You can tell this place has been a while. It is an authentic atmosphere. The food was very good.

This is my single favorite place in Provo, the papusas are so good and always fresh and the people are welcoming and friendly. And the prices make it one of the only places a broke college student can comfortably afford to eat out. I LOVE The El Salvador Restaurant!!

Love love LOVE this place. The pupusas are to die for - particularly the bean and cheese / pork and cheese pupusas. The horchata we had was pretty underwhelming, but maybe it was just a bad batch? I don't come here for the horchata anyway. My family comes here often because the pupusas are so good. If you're considering eating here, stop thinking about it and just do it! 100% recommend this place.

I've been looking for pupusas that taste as delicious as the ones that first converted me to pupusas, and these are them. Wow. I'm a vegetarian, and I had the loroco and cheese/bean pupusas and the plantains. My favorite of the pupusas was the cheese/bean one.

The menu is rather small but the food is very good. The papusas are phenomenal and the chicharon was superb. The service was a bit unorganized and slow but we did eventually get everything. It was crowded and noisy but still a good lunch.

The food is very delicious, but the lady in the blue blouse is very brave, she is always angry and in a bad mood and she serves you reluctantly. I only ask that they can improve customer service as it leaves a lot to be desired.

It was good. the food was good. I ordered a couple of dishes, including pupusas. I think in my opinion it's a bit pricy but it is normal when you are trying to eat typical food from other countries . the Atol de Elote was super good 👌9.5 out of 10. the pupusas I can say it was 7 out of 10. and the Desayuno tipico, the eggs with Choriso, was super good. the rice and beans were plain, so I did not like it. Overall, on that dish, 6.5 out of 10. the service was really great and the ambient was good. Will I come back ? Probably.

Went in there for the first time and was very excited to give it a try. Only asked for 5 pupusas between my wife and I and 1 tamal. Waited 1 hour and only got half the order. Told the cashier that we were no longer interested in the remaining half of the order and wanted to charge us the full price. Horrible service. Will not be returning!

The food is satisfying but the seasoning is bland at this Salvadoran restaurant. The wait staff is unprofessional and service takes a long time. There is little communication and the service is lacking.

The pupusas are awesome. People are nice. I was in El Salvador for 2 years and the decor and food represent very well the Salvadorian feel. Papusas are super yummy and highly recommended. Can't go wrong with the chincharon y queso (Pork and cheese). To start

I loved the pupusas that I got here. I thought that very were really well done. I particularly like the pork and cheese. I also got the Loroco Pupusa. I guess that the loroco and cheese is one of the traditional pupusas. I love the green sauce that they have for the pupusas. The sauce was a little spicier than the red. The pupusas are made to order right when you order them. I thought that they were well done.

This is definitely grandma in the kitchen cooking type of place. The seating is kinda awkward and the inside is definitely small. I would suggest to take out instead of eating there. However, the food is authentic and good.

My wife and I went in and it took them a while to even bring us a menu. We waited 30 minutes and still no food. Eventually I had to get it to take out. It wasn’t even busy so there was no excuse for them to take so long. Bad service , Won’t be going there again!

Went in for the first time and noticed immediately that other people got their pupusas first ? They were really good buuut I also got charged for food I didn’t order and was advised that I should’ve taken it back but since it was my first time I had no idea what the dish I got was supposed to have and they were kind of rude about it and still charged me for full price even though I asked for something else and I didn’t even touch it . Also waitress had 0 friendliness . I don’t think I’m going back unless I’m really craving pupusas

Amazing pupusas! We got cheese and cheese with pork pupusas. The sauce and cabbage medley were excellent. I was honestly pretty surprised by how good they were (the burnt cheese bits were drool worthy). My friend took me on the tour of Provo and we ended up here. The food was decently priced and it was authentic as they come.

I got spoiled by my Salvadoran friends moms growing up in AZ, and I've found it hard to find good Salvadoran food here in Utah but this place is pretty legit. Get the fried plantains with beans... they do right by their beans! And of course the pupusas and curtido were yummy!

After going a couple more time i have to severely change my review. Yes the food is still good, pupusas, Salvadorean horchara are a must try. But the people running it and service makes you not want to go again. The location is small and seatimg is very limited. They can fit more if they used different tables. The wait time is ridiculous! Waited 1 hour for 4 pupusas Last couple times we have been here other tables who got there after us and ordered after us got served before us, I have seen the same with other tables as well where they came before and everyone else get their order before them. When we ask for ETA after waiting over 45 mins the guy is super rude and dissmisive. A couple left without ever getting their food and the guy was rude to them still. Guy with all the tattoos definitely needs training and the back also on getting food out in a timely manner.

Horchata was awful. Chicken dish I got was over cooked, some meat was almost black/veiny with soggy skin. Rice and beans were the best part of the meal. Not going back.

I grew up in Provo and every time I go back to visit I HAVE to eat here! My family has been going to this restaurant on a regular basis for years, and when I got back from my mission they remembered me and greeted me warmly. It’s a true mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall place with fantastic food and low prices. I always get a papusa (you might get two if you have a big appetite) and plantains with beans and crema. You will not regret going here! The service isn't super quick so prepare for a leisurely eating experience.

Everything was pretty good, I tried the pupusas and enjoyed the cheese and pork, and the cheese and loroco was okay. The fried plantains were really good. Although I don't think I would come here again for a little while, however, that's just because it's not my favorite style of food. It took a little while to get out food but I don't mind. Goof experience overall!

We've been coming here for about a year now. The food here is always great. The pupusas are the best we've had in Utah County, and we specifically went and tried several places to see who had the best pupusas. The carne asada plate is great. We also recently tried the 7 Mares and it was really good as well. Their beans and rice are soo good. Everything is very reasonably priced, all made fresh to order and authentic atmosphere and taste.

Incredible, inexpensive food. It's $2.50 per pupusa, you're probably good with 2 or maybe three. Try the Salvadoran horchata while you're there, which is a whole new experience if you're used to "horchata" meaning plain ol' rice milk with cinnamon. Will come here again, with friends.

My brother, who lived in Guatemala for two years, and I came here to celebrate his birthday. They did not disappoint! The pupusas were delicious, hot, and fresh. My brother said they were on point and authentic. The staff was also super friendly. We’ll certainly plan on returning in the future.

Is you want specifics, the Papusas are amazing and verified by someone who has lived in South America for years to be genuine. Notice that the negative reviews here are because the place is dirty and too small because the place always has tons of people wanting their food. Take note of that because the food is incredible and if you're okay with the fact that it's a small family business trying to serve the best authentic food, then it makes a whole experience better. Have you been to restaurants in Central America? This place is nicer than the majority of those (verified by my wife who was lived in central America for 2 years)

Vine de otro estado y pase a comer pupusas, la comida esta bien pero mal servicio y muy sucio ,las mesas con muy poco espacio entre una y otra y creo que el Sr que esta enfrente es el dueño y te atiende con una cara que wow es mas ni te saludan .yo no lo recomiendo porque si enfrente huele feo y se nota la mal higiene como estara atras donde todo se cosina .

Weak food. I think the people in El Salvador would be disappointed in you. And why would you have this kind of food all the way up in Utah which people up there do not even appreciate or know what Mexican, El salvadorian, or any Southern country would like.. you should come down closer to El Paso Texas and see if you would hang with some of the people down here and their restaurants. This is genuine food down here

Bought three tamales, two pork and one corn. All three tamales were horrendous. One of the pork tamale had two strips of potatoes and a small strip of pork. The second pork tamale had no pork at all, it was purely dough. I guess they forgot to put the small strip of pork. The corn tamale was stiff, dry, and although it tasted good, it was not prepared properly. I am really disappointed with the quality of the tamale and I don't think I will buying a tamale there again. Compre tres tamales dos de puerco y uno de elote. Los tres tamales estaban horrendos. Un tamal de puerco llevaba dos tiritas de papas y una tirita pequena de puerco. El segundo tamal de puerco no llevaba nada de puerco era pura masa. Supongo que se les olvido poner la tirita pequena de puerco. El tamal de maiz estaba tiezo, seco y aunque bien de sabor no estaba preparado apropiadamente. Estoy realmente decepcionado con la calida de tamal y no creo volver comprar tamal alli.

Solo le doy 2 estrellas por que las popusas estan buenas, los tamales puedes ver que son de dias, y el plato de carne asada muy feo (el arroz en especial) por Dios el servicio es tan malo, la muchacha que atendia no limpia las mesas donde nos sento llevo mal la orden agregamos mas y lo hizo mal, y el senor que esta enfrente ni se diga estan igual, el telefono suena y suena y lo contestan 1 vez cada 10 que timbra. Creo que si volveria a comprar pero para llevar y solo las pospusas, por que llego una persona enfrente de mi y pidieron 40 y yo que solo queriamos 12 me tardaron 40 min para darme la orden y las 40 que pidieron adelante de mi ya tenian como 10 min listas antes de yo tener mi orden. Una ultima cosa NO PIDAN HORCHATA ESTA MUY, MUY MALA.

I definitely do not recommend this restaurant, very bad service and there is no refill on the drinks, and if you go there hungry you have to wait more than forty minutes for about two pupusas, the first and last time I will take my family and it is super antigenic.

The chicken tamales tasted great, but the chicken inside was pink and undercooked in a couple of them.

we walked into this restaurant that was busy sat down at the dirty table. Then another table walked in directly after us. And then another table walked in shortly after that. They took the order of the table they walked in last first. Then they took the second table that walked in their order. We watched all this happen and decided to just walk out because we walked in first and were going to get our order taken last. The restaurant was filthy anyways really didn’t wanna eat there. So we ate somewhere else that was very clean and very good the Vietnamese vegan restaurant on the same street. We are not vegan but the food was amazing! So glad we left…
