This place is a hidden gem! The Cuban and the Media Noche were fresh, packed with flavorful meats and cheese, and the bread was pillowy soft.

Amazing food every time I’ve been. The vaca frita is a real standout. The brunch is also worth a visit- some unique and delicious menu items.

We had the island marinated chicken and ropa veija. Chicken was a little dry but well-flavored. Ropa veija was amazing, tender, just enough sauce, which was really just the drippings it was cooked in. Congri, black beans, yellow rice, and fried plantains all perfect.

Party of 10 guys for lunch. Everyone enjoyed it. Price inflation not as high as at other places.

Wanted to find a homey place while visiting from out of state, definitely exceeded the expectations. We ordered ropa vieja, churrasco, rice, tostones, maduros and even flan. Everything was delicious. I was more surprised with the authentic flavor and amount of food they serve. The churrasco was on point. Highly recommended, looking forward to be back someday. Good customer service as well.

My favorite restaurant in Chattanooga!

I was excited to see a Cuban food option in Chattanooga. Unfortunately, the quality of the food did not meet my expectations. The shrimp were so gummy that they were inedible. While the service was amazing and our server was great, the food lacked quality.

WOW! such authentic flavors. We are Cuban, living in a small town in TN, transplanted from Miami. So we miss our cuban restaurants. This was absolutely delicious. We think the best way to test flavor consistency at a new restaurant is to get the appetizer samples. So we did, and EVERYTHING was spot on. Pork chunks, empanadas, croquettes, & yuca fries. Another dish & cuban staple is ox tail; that's what I had, and again, NAILED IT! My husband had a midnight sandwich, well we took 2 back home. We'll be back for sure! Gave it 4 stars only because there is no bar.

We were doing a day trip in Chattanooga and found this place after a long hike - and WOW did it hit the spot! The service was quick which is always appreciated, and the food was delicious I am from cuban decedent so I was a little worried but they absolutely hit the mark! And the serving sizes were amazing and the prices were great!! 10/10 recommend. We got the ropa vieja and pollo a la Plancha. Only thing they could improve was that it was hot insid- I think there could of possibly just been an issue with the AC but besides that it was a great place and the actually aesthetic is super cute too!

Embargo 62 Cuban restaurant offers open-air dining mid-July. Yes, it was hot, and yes, we were sweating. But, look at the photos of the delicious food enjoyed!

Great experience, excellent foot and service!

It was warm. Almost uncomfortable. Our group was at a long group table. The end of which was at the kitchen window. Most of the party/group liked their food. Mine was "pretty good". Prices seemed reasonable.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday at 11 (brunch rush hour) and had no wait! The chorizo breakfast burrito was delicious, and the chipotle crema sauce on the side was excellent. It was so big I could take half home for later. They had a mango juice that was so refreshing, not too sweet. Not sure if they do regular drip coffee, but enjoyed the Cuban espresso and cortados. Definitely a good go to for weekend brunch, and will be back to try the regular menu. Support this local business!

I would highly recommend this place if you are seeking savory Cuban dining. My family is from South America and this is by far the closest great tasting Latin cuisine that i have had since I have moved to TN. Meal and appetizer portions are very decent. I recommend their empanadas that is served with their homemade mustard style sauce. Very tasty. I also tried one of their popular plates named " La Ropa Vieja". Nicely seasoned shredded beef, white rice, black beans and my favorite fried plantains. Restaurant staff is very friendly and accommodating. I will absolutely go back again.

I'm from the Caribbean and I had been in Tennessee for a week so I needed a plate of food from my region. This is why I decided to stop here and certainly everything was very good. The food tasted very good and was very well prepared. The decor of the place was very much in keeping with a Caribbean bodega. The only area of opportunity is that they didn’t have cocktails.

We were visiting from out of town. We came in about an hour before closing. We had Yuca Fried, Lechon and Camarones (shrimp) both with beans and rice. Me being part Cuban I get so excited to try a new Cuban place and they did not disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. I highly recommend.

First time of many visits I hope. Jimena, our server, was pleasant and efficient with a lovely smile. The food was hot and wonderful. My entree was Cuban Miami with fried plantains. So good! I took a bite of the meat Empanadas which was a delightful experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Spectacular food, great atmosphere, and a friendly staff! Hip fun place. Embargo 62 is truly authentic Cuban cuisine and salsa dancing night on Wednesdays. I have lived in Tennessee for 15 years now, and the thing I miss the most about back home in South Florida is the Cuban food and culture. Once I found Embargo 62, that craving was satisfied. So now I only have to drive 3 hours from my home in Ashland City, TN, to Chattanooga, TN, for real Cuban food and dancing. Not 14 hours back to Miami. I absolutely love Embargo 62!!!

A great place to eat and to hangout with family and friends

I can no longer patronize this restaurant. The hours and when it is open is all over the place. Tonight was teh last straw. We placed an order online, saw it was accepted and being prepared. Before ordering I even checked - Google said they were open, Website only called out making an online reservation, Nothing on FB or IG saying they were closed. Drove to pick up the order and a sign saying they had a special event (not there) and they were closed. Everywhere else said they were open and they took an online order. This was the fourth time they were supposed to be open and werent. Don't make plans to go here, you will never know if they are open or closed.

The food was delicious. The service was kinda slow because we were a big group but after we changed servers to Junior then things were great.

Great spot for Cuban cuisine in the Scenic City! The atmosphere is great, with lots of photos and memorabilia from the Cuba of yesteryear. I recommend the sampler platter as an appetizer. You get all the great snacks on one plate- empanadas, croquetas, fried yucca (so crispy!), and these wonderful fried pork bites! The dipping sauces are amazing. They have a great Cuban sandwich and heartier staples like ropa vieja and lechon. Everything is great! You can’t go wrong.

We stopped by this spot for dinner while visiting from out of town and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were good. We ordered oxtails, Santiago pasta, and lechon. The meat was tender and very well seasoned. The beef empanadas were good too! Will definitely visit when we're in town again.

Wow this place fell off! The worse service ever!! They were out of everything, and they did not greet us or even acknowledge us!

By far the best Cuban black beans I've ever had. And that's comparing them to the best restaurants in Tampa's Ybor City. The flavor was absolutely phenomenal. My wife's grilled shrimp was also 5 stars.

This is by far the best Cuban food I've had in Chattanooga.

We eat here every couple weeks. Always a great meal, usually just Cuban sandwiches. Today we got the pork, it is delicious, especially with the island sauce. The Churros are fantastic.

Absolutely ADORE this place. Everything about it is wonderful. The people are super nice, and the atmosphere is fabulous. My favorite thing to order is the cuban sandwhich, but everything on the menu is delicious. *edit over 6mths later* THE MUSTARD CHANGED!! I REPEAT THE MUSTARD CHANGED! still awesome and make it a point to come here every time I head up here to Chatt. 🥰

I don't think it's the prettiest place but, if you want use some Cuban food, This is where it's at! Go ahead and grab some prime cigars while you're in there to enjoy after you down some of that great tasting food!

Real Cuban food with great flavor and service! I was in a party of four and all of us were greatly satisfied with the delicious food! We are so glad we found this great restaurant and next time we are in Chattanooga, we will definitively be back for more!

I’m Cuban, and I’ve eaten at a lot of Cuban restaurants. I’m not giving up on this place just yet. I ordered the yuca mash.. haven’t had yuca mash since my days of growing up in South Florida. I was expecting a velvety smooth flavorful mash. What I got was a lumpy, rubbery mash overpowered by garlic chunks. I was not able to eat it. The Cuban sandwich was good, no complaints. Croquetas were yummy, a little on the greasy side but delicious nonetheless. We also tried the pulled pork habanero sandwich, unfortunately the pork tasted store bought and overly sweet with very little habanero taste. I will definitely try again, keeping my fingers crossed till next time.

This is in my top 3 favorite places locally and I’ve lived here for 7 years. I only discovered it about a year ago, but I come here all the time. Great food, they make it pretty quickly, and very affordable

Phenomenal. We tried the app sampler because it was a hard decision, and we've never been to a Cuban place before. It was all so good, next time I won't be able to decide which to get! And it was a good amount for 2 people as well. Since we couldn't take leftovers with us we decided to share the Cuban Sandwich on the server's suggestion, it was so much food we were barely able to finish. I would love to try some of their actual entrees next time we're in the area. The only thing I wasn't into was the fried plantains, I have had plantains served a different way before and didn't care for them but thought having them as "chips" I might enjoy them better. I have decided plantains just aren't for me, but my husband did enjoy them pretty well. I'd try a different side in the future.

This place is fantastic. I can always count on delicious food, friendly people, and a clean environment. Getting their sandwiches delivered has also always worked out great.

Stopped in for dinner last night while we were in Chattanooga to visit family. My sister had been missing and craving Cuban food, and she saw this was nearby. The food absolutely satisfied. We had the beef empanadas and yucca fries for appetizers. Both were perfectly fried and not greasy. We've been craving more of those empanadas today. The island roasted chicken was some of the best roasted chicken I've ever had, with perfectly crispy and well seasoned skin. My husband loved the pork, which was tender and very flavorful, as was the ropa vieja. The sides were all excellent too, especially the yucca mash. We will definitely stop in again when we are in the area.

Delicious dinner, in love with the lechón (pork) and mashed yuca and yuca fries. Also, we love the congri rice and maduros (mature plantains). Tostones nachos are a must! They have delicious Medalla beer (from Puerto 🇵🇷 Rico). The service is the best; we can't wait to come back.

Pretty ok Cuban food. If you’re used to the food from South Florida, you’ll be disappointed. Barely any drinks or atmosphere, and the croquetas don’t live up to their authentic inspiration. Would return in a pinch or for a very specific craving, but probably won’t be happening any time soon.

The beef empanadas are BOMB! The homemade sauce is amazing

When this place FIRST OPENED the food was good good for three years. After that everything changed so much. What I mean by my statement is the taste of everything. Ox tails were homemade when they first opened. Now it's taste like tamotao's is the base out of a can. Now that I don't eat beef or pork it's nothing on the menu that taste just like that home cooked chicken like they did make when they first opened. It's still a great vibe as far as the location.

This place was recommended by a property manager, and it was great. We all tried different things, and all were satisfied. It had a unique vibe, but the food was excellent.

Cool environment and the food is always great. The space is welcoming and laid back and feels authentic. The best Cuban sandwiches in Chattanooga hands down. But there are a couple of big problems here. I changed my rating from 5 stars to 3 because Embargo 62 often does not abide by their own hours. Many customers show up for lunch, only to find the restaurant is closed. I was also forced to sit outside during a recent visit because of loud rap/hip-hop playing over the speaker system.

My first time was a good experience. It was pretty slow, so the food was ready fast. I ordered the sampler so I could try a few different things, and it was all tasty. It comes with a lot of pork, which has an interesting texture, but still good. The yucca fries were new to me, but I really liked them.

We are from out of town but come here every time we visit Chattanooga. Get the oxtails, you won't regret it. Some of the tastiest food we have ever had.

Me and my family have been on vacation and we were walking downtown we decided to eat here was excellent. I have never tried churro had my first ones there. REALLY good!!!

It's not a Rum Bar! They do not make classic cocktails because they have no liquor license. Very misleading sign and description of this place!

As a Central American I can attest this place is solid. Food is cooked with love. One of the few places that offer mussels and that sauce you can’t stop dipping your bread in. I’d rather keep it a secret from than share tbh. Tropicália on tap whoop whoop Go Dawgs!

Probably one of the worst places I have been to in Chattanooga. Waitress, with her children, hands me my drink with hair all over the top and her children touching everything we order. And I have been throwing up since I ate there. Never again!!!!

Authentic Cuban food, served with a smile. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were generous and filling! The aioli served with the Yuca fries, so good. My family had a wonderful lunch on the patio, enjoying the beachy atmosphere and lovely Chattanooga fall weather. We will be back when we visit again!

Waitress was extremely attentive and nice! Food was amazing as usual. I'm no expert on Cuban food but it's always tasty every time we go. It's a little expensive but the portions are large so we don't mind.

Authentic Cuban food and good prices, I recommend

Having grown up in Miami Florida I can honestly say this is one of the best Cuban places I have had while I have been in downtown Chattanooga. Can definitely recommend Vaca Frita and the croquettas we're delicious.

Went here for my wife's birthday. I had the ox tails with yucca mash. Food was great. We had a great time.

There were pluses and minuses, as with everything. I got there and it was around 2:30PM on a Sunday. It wasn't busy or anything and definitely wasn't prime time to have music up loud, but it seemed like the overhead music was pretty deafening for such a slow time. The lady who waited on me was really patient and understanding, but literally 3 of the 4 things I asked for were nonexistent. They didn't have anything alcoholic to drink but beer (not sure if a weird TN law on Sundays or what) when I asked for two separate drinks and they didn't have ceviche. The prices were pretty average, and the portions were big, but the food wasn't as flavorful as I'd expected. Not sure if it's because they're catering to Americans, but pollo a la plancha isn't spicy to begin with so not sure why it was lacking basic flavors. The parking situation, even on a Sunday, was pretty terrible, but they also had a race going on, so it might've been due to that. It wasn't terrible by any means, but it just wasn't much to write home about.

Cuban sandwiches wasn’t expected that good.

I grew up in Miami and this is as authentic as Cuban food gets. I've traveled all over and nothing outside of Miami Dade County has come close until I moved to chattanooga. Get the Masitas De Puerco as an appetizer with either Churasco or Palomilla Steak as main dish. Don't forget to try Yuca Fries. This place has the best. My favorite restaurant in Chattanooga by far!

This was a wonderful experience! Authentic and delicious dishes, moderate pricing, friendly and accommodating staff. We spent just under $60 to feed 4 people and *still* took home 2 boxes of leftovers. The Elena Ruz is especially delicious! We will definitely be back.

If your in the mood for some good food this is definitely one of the top five places to go to in Chattanooga. The Elena Ruz sandwich is my favorite. And you can’t leave without getting a Cafe Con Leche.

Delicious Cuban food. Great service. Good prices. Neat place. If you ever in the vicinity, and are craving for Latin food. This is the place to go. They even sell Cuban cigars, and you can go to the outside deck, and smoke there. Which is the part that I did not like. Tobacco smell...

Cuban sandwich and beef empanada were delicious. So much so that I asked the husband if we could go back and get another sandwich this weekend. The pork on the sandwich was so yummy. Can't wait to try it on its own. Just wish there was a chimichurri sauce to dip empanadas in. We will be returning often.

My husband and I went there for a late lunch on a Friday. It wasn't too busy. We both had the Cuban Sandwich. Having lived in Tampa, Florida for over 30 years, we know how an authentic Cuban sandwich should taste. These were the best Cuban sandwiches we have had in a long time. I wasn't too impressed with the plantain chips though. They were tasteless. But, we will go back again for the Cuban sandwich. I gave the service 4 stars because when we were ready for our check our waitress seemed to disappear. I had to ask another server for the check.

I am from Miami and am of Cuban heritage so I know cuban food. This place was delicious, had great service, and is a family business. I can't wait to go again my while family loved it!!

I've been wanting to come here for several years because I love Cuban food, but just never had the chance with life and a pandemic getting in the way. Finally ate here before heading to the movies. I ordered the braised oxtail with plantains and black beans and my friend ordered a Cuban sandwich. I also had a guava cider. My food was excellent, and there was plenty of it, both meat and plantains. The oxtail was generous and had a lot of meat on each piece, which was tender and delicious. The plantains were cooked to perfection with the perfect caramelization. The black beans had a ton of flavor. My friend said her Cuban was also good. I did expect this place to have a more upscale feeling. It was more hole-in-the-wall like, but the decor was beachy with cool light fixtures, like you were in a food shack on the beach in Cuba. They advertise as a rum bar on a sign out front and in the name on the menu, but I saw zero liquor in sight, only beer and cider, not even wine, which was disappointing. The service was good, and our food came out super fast. I'd definitely eat here again.

We had a great experience at Embargo 62. They have good empanadas and sandwiches in my opinion. My wife ordered a grilled chicken pasta dish which she really enjoyed. Prices are very reasonable and it was a very good meal!
