This place used to be so good. I hadn’t had a chance to eat here since they reopened and boy I was very disappointed. My husband and I waited for 45 minutes after ordering some sandwiches and never got our food. It wasn’t busy or anything. Literally wasted my night. By the time we left we couldn’t go somewhere else because it was too late.

Update 8/24 - only open 4 days a week. Mainly catering to the bar crowd, food is not the priority. Out of the past 10 attempts to eat here they were open 2 times. 1 of the 2 times we waited on a table for 15 minutes, half of the tables in the non bar side were empty upon our arrival. Don't waste your time coming for lunch. it really seems as if they are trying to close, again. I've given up on trying to eat here. Previous review - I've been eating here for years, the food is always great. The service is exceptional. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu.

Went in with 7 of us and they could not seat us together. They tried to put us at separate tables in the bar area when there were many open tables on the other half that they could put together. We decided to leave and the male host gave a “hooray” dance. Took our $300 to sixth and vine :)

Ive never seen a stupider host. It was a grown man who had no idea what he was doing. 80% empty and couldnt find a table for us. Was super happy when we left. He is truly the most incompetent person i have ever seen.

Love this place! I had my first drink for my 21st birthday here, and the bartender was extremely nice and helpful picking drinks for me. Now years later they still have great service and great food. The atmosphere is always great too, never too rowdy or quiet.

When I tell you that these drink specials are out of this world!!!! This easily has become our go-to spot for the food and reasonable prices and friendly staff

Paid for two hour parking to go here only to find out they're closed July 4th-6th and never updated the Google page to say so.

Great food, great beer, great service and staff, great atmosphere. An essential spot. Fish and chips is the best outside of the UK. The stew and corned beef is excellent. I've heard good things about the tenders. And there's tons of different beers on tap and liquor pours.

I have lived in Winston and never got to eat at the legendary Finnigans Wake. The fish and chips chefs kiss. I definitely can not wait to go back.

The corned beef and cabbage was excellent. We ate there on a Thursday with some friends. Our waiter was wonderful, kept our drinks full, and let us sit and chat with our friends well after our meal.

I haven't been here before but my friend has been here numerous times, so I had a little bit of an expectation for Finnigan's to live up to. I couldn't have been more disappointed with my food specifically. Service was great, we came in to eat before the Bill Burr show at the coliseum, bar/restaurant has a good vibe. Got some chicken wings as an appetizer and those were fantastic, really delicious and a great sauce. Great location for this place too. I ordered the fish and chips since I have never eaten Irish food, so I didn't know what to expect and thought this would be a safe bet. I couldn't have been more wrong, wish I would have taken pics, but oh well. First my fish of the fish and chips was one HUGE chunk of 3 pieces of fish. Appears as if 3 pieces was frozen together, dredged together, fried together. It was a big, messy, greasy, tasteless disaster. The chips were actually pretty good, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Overall I can't say I'd be back. I'm not a big drinker so places like this just don't draw me in, especially now after eating a very bad meal.

I came here to say on a Saturday night around 7:30pm with a group of 3. We sat at the bar because we only came to get a breakfast shot as we were bar hopping. They do have a deal for the breakfast shot on Saturdays. We paid extra to include the bacon which is important when having a breakfast shot. The bartender filled our shots all the way. I also ordered a starburst flavored mixed drink and could not finish it.

Best lamb burger ever Probably one of the better places in winston for a great vibes and amazing food Drinks are great as well Lots of local and international brews Definitely recommend this spot to any out of town visitor Guess we ads considered locals and it always lifts the spirit

The Ron's fried chicken was very delicious. Rootbeery was overpriced, and the scotch egg was not good at all. Shepherds pie has peas in it.

Came on 3/16/24 small menu and everything we had from scotch eggs to the Ruben's were on point. Waitress Anna was amazing. Always have good experiences here but today was exceptional!

They seemed understaffed. Lots of empty tables, but a long wait. Not much in the way of decor in the dining area, so not all that much of an atmosphere. The food was good. Fish and chips were a decent sized portion, Sheppards pie was a bit on the small side. Overall not the best Irish pub we've been too, but good enough to where we might go back if we are in the area again.

I was super happy for them to be open again! We go here every year, until the lockdown, and they didn't open back up until this year (I think). We've always loved the service, atmosphere, food and the beer selection. Of course we weren't disappointed! Highly recommend!

We had the absolute best time here during our visit to Winston Salem! This place was recommended to us by a couple locals, and it did not disappoint! Our bartender, Sam, was so much fun and had the best personality….. made fantastic drinks also!

The place was nice. Our server anna was very pleasant. I was surprised it was so empty on a Saturday afternoon, but i guess we stopped in at an off time. The food was good. My wife loved her scotch eggs and chips. I got a turkey wrap and fries. It is a very cool place to stop in for a quick meal with friendly service.

Wouldn't normally order a salad at an Irish pub, but it was worth every penny, and the bar keep was awesome.

Just dined here tonight and had the best experience! Tart (Ashley) on the bar made an INCREDIBLE pumpkin pie Martini, my husband stole two sips from me! Our food was the best it’s tasted in a while (I’ve been eating here since 2016) and our server Rachel was lovely and tentative. 10/10

Loved my visit to Finnigan's - very impressed with the array of beer and whiskey selections, and the lamb & beef burger with bleu cheese was outstanding. No one should leave here hungry, the portions are generous - please enjoy my "finished" burger & fries photo!

This restaurant by far exceeded my expectations. Literally every dish I tried was phenomenal. I had the corned beef and cabbage but tried some of everybody's dish at the table and theirs were amazing, too. I haven't enjoyed a dish from a restaurant this much in a long time! The beer selection is great, the ambiance was just as you'd expect from an Irish pub in the afternoon. The staff was friendly and the server had a great smile. The ONLY complaint I had was with the time it took to get items we would ask for from the server, but it looked like he may have been the only one serving. It wasn't a big deal because we weren't in any hurry. If you're in downtown Winstom Salem, this is a restaurant destination you. must try.

I got the shepherds pie with mac and cheese and I couldn’t tell you which one I loved more. Both were phenomenal. The cheeses used in the mac were not overwhelming but still very flavorful. The mashed potatoes on the shepherds pie were soft and everything just went really well together. We were seated quickly, even though it was a busy Saturday, and the service was good. Everything on the menu seemed really appealing, so I will definitely be returning. It will be hard to choose something other than the shepherds pie though since it was so delicious

It's a little different since they lost their liquor license. The food is still good, and the service is faster! But there's no more alcohol.

Perfect Irish styled pub right in the arts district. The atmosphere is excellent, staff is super friendly, and the food was delicious. They offer pub classics like fish and chips, while also offering UK/Irish dishes like sheppard's pie and guiness stew. Highly recommend a visit and my wife and I will definitely be coming back.

Finnigan's Wake is a lovely Irish pub on Trade Street. It's a beautiful place, inside and out, and yes, very Irish. I've been once that I received bad service, but otherwise I've had good experiences. The food is great, and I love that they are vegetarian-friendly! Pubs aren't always great for veggies, but this one is. They offer gluten-free options as well. And of course, there are numerous drink options.

First time customer on July 15. Fantastic food and nice drink selection. Chicken sandwich with Granny Smith apples...what!? It was amazing!! Our waitress was great and made sure everything was perfect. We'll certainly be back soon but have already recommended it to several folks in the area. Fantastic; Keep it up!

I cannot possibly express how thrilled I am to have this place back. It's back and better than ever (which I wouldn't have thought possible, given how darn-near-perfect it was to start with)! Pros: truly phenomenal food, including vegetarian options out the wazoo, great service from folx who seem to enjoy their jobs, fantastic beer selection and knowledgeable bartenders, pub atmosphere that is somehow both spacious and cozy. It just feels like home! The employees are friendly in a totally-genuine, laid-back way, not in that fake-smile-because-I-need-the-tips-to-live kind of way. (But definitely tip generously, because this is still the USA, and these folx deserve it.) Cons: Always SO hard for me to decide what to get, because *everything* I've ever had here knocks my socks off. Pro-to-the-con: The staff is great at helping with recommendations, and if you want to try multiple of their millions of draft beers, you can get a four-beer flight. Actual con: Parking can be a bit fiddly. The city farmed out the nearest lot to some expensive pay-to-park conglomerate in Florida or some nonsense, so be aware of that if you use the lot. Not the restaurant's fault, though. I can generally find parking on the street within a reasonable distance. Anytime I'm eating out with someone in Winston, I leap at the chance to go to Finnigan's Wake. Seriously, run, don't walk. This is my review from YEEEEEEARS ago, and as you can see, they've been consistent: Great beer selection, great food. They're wonderfully accommodating to dietary restrictions. Bartenders and servers are super. The customers, I've found, treat you like family; a real neighborhood pub. Absolutely delightful.

Omnivores: plenty of options on the menu including fish & chips as well as Guinness stew. Vegetarians: if you consume cheese and/or eggs, there are a handful of options. If you're vegan / plant-based: there are only 3 options on the menu currently. A sweet potato bowl, a garden burger (with limited condiments), and a salad (without protein). Our server was attentive while at the table (beer tastings and recommendations); however, on a while we didn't see them much throughout the meal. Felt a bit slow and absent.

They didn't have the exact ingredients for a drink I wanted but when I told Sara what it was she mixed it to taste exact. Great mixology skills Sara 😁 Love the Ruben also. Will be back for sure

First time here. Staff, our waitress specifically, was outstanding - attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Even during peak hours (Friday 630p), our food came out super fast and was spot on. Loved the selection of items and the flavors were amazing. 10/10!

This place is awesome. I remember coming there before they shut down and got the fried chicken and it was the best fried chicken I'd ever had. More recently I've come here a couple of times with friends and had an awesome experiences then, too. The wings are always perfect, and they always seem to have a great deal going on a great pitcher of beer. I like some of the other bars downtown but honestly if I'm hungry, I go to finnigans wake, and if I'm looking to have great beer and well made drinks, well I'd also go to finnigans wake, they're the best of both worlds and the service is always great. Sam was super friendly and helpful

most authentic Irish pub we've found in a long time. The staff was extremely helpful and patient. will definitely be saving under favorites for next time we're in town. only issue anyone has was the food needed a little more salt. still tested good and GREAT beer selection for those of us that don't do IPAs.

Incredible staff! Sarah and Sam are the best bartenders around. Don’t sleep on the chicken wings, either. Chill atmosphere, good vibes and excellent service all around. 10/10 would recommend!

Would give 5 stars on but it took a long time (30 minutes roughly) to get our food when it wasnt busy. Food was very good, server checked in the appropriate amount of times. Great portions for price, tasted fresh. Enjoyed the ambiance. May I suggest the Bangers and Mash?

Had an amazing experience sitting out on the patio. Had a fantastic server who was very attentive and generous with our dog! She brought him a bowl of water and a WHOLE pitcher of ice (his favorite). Food was delicious. We had the Mac & Cheese bowl with Buffalo chicken and corned beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. Server recommended the curry sauce for the fries and it was SO GOOD.

So glad they reopened! Great place to relax and enjoy a meal!!

Fantastic food and $2 yuenglings on Saturdays. What's not to like? This is a great spot to get some high class bar food and nice reasonably priced drinks. We got the Jason's Mac n Cheese with Buffalo chicken and savored every bite! Will definitely return. Protip: get some nice food and drinks here then go across the street to cheesecake by Alex

Amazing pub. The location is perfect, the atmosphere was spot on, and the service and food were amazing. Prices are on point too! I recommend the fish and chips. The “small” is enough to give your cardiologist a heart attack and the large…go buy some flushable wipes and Lipitor before you arrive. Highly recommend. 6 stars if I could.

This was my second visit to Finnigan's. Our server was attentive and prompt. The food was great! I had the Pub mac n cheese and a side salad. The atmosphere is casual and low-key, which is exactly what we needed. Finnigan's also is very reasonably priced. Lots of good reasons to stop by!
