Such a great place! Very clean and Alex is the perfect host. Delicious breakfast. The place is so wonderful. I gave location a 3 because I’m a city girl and this is rural but beautiful! You will not be disappointed!

Friendliest people you'll ever meet. We came up on it accidentally when looking for a place to view the total eclipse. One of the owners was sitting out front and was very welcoming letting us spread out on the lawn for the viewing. We ended up checking out the Lodge and it's beautiful inside... with the "Million Dollar View" of Mount Katahdin being a bonus . Everyone we talked to raved about the service and the quality of the food. We all plan on making it a destination in the future.

What a Amazing view! Really love it. Just stayed my room and watched whole sunset, very enjoyable. Big yard and wild flowers all over, I picked some to my room, wonderful smell. Breakfast was so good and so surprising, it’s a beautiful garden with bright sunshine outside big windows, breakfast room was full of sunshine also. I can see big forests mountains from my window, listening birds and insects twittering. Nice memories.

Alex did a great job preparing us for our stay and the surrounding area. Wonderful homelike atmosphere. Definitely recommend and would stay here if we’re in the area again.

We stayed there last week while visiting family. The new owners have done a great job. The food is great, rooms are clean and comfortable and they have added a/c to the rooms. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it!!

Incredible experience! When we needed last minute lodging that would accommodate our two large dogs, they made space for us even though they were in the middle of hosting a large party. We felt completely at home. They treated us like family but we also had complete privacy. The lodge is beautiful and immaculate. The grounds are stunning and the view is one of the best in this part of Maine. They provide breakfast every morning and the pancakes were some of the best we’ve ever had. We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

We hosted a large gathering (40+) on a Saturday from 12 noon to 3pm and everything was simply wonderful. The food was 5 stars, truly exceptional. Every item we selected was perfectly done. We had such great service, with the attention to detail. This is a great location, and all our guests commented how much they enjoyed the event.

I recently had the sincere pleasure of staying at the First Settler’s Lodge with family and I was absolutely impressed with the beauty of the entire lodge and surrounding property, the very clean and comfortable rooms, outstanding service and attention to every conceivable detail to make guests as happy as possible! The rooms are all uniquely decorated, which makes it even more special and the views from the rooms are all incredibly beautiful. Alex and her husband do such an excellent job at preparing all the delicious meals and keeping the lodge impeccably clean and they truly went above and beyond to make our stay extra special and meaningful. I can’t express my sincere appreciation enough for all they did to make our family gathering a true blessing filled with wonderful memories! They even agreed to serve dinner for us on a night when they normally would have been closed for dinner and all of our food was delicious and very reasonably priced! The breakfasts are amazing as well and included in your room rate, which are a treat also! They essentially work around the clock to meet the needs of all their guests and they do it with kindness and sincerity! I travel frequently, including international travel and rarely do I receive service like we received at the First Settler’s Lodge. It might be a bit out of the way, but I can promise it is worth the drive and it will be one of your best experiences you will have at any lodging! I give it my highest recommendation and I look forward to staying there again soon! It is truly a hidden gem and Alex and her husband deserve to be commended for their hard work and commitment to excellence in all they do! Thank you again for an outstanding stay!

This lodge was the ideal picturesque piece of Maine. This place is exactly what a family run business should be like. Made us feel like family. The room was perfect for a huge family, (9 bed rooms are hard to come by) the views were exceptional. Plus, we got to see our first Moose!

Fantastic views! The lodge sits on a hill with panoramic views of the countryside. Facilities are well kept and the dinner was delicious.

I had the salmon and it was amazing! Alex took care of our party of 16 and everyone was raving about the food. The ambience and views were absolutely stunning. This was a truly special experience.

Our trip for our family reunion was a huge success! The lodge is absolutely beautiful, the views are awe-inspiring, the rooms are so well decorated,clean and comfortable. The food was sumptuous and freshly prepared by the new owners. All four of them were welcoming to us and their other guests! We've found our new getaway haven.

Awesome facility, staff, and location. The rooms and common rooms are immaculate; the staff bend over backwards to accommodate the guests, and you are one mile from Grand Lake. A perfect vacation dream!! I will be back!!!

We were not a lodge guest but had dinner tonight. Our group had two salmon dishes and two chicken parm. Food was great. Excellent service and owners were very welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was exceptional Will be on our must visit list when we return to Maine next time

One of the most beautiful and peaceful places on Earth! The hospitality of the owners, Denise and Wayne are out of this world, five star food, Lodging, and company! The rooms are clean and the food is to die for. Had a beautiful view of Mt. Katadian from the balcony that will leave you breathless. Five stars is not enough!!!!

We had a wonderful meal there. Our friends are staying there. It's clean, appointed and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Wayne and Denise are the best! Always a pleasure to see and talk with them on our stays. Make sure you get your dinner reservations in early, Denise is an incredible cook and Wayne serves up some tasty adult beverages!

What a great little spot to get away. The owners are fantastic and friendly. Food was amazing ending the day with homemade peach crumble. You feel as if you're at home as soon as you walk in the door. Views are fantastic. On the way out the owner gave us some fresh made whoopie pies which were the best I've ever had. Would definitely go back for a weekend getaway.

Absolutely beautiful lodge and the friendliest of host's. The breakfast and dinner was delicious, broccoli fresh from the garden that could not be beat. Will be back sooner then later .

The name of the Outlook across the street says it all for the area alone. Million Dollar View. and when one turns around standing still and just looks across the street it is continued in the Lodge and grounds. They made Myself and Son feel right at home. and the food was for the area was second to none. looking forward for a reason to come back lol Highly recommend.

unbelievable views, prices, accommodations, food, staff, I was floored and I am very picky, above and beyond my expectations they also allowed our two dogs, and our 35ft Rv, family friendly Clean place, going back in July Dorothy L.I. New York

Awesome owners treat you like family and the location can not be beat. View of Mount Katahdin in the distance from the living room and view of East Grand from the dining room. Excellent winter sports location. Local sled club maintains very good snowmobile trails which pass the lodge. Very quick trip to the lake by sled for ice fishing or just go riding. Food is very good. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Good parking for trailers and sleds.

My husband and I were up for a few days property hunting and this was our home base. The rooms were great, with a comfy sitting area to relax in. The breakfasts were a treat, especially the cinnamon french toast. We were pleased with everything. The hosts were very friendly folks. We will recommend First Settler's to our friends!

It was spectacular, the views of Mount katahdin were unreal absolutely gorgeous. People are so friendly there. This is a little gem of a place.

An excellent place to get away. Located away from hustle and bustle with an excellent view of good ol mother nature.

This gem of a location is your last chance place as headed south out of Aroostook County, Route 1. You will be remiss if you don't stay here. Not only are the beds the most comfortable beds in all on Maine (possibly New England), but the food is truly 5 star quality. Good luck finding a better meal anywhere in the County or Maine! The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They truly bring Maine's unofficial logo "The Way Life Should Be" to life. The surrounding East Grand Lakes are spectacular and the trails are a wonderful getaway from the stresses the rest of the world feels. At the end of the day, you can sit on the deck and watch the sun set over Maine's pride and joy, Mount Katahdin. Visit once and you will surely visit twice.

Quiet and best sleep in long time

Such an excellent experience! The food was superb, with service to match. The gingered carrots were certainly special. My mouth waters just thinking about the steak. It's in such a beautiful area, it's even worth the road trip! They also rent rooms if your trip is that big.

After staying with Denise and Wayne just part of a week during the winter I knew this would be a place I would look forward to returning to. My second winter stay is going just as well as the first with accommodations for my well behaved aging pet also home cooked breakfast and dinner that sure makes a single man appreciate some great home cooking. The rooms are clean and newly renovated great atmosphere. Glad to be able to stay at First Settlers Lodge and hope to return for seasons to come. Located just a mile up from a public boat launch onto East grand lake.

This place is the best, great people, great cook, great lodging, couldnt ask for more the hospitality is unbelievable. 5 stars 2 thumbs up
