Got the carnitas tapatio to go... Was sadly disappointed. There was no picodegallo no jalapeno and no tortillas as described in the menu. Food was also rather bland. Chips and salsa were good though. Have not tried any other items .

I had the chicken fajitas. They were good. They only had 2 tortillas when it said they'd come with 3. My daughter had the kids' chicken quesadilla. She enjoyed it but said it needed more cheese. She was not at all impressed with the French fries that came with it. There was enough for both of us to have 2 meals.

The place is in a strip mall and, although it doesn't look very big from the outside, it's spacious inside with a bar area. It was busy around lunchtime on a Saturday, but we got a table without a wait, which was the shortest wait. We had to wait patiently for the server to take our order and serve the customary chips and salsa. We noticed only two servers taking orders, seating people, and serving food across 8 or 9 different tables, plus a handful of bar patrons. I ordered the Jalapeño Revenge Margarita, which was really well-made and spicy. For the main course, we ordered Enchilada Tapatías, Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp, and a Fried Chicken Chimichanga. We were anticipating long wait times, but the food came out quickly. However, instead of the Chimichanga, we received Arroz Con Pollo. The server admitted his mistake and quickly replaced it with the Chimichanga. He did not charge us for the mix-up, and we reciprocated by offering a generous tip in cash. The food was delicious, much better than we expected. The staff was friendly but stretched too thin. The ambiance was decent, and the service definitely has room for improvement. We highly recommend this place if you have patience or can trade it off for good food and margaritas.

I would review the food but barely got in the front door. The waitress was the most unbelievable rude person. We went to join our daughter and the booth was too small for my husband. We asked to pull up a chair or something and she was awful .She does not belong in service. I believe her name started with an A. The young gentleman Christian who spoke with us on the way out was a gem.

The service was beyond pleasant! The waitstaff are just the most polite and wonderful people! The food was just perfect and the margs....omg the margs!!!!!!! Highly recommend!

One of the worst meals I have ever had, and expensive to boot. We ordered three plates and all were bland. For example, a taquito with an overcooked and tough piece of unseasoned meat in it and nothing else. Empanadas that had no flavor at all and supposedly contained chorizo though I would defy you to find it. The sampler plate we ordered was covered with cheese that suspiciously tasted like processed American cheese, and congealed in the same manner -- on top of (and eventually stuck to) even the chicken wings, and a pool of it flooding the plate into which they'd placed the jalapeno poppers. Just a very unappetizing, overpriced meal. Would suggest you go elsewhere.

Awesome place for Mexican food.

Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in Merrimack. The chips and salsa is always on point, and the tacos and quesadillas never disappoint. The food is delicious and I feel like the service is always efficient. The customer service is also excellent as well.

Service wasn't good. The server was going to other tables and never helping us. we had to grab his attention several times. The food was really good, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. A big issue that makes me want to choose another Mexican place over others is that they give you 1 free salsa and chips when others will give you as much as you want free. They give you a super tiny amount of salsa in shallow small container for a larger basket of chips to share between all at the table, and if you want more salsa, you have to pay $1.50 for it! To me that is ridiculous to charge for salsa and then not even give a appropriate amount to go with the chips to share between others also some meals are dry and may need some salsa and to have to pay for this just seems to me a way to make us pay more but to me that just makes me want to choose someplace else that offers as much as you want or need. If you're going to charge extra, at least give a decent amount. Going out to eat is getting to be not worth it because of the high prices, and it's not that great of service at times and skimping out on portions or charging for these little extra things. I also want to add that my friend who took me out to eat here was actually for my birthday and she didnt give the best tip because waiter wasn't attentive just 15% but the waiter added extra tip to give himself a better tip after we left when he put in the charge! It is just very terrible to tip yourself better because you didn't like what you got as a tip, and I think it's illegal as well. Need to add that came back here in April with same friend and we both paid seperate this time and both of us were charged additional tip money that we didn't agree to so beware of being charged more on your card then you originally gave! I would recommend cash only to prevent this from happening.

Food was great but service isn't that good. They nickle and dime all they can from you down to the shallow bowl of salsa and charge for more playing dumb that they dont know there is a extra charge for the salsa but charges you for it after asking for some salsa with the meal. Went here with my friends and we were all charged more then what we gave for a tip so beware that you will be charged one for a tip then what you gave! Dishonest waiters

Unfortunately they are downsizing their take home quart of salsa. So sad about that. It's a 2/3 quart @ best. Charging more than for the quart . Ugh.

In all the region, this place is the best we've got. I would say that they use less salt than other places, which I quite like, and they always seem to have tapatio.

Not a fan of this place . Food was ok , drink was weak and not what I ordered and bartender / server is rude .I wouldn’t go back to this place . Frontera up the street is much better and they don’t charge you for a second basket of chips and salsa ..

First time here and it was delicious! I'm all about flavor and my dish was very flavorful. Our waiter juan was super nice and gave us his opinion on the desserts and we were not disappointed. Very authentic tasting and I highly recommend. Definitely plan on coming back very soon

We enjoy El Tapatio several times a month. I usually have a martini which is made nice and strong. The chicken dishes and chili rellleno are always done well and I like the ground beef or street tacos too. tortilla soup is one of my husband's favorites and then fried ice cream.

I went with my son and his wife. I love their salsa and chips I'm not a fan of chunky salsa. My guest really enjoyed thier food. My son got street tacos and I believe his wife got enchiladas. I was craving nachos so I got them and boy what a let down. I mean it was like they threw chips, minimal cheese, minimal meat but I asked to add jalapeños and boy they threw way too much on. Just bummed me out as I was really craving them.

My husband and I both got enchiladas here, and they were so sad. Everyone else seemed to be having a great time so maybe it was just that dish, but they were missing … something. Our waitress was super nice though! But I would not go back.

We got totally fooled about the prices! The menu says prices have changed, so you’d expect maybe $2 to $3 higher. I ordered an dinner item for $11.99 and was totally shocked when we got the bill to see it was $8.00 more! My husband and son both ordered their dinners and once again the “surprise” bill showed that they were actually $4 more each. That’s plain dishonest! After all the extra they’ve been charging everyone, they sure should be able to print up new menus with the correct prices by now! We ended up paying a lot more than we expected to and are not planning to go back here.

They took forever to serve us and made ear shattering noises with some noise maker while singing happy birthday. I'm not talking oh that's a loud noise level loud I'm talking I literally had a headache after this guy was whipping this thing around 2 feet from my head... Will not be returning.

The food is amazing, and I love the coconut mojitos.

El Tapatio is really good food, not exceptional, but really good. I am on specific diet and their fajitas meet my requirements and taste pretty well also. I can only base my service experience on take-out and for the most part it is good. It depends on how busy they are and of course the server. The atmosphere seems pretty nice, but in the summer time you may want to wear some mosquito spray if you sit outside. So in closing, El Tapatio has my recommendation.

People seated after us got their food before us, took an extra long time to get drinks, to the point where I was ready to leave before the drinks arrived

Sadly this was my go to Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately they have significantly raised prices and lowered portion sizes. $18 for a burrito with no side and $8 for a draft beer has me looking for a new favorite Mexican eatery. $9 for a kids meal that doesn’t come with a drink!

We especially me seem to frequent El Tapitio. We find it to be simply the best. Chips and salsa are delicious my grandson adores them as do we. Margaritas are top notch, the food is some of the best I’ve had, and yes I have been to Mexico. They staff is so friendly and attentive. I probably should have started with them. Checks all the boxes!

This used to be my favorite place. Would eat here every two weeks. It’s gone down hill greatly and the prices have sky rocketed. $17 bucks for a “spicy” that’s nothing but sugary pre-mix, no heat, that you can’t even drink. #sad

Good drinks, decent food, overall a solid place. I've eaten here about 5 times and all I can say is that things are inconsistent. Sometimes it's amazing and other times it's just not. If you have tried it for the first time and it wasn't great, give it another chance. Overall, I'd drive past other Mexican places to get to this one.

Best CARNITAS ever!!! I am a big fan of this dish and have it as often as I can. If you like roasted pork, this place will blow your mind. Excellent customer service. Their prices are very reasonable.

After just eating here an hour ago I have to say that being disappointed is an understatement. The food is at best mediocre. The prices have gone up extravagantly. Price increases are understandable as the cost of things are going up and on the front of the menu there is a sticker that says that prices are higher than listed in the menu. We understood that and expected maybe 2-3 dollars per meal. When we got our bill the dish we ordered said $9.50 in the menu but on our bill we were charged 15.95. A $6.45 difference - %67 increase! A huge difference! Another meal was listed as $11.50 but we were charged $16.25. It all felt very deceitful and on top of it all it just was a so so meal. Save your money - cook at home or eat somewhere else.

Went in recently and was advised they were closing soon so we tried to order quickly to help out our waiter. We were met w cold attitude most of the visit and then we get our our bill and it’s about 25% higher than the listed prices on the menu. Super sketchy and misleading regardless or inflation menu needs to reflect price. We anticipated a 30-40 bill. Poor business practice coming from a business owner myself. $60 for an enchilada w a taco and a pollo Jalisco (not to mention w no tortillas ever being brought out) w one house marg was $60 before tip. Lmfao pricing themselves out of business is what it felt like tbh and we used to go here regularly but not after this recent experience. Shame they are so tight they can’t update their menus but assume you’ll pay they’re inflated costs! Taco Bell here I come at these prices. Pretty sure 3 tacos and sides is less there now than the combo taco enchilada we ordered at $16.75 listed at 9.50. 🤔

This was the best Mexican food I have had. I haven't been to Mexico, but I know what tastes good. The rice and beans on the side were not just for show like some places, they were amazing. We tried several different items and they were all great. Service was great as well. This isn't in our hometown but for me it will be worth driving back for.

Taco's to go. Left a note to add hot sauce but they did not. Taco's in its origin are very bland with just chicken and lettuce! Would not recommend.

My favorite Mexican restaurant is not what it used to be. Three of us ordered the carne asada, we could not eat it because it was so salty. We informed the waiter about it and nothing was done, when we got the check, a 20% tip was included. We asked to speak to the manager to have the tip removed since we were paying for 3 meals that were left. His answer was that he likes his food salty. No joke!

I can't even express my hatred and anxiety of this place.. after what I experienced tonight with the rudeness if Christian and Carlos...I will never ever come back here after years of coming here. this "family restaurant" is just that. too much family working and not enough good employees. very horribly saddened at how this place has gone under. such rude staff who can't even change the TV for you, tell you to wait 15 minutes because"it's busy", and then wondering where the bartenders went. tonight I brought my friends here thinking they'd love it, but we all left feeling very disappointed and angry at how we were treated!!!!!! I WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK HERE!!! GOOD LUCK ROMERO ON YOUR BUSINESS!!!!!

Got 2 luncheon plates should of been 20 dollars.. I asked for the guacamole and sour cream on the side so it wouldn't be soggy when we ate it... next thing I know my lunch cost 35.00.. ridiculous ... never returning

We had lunch menu which was good except our chicken was so chopped up that you didn't know what it was. Yes taste was good but way too chopped .

I have travelled in more than half the 31 states of Mexico, and eaten in many New Hampshire Mexican restaurants, and I declare Tapatio to be the best AND most authentic of all (see my list). I just had a shrimp dish with corn tortillas called Veracruz. I actually ate shellfish from ciudad Veracruz East to Merida. This place is amazing.

El Tapatio is a fabulous restaurant. It’s the perfect food for when you want something delicious. Depending on your server and how crowded it is it might be a bit slow but the staff does their best to keep your drinks full. The waitstaff is always very professional. They have a good mix of American Tex Mex and authentic food. Bonus is the great prices despite inflation.

We go there at least once every few months. Service varies and is mostly good. Food is great with one bad experience (new chef, probably). They recognize us now and know how we like things done, which is great.

Unfortunately one of my favorite places to eat out has simply gone down hill. When our group of six arrived, it was a beautiful evening, we simply asked the hostess if we may sit outside. (All tables were empty, but the two large ones on each end) She said, plainly NO and she wasn't allowed to move tables to make one work for us. Okay so we sit inside, where she puts all 6 of us into a corner booth, where we are told we cant have an extra chair, because it will make it hard for the servers. The waiter, makes his way over, where he starts to try and immediately upsell the alcohol on the drinks. (that is always an indication of a place circling the bowl.) We order our food, and come to find out that the homemade Guacamole is no longer available. Just the little trial size bowl for your chips. The entrees were good, but definitely lacking the portions they used to be... On the way out we asked if the management had changed, and sure enough, apparently there has been two new managers in the past year. Going to be sad to see this place go, it used to be packed and always filled with great people.

The food was very good and the service was excellent. I had the steak fajitas; they had the right blend of meat with onions and peppers and were spices just right - enough to bring out the flavor without overpowering. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be going back.

For the most part the food is good.... however my plate had plastic wrapper in my enchilada.... enchiladas verdes & enchiladas poblanos were very dry... asked for more sauce... took 15+ min... we gave up! It used to be an outstanding restaurant when they opened.... death spiral

We used to love this place. We went with a group of people last night for dinner. 6 of us. They wouldn’t seat us outside because they didn’t want to slide 2 tables together then the squeezed us into a booth. They got 2 peoples orders wrong. We were really annoyed to the point that we asked if it had changed management because the food and service had gone downhill. Most of all I think I was taken by by the rudeness of not wanting to slide a table over a few inches. And the place was half full and only about 6 people eating outside. There were at least 8 tables free. Just surprised a place we loved had given us a bad taste . It’s a shame

Food is average but the big thing is the customer service. The worst customer service I have ever encountered. Lied about items on menu, overcharged the whole bill and we were talked to with profanity. So unprofessional. A group of 5 of us from work would go there at least once a week for lunch but after this last, rude, shady encounter, we will never go back.

I use to come here a lot when I worked in Nashua . Today was horrible the male server was by far the worst I have ever had . I had to go to bar to get my own refills never checked on us , we was the only people he had at the time . I work in the industry so I normally have more patience than most ! I jst can’t believe how bad everything was food was so greasy and they wings sauce was jst dumped on them n they gave us stubs for a carrot and celery (wish I could add the photos ) We will NEVER go back again . Sad place has jst gone down hill n use to be one of my favs .

The food was good, wait staff was friendly. Portions were very small compared to other local Mexican restaurants. The hot wings were probably the best part of the meal. I'll also add that it was very warm inside, both me and another person were sweating and ready to leave before the bill came out.

At best this could be compared to a Taco Bell of Mexican restaurants. Tamale is by far the worst I’ve ever had with very little dry over cooked beef in it and about and inch thick of cold hard corn masa it was inedible. Tacos were like something you may see in your schools lunch line. Store bought hard shells and tasteless ground beef topped with just a sprinkle of cheap cheese. Will never return here and would never recommend.

Food is decent - typical Mexican fare. The service was extremely slow however. Our waiter was somewhat inattentive and meals took a solid hour to arrive.

Hard to find decent Hispanic food in New England but this place has been a reliable place worth stopping.

Wish there were negative star's to give. No idea how the food is but if it's anything like the service not worth it...waited 10 to 15 minutes at the host stand, lost count of the servers that passed by without even acknowledging us. We finally decided to walk out.

The best I can say about El Tapatio is that it was OK. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside. Getting the attention of our waiter was difficult and when we asked for extra napkins, he forgot and didn't show up again until it was time to pay our bill. My wife enjoyed her meal, but my taco salad was just OK. I wish I had some hot sauce to add but couldn't get the waiter's attention to ask for it. Overall, just OK.

Everytime I have come here I have had an absolutely horrible experience. We usually sit at the bar. Maybe that's where things start to go wrong. I have visited this place multiple times hoping the next time would be different only to have an even worse experience. We have had to wait for drinks for 10 minutes at the bar, our food order won't be taken for another 25 minutes. Tonight when we came for Ala carte tacos (3) as sold on the menu, weren't available, only single orders at $2.75 each taco. This wasn't represented on their menu. Our server had to let us know about the menu change which made us change our minds on our order. She gave us a few more minutes to decide on another menu choice. So we decided to order the "New" Papusas that were on the appetizer menu, only to find out from our server those aren't being sold anymore either. We decided to leave after that. We spent a good 35 minutes just waiting to get some food in only to find out what we wanted on the menus weren't available. It was an entire waste of our time. Buy a beer if you do decide to visit El Tapatio and drink because those are hard to mess up. The drinks aren't worth the money and taste is less than good. Service takes forever. Good luck if you do decide to visit this spot. If you want amazing service, the best Margarita you'll ever drink, and good Mexican food, visit Mi Jaliscos in Milford and sit at the bar. You won't be disappointed.
