Most amazing food ever!! Delicious 🤤 and great service!

Overly salty. Felt like wait staff forgot about us

The food is OK . But those who work there have to be more attentive and caring . We waited for long long time before anyone show up to have us sited . Even after being seated, they never came to check on us.

Loved it! We got a combination planter for meat and one for veggies. Everything was fabulous.

Zero Treatment for customer. Poor service.

This was our first time eating Ethiopian food and it was delicious! We ordered the kitfo with the enjera special and it was our favorite. The service was slow but the people were very kind.

I’ve been on this earth for 13 years now, and every year Enjera has been open, I have gone to it. The beef tibs are my personal favorite, and the enjera bread is the perfect combo with it. The service is always super friendly and they have never disappointed me in 13 years. I’m so glad this place is around, and in my opinion it’s one of the best Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants in the DC metro area. Could not recommend it more!

It’s 12:30 tried to call in a to-go order and was told the kitchen was closed only the bar is open. You should specify that online that the kitchen closes at whatever time it does bc your staff couldn’t even tell me when it closed. Food is amazing however the staff is not informed nor are they professional and or courteous.

This African restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience for those seeking authentic Ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine. The decor beautifully blends modern elements with traditional Ethiopian touches. The walls are adorned with vibrant artwork that adds to the African cultural experience. The service & staff at Enjera are incredibly welcoming and attentive too! The highlight of Enjera is, without a doubt, the food. We tried the Injera and Meat Lovers Combo for 4. The combo included 4 beef items, 1 chicken item, and 1 egg item, served atop the traditional injera flatbread. Each beef item was distinct and flavorful, showcasing the rich spices and cooking techniques typical of Ethiopian cuisine. The chicken was delicious, though a bit spicy for my Bangladeshi tastebuds. However, we still enjoyed it immensely, appreciating the robust and complex flavors. The injera was soft and spongy, perfectly complementing the rich and spicy stews and meats. Portions are generous, and prices are quite ok. In fact, we felt combo for 2 would be enough for 4 of us! So, whether you're a seasoned fan of Ethiopian food or trying it for the first time, Enjera is sure to leave you impressed & eager to return.

Been here multiple times and now hate it!! They have a menu but make you use the UPC for the online menu. Menu price for meat combo 2023, was $33, now in 2024 online menu is $41. The food is NOT worth the price increase from 1 year. Last time I come here!!

Lovely neighborhood establishment that we go to every once in a while! We love to get the veggie combo for two and veggie sambusa. Such a great value— enough for two meals for two. We’ve eaten in as well and the environment is pleasant and lively!

Veggie combo was good, but definitely not worth $21. The wait staff seated us and never mentioned that we were supposed to check the menu online. One soda is $4 with no refills and the same goes for coffee. A 20% gratuity is added regardless of party size and it is not stated up front.

I love Enjera. I’ve been multiple times and the service and quality of the food has been consistently good. I eat meat but I’ve only had vegan or vegetarian dishes here aside from the beef sambusa which is delicious. I will return to try some meat entrees soon because they also look good, but all that being said I highly recommend the vegetarian and vegan platters. Many of the most iconic Ethiopian dishes are meatless so if it’s your first time having it I highly recommend ordering one meat dish or meat sampler and one vegetarian. Also try the honey wine and the Ethiopian beer is good too.

Phenomenal Ethiopian food! I would highly recommend the combo plates, as those come with the traditional injera and multiple sauces. Portions are also sizable; my go to is the meat-lovers combo with spicy lentils and alchia on the side!

This restaurant has a vegan sampler. I usually get veggie combos so I thought it would be similar since veggie combo is already pretty much vegan. We didn’t realize it was going to be piles of mushrooms. Our bad, we were tired and hungry. It was well cooked but who would want to eat piles of just mushroom? We were starving and started eating, realized we didn’t enjoy the food. My friend couldn’t have mushrooms. They should call the vegan sampler the mushroom lover or something else instead. Anyways my friend can’t eat mushrooms and he lets the server know. She sends us two sides and we are assuming here these are complementary to accommodate us. The veggie platter stuff is so delicious so we are feeling pretty bad. We tell the server about how we weren’t happy with our food. There’s another group of people sitting near us that is about to get the vegan sampler. Because of our complaint, they actually take the time to explain to the other table the vegan sampler and advise them to get the veggie combo instead (we didn’t get this courtesy). We are expecting a 45~ bill. She is charging us $80. Charged us for the sides. We are explaining our poor experience and how the menu is misguiding. My friend talked to the server and finally she agreed to take off the veggie sides that should have been complimentary. We still pay 60 due to some other things they added on without telling us the cost. We basically were getting charged $80 for a pile of mushrooms. I left this restaurant feeling like I was robbed. Abhorrent customer service. All the while we helped them improve their experience for other customers. It’s a shame, the veggie platter sides they brought us were delicious. The bad customer service ended up leaving a bad taste in our mouths (along with the $40 dollar pile of mushrooms).

Overall, the food was good but spicy which was authentic. The portions were huge that I got full even when I was very hungry from the meat lovers platter (beef signi, beef alicha, zigni derho, tibsi, and awaze tibsi) since it was very delicious. The veggie sambusa was also delicious.

TLDR; I'm so fortunate I live nearby. Long story: Boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner, starving. We ordered the sambusa, veggie platter for 1, and meat platter for 1. The sambusa order came with two pieces. They were tasty, crispy, filled with potato, and came with a smoky chili sauce that was delicious and yet not too spicy. The platters were LOADED. They are not stingy with the amount they give you here. Everything was so flavorful. We ate until we needed to roll out of there and we still didn't finish half of everything. The owner also treats everyone like family. Pssssst to whomever needs to hear... This place deserves a Michelin star! ⭐

Very impressed. Never had Ethiopian food; our daughter was visiting DC for work in Crystal City, and we came here as she is vegetarian (my wife and I will eat pretty much anything ). Ambiance was friendly; it's moderately upscale (they put $xx.99 on menu which gave me pause at first that it might be fast casual) and a good date night or adult family night out. We had the veggie lover platter and the Enjera plate special. Both were great - and we left very full! Prices are reasonable for a quality restaurant. Service was efficient and friendly and helped; our server helped us choose appetizers and entrees. We also had a honey wine and an Ethiopian beer which we enjoyed.

The dish I had is called "tibsi". Very tasty, well flavored and fresh. The location is very clean, has a welcoming aroma when you enter and the hostess was very cordial. We did not have time to enjoy the spiced tea after our meal but we will be going again.

Loved the vegetarian option! Decided to get twice the amount of the spicy lentils instead of collards on the veggie sampler, and boy was it spicy! At other places the spicy lentils aren't too spicy, but here it definitely was. And the green beans and cabbage dish were very good and flavorful. Best I've had!

First off, the food is delicious. I got the vegetarian combo for one and it was HUGE. Every dish was full of flavor and seemed fresh even though I was the only one in the restaurant. The server was good as well. HOWEVER, the reason I marked it lower for service is that they add an obligatory 20% tip to your bill. I’m totally against forced tips. I would have tipped at least 20% anyway, but I don’t think it’s okay for restaurants to add non-optional tips to your bill.

I can't imagine how much injera they bake a day because it tastes so good! If you eat it all they give you a free refill of injera. We got a vegetarian sampler and meat lovers sampler so we could try a little of everything and would recommend doing the same. I'm surprised they don't offer a combined meat and veggies sampler. I've been there before and liked it, but the last time I was there, the beef was dry. It looked dry and my friend had a tough time eating The veggie platter I got was good! I miss the live music they used to have. The sort of outdoor area had the AC blowing directly. They were helpful in turning the AC off when it was cold, but then it got hot wo the AC and they had to turn it back on. It would be better if the AC vent can move do that it's not blowing directly on people, in which case, it could be left on.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian/Eritrean food and it blew me away 🤯. This is my new favorite type of food. I recommend the "meat lovers combo" which my waitress recommended to me. These were definitely unique flavors that I was trying for the first time and it was a great experience. I also recommend trying "Mama's Authentic Ethiopian Honey wine" it was incredible 👌to say the least; it was not overly sweet and it was perfectly balanced in my opinion. I'm just visiting the area but I will definitely seek out Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants when I return home and anytime I'm back in this area I will for sure return to Enjera.

It was my first time getting Ethiopian food. Ended up ordering Enjera Special with Meat Sambusa. Enjera was spongy and nice which was perfect to eat with the grilled meat which were juicy.
