for a giant size Burrito, & a super Steak nacho, large Horchata, ok the nacho wasn’t worth it. It barely had any steak meat just a lot of condiments and the Burrito was the same way. Where is the meat if you guys are going to be charging such high prices at least add the meat, the Horchata tasted like water barely any flavor for the price I paid I expect that much much more. It’s a shame to because the little pieces of steak I had taste good my expectations was not met.

Like every mexican restautant, the food is good but the place is like cheap brothel they don't have AC neither Heater at least they don't play music.

Once one of my favorite places on the southwest side, this place has come down significantly. Like many other small restaurants across Chicago that have taken a hit by Covid, El Rey has adjusted business losses by raising prices and lowering quality and quantity. It seems like you can't go to a small mom and pop restaurant any more without paying 30 to 40 dollars for a dinner for 2 and get average to below average food. We all know that prices never come down once they go up, so take a deep breath and start planning on making food at home more often.

A+++ my favorite is the Chile Relleno tacos and Al Pastor tacos and of course the giant asada burrito so good!

Flavorful meat (carne asada). Nice size tortas and burritos and they were fire. Tacos were delicious. Guac and chips were fire. Rice and beans were good. Horchata was fire too. Salsa coulda been spicier, was very very mild.

The waitress from Colombia was excellent, nice and very helpful. She definitely deserves a raise. The chicken flautas were amazing as the waitress recommended

We called and placed an order saying we wanted fluatas de pollo asado and a burrito de pollo asado and instead we got this. We though the fluatas looked like carne asada because of how burnt it is but when we opened it, they were pollo guisado that was dry. The burrito was steak and when they said they’d exchange it they called me when I was almost there and told me to bring the food, that had been sitting out in our store for about 30 mins, back to get our items refunded. Unfortunately I couldn’t because my break was about to be over and my coworker was frustrated and just ordered from a different place. The person on the phone also sounded like she was done working there or she didn’t know the menu. NEVER AGAIN.

So Rey use to be my favorite spot. Today I got a Jamaica water and it tasted like sink water. I also got tacos d apastor very greesy. I almost didn’t want to eat it but I was so hung over and hungry I had too . My boyfriends burrito he described having a lot of cuero. So not my fave go to anymore . Atleast this location

Taco gigante was very good! The steak was perfectly seasoned. It is served with cebollitas asadas y chile toreado. Rajas con queso gordita was also very good. Highly recommended.

I can't put into words how amazing this place is. Try it. Your taste buds will thank you for it.

The waitress is very rude,has a bad attitude and acts like she doesn’t wanna work…just stay home if you’re gonna be with the bad attitude we are paying customers,we do not get the food for free,the food is okay but the waitress(glasses,long nails)makes it a bad experience.

I'm a transplant from the northside and so far i've been to every taqueria in my neighborhood and they are not very good. Stopped in here for first time and I will be back!!! DAM GOOD TACOS!!!

Small restaurant with big restaurant taste. Steak tortas are phenomenal and Horchata taste great! Try the Burritos. You won't regret going there.

I was given great customer service got to cross path with the owner. Immediately was asked if I was satisfied with the food. The beans were just right and the corn tortilla with the machacado con huevo was warm and tasty. You will continue having my business.

Food was great and it's always clean in there

Was very close to closing( an hour) so we called to see if we could still place an order for pick- up and yes, they were still taking orders. We placed a phone order and were told it would be ready in fifteen minutes. We walked the three blocks to the establishment and there weren't any customers in the dining area and we asked if we could dine in and the waitress told us that it was ok but they were closing in half an hour. We finished five minutes before closing and the staff was courteous and friendly. Didn't seem to be Impatient with us. Overall great food, friendly employees and convenient location.

This place was suggested to me but i was nit pleased. The steak meat for burritos or tacos wS plain and not seasoned, wayyy too much oil that it saturated the paper bags and lots of fat and grizzle. The horchata had alot of rice particles and tasted off ( watered). The mexican rice lacked seasoning and was bland and plain. I will try other items before I scratch this one off my list incase it was a bad day for them.

The steak tacos were really good but the chile rellano was one of the best I've ever had. They serve it over beans and rice in the tortilla. It was just delicious. Excellent value for the money.

Good local area for tacos. Got some late in the evening but the young lady helped get the order in quickly and I got my tacos very fast. Overall the steak tacos tasted really flavorful. I have the suspicion they marinate the meat in broth for a very long time to get the flavor really stuck into the steak.

Wow. I have to leave a review! My other go to Taco spot is Atotonilco on Kedzie & 57th. They close at 3am. I was out until 4am. I found this spot and DAMN IT WAS GOOD! 2 steak tacos and 1 steak tostada. I took it home. I have no more food left and I am STILL hungry! WOW! Open till 5am! Hit this place up!!! Delicious!!!

Delicious! We just finished cheering on the Bulls and wanted some Tacos. This place was a quick 15-20 ish minute walk from the stadium. Dine in or carry out. We ate inside and had the steak and chorizo tacos. 2 tacos filled me up and the hubs had s shrimp burrito which was huge. They give you chips and 3 sauces that are so good. Definitely won’t be disappointed.

The food is loosing flavor. It had been a while since the last time I ate there. This time the food had little flavor and my coworker complained about it as well.

I eat Mexican cuisine more than any other kind. When I grew up around here, the nearest places were in Argo. Glad to see a place like this on the SW side. The food is fantastic and they served the best horchata I've ever had.
