The waitress kept saying I'm not forgetting about you really. Plates are unappealing. The servers know nothing about serve from the left pickup from the right. For the prices not a great experience

Normally we have a wonderful experience at Fortes but tonight was a complete disappointment… We were set upstairs and there was only one server and he had too many tables to care for alone. We ran out of drinks a few times and had to ask multiple times for refills. I ordered the filet medallions which apparently are now just a single filet, which I did not know until it came to the table. I ordered the steaks medium and it came out rare. I sent it back and it was barely medium rare which is too rare for me. So I asked to speak with the manager. When he came he apologized and said he’d discount my meal. Well when we finally got our check, the “discount” was only 5%!!! It didn’t even cover the cost of the side we paid extra for because my daughter and I were splitting the filets , which she would not eat at all because it was too raw for her. We even had to pay for a share plate which is basically and extra side so that wouldn’t have been a big deal but we just ended up with a slightly larger than normal side. I was so irritated with this visit and probably won’t be back any time soon which stinks because we really love this place normally. So disappointed.

My fiancée and I stopped in for lunch today. I had bought her white roses and the staff asked if it was our anniversary. We told them it wasn't and that we just were having a romantic lunch. They made our lunch special and even gave us a piece of cake and a lit candle. The food was wonderful. Staff was great. Highly recommended eating here.

Smallish place. Easy location. Friendly service. Great food. I had grilled grouper with citrus beurre blanc sauce. The sauce broke and there was no detectable flavor of citrus, but the fish was still very good. Cooked beautifully. Husband had prime rib which he said was great. The other couple with us enjoyed their meals also. The bar drinks were well made. We all think the food is worth the money The main challenge we had was the noise level. It’s yell-to-hear-other loud. I would happily order a catered meal. But we won’t go back for a sit-in meal due to the noise.

Once you visit, it's pretty easy to see why Forte's is the #1 rated restaraunt in Crossville. We had a simply outstanding experience last night, no small part due to Josh -- our bartender/server. My wife had the Chicken Meditteranean and I had Mama's Tortellini. Both among the best Italian dishes we've had in a LONG time. Again, ask for Josh; he's terrific. We sat in the bar area, quiet and very cozy. Suffice to say, we'll be back!

We went here for my dad‘s birthday. It was awesome.

Our waitress was great!!! But, management billed us $ 7.50 per wine drink when the wine menu for our table said it was only $5.50. The manager refused to honor the menu provided to us. All he had to do was provide our bill with a miscellaneous credit of $6.00 but instead tried to belittle us. We are not ignorant clients and did not appreciate his telling us to " take it down a notch" when we remained calm. As management he could have resolved this situation with minimal professional effort. Too bad...lost us and our friends as customers.....

I think if they had boiled the steak it might have more flavor.

Food was very good. Service was good. My wife and I were there with another couple and it was so noisey we could not carry on a conversation.

Google's information on this restaurant is incorrect. They close between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. everyday they are open. They say they have been trying to get Google to change it but no luck. So here's a picture.

I got the chicken parmesam, just ok. I wouldn't order it again. The wife got the chicken finger plate, dried out chicken. We've been here several times, usually good food. We will be back for another meal, I'm sure.

Not the ace to go for a quiet dinner.

Waited for over an hour, so figured this was a good spot. I unfortunately was wrong as dinner was a step above Olive Garden. The cheese ravioli was undercooked and not very warm when served. The service was lacking and thankfully the manager (I believe) stepped up and got us what we needed. My wife got the tortellini and chicken which wasn't great, but not bad. So for the price and service I would pass in the future.

We arrived at 5:10 for a 5:15 RESERVATION and were told there would be a 25 minute wait because they were “resting the servers”. So we ate at the bar. My medium rare prime rib was medium well and dry. The owner preceded to argue with me that this overcooked tough meat was medium rare. Then he told us the dead bug in my friends drink was because someone left the door open to long ??? Salad came after the meal and they forgot the bread. My friends Martin which was ordered up was served in a rocks glass and they made someone else’s manhattan in a margarita glass. Nope not again. This was our second try. I’ll take Waffle House over this place. At least you know what you are getting. I’ll be amazed if this place lasts 18 months with this new owner

We go here all the time live this place for a quiet meal or a family gathering the food is always of high standards and the service is always good a great place to eat.

Forte's on the Square is delicious in so many ways. The atmosphere is old world cozy with servers that are amazing. Lisa Marie, our server for the evening, made sure we had everything we needed. My husband had the Chicken Parmasean, which he said was the most tender. He kept saying...man that's delicious chicken! He also had brocolli. I had the Mamma's Chicken Tortellini with a tomato cream sauce....Ooohhhh so good! Each dish came with your choice of salad. The dinner was also served with homemade bread. The portions were plentiful, so we each took our left overs back to our hotel. Lisa Marie reminded us the choice of yummy desserts. We did take a slice of Lemoncello Cream Cake to go...once again Delicious! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Forte's on the Square in downtown Crossville, TN! If you're in the area, make a point of dining at Forte's, your tummy will thank you!!

Chicken tortellini tasted like fish, somehow. Waitress was nice. Food is overpriced and gross.

We have heard about this eatery for years as this area is our summer home. We were told it was the best. Well the best for this area isn't saying so much, in my opinion. The server seemed nice in taking our drink and food order, until our dining guest complained about the wine not being what she requested. The server got down right snippy and dismissive and needed to be anywhere else following that. Dinner came. I ordered the signature chicken dish figuring if it had the eatery's name on it, it had to be good. Boy was I wrong. The lightly breaded chicken was soggy and the "bites" had to be cut into two to eat it in polite company. And wow, there was no chance of a vampire being downwind with the amount of garlic used. Sadly disappointed.

Food was delicious. I had grilled grouper, baked potato, and chicken pot pie soup. Husband had veal parmesan, grilled vegetables, and wonderful French onion soup. The waitress was very good and kept coming out to tell us our food would be out any minute but the kitchen was very slow. We called ahead for seating and we were seated immediately. Portions were large and we took half home for lunch the next day.

It is always a delight to eat at Forte's in Crossville. Food is wonderful! Atmosphere is always great! The best place to eat in Crossville, TN. ! Fortes until recently was an awesome little place. The Fortes sold and it is not the same.

My husband took me out for a dinner date. We walked in the door and waited for the hostess to finish laying menus. She never greeted us, asked my name and said we had to wait 20 minutes. We were seated with less enthusiasm than a sloth. The waitresses came and the greeting was cold and uncaring. We gave our order and were told we would get bread....that came after our drinks and after 2 other tables got theirs. While we waited for our meal, we had to listen to the "children" (bus-people) breaking dishes and spraying the tables (and patrons) nearby. Instead of putting the spray bottle on SPRAY, they had it on STREAM, which got on us and others. Then came the food! I must be painfully honest (we are a retired military couple and have eaten all over the world). The chicken Parmigiana and pasta, well, I was unable to finish it. The breading wasn't even sticking to the chicken! I had bread crumbs all in my sauce. My husband had ordered ravioli and meatballs....another meal that couldn't be finished. The ravioli tasted like chewy cardboard and the meatballs were flavorless. This was just a VERY disappointing dinner and honestly cannot recommend to friends or family.

Salmon wasn’t warm on 6/12 when served. Meal took 2 hours start to finish. But otherwise had a very enjoyable evening. New owner is just getting the kinks out, no worries. Will be back !

First visit and we will be returning customers. Food and service was above 5 stars. Service went above and beyond.

Our visit was wonderful! My prime rib was a bit below par but veal parmigiana and chicken Alfredo were amazing. Our waitress, Kinsey was STELLAR! We will ask for her on our next dinning experience at Forte’s ♥️

We made a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday night. We received an email at 7:15 telling us they were closed. It was too late to get into any other fine restaurant. A called back to talk to the people that I made the reservation with and they said they had no idea. They are an answering service. They won't get a second chance.

** BEWARE OF MAKING RESERVATIONS ** We are from out of town and we’re looking for a nice place to eat one night during our stay. I called yesterday and couldn’t get a reservation until 8:30 so we made one for tonight at 7:00. I had looked at the menu and was really looking forward to eating here, but the restaurant was closed when we arrived. I was afraid I had called the wrong restaurant until another couple walked up. They said they had eaten here many times before and had just made reservations earlier in the day. I called again and found out that the restaurant uses a service to take reservations. The restaurant was likely closed yesterday too and they just weren’t aware. The lady that answered seemed disinterested when I told her that the restaurant was closed.

Made a reservation for 7-5-24 at 5:45pm , got an email verification, showed up and found the doors locked and restaurant closed , not sure what happened but they didn't call or email about closing, with it being so late we weren't able to make plans at another sit down restaurant, absolute horrible customer service

I think Forte's is out of business and has closed down. Made reservations for Saturday night and had a confirmation number. Received an email cancelling our reservation. Went to restaurant to find out problem and it was closed during posted business hours with no information why

I do not always leave restaurant reviews but in Forte's case I felt I had to!! Five of us were in the mood for Italian food. We decided on takeout from Forte's. We ordered ravioli with meatballs, chicken caesar salad, parmesan chicken breast w/tortellini in a creamy tomato sauce and chicken parmesan. To say we were happy with our meals is an understatement. In a word... MAGNIFICO! Each meal was a delight. Deliciously seasoned, cooked to perfection and generous portions. We had never thought of takeout there and were so glad we did. When picking up our food, the staff were so pleasant and accommodating. You can be sure we will be back!

If you are looking for a place to dine, look no further. Forte’s knocks it out of the park every time. From their menu with a great delicious variety to choose from, very friendly owners and staff, awesome service, delicious food, you will not go wrong.

If you haven't been here, please do yourself a favor and get in these doors!!! The simple elegance that comes from the kitchen.... My amazing friend brought me and she got the grouper, I had the French onion soup. Both made to perfection. The atmosphere was busy with patrons yet the servers took special time with each person. We were greeted by everyone with cheer and graciousness. I can't wait to come back again. It definitely won't be as long as last time before I come here again to eat.

Not a family restaurant, will not seat you if you have kids.

I ordered soup that had chicken in it. The chicken was under cooked. I also ordered the seafood symphony the shrimp and lobster was good but the scallops were almost raw. My wife ordered spaghetti and meatballs and said that dish was good. I don’t plan on going back there.

Have been here before and was pleased with the service and food. Went there with the same friends as before and this time it was a very disappointing visit. The waitress was mediocre at best, had an attitude and we had to ask for everything. On previous visits the server was excellent never needed to request anything, allowing us to visit with our friends and enjoy our dinner. The food on this occasion was truly disappointing. I ordered what was claimed to be a flat iron wagyu steak for $32. This was not anywhere near a wagyu steak, it was tough and full of gristle. Everyone in our party was truly disappointed with their food and service. Will never return.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and made a reservation as is recommended by their website. The reservation was not honored, and we were not seated until 35 minutes after our reservation time. We ordered an appetizer that we did not get until we asked for it a second time.We had to ask for a wine list twice, and the server’s answer to what kind of whiskey do you have was, “I have no idea.” A salad had to be sent back because it had been ordered without an ingredient because of a food allergy. When our meal arrived, one had to be sent back because it was incorrectly prepared. The food, even the meals prepared correctly, was just okay. Our dissatisfaction with our overall experience was apparently known to the manager because as he went from table to table checking on patrons, he skipped our table. I would not recommend and will not return.

Went here while visiting my family in Crossville. Not vegetarian or vegan friendly. Would it kill them to have a pasta dish with sautéed vegetables? Very disappointing. Mozzarella cheese doesn’t belong on French onion soup. On a good note the service was good.

The staff were super friendly, and we were immediately seated upon arrival. The food service was also prompt and friendly. Most important was that the food came to the table hot off the stove!!! I loved it!!

Went for my birthday. Drinks at the bar very nice. Jason and Mary Beth were a delight. They take pride in what they are doing. Jason even sang happy birthday to me. Good voice BTW. Mussels appetizer was amazing, my husband had the prime rib, cooked perfectly, I had the shrimp in a wonderful garlic tomatoe sauce. Just wonderful meal. Highly recommend!

The food was excellent!!! I had the grilled grouper and my husband had the fried grouper.❤️ Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My salad came swimming in dressing but that was my fault for not requesting the dressing on the side. My husband shared his French onion soup and it was delicious. I had the mussels as a an appetizer and they were the best i ever had. Our waitress was very busy with bigger tables but other staff asked if we wanted our drinks refilled and floor manager snagged our desert order for us. The new owner visited our table and asked how our meal was . Inside decor is dated and the place can seem loud because there's very little to baffle the noise from other tables. I loved the food and will definitely be back. I even know what I will try next time.

The grilled prime rib was cooked just the way I like it. My husband has chicken Alfredo and he said it was awesome. Our baked potatoes weren't done all the way but were good. Salad was just enough and we like that you can get more than one little loaf of bread. Yummy 😋.

It was our first visit and it started poorly. Waiting at the bar to order while being skipped over more than once was frustrating. Finally got drinks and the table was ready. They were busy and it was a bit noisy, but we could converse well enough. The food was very good so the price seemed about right.

I am from Indiana. I had Forte’s on March 16, 2024. This is by far the best and greatest restaurant in Tennessee! The food was amazing! The atmosphere was perfect! Crossville has a hidden gem with this place! The shrimp Vera Cruz is so amazing and I wish they would make the sauce available!

My salmon chowder was excellent. Very good rolls, crispy at the top. My end cut prime rib was done perfectly. The horse radish could’ve been stronger. Idaho baked potatoes like all great restaurants. My wife also had the prime rib and thought it was outstanding. We were too full for dessert, but they looked great.

Food is as close to new york italian as you can get.

This restaurant is outstanding! Our waitress Renee recommended the crab cakes as the daily special. We were so happy we took her suggestion! Everything was cooked to perfection, tasted wonderful and was served correctly. Renee served fresh, home made , warm from the oven, rolls while we waited. We were sorry we didn't have room for dessert, but looked longingly at some of the choices. Reservations are accepted. They are open a few hours for lunch and reopen for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. During the 3 days we spent in Crossville, this was hands down, the best place to eat. We'll return next time we're in the area.

Very good food and friendly place. Family owed business. I had prime rib and broccoli and it was excellent. My sister had grilled chicken which was good also.

Food is always exceptional 😋. Katie, our server was great 👍. The cocktails 🍸 were perfect. Only problem was we were to full to have their wonderful deserts. Maybe next time. Make sure to call early for reservations!

5th visit, and everything was great. I had a sirloin filet, and it was wonderful. Generous size, I took more than half home. House salad with in-house made blue cheese dressing and perfectly baked potato.

We have been coming here for years and enjoy diner here for a special occasion or just a night out with family and friends. They have a full service bar with a respectful wine list. Service is always pleasant and the food is the best in Crossville. You really should make a reservation because it gets busy as soon as they open the doors.

Today we had lunch there and I have to say it’s some of the best food I ever had since I moved here. The salmon 🍣 was delicious and the sweet potato 🍠 fries were amazing and I loved the stewed zucchini. I would go back to this restaurant as the food and service was excellent and the price was good as well.

You can't go wrong here. Everything on the menu is top shelf fantastic. And if you're lucky enough to have Lisa Marie be your server, well, you're in for a treat. She is amazing. Go give yourself some mouth pleasure at Fortes. Mr. Ken Forte even came out to greet us. What an awesome place. I included a picture of my brother Marshall enjoying the Milky Way Cake for dessert. We both had the prime rib and it was on point.

I didn't get to experience a meal. I made a reservation in Wednesday for tonight over the phone. When I got there tonught, they had no reservation. They were so busy that I didn't want to argue the point. I drove across town and had their French Onion Soup and a meal and it was excellent without all the noise.

Well we hadn't been back for a couple of years and we're excited to get back. The dishes we previously loved were no longer served. The dish I got, chopped sirloin with onion and mushroom gravy was basically hamburger meat with what tasted like canned brown gravy. So disappointing I just can't explain how sad we both were. Change is difficult sometimes.

While vacationing in the area, we tried Fortes on the Square for dinner and were very pleased with our experience. We did not have a reservation but the wait time was not too long. My husband had the Forte Special and I had the Black Jack Salmon. Both of us were very happy with our choices. The atmosphere was great and Aly checked back with us frequently to make sure we did not need anything else. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
