Old world service and wonderful food.

If you want a 5-star old world restaurant,where food and service is the reason you dine out, this is the place!

No where do they tell you they are closed for over a month on vacation in June-July. U would think they post it on their website

We stumbled upon this place after shopping at Scottsdale fashion Park. It was quite the find. Excellent Italian food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. They even have valet parking.

I requested an add-on (Grilled Chicken added to the Fettucini with Meat Sauce). While the pasta and sauce were hot, the chicken had cooled to below lukewarm. The Merenghata dessert, however, was excellent. Let it melt in your mouth and the flavor blossoms. More than one of us thought everything was overpriced. We were pleased, however, that the included surcharge (there were eight of us) was 20% of the subtotal, not the total, as is more and more common for restaurants.

Franco’s Italian Caffe is one of the best Italian restaurant's I’ve had the pleasure to visit. i find the food and everything to be good quality. It has become my favorite restaurant.

Since 2010 , Franco’s has been our go-to dining place when travelling to Scottsdale. Not only are the dishes prepared with authenticity, the atmosphere is cozy. When you’re tired of the loud , pretentious , avant-guard restaurants - head to Franco’s!

Great food and a really nice atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly. We had a great experience ask the way around and will definitely be going back very soon.

Family owned and operated, Franco's is a true gem. David was our waiter and he is spot on at all times. Great recommendations and superb service! The specials are truly special and we loved the duck stuffed ravioli. Finish it off with the Governors chocolate cake and capaccino was a fantastic experience. The restaurant may be small and unassuming, but it is as good an Italian place as it gets.

I can’t love this place enough. The food was SPECTACULAR! Everything we had was incredibly flavorful. Nothing swimming in heavy sauces. The sauces complimented the main dish vs over powering it. Get Grandmas special desert and thank me later!

It was a great experience. I had the Paste Erbe Aromatiche which was a different Italian pasta than I was used to which was great, tasted and felt authentic. I then also had the cheesecake which was also great, a different kind of cheesecake because it’s made with Italian cream cheese but it was still great. What really stood out was the service, the waiter was polite, friendly and overall is the reason I’m leaving this review. Great atmosphere and I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Scottsdale!

Food was delicious. Welcoming was warm. Definitely worth a revisit. Service decent but ending on a sour note, I didn't care for tip automatically added to check for party of two. I must say I definitely pay for service and frequently way beyond 20%. But in this case, he got what waiter asked for. This type of tip practice gives me the feeling I can't be trusted. Also, in attempts to make room, waiter told us he could take our valet ticket to the attended but it appeared the goatee waiter had no interest in doing so noted by his disappearance. Perhaps it was just one of those nights, but this was my experience last night.

Old school done right! True Italian delight, Don't look to reserve a table on the net, gotta call Dave to get a slot. Bread with unreal olive oil...yes. Great authentic menu and many homemade specials. I had the Pollo Piccata so good! Wife had the Scampi con Penne...unreal! Cesar salads were light and tasty as well. Strong pours, vast wine selection. If you want an Italian dinner experience like the old days ..this is the place!!

Wow! I am blown away by this restaurant, specifically the service. Food was amazing too though! We came here this evening with our two young children (4 and 6) and were immediately nervous when we stepped in and saw it was a bit fancier than we anticipated, because it can be tough with kids. Our server (I didn’t catch his name but has an Irish accent) was so incredible. He made us feel so welcome, was so attentive and amazing with our kids. Another server/bartender spent time speaking with our kids about Pokémon brought our kids chocolate cake and was so so friendly - truly this is the best service we have ever experienced. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and enjoy our night so much.

A really delicious Italian dinner. As many other reviewers have mentioned it is very authentic and the service is fantastic. Our waiter Anthony did a fabulous job and was extremely attentive. They also have a very large menu and they had at least half a dozen specials, which I always love and usually order. Parking can be quite tricky so the best option will be valet for $11. Inside is small, although it is very cozy and can easily host multiple large groups as we saw two different tables with at least a dozen people at both tables. The only issue we had was our entrées came out extremely slowly, about 45 minutes after our entrées came out, so there must’ve been a back up in the kitchen. However, the food was delicious when it finally came out. I chose the Arugula and Beet Salad to start, and it was very good. I wish there would have been more beets and more goat cheese, but the flavors were very nice. I wouldn’t really recommend it though, because there were only a few beets at the bottom of the salad. For my entrée I chose one of the specials for the evening: the Osso Bucco. It was honestly very good and a very large sized portion. I left the restaurant feeling very full and happy. Overall a great and casual Italian dinner in the heart of Scottsdale. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal and especially if you’re looking for a place that is more casual than some of the other options close by. I plan to be back next time I am visiting town.

What a great night! We enjoyed a delicious dinner that was like home cooking. Anthony took care of us and made me feel like a celebrity. If you’re trying to decide on a great place to eat and have a great experience all around, look no further.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The fettuccine tartufo was absolutely phenomenal. I can’t wait to come back. The wine is fantastic as well.

What a great find in Scottsdale. You walk in to what strikes you as a throwback New York City Italian restaurant complete with the elderly Italian waiters who know EVERYTHING. We were greeted at the door by Franco who is an absolute delight. Our server Anthony (a bit younger!) was knowledgeable, attentive, and provided exquisite service. From the appetizers to the main courses (including one of Franco's family dishes - Erbe) to the desert and wine, this was a great dinner. Wonderful restaurant - a gem in Old Town Scottsdale.

Place is very quaint and intimate. Really loved the setting, it felt romantic but not overly so where you can't bring the kids. The service and food were absolutely excellent and a true experience. Will definitely be coming here again and bringing some friends and family to introduce as well. Had the fettuccine tortufe and it was so delicious. Light and flavorful. The bruschetta was incredibly fresh and the flavor was explosive in your mouth. Love that they also use real olive oil from California. It is not like your regular olive oil and so delicious. The cheesecake is a must as well. I'm not a huge cheesecake fan but this blew our minds.

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Franco's! To start with, the place is charming and warm. Anthony (Bob) was friendly, attentive, engaging, and funny. His mastery of the menu, wine list, and the complex list of specials was most impressive. We started with the baked asparagus and prosciutto- what a treat! The cioppino served as a soup was packed with delicious seafood and the lasagna was meaty, rich, and satisfying. We had the special dessert with a flash-frozen meringue. I can't remember what it was called but it was fantastic. From start to finish, from atmosphere to food to service, Franco's impressed and we will definitely be back.

Excellent food, waiters that know the food and wine, and a nice atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Everything we've tried has been fresh and home-made. It's always so nice having Franco himself greet you at the door and often even answer the phone. We've been going several years and never had a bad experience.

I would give this 10 stars. Tony recommended the Erbe aromatiche and I had a "ratatouille" moment. So good. Great appetizers as well. Highly recommended. Listen to the specials of the day as well... rumor is lasagna is amazing.

Fantastic. I was lucky enough to partake of their lasagna. But be aware they don't have it all the time. But if they do, here is what I would say about it. "If heaven were Italian their scratch made lasagna would be manna." Nuff said

I dream of Franco's when I go to sleep at night. I grew up in Tuscany as a kid, and this is the most authentic Italian restaurant in Scottsdale! We had the best service and even better food. Love you Franco's!!!

They accommodated our bridal party beautifully and made us fall in love with their Italian food. We were glad we ended up enjoying dinner with the staff who was respectful, kind, and working hard all night to keep our drinks full and all our questions answered about the menu. Highly Recommended!

Welcome to our new favorite restaurant! Having lived in Scottsdale for more than 20 years, how did I not find this sooner? At our waiter's suggestion, we split the appetizer trio whlch was extraordinary! It included roasted red pepper with anchovies, slices of tomato with burrata and caviar and prosciutto with melon. I thought it was heaven. My husband had the fettuccine, very rich, and I enjoyed the fruitti de mare which was delicious as well. Enormous portion loaded with clams, shrimp and calamari. Our waiter, Anthony, was beyond exceptional! His thorough knowledge of the menu dazzled us. He was charming, efficient and very attentive. The entire experience was amazing! Can't wait to go back! Thank you, Anthony and the entire staff for a perfect evening!

Probably some of the best food I have ever eaten. Prices were fair and the service was excellent as well. This will be our go to Italian spot from now on. 10/10 recommend.

By far the best sit down experience I have ever received , absolutely amazing food , Franco and his wife are down to earth and extremely passionate about every dish , uses the best ingredients and nothing here is disappointing, the filet mignon melted in my mouth , the bruschetta was so fresh and tasteful and the fruit and cheese platter every fruit was as ripe as can be and the cheese selection was so complimenting , 10/10 would recommend!! Oh and the flourless chocolate cake might be the best dessert I’ve ever eaten !!!!

My wife and I found Franco's restaurant last minute. We decided to go in even if we didn't have a reservation. We were welcomed in and showed to a nicely arranged table. The waiter was very nice and had a vast experience about the menu and ingredients used for the dishes. He helped us navigate around the choices. We ended up having a 3 course meal that was incredibly delicious. We picked different dishes and all of them were cooked to perfection with authentic Italian ingredients. What a great experience! I definitely recommend this place to everyone interested in having a great meal. Will definitely come back.

Amazing Italian! The pasta erbe aromatiche was amazing as was the mirengue dessert.

The food was pretty good. The service was very good. I had the pasta that you see in the picture. I'm not sure what it was called. I usually just go in and tell the waiter to bring me the best thing they have. I would have rather had the veal or the Lamb with the pasta but I told him to bring me whatever he thought was best so that's what I got.

This place is outstanding in everything! Anthony was the best server and the food was more than outstanding. My husband had gnocchi’s in red sauce and I had penne shrimp. The shrimp was huge larger than in Cabo. The food and service is the best.

Wonderful home-made, authentic, delicious food! Had my Italian Mother with us and she absolutely loved it and also gave a 5 star review. Warm hospitality once you get in and are seated. 😉 If you love Italian and are in Scottsdale this is a must go!

I’ve had better Italian food for the price. Portions aren’t great either. It’s just okay.

I walked in with my boyfriend who is African American. The hostess said to him “are you sure you want to eat here?” Then what I believe to be a patron walked up to us and said “welcome to Franco’s. And I’m white!” Racism is alive and well at Franco’s. It looked boring anyway. We went elsewhere and had more fun and no discrimination. Sad. Get with the times, people.

We went this past Saturday with friends are regulars. What an awesome dining experience. First, you are welcomed and brought to your table where the server immediately pours you water and asks what you might want to start off with for drinks. They add a meat and cheese plate with lovely bread to accompany your cocktail. The menu is lovely. I had fresh halibut and it was cooked perfectly. My hubby had cippionio all fresh fish in light read sauce. Friends had chicken pillars and beef ragu with pasta. You were not rushed you dined. I miss that from living and growing up in NYC. We will make this our go to for a very enjoyable dining experience

From entrance to exit – a consummate dining experience.  The ambiance is quaint, comfortable and pleasing. We were promptly seated - our reserved table was ready and waiting. Antonio, our waiter, set a wonderful tone for a relaxed dinner.  Service was prompt, pleasant and unrushed.  There was ample time for uninterrupted conversation as the evening unfolded. Antonio was intuitive knowing when we were in conversation but yet timed his appearances impeccably. The food was served warm and to perfection.  Everyone was extremely satisfied with presentaion, portion and flavour.. Every facet of dinner was appropriately paced - from wine to limoncello.  While numerous dining opportunities abound in Scottsdale, Franco’s should be not be overlooked but rather command consideration for a great dining experience.

Hand's Down The Best Italian Dinner We Have Had To Date. I was there a few weeks ago with my family of four on the recommendation of our cabana attendant at the Phoenician. When we walked it is was immediately clear this place only offers legit scratch-made Italian. Appetizers, main courses and deserts had all of us awe of the food. I had the Gnocchi with pink meat sauce (Gnocchi Bolognaise?), which was excellent. We tried the lasagna as a group and again, awesome. All other meals for the table were exceptional. They brought us a desert plate, which included their "Merenghata". WOW! We ended up ordering 2 more pieces...the best desert out there. Our server was on top of things and personable. I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure Franco himself visited our table. He spoke Italian better than English, thanked us for visiting and welcomed us with his family recipe desert. It felt like our business was important to him, which is rare these days. Interestingly, we sat right next the review from that night from the coffee and desert only people. They were at the table for about 30-minuits at 7:30pm on a Saturday. We thought their visit was odd given all other tables had hunkered in for the duration of the evening with most matching our 2-hour stay. I did not see or hear anyone be rude to the couple, but would agree...this is not a coffee shop. It is the best Italian place in Scottsdale...maybe even the US! P.S. Thank you Phoenician cabana attendant for helping us get a reservation on a busy night.

Definitely authentic. We enjoyed our visit to Franco's. I had spaghetti and clams and it just seemed like it had a bit too much salt. The cheese and fruit platter we had was really good too. Wish they had lemoncello cake on the menu for dessert. Small and intimate place. The service was good. A little too much noise made it sometimes hard to hear our server.

OMG the food and service was amazing 🤩🤩🤩 the staff is very friendly and helpful. The other people in my party of 3 shared the lasagna and chicken piccata and the owner gave us complementary cheesecake 🍰🍰🍰 also I had the pasta 🍝 and it was to die for. Overall the staff was friendly and all the food was good 😁😁😁 and I think this was a very good restaurant I highly recommend this restaurant

I called for reservation 5 days before we were going and everyone I spoke to was so friendly! When we got to the restaurant we were immediately sat at a perfectly set table! Franco brought us appetizers and our waiter recommended wine! The food was authentic and delicious! They didn’t miss a beat! This restaurant was the perfect way to end our couples trip, all 8 of us loved it. Make sure to try the pink pasta and the dessert! So delicious! It’ll become a staple for us when we go to Phoenix!

This is a wonderful place for me and my family. The food is delicious, and there is music. The only thing I would say about this caffe is that the wait time is medium, instead of short.

Authentic Italian cuisine, first-class service and a dining area that provides a romantic ambiance. The pasta erbe aromatiche is phenomenal and the governers chocolate cake was decadent. Don't forget to nightcap with a limoncello.

My photos do not do this place justice. The food is first rate! They pride themselves on their authenticity. The food tastes like it is straight out of Italy. We toured Italy a couple years back and dinning at Franco’s felt like and the food tasted like we were in a high end Italian restaurant in Italy with authentic Italian dishes. They will alter the food when requested to do so to make it more “Americanized” but this is not needed. I appreciated that they try and accommodate their guests and even the food that is altered is also amazing. The staff were first rate as well. We had a really sweet and detail oriented waitress who took care of all our needs and made sure the meal was excellent. The last time we came my wife didn’t like the dish, she didn’t know what veal was like and it wasn’t her cup of tea but they quickly replaced it with something she loved. The owner of the restaurant came over and talked of us and made sure we loved everything. Such a great little restaurant! We highly recommend it.

Franco’s is a lovely little gem in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Wonderful food, wonderful service, and charming atmosphere. My party of four had the lasagna, a halibut dish, the ravioli, and the chicken piccata. All were incredibly delicious. Eating here reminded me of my time in Italy. I will definitely be back!
