The Fitz was cozy (if a bit crowded), with beautiful wildflower arrangements and water carafe waiting for us. Food was amazing, drinks were amazing, service was great, and the "Cheers" sign on our table was a nice touch. I saw other tables had "Happy Anniversary" or "Happy Birthday" signs. The view was also quite nice. We will definitely return!!

The view and location of the restaurant is stunning. Lake Superior is amazing. In terms of the atmosphere it was lovely. The dining area isn’t very large and if it’s packed and it probably will be, it can get pretty loud. We started the dinner with Risotto Fitters and the Brussel Sprout Salad. Both were just okay. I wouldn’t go back for either one. The Brussel sprouts in the salad were cold although roasted and I didn’t enjoy that. The fitters were good, and spiced well (almost Indian spiced I want to say) and both sauces that went with them were good. But again I would try new appetizers next time. For our main meal I made the mistake of ordering the garlic noodles. They were far too salty for my liking and I couldn’t eat the sauce. Although the brisket inside was great and the noodles were cooked correctly. My boyfriend preordered ribs and those were great. The green beans were not seasoned though. For dessert we got raspberry cheesecake and it was hands down the most amazing cheesecake we have ever had. It was so flavorful, and light and airy. We were both so impressed with it. We would go back just to eat that again and again. Next time I go im going to stick to getting their bbq.

Not orientated for random people to come enjoy. Bartender was not kind. Beautiful beach outside!

Upped my review to 5 stars because we had an awesome meal with great service. I think the new smoker is treating them well! Ribs, smoked prime rib, trout cake appetizer, key lime pie all were excellent. Can't say enough good things.

This is a quite spot right off the lake. It has great ambiance, perfect for a lunch date or even a quick bite of very high quality food. We started our lunch with the poutine, we added brisket. It was fantastic! The portion was quite large as by the time our meals came - Nashville Chicken sandwiches with mac and cheese, we were too full to finish our meals! Everything was scrumptious and this will definitely be our spot every time we venture up this way.

Im a food snob so takes a lot to impress me. This place not only has a killer view while eating, the food is amazing. A+. Will be back many times to come

We were able to walk in and get a table without any wait on a Monday evening, which was quite nice. I had a gin bramble followed by wine which was excellent, whereas my husband had a beer of course! We ordered poutine to share with brisket and the whitefish as well. I loved the poutine and that would have been filling enough on its own for two people! My only upset was the whitefish was a bit over-seasoned to me, quite salty. It was good but just not amazing. My father and daughter then met us and we sat at the bar for a quick drink before leaving, and it took a while for the bartender to acknowledge my father for a drink. I think this is as she was busy making drinks for the tables and I doubt they have a lot of folks just at the bar. He has diabetes and they do not have any diet soda so make a note of that if you are in a similar situation. This was my second visit and I would return the next time I’m in the UP, and think you ought to try too.

Such a unique spot so far north in the Keweenaw peninsula. Great food, always busy. Hang out on the beach.

Walked in and was immediately greeted with a very rude can I help you. And I asked for a table of 1. And was extremely rudely given a menu. And quick glance at the menu. And realized this must be a fancy place in the big city. Not a place in the UP.

Very nice restaurant, excellent food and enthusiastic service with waterfront views. Menu and wine list are a bit limited but overall selection is good and quality is excellent. Friendly and attentive bartender! A little out of the way but a nice spot for well-prepared food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere.

Customer service upon arriving was subpar. Food was okay (udon noodles were a bit salty). Know they don’t give out free beer tasting. Very pricey!

Great evening with friends..... if you love a place on the water, look no further!!

This is the only restaurant for miles around but strangely also excellent. The menu is not extensive as they focus on smoked meats. We had, over two nights, brisket, ribs and chicken — all just superb. We also were surprised to discover two unusual and delicious cocktails (Flowers on a Plane and White Negroni) and a wide selection of draft beer. Did I mention that the windows look right over Lake Superior?

This is our new favorite restaurant in the UP! The food was exceptional including the homemade desserts by a local veteran. The cocktails were refreshing and delicious as well. We ordered poutine, hush puppies, pork belly mac & cheese, and the brussel sprouts salad topped with the best brisket I've ever tasted! And the view was breathtaking. Fitzgeralds can't be beat. It's something to write home about folks!

All 4 meals my party ordered tasted spectacular (smoked brisket, smoked half chicken, whitefish, Nashville hot fried chicken). Everything was moist and tasted fantastic. The view from inside seemed like we were overlooking the ocean.

Really enjoyed the food, staff and overall environment. Can’t wait to eat here again! Very creative food that makes this restaurant worth the trip.

Great little gem in "downtown" Eagle River - right on the beach. Unassuming on the outside, a culinary delight on the inside! 12 tables and 6 barstools - I recommend reservations! Amy and Olivia were our servers on 2 separate evenings, both ladies were friendly and courteous. Food we had: Hush Puppies/Mac & Cheese/Grilled whitefish with Tomato jam, smashed potatoes & Asparagus/Walleye Cake/Shepherd's pie. Their meat is smoked in-house and it was used in the Shepherd's pie - yumm! Cocktails were exquisite. I also noticed that all the staff helped out wherever, whenever. Hostess/Bartenders/Servers/runners - all working together. Very good experience and would recommend for sure!!

A tiny little place with big views. On the edge of Lake Superior surrounded by smooth stone beach. Make a reservation in advance and it will be worth it.

Family recommended this to me and I couldn't be more thankful and pleased. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. Very nice atmosphere. Very quickly seated, ordered, and eating! Great "Pit Master's Pie" (think Shepherds Pie except with brisket, pulled pork, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. Lemonade from Italy! Large portions; quality ingredients, great flavors; healthy! Really enjoyed it!!

Fast service, great food with a view!

The best dining experience in the UP for sure. The cocktails were some of the best I have had. The location is stunning and if you are around sunset time, get ready to be amazed.

Can't say enough good things about Fitzgerald's. We stayed one night and ate dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Is the building a bit of a work in progress? Sure. But I think it adds to the authenticity. The rooms were very nice and clean. We had an amazing view of the lake. Dinner was incredible (Vietnamese fries were out of this world). Service was friendly and accommodating. Witnessed the fog roll in and a beautiful sunset and post dinner walk on the beach. Definitely worth checking out, can't wait to be back!

Great BBQ place right by the coast with table side views of the lake. Excellent dishes including smoked brisket and pork. Large selection of beers and drinks. Will make a point to come back here anytime I'm in the area again.

Really special spot worth the drive

We went after my son’s Masters Ceremony at MTU. There we 6 of us and everything we had was excellent. The whitefish literally melted in my mouth. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork and wallet cake were had by the others and we were all raving about the food. The staff was fantastic - we were allowed to bring in our own cake, which they kept in the fridge until we needed it. All around the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Wish we could have gone before our last trip to the UP, so go while you can.

The food was excellent. We started our course with the hush puppies which were great. We tried their Brussels Spout Salad, Grilled Whitefish, and two of the specials as well as the desserts. Everything had great presentation and tasted wonderful!

Excellent food and value with a great view.

Been coming for 15 years but the fitz continues to impress. The food alone is worth it—I mean honestly. It’s amazing. They can make the most boring food (asparagus, potatoes) taste incredible. Literally everything on the menu is a hit. If that isn’t enough, the location is gorgeous. Staff is crazy friendly and the owner is always on top of things. We went for our wedding celebration dinner a few years ago and every time we come back it’s awesome. Super impressed tonight. Good job guys!

A highlight of our trip to the Keweenaw. Breathtaking views; attentive, friendly service. Food was delicious, too. I had the grilled whitefish and their upgraded version of an old fashioned. My husband had the beef brisket sandwich - it was a pleasant surprise that it was served on our hometown's famous Sheboygan hard roll. You may not need a reservation for lunch/early afternoon but will definitely need one during the dinner rush until closing. If it weren't a five hour drive one way, we'd go back often!

I had heard a lot about Fitz's and finally took the opportunity to get up there and try it out. It did not disappoint, but it was also not perfect. We started with the Rositto Fritters, which were good when combined with the dipping sauces. My wife ordered the whitefish, which was served on asparagus and covered with chutney. That really was a delight! Maybe not the best whitefish we have had up here, but it's definitely enjoyable. I chose the special, which was Pit Master's Pie. Basically , Shepard's pie but with their brisket and pulled pork, a layer of carrots and corn (which appeared to be from a bag of frozen veggies) and top with the garlic mashed potatoes and served with a side of sautéed greenbeans. The first taste I had was the potatoes, of course being on top. As Paul Hollywood might say, "If you're going to call it garlic, make it the hero." It was there but didn't pack a punch. When I got to the meat, however, that changed everything. Wow, the flavor of those two meats was incredible. Not overly smoky, but tender and flavorful! It really made the dish. The layer of corn and carrots didn't bring anything to the party. With meat that good, I would have added a layer of fire roasted vegetables to enhance the experience. The side of green beans was well seasoned, but someone couldn't take time to properly prep them and remove the stems? Other side notes; if you are there when the sunsets bring dark glasses because the shades are not enough. Not a complaint, as the setting sun is worth the squinting! The cocktails had too much ice, but this seems to be a trend everywhere. And having to ask for refills of water? All-in-all, it is well worth the trip. We will be back, and this time, I will reserve the ribs in advance.

The service was excellent, and the views of Lake Superior were immaculate. The brisket was tender and delicious, and I definitely recommend getting the garlic udon noodles. The soba noodle salad was a little bland, but overall a very good meal. The carrot cake was definitely a favorite of our group, with the cheesecake coming in a close second for dessert. Definitely get reservations as there is very limited seating, but it's well worth it.

Fitzgerald’s was recommended by a colleague as the best place to eat on the Keweenaw Peninsula. With this recommendation, my expectations were high. I am happy to report that my son, who was my dinner guest and whose standards are even higher than mine, and I agreed that Fitzgerald’s exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return, we just wish it wasn’t a nine-hour drive so that we could enjoy their excellent service, superior cocktails, and fabulous food more often.

Always such a great experience. Best dark beer and of course whisky menu around. Love the brisket. I’m gluten free (minus dark beer😂) and minimal sugar in my diet and can always leave full.

Had heard so much about this place but realized that online reservation needs you to put a deposit. So we stopped by on our drive to the lighthouse and found that you still have to pay a deposit, although it goes towards your dinner. We were seated quick and had we been able to get an earlier reservation, would have been able to see the sunset from our table. For our drinks we had the Vieux Carre and Black Manhattan - both were well made drinks. My son ordered the orange dream soda but wasn’t a fan of that style of soda. The umami fries seemed so interesting by its description but unfortunately the appetizer was kinda one dimensional. The gochujang was over powering and definitely some tartness would have helped the dish. For dinner we shared a brisket platter and half rack ribs. My son had the garlic udon with mushrooms and said it was great. Since there were no leftovers I presume it was truly great :). Our brisket was okay - was tender but not a great depth of flavor. The ribs too were just ok. We finished off with the white chocolate vanilla cheesecake and that was very tasty - wiped clean by us all . For us the restaurant didn’t live up to the hype with respect to the food…but of course the location is one of a kind.

Their brunch is amazing. Can't wait until they come back.

This place was amazing! It has moved to the #1 spot on my top ten list. Smash burger was terrific. Walleye cake was so delicious. Could have eaten 5 servings. Been serching for the best key lime pie for 30 years. And I found it here.

The website states "For indoor dining reservations, click HERE or on the button below" I didn't interpret this to mean I absolutely needed a reservation to eat here. Upon arrival October 7, 2023 (Approximately 3:20pm) the hostess informed me we couldn't be seated until 8:45pm. FYI If you would like to eat here make a reservation, it's a popular place and limited seating. Note: they discourage parties of eight or more so don't bother.

We had dinner there Sunday Oct. 2nd 4:45pm I have a complaint about some of our food. Less of a complaint and more of an FYI. Some things were delicious, some not as good. The Walleye cakes oh my gosh how amazing they were!!! Couple bones were still in the dish. The whitefish dinner was too salty, scraped the seasoning off of the fish and ate as much as we could. The potatoes were not edible at all cause of the salt. Veggies were perfect. I had the udon noodles. At first it tasted ok. Once I mixed it up with the sauce on the bottom it was overwhelming with salt. Even the brisket in it was salty. Smokey and tender but salty. The pie didn't appear to be homemade unfortunately and had a pit in the cherry pie, the apple pie flavor was off. The ribs were perfectly delicious and expertly done, as was the Mac and cheese. Thank you for a good meal despite the fyi. The drinks were delicious and beautiful! The view and ambiance you can't beat. Our service was first class as usual.

I made reservations for a table off the water months in advance. The table was occupied so we decided to wait. We were told to do so in the hallway as the restaurant is small. Very rude hostess. 45 minutes later we finally got a table by the water, at that point it didn’t matter as night had set in and after the wait and the rudeness the whole evening was a bust. Service after that was good, Food was ok, old fashioned was good. Won’t ever go back just due to the rudeness. Clearly the locals are priorities.

One of the best restaurants in the Copper Country. Amazing barbecue! There's not a bad thing on the menu. The beer and spirits list is truly impressive. It's pretty small, so reservations are a must.

a must go to restaurant while visiting Copper Country, reservations are a MUST, very limited seating in the dining room and at the bar. this is a fantastic place to stay, they have a few rooms available, reserve early, they fill up quick. try the key lime pie, to die for.

Food and drinks were excellent!

We have eaten at Fitzgeralds several times and every time has been excellent. This time we had the Udon Noodles and Smoked Turkey speacial and both were fantastic. The craft cocktails were very well made as well. Topping everything off with another beautiful sunset!

As you can tell the whitefish and the brisket were horrible 🤣🤣🤣 JK...Everything was wonderful! The brisket is Texas worthy 😋 and the whitefish was delicious! The service was spectacular the view was awesome. Get a rezzy for sure!

Small restaurant with beautiful lake views! My martinis were excellent and they had a great drink menu and choices overall. My husband had udon noodles with smoked brisket, which he loved. I had the special of the night, which was meatloaf over mashed potatoes with gravy and crispy onions. Very much recommend going here! Reservations are required I believe for the most part.

Beautiful views of the lake, super friendly & kind customer service, and delicious food! Make sure you make a reservation. We showed up without one and they were able to accommodate but it was clear a reservation is best practice due to how popular it is. :)

Looking out the window to see Lake Michigan was breathtaking. You can sit out on their deck too. Very nice place and great food!

After spending all day driving a quarter of the Mandan rd at the end of highway 41 we circled back to eagle river to stop and check out this gem on the shores of t Lake Superior on the tip of the upper peninsula, the moment you bend the corner the smells of bbq meander among the inner crevasses between your brain and soul , reservations are always best but for the adventurer, if there is a seat at the bar you can eat there too! They also take carry out orders for those that wish to dine on the beach!

Small place not many tables inside. Great views to the sunset over Lake Superior. The ribs were over cooked by 15 to 20 minutes. The meat was a little drier than I like. Great crust on the ribs and the BBQ sauce was a nice zesty compliment.

Amazing! I enjoyed the view, the hanger steak, and the japanese scotch. They are left wing political. I am ok with it but you may not be.

Greeted right away by Joel, who gave us a great Lakeview table for a late lunch! Liz guided us through our menu and beverage choices. Busy place with an excellent reputation! We were delighted by the staff, the view, the food! Already discussing our next visit!

We really enjoyed our meal yesterday. The Umami Fries were a great start. For dinner we had the Udon Noodles with Brisket and also Ribs with Mac and Cheese. If you like smoked meat this is your place. Also she enjoyed the hand crafted cocktails. We sat at the bar because they were busy but the view was incredible. It's literally right on Lake Superior. Evan was our bartender. He was awesome! He was very polite and professional. He was not hyper or overly chatty as people behind the bar can sometime be. He was just very calm and we like that. We never like to be rushed and we weren't. He was all business but still had some helpful information and recommendations. We appreciated that. We can't recommend this place enough if you're on the peninsula.

Rustic restaurant, menu changes based on what's available, but they always have barbecue. We started with the shrimp rolls which were just okay. I had udon noodles with brisket and it was delicious. I had enough to take home for lunch the next day. My husband had the spare ribs. They were a bit dry but had lots of flavor. They were served with green beans (perfectly cooked) and mashed potatoes. We also tried the baked beans. Can't have barbecue without baked beans! They were not as soupy as what we're used to, but they were flavorful and delicious. Cheesecake for dessert was wonderful. This is a great place to view the sunset if you can book a table for that time. The menu has appetizers, small plates and entrees. The small plates looked very interesting. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

We just returned from the Keweenaw Peninsula where we dined at Fitzgerald's Restaurant on Lake Superior two nights in a row. Both evening's proved to be exceptional. The food is superior (excuse the pun), and the service was terrific. Our waitress, Amy was attentive, fun, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the are. Kudos to Amy. I highly recommend this restaurant for an outstanding dining experience. The atmosphere is casual and laid back with an elegant menu and wine list. We also stayed at the Fitzgerald's Lodge, which has recently been completely remodeled. Our stay was wonderful. The rooms are really suites, large and stylish, very clean, and well appointed with special touches like like sweet snacks, crackers, Bree cheese, Gouda and salami in the fridge, wine, an amazingly comfortable bed, and microwave. Live edge countertop in kitchenette, large TV, and amazing view of Lake Superior. This is my favorite place and we will return again and again! Love it here.

A group of us stopped to get a drink and enjoy the view. However, the staff was NOT accommodating. Won't ever be back. Zero stars was not option.

We searched for a great place in the Houghton area with little to no luck, drove 35 minutes and it was so worth it! Service was impeccable, food amazing, views outstanding. Check this place out, you won't regret it.

Don't judge a book by its cover. looks can be deceiving. Both apply. First, and this cannot be stressed enough. This food here is AMAZING. Beyond amazing. Every dish, every appetizer, and desert has just been knock you socks off WOW good. Beer selection on tap and canned is well above average. I don't partake or wine or mixed drinks. Based on observation, they appear to be a hit The interior is smallish. Perhaps make a reservation ahead of time. View of Lake Superior is magnificent, especially at sunset. Special note, they have a smoker on site, and they KNOW how use it. Dishes with smoked items are great. Been the a half dozen times, its far an away my favorite place in all the Keweenaw. It is well worth the trip!

We loved our lunch at Fitzgerald’s! Pro tip- if you want to sit outside you can just order online and you can set the time you want to get there. Our food was ready when we arrived in to go containers, and we took it right to their back patio and sat and enjoyed being right next to the beach. The risotto fritters and the brisket were excellent!

Unfortunately, we had a poor experience with the staff here. They were unclear in their communication, slow in their service and impolite to our party. We hope your experience is better than ours.
