Enjoyed a quiet lunch on a sunny day with warm rays gracing our table through the big windows while we took in an elevated view down Oak Street. Tasty burger and truffle fries was balanced out nicely with a Caesar salad and side of absolutely delectable shrimp (🔥🔥🔥). The Fig & Olive signature cocktail lived up to its eponymous title (I didn’t want to out it down). Excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere to boot! Worth visiting again 🥂

Came here for dinner with friends and made a reservation ahead of time. You have to take the elevators up to the dining room and it isn’t super clear from when you enter the building. Dinner has option of a set menu or ordering what you want. You can sit either in the lounge area or at the dining area - we chose the lounge since you have a nice view of the street and can look out when you want. We had the Burrata, Tuna Crudo, Octopus, Lamb and Paella and it was all delicious. The paella was on the spicy side though. For dessert we had the Lemon & Olive Oil Cake and it was tasty. The dining area can be quite loud bc of background music and also all the tables around ya talking loudly, so be prepared to speak at a higher volume. The servers were friendly and kept coming to fill up our waters without needing to ask them. Overall the food portions were not huge but if you order to share everyone in a small group can definitely try out everything.

Staff was wonderful, professional and knowledgable about the specials and off menu items. The ambience invites nature in, creating an elegant and relaxing atmosphere. I would suggest more spacing between the tables, too close together imo. Crostini was interesting, wine pairing excellent, and my steak was cooked on point. Potato with roasted red pepper was misding something, very bland and tasteless. But, on the whole a good dining experience.

I had an AMAZING time at Fig & Olive's happy hour this week. First off, the bright and airy décor is gorgeous. Garvey, who had impeccable customer service, made the right suggestions food wise (try the mushroom croquettes, you won't be disappointed) and made me the most perfect cocktail from the happy hour menu. He was so swift and kind. Patrick also made my experience a pleasurable one; he provided great service and conversation when Garvey had to step away for business reasons. I truly enjoyed my experience and it will not be my last!

Probably the worst meal I’ve had in Chicago. Very mediocre food, terrible service. Crostinis were bread with small smears, I could have made in my kitchen. Salads were covered in cheese and dressing. We ordered drinks and apps- no drinks came and apps were served with the meals- Which were all below average at best. When I complained to the manager, he only offered to be our server when we return for another meal. Why would I ever pay to return?

We had a very nice lunch here today. The food was very good. I had a hamburger, my wife had a salmon burger, and my son had the salmon salad which came with blackened shrimp. We had the Cristini Trio appetizers and then we shared a cheesecake for dessert with caramel and passionfruit sauce. Always very well. I’m a little surprised that it wasn’t crowded for lunch. There weren’t many people there. I wonder why? I never see this place advertised. I think maybe they should. The food is great.

This spot offers a super happy hour menu of well made bargain drinks and tasty food items. The restaurant itself is an attractive two story space upstairs of 104 E Oak St, near the preserved Esquire movie theater marquee. Happy hour is only available at the bar, which is quite large and attractive.

Came for dinner as it was an option in the Gold Coast with immediate reservations. The food was very good, unique and interesting and well executed. Would recommend the dinner special which was a starter, entree and dessert for very reasonable price. Few odd things the restaurant was empty and we were sat directly next to another table and cannot split a bill three ways which is hard for business travelers.

I went in for cocktails (the F&O) and mocktails (the au jardin). Both delicious. I’m excited to return to try the food. We had to go up the back door due to tech elevator maintenance and I thought the little tablecloth on the boxes was funny.

We had a reservation for brunch and showed up on time. There were 6 of us in our group and we were seated on the third floor. When we looked at the menu, we didn’t like what was on it for brunch. We asked if we could see the Dinner menu and were told they aren’t serving dinner so we cannot order dinner. Then we asked how much longer we would need to wait if we wanted to order dinner and the answer was an hour. So we asked for appetizers and ordered Labneh and Baba Ghanoush. By the time the apps were brought out and we finished them, it was close to an hour and we asked if we could order dinner now. The server seemed reluctant to let us order dinner for some reason. Eventually, we were allowed to order dinner. The appetizers were great, so we were really looking forward to dinner. The people who brought out the apps were very friendly and nice, however, the person serving our table was absolutely terrible and had the worst attitude, no smile, and seemed like they hated their job. This person should not be in a customer facing role in a nice higher end restaurant, they are the face of the restaurant and completely killed the mood. A few of us ordered the Amalfi seafood risotto and it was fantastic. One person ordered the Moroccan spiced salmon and they really liked it. Two others ordered the lamb top sirloin and Free range brick chicken and they also really liked their food. The only reason I’m giving this restaurant a 4 star instead of 5 star is specifically the experience we had with the server. Frankly, I should have given a 10% tip or less for their terrible service but I didn’t do that. The food was very good but I’m not sure I’d go back again because the bill was $235 and after the tip it was $280 with extremely terrible service. When we were leaving the server was sitting by the elevator, clearly saw us leaving and didn’t have a single thing to say, not even a simple thank you for coming. To sum up my experience, the food was great and the server behaved as if they gave us a free meal and did us a favor by allowing us to eat there.

The place was packed at that time so it's totally understandable. My advice is to go with a group and try as much as you can. Even though it's in the Gold Coast and a very beautiful space, the staff is great and not an ounce pretentious.

A mixed experience, and split decision. Located at two floors, the lower main floor has a lovely welcoming vibe centered around the main bar. The upper, where we dined, displayed all characteristics of a step sister’s appendix. No chill (just to be clear). Music too laid and air con too agressive. Tip: stay on the main floor. Had family style assortment of starters, all good a few excelled. Around the table entrés were up and down, from excellent lamb to over cooked salmon. And I always wonder why someone bother to ask how I want my stake, when medium is the only option for the chef. A small selection of wines by the glass - the reds were served much too warm for a cold Scandinavian like me. Service was patchy, at times borderline pathetic, but no one got hurt.

A great restaurant located at Oak St. The decor, atmosphere and ambiance were really spot on. The music is good and just plays in the background, enough so you can hear it and talk normally at the same time. The staff is extremely attentive and very helpful with recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavors and textures, the wild mushroom croquettes were to die for, highly recommend. ATMOSPHERE: It is cute and has a nice vibe, but the seats are uncomfortable. FOOD: Not bad. The Salmon was good, it just needed more seasoning. The vegan tacos were Fantastic. They were very flavorful. I didn't like the mushroom croquettes at all. It had a mushy texture. SERVICE: Here is where we had the issue. Let me start by saying the waitress was really nice and attentive. It is time to pay our bill and we decided to pay using RESY. We all paid for what we had and of course tipped, some with our card and some with cash. The GM is where we had the issue. She comes over to our table to introduce herself and ask about service and we all praised our waitress and spoke about the food. The GM then goes on to say "Well the reason I came over here was to see how the service was because there was a LOW TIP. Generally when that happens I think the service is bad." We immediately said "NO, we tipped on card and we have cash here that we want to hand to our waitress" The GM let out a sigh of relief and gave us some free crostini cards. The audacity....smh. We didn't have to tip AT ALL seeing that it is not required by law. That rubbed us all the wrong way.

Terrible service. The waitress Nahzy completely ruined the otherwise nice experience at Fig & Olive. She completely ignored our party of four ever since we sat down. After asking to pay multiple times because someone in the party had a flight coming up, she completely dismissed us and said "you already paid online" and walked away. We were left very confused as no one paid. We proceeded to having to ask the hostess what is going on and were left to wait in the middle of the restaurant. Nahzy still was no where to be found. After finally finding her the entire party was up and in disbelief. We asked to pay and she still was in confusion and stating that we already paid online. Thankfully we are honest people and had to convince her no one has paid. After minutes being wasted in the conversation she finally checked and saw we didn't pay. Never have I ever experienced such a high level of carelessness and dismay. We entered the restaurant in high spirits and excitement, and left in complete confusion. I would never come back and it is unfortunate. What a waste of a nice location no wonder it was completely empty during brunch.

It's a sanctuary for weary shoppers and locals alike, offering an escape from the hectic pace of city life. The restaurant's attention to detail is impeccable. Whether you're savoring a craft cocktail on the Rosé Terrace or indulging in an elegant dining experience in the Provence Room, every corner exudes sophistication and charm. Food was great, however service was very bad from the moment of entry. First, we had to wait 20 minutes to check in, which is fine, except it was crowded and not well handled. For several minutes no one would be at the host desk. Second, we had a party of 4 and were seated at a table of 6. It took 3 requests (over 30 minutes) to clear the other plate settings. Finally, we ordered our food and the “courses” all came at the same time. The food was delicious, however, the overall service did not even meet MINIMUM expectations for a restaurant of this cost point. Yes it was restaurant week, however, there were several tables empty in our area and only 1 waiter. Very understaffed and unorganized. We might come back to sit at the bar, however, many things need to be improved for us to recommend this to our friends and business colleagues. Note that our waiter tried his best and I don’t fault him. Rather, management needs to fix the issues.

Went for restaurant week. We also ordered the Crostini & dessert which were delicious. The food was excellent which I am aware of since I have dined at the NY location. My only not so great was the service. Perhaps they were short staffed. We had to flag down the server for eating utensils. Also a general lack of wine knowledge from the waitstaff. I asked for the French Sauvignon Blanc. What they served me was the French Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre which was $24 a glass vs the Sauvignon Blanc that was not from Sancerre which was $16 a glass. If they knew wine they would be familiar with Sancerre or would have asked me which one? Instead they chose the more expensive glass of wine. I paid for it bc it was delicious yet felt slightly taken advantage of.

Me and 2 friends went for dinner for restaurant week and had high hopes. We got there a little early so we sat at the bar. When we said hi to the bartender and asked him how he's doing, as in a greeting, he responded with how tired he was. Ok... The chairs at the bar had no padding left, so uncomfortable, and were wobbly. The drinks, however, were lovely and very unique. We got seated and ordered the crostini app(very delicious, but was a $12 upcharge from the pre fixe) and fries(which came out lukewarm, at best. We ordered 2 chickpea tacos and a salad for our starters, the chicken for 2 of us and the steak for the third. The assistant manager, Joe, came by and said he's so sorry, but they're out of the steak so he'd take that off and "take care of us" for the mishap. We ate the rest of our dinner and got our desserts and left. We looked at the receipt and the steak(which was an $8 increase from the prefixe was still on there). We got that removed afterwards. We woke up the next day realizing we never received the 1st courses of our meals...all 3 of us. We attempted to call to rectify the situation and spoke with Joe who said he had to "talk with the other manager to not step on any toes(exact words)" after getting defensive and saying "well I took off the steak from the bill," as if that was a favor, as he should have since we had to order something else cuz they were out of steak! He never called us back, so we tried again the next day and they kept giving us the run around saying we can call him directly or that he would call us back...never did...after 2 calls in the span of 2 days. So at this point, we are expecting no response. He was so rude to us and our friend was visiting from out of town. We are so sad she had to have that experience for all of our 1st time there. Bad management and staff can truly spoil a location.

Our reservation was at 8pm- dinner ended at 11:22pm- so disappointed. We had a group of six, seating was beautiful for we were right by the window. The server was attentive, however very slow. We ordered drinks & received them a half hour later. We did the restaurant week menu for the table and ordered extras off the main menu. Appetizers included: Octopus, Tuna Meatballs, Burrata Di Bufala, Wild Mushroom Croquettes, Riviera Crostinis, Baby Arigula Salad & Yellow Tuna Tarare. The best appetizers were the Croquettes and Tarare. Next came dessert- oh wait the table did not receive their main entrees (that was at 10:07pm). Main entrees served to the table were barely warm/cold. Entrees included: Moroccan-Spiced Salmon, Autumn Squash Risotto, Free Range Brick Chicken & Peppercorn Crusted Skirt Steak. Favorite of the entrees was the Risotto. The bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was served to us warm. The server was informed of the cold food and warm wine- offered us cheesecake and port. We were told the cheesecake was not on the menu- that was the best dessert. The other two desserts ordered were the lemon olive oil cake (very dry) and the seasonal sorbet which was good. Unfortunately for the price the total experience was not worth it. We will not be returning anytime soon. Improvements needed service (as in execution of orders), hot food to be served and cold white wine. Company was great, but we were not expecting the three and a half hour dinner.

Honestly the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Chicago. The food was gross. I went here on a first date and my date kept apologizing he picked such a gross place. We got the 3 different crustinis, fries which were on accident by staff but the only good thing we had, seafood paella and mushroom croquettes. The onion crustini was the grossest thing I’ve ever had at a Chicago restaurant. My date and I both spit it out. Whoever the chef is that picked this fire him. The seafood paella was cold and tasted chewy and frozen. And the mushroom croquettes were drenched in too much truffle. Our server was nice and we didn’t wanna blame him for the food so we just left asap. I’m sorry I really never complain about food like this but it was so disappointing for a restaurant we have heard nothing but good things about. I’m not sure who management is but someone needs to get a grip on this place

The manager gave us a bottle of wine to apologize for all these mess. We couldn’t finish it so we brought it back with us. After five minutes they called us and told we need to return the bottle or she’s gonna get fired. What the actual heck?

Have been here in total about 3 times, No major complaints on the food or drinks. The 3 stars are for the employees especially the hosts who first greet you before showing you and your guests to your table. There have been times where the host’s demeanor were too stern, borderline unfriendly. Like putting on a fake smile with a tense facial expression to disguise it.Just passive aggressive. I would say of my 3 times dining at this establishment, only 1 time was the customer service commendable. Also one time ordering the steak, I had an experience where it was kind of tough, when I ordered medium rare, and only the sauce helped save it.Have ordered the chef speciality a few times and have liked every dish so no complaints.Atomosphere is really nice, bar area is beautiful. However, It’s really just a hit or miss for such a higher end restaurant. Menu changes seasonally. They could really work on their customer service.

Comfort and Elegance. The design of Fig and Olive is so pleasing. Service is outstanding. Craft cocktails. Fine food. This is a staple for us and we have never been disappointed.

Our server was inattentive, taking a really long time to take drink orders after we sat down. We weren’t offered bread service like some other tables. Once the food arrived it was room temperature, and the risotto was undercooked. By the time the server came back we were already finished and ready to go. Lobster spaghetti was good. My cocktail had a salted rim when it was probably supposed to be sugared (a sidecar) but it was tasty. Overall a very underwhelming experience.

Alex provided friendly and professional service. The food and cocktails were absolutely delicious. This is our 3rd Christmas event at F&O. We will definitely return again. Recommend the F&O cocktail, F&O salad, Parmesan fries, sweet potato flatbread and apple crostini.

Just wasn’t really worth the price. Ran into some weird things like happy hour…we arrived early and wanted to get a drink for happy hour at the bar. By the time someone came over for our drink order, our table was ready. Still tried to do order off the happy hour menu at our table but the said “you can only order off the happy hour menu at the bar”. Doesn’t really make sense at all.

A great place for a leisurely catch-up lunch with a friend. Our server provided detailed guidance to accommodate a serious allergy and had excellent suggestions for sharing some appetizers (loved the burratta). The staff kept our drinks filled and checked on us appropriately but did not interrupt or rush us. Lovely ambience. A new favorite in Chicago. Can't wait to return for dinner!

Service was good, ambience not good at all - we had a brunch at around 2pm - the restaursnt has always been very pleasant but this time it was dark, no Christmas decorations at all (went Dec 19), looked sad, there were chairs and other furniture stored around us. Food was not good at all. It is a pity because this is one of my favorite restaurants and it was a big dissapointment this time.

I encountered significant issues with the customer service at this establishment, particularly with the front-of-house staff. Their approach was noticeably discourteous and unprofessional. Additionally, the quality of the food did not meet expectations, as it appeared to be pre-frozen. Meaning, we were served an appetizer that was still frozen. This combination of poor service and subpar cuisine compelled me to share my experience. Management reached out. I shared above with them as well. Beautiful restaurant but it needs work.

Service was very bad. The waiters served visitors and ate at the same time . I had never seen anything like this and was shocked. Coffee was served in dirty cups. I did not expect this from this restaurant.

We asked to sit at a specific table, they said sure then when it came to seating us they forgot and sat us else where. They were slow in bringing some items out. They dress and act like top notch servers. But lack the execution. Too bad it really is a beautiful place. And they did nothing after being told it was a birthday. Or offer any cool desserts or snacks.

It was a quieter evening on a Monday night eating an early dinner. We have been here a number of times while visiting Chicago. We love this place. Our server was excellent. The host kept checking in as well. The food is creatively put together and good. I had the squash risotto. I think my husband had a seafood paella. I always seem to pass the entrance by. It’s a small foyer to an elevator up to the second floor off of Oak street. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Fig & Olive is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious cocktails and food. Their menu options are plentiful, making it an excellent choice for lunch or dinner. I first visited the New York location and was blown away by the experience. I'm so happy that we now have one in Chicago. I highly recommend it.

The servers were all working very hard, but each time I have been here for lunch or brunch, there is inadequate staffing for the number of guests. Servers are slow to arrive at the table to even get water to the table, meals are slow to arrive, other guests are also clearly frustrated. Hire more people!

I was there about a month ago for dinner with work colleagues - we are all foreigners. Firstly, we had a table booked but we had to wait in the bar for 30min to be seated. Our waitress was rude and arrogant. We ordered starters and mains to share, and when the mains arrived we asked if the steak could be sliced for us (since we’re sharing!). The response from the waitress and runner was absolutely shocking - they immediately said “absolutely not, the chef refuses” and then laughed about it between each other (that was the most shocking part for me). I don’t think we asked for anything outrageous?!! Will NEVER return. I hope google readers will find this review insightful, spare your appetite for something better.

Food was great with a lovely ambience. However, portion size was extremely small for the shared plates. Our waitress was very rude after we originally ordered 5 shared plates and after seeing the portion size asked to order more food. We were sternly reminded that the chef prefers all food is ordered only once. Not a pleasant encounter with the waitress.

Wonderful place to go during the holidays. The restaurant is located in a prime location and the food is excellent. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed a wonderful meal.
