Staying at the Ritz we ate here for breakfast both mornings. Great quiet dining room for a breakfast meeting with all the usual staples that are done well.

OK, the good part first. My wife had the Salmon. It was absolutely delicious. I had a steak, and it was excellent. End of the good part. My wife's side dish was asparagus. It was tough, chewy and undercooked. I had Brussel sprouts as a side dish. Again, seriously under cooked. The centers were very hard. Service was non-existent. Almost unbelievably long time before we were able to put in a drink order, and again for our dinner order. Our waiter, Michael was just not to be seen. After we finished our entrée, he showed up with the check. Never asked if we wanted dessert! We did and both of us ordered dessert. He comes back later with one dessert and 2 plates. OK, we give up. Check please! Almost forgot, we asked for bread several times and it never showed up. This is not the Elways of Cherry Creek by a long shot.

Recently entertained several business clients for dinner at Elway’s. Overall I would say it was average at best. The hostess put us at a private table which was great for our discussions so we appreciated that! Drinks, salads, entrees (lamb, steaks, salmon) and the portion sizes were all just ok. Not bad, not great. Certainly not the even close to the high end Denver steakhouse experience that one would expect. There are certainly better options downtown for the price. Can’t recommend Elway’s unfortunately.

We went the Elways for lunch and had the WORST experience! My son ordered the prime rib sandwich, I got a filet and mashed potatoes, my dad got the tacos. Our order was placed, shortly the waiter came back and said the chef thought the meat was too tough to serve. My son had to pick something else, so he got a burger. He didn't even eat half because he said "Mom, this is mid." The waiter also brought my steak which was completely over seasoned. Then he proceeds to tell use that they don't have mashed potatoes???? Really??!! My dad did like the tacos. The manager took the tacos, the only thing that was good, off of the check. Sweet, thanks for taking the $12.00 tacos off. We still spent $120.00. SOOOO not worth it! We will stick with Flemmings.

Our 18th anniversary experience at Elways Had a reservation @ 715. We arrived early and we were told our table would be ready closer to our reservation time. We headed to the bar to have a drink while waiting for our table. At 720 we noticed several parties were being sat. We reminded the host that we had a 715 reservation. The host stated they are getting our table ready. We were then sat in an overflow room by ourselves, away from the main dining area. Steak was good my wife’s salmon 🍣 was raw in the center they ran out of mashed potatoes 🤷🏼‍♂️ the disappointing part was the disregard for our reservation time then us being sat out of desperation in an undesirable spot. The manager did comp our meal but unfortunately that doesn’t compensate for a special occasion experience we had hoped for.

We have been staying at the Ritz-Carlton since Friday and have ordered lunch, breakfast, and dinner through room service and every time some of our food came up uncovered. I asked more than once not to send food to our room uncovered! Yet they keep doing it! Very unprofessional and unsanitary. Food was not to my standards overall. You get the smallest shrimp (don't seem to be cleaned properly)with the Elway's Salmon, some dishes too salty and others no seasoned at all it seemed. No consistency! Salmon was cooked to perfection yet couldn't enjoy it with the little dirty looking shrimp. Not what I would expect from the Ritz-Carlton! Every luxury hotel I have been to covers all your food not just your main dish! Not happy for this kind of money in an executive suite!

Visited Elway's for my birthday dinner. I thought the steak was excellent, cooked perfectly and the seasoning added a lot of flavor. We had the cauliflower and au gratin potatoes for sides and were a little underwhelmed. They looked great, but just seemed to lack flavor in comparison to other steakhouse sides we've had in this price range. Service was great the whole night and we were well taken care of, just felt we've had slightly better food for the price elsewhere.

Dinner for four. This restaurant is on the ground floor of the Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown Denver. I only mention that because shortly after we were seated the fire alarm for the hotel activated and continued for 40 minutes. It was very loud and although the restaurant manager assured us that it was a routine thing and would be turned off as soon as the fire department gave the ok, it took a long time. It made ordering and conversation very difficult. We all ordered steak, either the strip or filet and I will say that the strip was probably the best steak I've had in a restaurant. It was cooked perfectly and very tender. We ordered asparagus, mashed potatoes and fries as shared sides. When our meal was served we were given asparagus, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts, no fries. Our server came by and noticed the mistake and said she would get it corrected but we had finished the meal before the fries were brought. The fries as well as the other sides were very good. I feel like our server may have been a little overloaded as she had several tables to look after.

No stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver would be complete without a visit to the famed ELWAY's Downtown. Recently renovated and better than ever, ELWAY's offered a delectable menu complemented by an extensive wine list. ELWAY’S also just announced happy hour daily from 3-5 PM with $14 specialty cocktails, $12 wine, $6 beers, & $10 appetizers! We were seated in the main dining room and Juan was our server. Juan, GM Brendon, & Elway’s staff were polished and attentive. We each started with drinks, the Seasonal Smash made with Cinnamon, Lemon, Pomegranate, Strawberry Puree, & Fever Tree Soda Water. This mocktail had a tart base from the lemon and pomegranate while the strawberry puree added sweetness and a fruity punch. The cinnamon added a warm and slightly spicy note, which was unexpected in a summery drink but complemented the fruit nicely. The soda water added lightness and bubbles, making it a perfect summer sipper. The Lamb Chop Fondue was made with green chili fondue, sweet potato, & Chimayo chips (you cannot go to Elway’s without getting the Lamb Chop Fondue)! The lamb was mouthwatering - succulent & sweet. We dunked the tender lamb into the fondue and the green chili provided a savory and delicately spicy base. The sweet potato chips added a starchy contrast to the lamb & fondue. The Tuna Tartare was made with ahi tuna, scallion, guacamole, yuzu ponzu, creamy spicy aioli, & wasabi crema. The diced tuna was light and refreshing; it went well with the creamy guac. The House Salad was made with butter and romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, shaved radishes, chopped bacon, parmesan, eggs, lemon croutons, & parmesan vinaigrette. The salad was tangy and fresh with a nice zing from the shaved radishes. All of Elway's steaks are Hand Cut USDA Prime Steaks. The Filet, 6oz was cooked medium rare (red throughout, warm center) and for Add Ons, I did the Horseradish Aioli. The filet was a lean cut with exceptional tenderness. It had a rich beef flavor, and the Horseradish Aioli added a bit of a kick. The New York Step, 12oz was cooked medium per Ross' preference (slight pink, warm red center). The New York Strip was a flavorful cut with good marbling. It had a nice sear on the outside. For sides, we had the Loaded Baked Potato & Thai Basil Brussels Sprouts. The Loaded Baked Potato was made with bacon, cheddar, chives, & sour cream. The Thai Basil Brussels Sprouts were made with parmesan, bacon, Thai balsamic vinaigrette, & black truffle. For dessert, we had Edgar's Key Lime Pie served with whipped cream and blueberry sauce. The Key Lime Pie was massive and was enough for two to share. The pie was so creamy - the best key lime pie in Denver.

I have been to both Elway’s several times. Food and service have always been good. The food was still good, but the service was terrible. The last thing you want when entertaining customers is bad service. We started with a drink at the bar and the staff there was excellent. When moved to our table, the problems began. A drink menu was given to one of our group, but a drink order was never asked for. Any drinks needed, required flagging our server down. Water was refilled once during dinner. One appetizer was forgotten. The server said he thought, since we got another appetizer,we did not want the other. When ordering wine, we were told they had no wine sommelier. No one knew anything about the wine. We ordered twice, before they substituted a third that they actually had. When dinner was served, we had to flag down the receptionist, to get someone, to bring the wine. The waiter had no idea how to pour the wine either. Eventually, they comped two deserts as an attempt to make up for the bad service. The restaurant was basically empty all night. I would not recommend Elway’s downtown.

Atrocious service. This restaurant may be inside the Ritz but it does not mean that it is a continuation of the 5-Star hospitality/service you can confidently expect at the hotel. The host was unpleasant and uninterested. We were greeted with a "sure if you want to go sit by the bar you can" when inquiring if they were serving lunch. The bartender was just plain rude walking by our table telling us "in a minute" as he passed meaning he would be back to talk to us... which turned into a long 20+ minute wait to just get water and told to hold on another minute and he would be back to take our order while telling the table behind us their drinks would be out "when he can get to them". This was confusing as there were only two other tables with people at them and one patron at the bar. Some other employees wearing name tags in suits were hanging behind the bar gossiping and looking at their phones/computers, unwilling or too busy to help. We ended up leaving before ordering and found a great lunch elsewhere.

Disappointing. Service was good. They gave us Elway cards for our special occasions, that's a nice touch. The place looks very plain, like the hotel restaurant it is. There were some highlights amongst the food, crab cakes were good, tuna tartare was excellent as were the au gratin potatoes. Other items were misses. We are big oyster fans, and the dozen we were served were not good--they need to re-visit their sourcing. Sea bass, nothing special, no nice sear, no nice seasonings. Steaks, OK, but typical high end steakhouses do a better job. Brussels were dismal, under cooked with some cheese on top? Deserts were OK.

Our server Tommy was great! We were there for a bday party and we were treated very, very well. Elways is never really in my "steakhouse" rotation but I have nothing to complain about. The only small item was the pacing of the food took a little while. That was probably due, in part, to the size of our party but I also feel like our server may have been a little overwhelmed with quite a few other tables that in turn somewhat slowed ours down. He was excellent though! Overall a great experience and fun time!

Took a party of six for Mother’s Day. They served a pre-fixe versus a buffet which we anticipated would be more upscale offering. Two on our party were gluten sensitive, and we inquired if any of the items on the menu could be made gluten-free, as nothing was indicated on the menu, which was surprising. We also asked if any of the items on the dessert buffet were gluten-free, and after three management team members could not come up with an answer, and nothing was labeled, we went back to our table to place our orders We managed to find some thing for everyone on the menu, but the appetizers were somewhat disappointing as they consisted of a single slice of melon with a single piece of prosciutto wrapped around it, a fairly straightforward green salad with a piece of deep fried goat cheese on it, and a lobster crudo, which let’s say was interesting at best. Several of us ordered the filet mignon and eggs as our entrée as we anticipated that being a steakhouse they would be an excellent choice. We were disappointed as all steaks were served very rare, almost “bleu” and everyone at the table had requested medium or above. This was after a wait of almost 35 minutes for the entrées to be delivered. At the end of the meal, we inquired one more time if they had any idea what the items on the dessert buffet were, or if any of them were gluten-free, after lots of apologies, indicating that they had ordered the desserts out of house and were unsure of their ingredients, we opted not to partake of the dessert display. we didn’t feel as we missed out on too much as the dessert display consisted of three or four gelatinous looking desserts, a tiramisu, some cookies in jars and what appeared to be banana bread or another bread type dessert covered with whip cream and sliced fruit. I ordinarily would give many restaurants the benefit of the doubt as I understand that gluten-free options are not available everywhere. But when I dine at a five star hotel, I would expect the dining experience within that hotel to represent a high level of culinary excellence, and would expect the staff and the culinary team to be able to prepare or at least explain which items on the menu were gluten-free or could be prepared to avoid other allergies. Disappointing experience overall. Perhaps they do better on non-special events, but if you’re going to prepare an expensive pre fixe menu at a five star hotel, you better make sure that it meets expectations, this experience did not.

Mother's Day Brunch, mediocre at best. We were placed in the bar area for brunch, which was fine, although next to the DJ playing a whole lot is synthesized, not so much brunchy music. Service was lackluster, mostly inattentive and we had to ask several times for more water. Food was fine. All steaks were severely undercooked. The Benedict was more like hollandaise soup. No one checked on us once the meal was served. We mentioned several times that we had two gluten free members. We had to ask multiple times - and still never heard whether there were gluten free dessert options. The dessert "room" was meh. None of us ate any. A room full of gelatin. For $85/ person, this just felt wrong. This was the restaurant in the Ritz Carlton. Sorry, but there is an expectation that goes along with that. The Manager did acknowledge the disappointment, did provide a gluten free dessert and did discount the bill slightly. That was appreciated. Yet the experience left much to be desired overall.

My wife and I are light eaters these days, so we usually agree on something to split. Because the food portions are so generous, Elway's is the perfect place for us. Here goes. (0-5 stars) GRILLED ARTICHOKE APPETIZER --0 STARS Pretty awful -- do not order this, especially if you like artichokes. Can you imagine serving diners an artichoke without a heart? The kitchen cut the poor thing above the choke, so all we got to split was two halves of a small artichoke, nothing more than a bunch of charred, spiced leaves...for $19 !! Do not order this! I complained to the waited about it, and then to a host-type person who wandered among the tables, and they each shrugged. Do NOT order this failed recipe! RACK OF LAMB -- 5 STARS We split the rack, which was crusted with French-style mustard, ordered medium rare. This was a righteous portion of perfectly-cooked lamb, which we pronounced as delicious. We took about about a third of it back to our hotel and, with the sides, had a smaller fine meal the next day. AU GRATIN POTATOES -- 5 STARS As good as I ever had, and nearly enough for four people to share. It traveled well. CREAMED SPINACH -- 5 STARS We could not fault this huge portion of this creamy, slightly cheesy side dish. More than enough for four people, it also traveled well. CREME BRULEE -- 5 STARS Prepared as a vanilla creme version topped with fresh berries, this was the best creme brulee I ever had. WINE -- I was happy with my red blend and my wife enjoyed her petite syrah, which is ordered by the ounce. BREAD & BUTTER -- 1 STAR. Perhaps it was foolish of me to expect a crust batard of French bread with whipped, unsalted butter. Instead, we were served strange (to me) tasting rolls and sweetened, flavored whipped butter. I stopped at after the first bite. There were also a couple of slices of a white bread that I picked at. SERVICE -- 5 STARS Attentive, friendly, and efficient. But they should not have shrugged off my feedback on the artichoke. Do not order the artichoke! THE TAB -- Out the door for about $230 with no regrets...except for the artichoke. Do not order the artichoke! NOTE: Before retiring, I reviewed restaurants for Zagat city guides and on "Check Please!"

I went on my prom night with my boyfriend hoping for a good dinner. I sat there for about 20 minutes just for our waiter to come give us water. Our waitress was very rude. We had to get up and ask for bread and water a couple different times because our waitress never came to our table. We were treated very differently from the rest of the people because of our age. When our good finally came out all our food was completely charred and we were already late to prom so we couldn’t ask for new food. In addition to that the fire alarm went off for about 30 minutes of our dining experience we watched as every other waiter went to there tables and told the costumers what was happening, except for our waitress. It's unfortunate. We've had a couple good experiences there before while with my family. We never have had a bad experience before, but we've only ever eaten at the 1 in Cherry Creek. The brussel sprouts were under cooked and had no flavor, my filet was just, OK. Didn't check on us at all. When we finished eating and stacked our plates and sat there for 10 minutes until he finally came over. My wife and I wandered into Elway's Downtown (in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel), not aware that it was in the midst of a "soft re-opening," after a complete design makeover. Which I agree was needed (I thought of the previous decor as appearing to be a high-end Denny's), and can say is a smash success. More important, however, is the menu and food, especially in regard to what it DOESN'T do. Specifically, it doesn't load its offerings with spicing and sauces and other additions that detract from natural flavors of the item itself. Our cases in point: kale salad with cashews, parmesan, and lime miso vinaigrette; steak tacos with guacamole and pineapple habanero salsa; and fennel braised halibut with carrot butter sauce and crispy brussels sprouts. In each of these, the added flavoring enhanced (rather than overwhelmed) the main item. Also worth mentioning: The menu is extensive--steaks foremost, but choices in seafood, vegetarian, and gluten free. The service is superior--these servers are among the best in their business. The prices are consistent with the value of your dining experience (quality costs!). Our total before tip and taxes was $260 (that's for a feast: oysters, apps, mains, sides, 3 drinks each, shared dessert). Elway's is probably not for everyday dining; but when an occasion arises, you can't do better in downtown Denver.

First time for Elway’s and everything to say can be summed up in one word-touchdown! Tess was our server and she was polite and engaged our group with just enough grit and grace to keep us on task with drinks appetizers and dinner! She had a knack for knowing just when to step in. The Food….. from The hot and cold towers - petite steak and the incredibly delicious dessert ..all were on point! The punt return for touchdown was the bottle of wine! I cannot say enough about the selection and the process. I’m back in Dallas and still craving a glass of the Opus One.

I am so glad my sister got me a gift card for Elways. The food, the staff, and the environment were all great. I got the Bone In New York Strip and this was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life!

It was great service from I think Josh the bartender who poured me Elway’s Chardonnay, to my 20 ounce Filet Mignon with Peppercorn Sauce with our server Tess who was great also.. thank you helping us bring in the new year 2024…

This was our New Year’s Eve dinner. Extreme disappointment. $70 steak was undercooked even after sending it back. Asparagus was colder than the steak. Fried squash was good. Ambiance? Not so much. Wish I had my $200 back.

The initial round of cocktails took almost 30 minutes. The waiter was nice but had way too many tables. My original Filet Oscar was served cold and then very rare on the second attempt. I was not able to eat it at all. The waiter was good given the circumstances but we could tell the restaurant was closing for remodeling the next day. It was not a good value and our group was very surprised and disappointed.

I had a new year eve reservation for 6 , service was very slow and impersonal. I had Filet Mignon cook to perfection and tasty , sides were very small and average in taste. Wine list ridiculously overpriced and be prepared to served the wine your self . They should be better options in Denver than Elway

Ordinarily, my first choice of steakhouses in Denver is the Capital Grille. Unfortunately, they were closed on Christmas Day. I had heard good things about Elway’s, so decided to give them a try. What a disappointment! We were seated promptly for our 6:30 p.m. reservation. Our server, Juan, greeted us shortly after we were seated and took our drink orders. Twenty minutes later our drinks were served, and we ordered starters. Shortly thereafter, Juan came to take our dinner order. That’s when things took a nosedive. My wife and I were going to split the twelve-ounce New York steak, only to be told that they were out. So, we decided to split the porterhouse steak. You guessed it, they were out. My wife settled on the eight-ounce tenderloin. I settled for a salad. Next, they took my son’s order, although he was also going to order the New York steak, but knowing they were out he ordered the featured off the bone short ribs. But, as you might have guessed, they were out of short ribs as well. He decided to skip the entrée entirely rather than take his chances that his next selection might be unavailable as well. When dinner was finally served, they served the mains to the wrong people. My daughter ordered her steak medium rare but was served a well-done steak. My son-in-law who ordered his steak well-done was served a rare steak and my other daughter who had ordered a rare steak was served something more like medium well. It was a comedy of errors. I would never return to Elway’s after the horrible experience that we endured. I think that we would have been better off at Denny’s.

After leaving a restaurant with bad service and a worse high top bar table, we went to Elways. They got us in and tho they were out of a few things —it was Christmas and it was late, Tess took great care of us. Wonderful steak, chicken, Caesar salad and Brussel sprouts. Tess even gifted us with their famous steak seasoning since they were out of things. So special!

We reserved a table for our annual Christmas dinner. I had eaten at the Elways in Cherry Creek, so expected similar ambience. I was hopeful the restaurant would be decorated for Christmas. We found the decoration level extremely lacking & the room we were seated in had barely any artwork on the walls, as well as having numerous large, visible scratches all over the walls. It looked like a very worn conference room & not anything like a fine dining steakhouse. The service was non attentive. We had to ask other waiters to help us order our second glass of wine, after waiting for over 30 minutes with an empty glass. We had to ask another staff member for delivery of the bread, which was initially promised at the time of him taking the order. We had to ask for silverware to eat with after our food arrived. Our dishes were not removed in a timely fashion. We’ve been to many other Denver steakhouses & have to say, were pretty disappointed, especially with the level of pricing!

This is the second time I have been here and it was overall a good experience. I was a little annoyed as they seated us at a four person table to begin with, and then later said we had to split the table to two tables. I am not sure why this was our responsibility to move the tables and rearrange the furniture, so this was the worst part of our experience. Also, the service was a little sparse about checking on us since it was so busy. Food was great though.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the service that was provided. Everything was smooth until we asked to split the check. The server had to loop the manager in and then the manager screwed it up. I confronted him and he reacted back to me in a way that was not customer service focused. I expect more from a well known establishment. Once they got busy it was as if we didn’t exist as we had an early dinner reservation. Bad first taste in my mouth although the food did actually taste good. Moral of the store was that service was horrific and a big turn off.

We love Elways! Food, service, and company were great! The only thing I would suggest is to confirm our order before leaving to put in order. We did not order mushrooms, they came and we told them we did not order them but would try them. I thought that person would tell our server so they would be removed from bill. I didn’t want to get picayune when the bill came, but I also didn’t enjoy paying for something we didn’t order. Our bill was large and i left a great Christmas tip but need to relay that concern. Thank you for a wonderful holiday celebration!

It may have just been an off night, however for my first visit to the Elway’s Downtown it was a little on the disappointing side. Poor performance for a steak house. When you expect to have exceptional steaks, and pay a premium for them, you expect the steaks to be cooked to perfection. None of the three filets ordered at the table were cooked correctly. Drinks weren’t ice cold, which should be the case when ordering martinis. Hamburger ordered wasn’t cooked well, as requested, either. Though two of the steaks were removed from the final bill, the overall experience was poor.

Stayed at Ritz Carlton for business and client dinner here for convenience. The restaurant was loud with noise spilling into hotel, and interior had dated fit out. It was a struggle to obtain service (6 pax at 200+ pp cover), water glasses empty, drink orders not refilled, odd staging of food and extra long wait for the bill. The food was somewhat disappointing, the cold tower: the shrimp was acceptable but the quality of the sashimi and crab was low. The steak was cooked as ordered and was generally okay but somewhat disappointed in the small cut of aged NY strip. The side dishes were not edible slimey asparagus and broccoli with smothered in a foul sauce. After the fire alarm went off for 15 minutes we struggled to get our bill and placed card to leave as soon as possible. Upon review of the receipt in the morning I saw we were double charged for the 3 wine by the glass orders for an extra $88.

We had a reservation for 5 but ended up coming 3 hours early and they were happy to accommodate us with no issues from us ordering off of the dinner menu, though this was an exception and is not normal in the slightest. Everything we ate was delicious, the highlights were the Lobster Mac & Cheese along with any steak on the menu. The mashed potatoes were also very good but I'd recommend the Mac & Cheese first.
