a hidden gem. truly incredible authentic french food. i ate every single crumb on my plate. the escargot is to die for in every way served. the beef tartare you order in advance with your reservations and is made to perfection (and i consider my self a tartare pro!) the creme brûlée is AMAZING too! couldn’t love this place more.

My wife is French and we recently visited Sint Maarten and we dined at many French restaurants there and Escargot Bistro Contends with the best of them. Truly authentic French cuisine. We only wish we didn’t live 4 hrs away so we could dine here more often.

I have had this restaurant saved for a while and recently read the reviews where a number of people mentioned having a 3 course meal for lunch for a great price (between $22.95 - $26.95). I am here to say - IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! Escargot Bistro is a quaint restaurant in Oakland Park owned by a loving family where the wife is the cook and the husband was the server. He was attentive, personable, kind, and checked in on me frequently. The food was out of this world! In my opinion, it is better than most of the restaurants I tried when I visited Paris in 2023. The family cooks with love and my only regret is that I haven’t been here sooner. I will be back soon and will be sure to tell others about it! Thank you for having me in your establishment.

Went to Escargot Bistro in Ft. Lauderdale. They have an awesome lunch special that comes with an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The portions are very generous. The restaurant has a capacity of 38. When my friend and I arrived, we were promptly greeted and seated by the owner. He was extremely cordial and told us their specials for the day. I ordered the escargot au gratin, crepe ho la la (yes, that is the name), and creme brulee. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the escargot au gratin, even though there were only 2 escargot in there. I wasn't expecting more since the price was so low for lunch. The escargot was on top of a large artichoke heart and smothered with cheese. There were sauteed mushrooms on a bed of lettuce and sun-dried roasted tomato dressing. The crepe was stuffed with chicken, spinach, mozzarella, and bechamel sauce. The creme brulee was great. The sugar was perfectly caramelized.

The food was exquisite and reasonably priced. We had a 3-course lunch with French onion soup, chicken mushroom crêpe, and crème brûlée. It was delicious!

Everything was 5 out of 5. Amazing. The owner was very friendly and respectful, he answered every question my family and I had, the french onion soup was even better than the one I had in france. You will never find a restaurant that makes it better. This place is out of this world! The portion for the escargot was good, the price reasonable, and the taste honestly felt like I was entering heaven. I will definitely be back! They also have very very good wine. It's worth the drive, the price, the time, everything. 10 out of 10!

First time at this restaurant, we had the onion soup, and we shared the escargot with the poached eggs. The food was amazing. The escargot with the poached eggs was delicious extremely heavy for me so next time I will order something a little lighter. The French fries were the best I have ever had. They have a lot of specials. They have a lunch menu Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I will definitely go back. My husband and I love escargot.

Of course we ordered escargot and French onion soup. I ordered the beef Wellington and my husband ordered the lamb shank. Everything we ordered was exceptional. I have worked at fine dining places and this place is top notch. If your looking for amazing food and a great dining experience. This place will not disappoint!! We will be back!!!

This place is exceptional! What an unexpected and exquisite surprise. This place is small, cozy, charming and I’ve never had better French food, not even in France! I would come back many many many times. The goat cheese salad embraced all my senses. Amazing. All we had far exceeded our expectations. 100 stars for sure. My husband brought me to this gem for a date night. It is a family-owned bistro with the family coming from Marseille, France. The food was excellent! I had the boeuf bourgenion and my husband had the lamb shank. We started with a warm goat cheese salad and ended with creme brulee. If you like escargo, they have several on the menu. This is a charming restaurant run by the nicest and most hospitable family! If you want real, French cuisine, then you must try Escargo Bistro!

Delightful French restaurant tucked in on Commercial Blvd. Yummy dishes, wonderful service. Small enough to be quaint and romantic, large enough to offer a wonderful array of French cuisine.

The food was very good, definitely going back, small place (8–9 tables), wife and husband the chefs, we met them, very personable, they are from Provance and of course we talked the south of France, food and wine. Going back to the food we ordered, the escargot “ahhh”, a different twist on the escargot dish made it out of the ordinary, sophisticated taste and delightful, including a very nice presentation.

Stephan, the owner is so welcoming, and provides amazing table service from the kitchen, the chef,his wife,is peerless with a great bistro menu backed up by lovely daily specials. Escargot is a charming family run French bistro with great food. Try the lamb, or fou gras excelente. They have parking, but it can be Tight. Great service. The cook, one of the family has so many great dishes. It's amazing.

This was our second visit to Escargot Bistro, but the first visit for our friends who accompanied us on this night and while the first visit months ago was very good, this night was even better. This is a small family run place, easy to drive by if you're not looking for it carefully. It has never been crowded early on (which given the quality of the food), I absolutely do not understand. The traditional escargot was some of the best I have ever had. The sirloin/frites topped with escargot was the most tender and perfectly seared sirloin of my life. Kudos to the chef! The others at the table this night were equally impressed with their selections also. If not for the fact we live 100 miles away, I would be eating here once a week year round, no questions asked. Corkage also a plus for us as we love to drink our own wines with this great food.

Such a delightful little find in Oakland Park. The flavour of the dishes was bold. So delicious and cooked to perfection. We came for the Foie Gras and were not disappointed. It was some of the best we’ve had. Onion soup and mushroom soup were outstanding too. Service was friendly and fast and efficient. So nice to support an authentic hard working, French family owned business.

This place is hidden in the corner of a strip mall. You don't expect it. Even if you aren't adventurous enough to try a snail appetizer (you really should), everything else is also very good. It's a family run restaurant with the wife as chef. She can only cook so much. They aren't greedy, they only have like 6 tables to make sure it's the best for each customer. So make a reservation or you might be out of luck. We've seen them turn away ppl at the door. The last time we were there, they had too many dessert options. I like dessert, but I'm not going to order 5. Fortunately, I enjoyed what I ordered enough to overcome my regret at not having them all.

Every single thing we had was five stars. This was such a great lunch and the atmosphere is so French. I’ve never been to France but I felt like I was in a little French bistro. Our server Stefan was so friendly and helpful and his wife the chef is so talented. All the food was authentic and fresh. I could taste the talent and love in every bite. Love love love and we’ll be back!

This was positively the best dining experience I’ve ever had in So. Florida. Everything was fresh and homemade. The food was authentic French bistro cuisine. Every bite mouthwatering. We were a group of five so we order a bunch of dishes and shared everything. I got the lentil soup special. I’ve never tasted any soup so delicious. Creamy, savory and filled with fresh herbs and vegetables. We shared the steak frites, duck l’orange, sole in Marsala, goat cheese salad and two different types of escargot dishes. Beyond fabulous. All of it. Everything prepared to perfection. And the desserts. Don’t ask. Chocolate crepes and flan. Omg. Do not miss this family owned spot. You’re welcome.

Family owned gem. Been twice and loved it both times. The various escargot dishes are delicious, but the beef bourgingon was the best I've had in the US. Also delicious were the dinner crepes and the surprisingly varied and interesting deserts.

Took my partner to Escargot Bistro for his 80th birthday in January. I had read the wonderful reviews and hoped for the best. He did enjoy the escargot appetizer, and ordered the top sirloin with escargot for his main. The steak was disappointing. It did not look like a top sirloin, more like a skirt steak and he had trouble trying to slice it. My duck was ok, but nothing special. Desserts were great and service was very good.

Called about 45 days in advance, placed reservation for party of 8 and they repeated back all the appropriate details so as to be sure they got it right (party size, date and time). Arrived right on time to find out they had reserved a table for two!!!! After much discussion and frustration they agreed to rearrange the tables and were able to accommodate us. This was somewhat embarrassing since the discussion took place in front of all the patrons trying to enjoy their dinners!!! Dinners were excellent and the reason we planned to dine there based on prior experience. The escargot was as good as it gets, the moule mariniere absolutely delicious, while the remainder of our dinners were equally as good! Excellent wine selection most of which were French vintages. Only other issue, venue is very small and quite popular so make a reservation well in advance!

I have been a patron for the last year + since moving here in fall of 22- every meal here is excellent with service and ambiance to match! I really feel like I’m in a small French cafe, I do miss going to France and haven’t been since pandemic started…a long time, I know! The husband and son and wife team are the best and very friendly! They also have a listserv for the weekend specials emailed out which I hungrily wait for every week LOL my love and I came for NYE and AGAIN knocked it out of the park! The meals are fresh and yummy and you can taste the love hard work that’s put into those dishes, I’m never disappointed when I go. IF YOU LOVE FRENCH FOOD YOU MUST GO TO ESCARGOT BISTRO! You’ll be coming back for more just like me!!! =^_^=

Loved it. The very authentic French food and staff were wonderful. Wine and food selections were nice, and the crepes and fish almondine were excellent. The French onion soup had very nice gooey cheese, and the fabulous creme brulee or strawberry parfait were great finishes to the meal. My friends enjoyed their goat cheese salad as well. Food is reasonably priced, but the free parking can be a bit difficult (but a McDonalds is nearby by on the same side of the road. I wouldn't recommend trying to park across the street and walking across 6 lanes of traffic!) The atmosphere was quiet and fairly simple but very relaxed and comfortable. We will go here again!

Wonderful restaurant! Food is excellent - escargot (prepared several different ways), duck, and fish with citrus sauce are my favorites! Save room for dessert. Owners are very nice. Try the weekend specials- they email the specials menu for pre-order or take-out.

Oh boy!! Lived in France for 11 years. We have eaten at numerous 3 star restaurants during that time. The dinner here was better or exceeded any that we have at half the price. If you want learn the best of French cuisine eat here.

Small traditional French menu and a few daily specials. We shared & enjoyed the escargot appetizer( choice of 4) and the French onion soup(2 other choices). Husband, wife and chef are only staff. Friendly and semi-attentive and a little slow. Apologized for wait and enquire d at least twice about our satisfaction. Food was delicious. Save room for dessert. Will return!!

We were in town for my cousin's wedding and looking for a good lunch place. I love French food and the reviews of Escargot Bistro were excellent so we decided to try it. The restaurant is small but pleasant. The owner, who was also the server, was friendly and welcoming. The food was terrific. They have foie gras on the dinner menu but not the lunch menu. When I mentioned this, he offered to make it for me. It was fantastic; a large serving of foie over caramelized apples with a raspberry sauce, pommes gratin and a small cauliflower souffle. For dessert, we split the crepes suzette. All in all, it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. If we're ever in the area again, we will certainly be back.

I can not say enough about this restaurant…it is nothing short of amazing! I started with the Escargot Au Gratin, which was a delightful blend of Escargot, artichoke, spinach baked with a Bechamel Sauce and topped with cheesy goodness!! Yum! My friend had the traditional Eacargot which were excellent as well. For my main entree, I had the Beef Bourguignon which was perfectly seasoned and served over fettuccine. Very delicious! My friend had the Fish of the day which was light and flaky on the inside with a crispy herbed coating on the outside. We paired these dishes with a very nice robust Pinot Noir. For desert we had the Crepe Suzette which is served flambé at the table. I had this with a very tasty glass of Port wine. Our service was excellent. When my friend could not decide which wine to pick, the waiter gave us a tasting of 3 wines to choose from! Everyone who works there stops by your table to see how you are doing. The interior is very quaint here. Red leather chairs and French home decor make you feel like you are in the middle of Paris! I felt at home here. I will definitely be back!

If you are in the mood for French food in Ft. Lauderdale, this should be your go to spot! We dined here for the first time and every course from appetizers to dessert were delectable. We started with the crab cake special on a bed of greens with a cream sauce with a hint of horseradish and the apples with brie on a puff pastry. We could not decide which one was better as they were so different but we thoroughly enjoyed both...For the main entrée we had the fish special and the beef bourguignon. The white fish had a buttery texture that melted in your mouth and the tarragon mushroom cream sauce complimented it perfectly. The beef bourguignon was slow cooked to perfection and served over pasta. We finished with the dessert specials-- the floating island with meringue, roasted almonds and a delicious vanilla cream and a pear cake/pudding in a cream sauce. This meal was as close to perfection as possible with every dish excelling in it's own unique flavor profile. It is a family run authentically French restaurant. They are all so friendly and invested in the dining experience they provide. The ambiance is quaint and adds to the experience. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and pay them a visit. So after reading about Escargot Bistro,, for years and years, we were finally able to get the family together. It was so wonderful, just delectable. We scoured the menu so many times before even arriving. Went back to all of the recommendations for menu items from this page. There were 7 of us. It is owned by a French couple and their son. The son was our server. He was personable, funny and got all of our orders right. They even had specials that weren’t on their menu. We tried a few. Everything was phenomenal from the appetizers, entrees, desserts and coffee. Names of dishes in the captions. Of course the owners knew about this page. They smiled when we mentioned it. Such a quaint place which is rare nowadays. Not pictured, French Onion Soup, the Brie in a puffed pastry with fruit, Steak frittas, baskets of unlimited delicious French bread, pear cake which had the consistency of bread pudding and was a special that night, warm goat cheese with honey crepe and lastly a banana split that my dad says was the highlight. I have seen this said many times on this page and now i understand, the food that was not pictured was so scrumptious, we ate it and then remembered we didn’t get a pic. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice family vibes restaurant with great service and attention to detail. One of the dishes we had (beef with some reduction) was a bit too intense for our tongues but other than that the experience and overall value was on point.

My palate screamed Michelin ⭐️! I wonder how this amazing chef can make a simple steak taste like nothing I’ve ever had before? The pepper corn cream sauce is divine! Every bite was a beyond. Fresh veggies had a buttery tarragon flavor. My friend had the Orange duck and what a spectacular dish! My hubby had the almond sole special and yet another winner! They were accompanied by a cauliflower cheese soufflé and veggies. In the past coming here we’ve had the curry fish special that quite impressive. The Escargo is better than I e ever had so far. Accompanied with the perfectly toasted garlic bread cause you wouldn’t dare leave any of the garlic herbs behind! The portions are plentiful… BS that the French don’t service nice size meals! I couldn’t finish mine and watch other tables get boxes to go home. So we tried one desert split 3 ways, w pear kind of bread pudding taste shaped like a flan with a Madagascar vanilla sauce with a special French name I’ll probably mess up. Omg! The recipes are moms in the kitchen of this magnificent tiny French bistro and it’s all family delivering the amazing jaw dropping delightful experience. I may have to get a standing reservation here cause this place is probably going to be untouchable! Bon Appetite!

A French onion soup earthy and rich in flavors, the escargot are soft and tender. Service very attentive and approachable.

Today I went for lunch here. My friend found this place and wanted me to try it. It was absolutely amazing. The place is super cute. It’s run and on by a Family. This son works wedding tables. The dad helped. Also with the tables and is behind the counter and the mom is the chef. The food it’s really is out of this world. I first had the Salade Bistro that has mixed greens, avocado, cherry tomatoes, pistachios, French soft goat cheese on a kind of like a baguette toast, also walnuts and real bacon bits. It was s erved with a trio of their Signature dressings (Sundried tomatoes, Aged Balsamic, fresh herbs). I don’t think I have ever tried a salad, so rich and delicious. I cannot wait to have it again. Then I had a cold sandwich called Gauroche on a French baguette. Also, unbelievable. And to finish on a high note, I had the crème brûlée which was mouthwatering. I came home and could not stop talking about it so my mother-in-law is going to take a friend over there next week to try it for herself. I know she’s gonna love it. I wish Escargot Bistro the best. You deserve it.

Don't walk, run; the service and the food are excellent!

The food is amazing. Service has a French feel the waiter is always polite as proper. The can go there dressed up or just come as you are. The Bistro has a Paris feel with French music. It’s not a place you will be able to eat at fast. The food comes out fresh and you are in No rush to leave. It’s a full 5 course experience.

Went there for lunch and highly recommend. Family run place with mom running the kitchen and Matisse, the son, working the front of the intimate dining room (capacity 36 people). The family bought the restaurant a year ago and kept the name. Menu is what you would expect from a French bistro. A number of daily specials are offered—I had the leek and bacon quiche special after starting with pate maison—both were excellent. My friend had one of about six crepes that were on the menu—also delicious and a generous portion. I had the dessert special that was homemade—a pear dessert similar to flan (I forget the French name)—it was extraordinary and I can’t wait to have again. Wine list is sufficient and affordable. Can’t wait to go back again, and I rate it an enthusiastic five stars.

The proprietors of this delightful French bistro focuses on quality ingredients for the food menu. Escargot is the exceptional choice food for this place. There are many other french food selections as well. The separation of the Lunch and Dinner indicates the ingredients and menu food items are extremely important to prepare for each day. Reservations are encouraged because it only has limited tables and it is important to understand the preparation time of such quality food items will require the chef to take loving care for the details. ,It's not fast food. However, the wait is worth every bite. The bistro is clean, safe and joyful. You will want to return again and again! Closed on Monday and Tuesday. Highly recommended that you experience this jewel of a French bistro. Bon appetite!

We came here for lunch Sunday on a long layover where we had to switch airports. What a stellar find! We had mussels and frites, eggs Florentine, a savory crepe with béchamel and a homemade French pear cake for dessert that shined beautifully. Best meal we’ve had in a long time. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our lunch was so good we got take out baguette sandwiches to take on our flight for dinner. Highly recommend!

Food is phenomenal and the staff is very friendly. Our escargot appetizers were enjoyable, but the French onion soup was arguably the best I ever had. It wasn't smothered in cheese but rather had a rich dark broth, which was amazing. Entrees were also very good, but the apple tart for dessert along with a cappuccino was the perfect way to end the night.

Hospitality at it's worst. At 2:30 the hostess refused to sit us because restaurant closes at 3. It's lunch! At worse they would have to wait until 3:15 for us to finish. Needless to say we are not coming back. Your hostess never offered an option of half hour lunch. Is she not being truthful and trying to keep her job? And nowhere in the world (28 countries, 35 states) were we ever turned away with half hour before closing.

New owners are wonderful. They choose products with care and get out of their way for authenticity and quality. Bravo for making your restaurant we can't wait to come to with the same excitement. A must go.

It's a very small restaurant, 38 people maximum occupancy. It's in the corner of a strip mall that I've passed a hundred times and never really paid any attention to. The atmosphere is quiet, intimate and pleasant. The service is excellent. The food is to die for. It's sort of country French cuisine. They only serve beer and wine. The wine list gives you a nice selection. The servings are substantial. I first heard about this place on Check Please South Florida on PBS. I will be coming again.

Have not visited this restaurant since before the pandemic and was surprised to learn that the original owners had retired. The new owners are from the Aux en Provence area of France and brought their cooking skills from there as well. What a treat! The restaurant has an appealing new look and a menu to match. The chef makes frequent visits from the kitchen to make sure everything is perfect. His wife makes all of the fabulous desserts herself. A true dining joy! Can't wait to return for dinner.

Went here for lunch. Everything we ordered was outstanding. I had Paté and asked to substitute the toast for something soft. They served it with a soft country bread. Wonderful. My wife had fish with a lemon-butter reduction. Outstanding. Can't go wrong here if you want authentic French cuisine.

I saw the restaurant on CHECK PLEASE in South Florida. Four of us had a great experience there. The service was attentive and all meal selections was well prepared, presented and served. We will return.

This is our 3-rd time at this restaurant. Ordered different dishes every time, and love it!!!. This family owned and run place is very friendly, and not pretentious for sure! Best French food by far!!! See you again soon.

We decided to try this hidden gem with new owners (since May). For starters we savored the classic Escargot Tradition, simply served tender escargot sizzling in butter, garlic, and parsley and accompanied with toasted baguette; Mille Feuilles d’Escargots: escargots & mushrooms in a delicate garlic and butter sauce nestled in a homemade puff pastry. Our friends enjoyed a 1/2 duck confit in a fragrant and flavorful orange sauce; we tried both fish offerings of the day: the fresh yellowtail snapper with garlic and butter; and a fresh sole with a light creamy lemon and caper sauce; and pan seared duck liver on a bed of red wine and raspberry vinegar sauce flavored accompanied with apples and fresh grapes sautéed in brandy. Our main dishes were served with a delicate cauliflower “soufflé”. For dessert the crêpe Suzette was flambéed at the table, and the strawberry crêpe arrived with a tureen of hot chocolate sauce decadently poured over top. The greater Fort Lauderdale area has had some noteworthy places (Le Cordon Bleu, La Vielle Maison, Le Dome, Left Bank) to savor French classic and country cuisine but over the years they have all gone. Happy to report that this small charming and talented family from Aix-en-Provence: expert chef Angelique, her husband Stéphane, and son Matisse, have hit it out of the ballpark! Highly recommend and reservations are necessary to secure a seat at a table in this quaint and intimate corner of a small shopping plaza.

Absolutely amazing! Totally recommended! We had a great dinner with appetizers, main, and dessert because we couldn't stop tasting every option. We'll be there again soon!

My friend and I went for our birthdays. The food was very disappointing. Would not recommend.

An outstanding dining experience. We are putting it in our rotation of favorite restaurants in South Florida. Reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. One of the best and most creative desserts we have ever had. Reservations strongly advised. Atmosphere definitely not over the top.

Under new management but one chef stayed. New chef is the new owner and was absolutely amazing!!!! Can't recommend enough.
