Absolutely disgusting. We ordered the chicken nachos and the chicken was overcooked and the chips were incredibly stale. We also got some type of Baja wrap with mahi and it was cold. We sat outside and there were probably 30 flies swarming us and our food. Won’t be going back.

Cold fries, looked like they scraped the bottom for my friend. Jerk chicken sandwich was kinda mediocre. Good service and a nice environment!!

The food was incredible! We were a group of 8 and the service was good, they were out of a lot of the foods we wanted and the drinks were strong. Great ambiance outside, although the music was a little loud. Highly recommend for a large group!!

Our 4 top plus pet arrived on a Friday after the normal lunch service and were promptly seated outdoors and attended to by an excellent member of the wait staff. I have attached several photos - all dishes were very well received. Big sincere kudos to Fuel owner / management for using paper straws. The food and service were even better than my last visit (see below). Service was rewarded with 20%+ tip.

One of the best spots in CHS! Grabbed a bite and a beer with my partner and Croft was our bartender. She was a joy and definitely made our experience even better. Will be back when we’re in town this fall!

Wings and Rice Bowls were fantastic! My wife is a vegetarian and it was easy for her to order. Can say that for all places. We will definitely go back again during our stay.

Wings were ice cold in the middle I guess since they freeze them then fry them. “Jerk chicken sandwich” wasn’t jerk chicken at all. The side dishes were all room temp, not fresh. Flat beer. Atmosphere is ok. Lots of bugs on the patio (flies and mosquitoes) Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable.

If you have 20 mins plus to wait for a refill, Fuel is for you! Horrible service for Charleston spot that has to compete with so many other restaurants that have great service. This place is nice but the service and food are not. Steer clear of Fuel in Charleston....

Great food and atmosphere in an old gas station.

Me and my coworkers at MUSC came to Fuel for happy hour one day after work. Madeleine was our server and she took great care of us. She was super friendly and made sure we had a great time at Fuel. The drinks and nachos were excellent! We can't wait to come back for our next happy hour. Thank you to the amazing staff at Fuel, especially Madeleine!

This was some of the best food I've had in a long time. Baby-friendly. Inside seating is a bit cramped and very hot, but outside was breezy and fun.

vibes are amaaazing at night, drinks are so well priced. we got the nachos with chicken and i was very unimpressed as they turned out soggy and the chicken dry and in such huge chunks. great for watching the games tho!

The guacamole was probably the best I have ever tasted. The braised pork tacos are fabulous! Loved the sweet plantains. My Cadillac Margarita was delicious. Highly recommend this place, especially the covered back patio.

Had a good lunch here before hitting the road. Indoor/outdoor seating. Didn't seem any AC bit with the fans running wasn't to bad. Diner atmosphere. Kids menu available but not on the menu. Shared shrimp Tacos & SP fries with chips & queso as a starter. Kids had burgers & fries & more than enough to fill them up. They have a cocktail & beer list with several options. Service was pleasant & pretty quick. Glad we found this place & will go back when in town.

Went here for dinner last night. Atmosphere is lively and welcoming. I have been here before but was disappointed this time around. It took 35 minutes just to receive our first drink. For food- about an hour and boy were we hungry! My party of 4 and I were understanding to our server because they seemed understaffed. We asked for some chips and dip and they were so stale we couldn’t eat them. Not to mention 3 of us had to adjust our order because they were out of everything. For spending $100 on dinner for just my partner and I- definitely wish we went elsewhere.

We found this gem by our Airbnb. Emma was our waitress and she was delightful!! We had the loaded nachos and the guacamole… it was wonderful. They have a great beverage and wine selection! Don’t let the exterior sway you… it is a delightful place

Came here on a Friday night for our best friend’s bachelorette. Our party of 5 arrived around 9 pm, 2 hours prior to closing. We were informed the kitchen closed at 9:30 and to order prior to then, assured we would be served so long as we sat right away, which we were. We were then walked to a table, but unexpectedly informed that we were no longer able to sit in a server’s section and would need to be seated elsewhere, requiring us to be order at the bar instead. Fine, we ordered within the next five minutes. 40 minutes later, at 945 after the kitchen closed, we were informed the majority of ingredients within our order were no longer available and were not able to order anything else because the kitchen was closed. The staff members Cassidy and Warner were so kind, we were offered to comp our food. The only saving grace to this horrendous experience was the kind staff members mentioned above. Please pay your kitchen staff adequately so they can properly communicate with front of house within a timely manner.

I visited this restaurant a few years ago and it had some of my favorite food in this area. However, I have tried to visit three times since in the past year and each time, they have closed their kitchen extremely early without any notice on the door or website. It’s misleading and despite the good food, I just can’t go back or recommend anyone.

Stopped in on a Wednesday around 5pm. About 40% of the tables were taken at this time. The beer of the month on their website was totally different from what the server said the monthly special was (local beer vs mass produced). Then we went to order and we're told 'oh yeah we're out of smash burgers, I didn't tell you earlier because I didn't think you'd order a burger'. So not only an incredibly rude comment but why would you wait to even tell us? It's 4 years past COVID it's time to get a hold on our food delivery. We settled on a salad and a chicken wrap. The Caribbean chicken was seasoned but not spicy at all like advertised. The salad was ok. The French fries however were super greasy. When we were all finished our waitress was no where to be found. We sat for a good 5 minutes just trying to find her to pay and leave

Ok food but the service was atrocious. Half of us were served, and the other half of us waited an hour for our food. We asked them multiple times what was going on, before they finally admitted our orders were zero’d out. Just terrible service. Cool place but terrible execution.

Food was good, I had a shrimp taco and the street corn. The corn was watery, seemed like a can of corn dumped in bowl and some good sauce on top with some tomato’s and cilantros. Taco was good, a bit of cabbage. Quesadilla was pretty good too (bf had that) $3 for a 2oz side of guacamole though 🥴 Also the menu does NOT reflect the prices on the receipts. Your bill will most likely be more than expected. When asked about the menu price compared to the ticket price “yes it does say that on the menu, but in our system it has always been $7.50, and I can’t change it” Service was okay, waited long enough to be greeted after being sat, to look over the menu and have our orders ready by the time she got to the table. It is a cute place

We expected so much more. This is a bar, not a restaurant. We ordered guacamole and chips and group bites as appetizers. The guacamole.was slimy green, not fresh. The chips were stale. The fish bites - not much fish and some very hard bits. Entrees- mahi wrap and black bean burger. My burger was very good. My sweet potato fries were good. My husband said his wrap was dry, fish was overcooked and his hand cut fries were oily and limp. Undercooked Our server was a cute , young girl. Very nice. Took our order then things got slow (appetizers and food arrived at the same time. ) We ate our sandwiches and sweet potato fries and left the rest. I would not return

The place smelled like a trash dumpster. I was glad they had the doors open to let fresh air in.

Our server on Cinco was Alden- she says she was new and it looked like she was serving almost all of the tables in the restaurant when we got here! She was incredible and didn’t miss a beat. Food and drinks were great.

We were a group of seven and ate a variety of dishes that were all good. The waitress was not very friendly. We almost left because the inside had the most atrocious smell. My husband had been the day before and warned us but we knew we would be outside and didn’t think it would be a problem. It smelled like they cleaned the whole place with nasty molded mop water. It was awful.

Came in with my coworkers from MUSC and we had a great experience! Our sever Madeleine was so sweet and accommodating. We had a few extras join us and she handled it seamlessly! Good food and great outside section and even better service!

Converted gas station serves as a restaurant now. There were happy hour drinks till 7pm. Food was good - corn chowder is perfect, and so was the service. We sat outside. There was a scent inside I associated with old wet rags. Good cleaning could benefit this place.

Fuel used to be a nice place to come after a long day of clinic at MUSC. Recently the quality of food and service has been really bad. Last week my friends had a pile of salt at the bottom of their nachos making half of them inedible. When we told the server she was dismissive and rude. Today we were back and ordered queso and there was a pile of grease on top. When we said something we were dismissed again. I would not eat here again. Drinks are ok but it is not worth dealing with the rude servers.

Waitstaff and service have plummeted in the last year. Every time I ask for anything the servers act disgruntled and irritated. Used to frequent Fuel after class while at MUSC, but I will not be back.

If you’re a college kid that simply wants to drink, this is the place for you. They cater to college kids and alcohol. If you like eat, go somewhere else. Burger came out as a black hockey puck but the fries were fabulous. We ordered pork machos for an appetizer, came out cold with the burger. Service was awful. Again, all attention was outside the bar. Couldn’t find our server for 20 minutes and finally went to the bar to pay our check. Go somewhere else.

Food was good and our server Sasha was great even though it was super busy! The drinks are also really good. Sasha made sure we had everything we needed and we enjoyed our night.

I’ve been coming to fuel for a few years now and it is always at the top of my list when recommending casual bites around Charleston. The atmosphere is amazing and can be very vibrant on the weekends around happy hour. It’s a wonderful place to have a few drinks for dinner or come for dinner. As for the service, it has been nothing but great every time I have gone. My favorite waitress is Maria, highly recommend you ask for her if you can.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fuel, and I must say our service provided by Maria truly was one of the best experiences I have had with a server. She was very attentive to our table and went above and beyond to ensure we had a delightful dining experience. I definitely be coming back soon & requesting Maria to be our server!

Cool atmosphere but the food was awful. Ordered grouper fingers and they were NOT grouper. Tasted like a freshwater fish, probably catfish given the “muddy” flavor, and they were thin strips from tiny filets, not thick “fingers” from a bigger meatier fish like grouper. Also the fish was way too salty and greasy, borderline inedible. The restaurant was also out of rice, which is crazy for a Hispanic themed restaurant and entrees came out wrong, missing ingredients. Some of the drinks on the menu they weren’t able to make either. Skip this one folks.

Enjoyed our lunch very much, we had just watched a dive and dinners episodes the night before ,Guy Fieri was visiting The Fuel episode and we thought what the heck we are going to Charleston and we’re going to try that. The nachos were excellent the best we ever had then we tried the grilled jerk chicken sandwich and sweet potatoe fries so good highly recommend. Paige our server was so welcoming and we enjoyed our conversation with her. Thanks for a great experience!

Stayed next door for three nights and was turned away 4 different times for private parties, a waitress saying “we’re at capacity” with not enough staff, being told there was a food shortage, or being closed at regular hours.

Excellent food! A group of us ate and we loved everything we got. The poor bar server who took our orders was overworked but still did a fantastic job. The food came out blazingly fast. I recommend the roasted corn chowder and the pulled pork nachos. The building is a former gas station.

First time at this place. Cooks sitting on the prep tables area eating. Racist music blaring out of the kitchen for customers to hear. I heard the N word multiple times while having beer. As a Chef, I was disappointed by what I saw. I will be filing complaints with the health department about this place 😕

This place smells horrendous. The server was super smooth and not at all on it. Took forever to be waited on, forever for food to arrive, then one persons meal didn’t arrive for 10 mins after everyone else’s. Then it was wrong. Then she yelled at us that she was busy even after hours there were 2 tables of people there only when we arrived. No manager on duty. Food was ok. Music was good.

Restaurant wasn’t busy at all. We waited quite a long time for food and it came out cold/warm and wasn’t very good. Employees were drinking and taking shots while we waited for our food which was shocking.

We saw our waitress I believe a total of 3 times. The only thing that was good was the water and guacamole. Horrible fake Mexican food. Wouldn’t visit again.

Worst experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had. I walked in around 1pm, it was not busy but it took them 15 min to even come to the front to seat us. We sat for about ten minutes and no one ever came to the table to greet us, much less take our order. The waitress was at the bar taking shots with the hostess instead of tending to her tables. We left without ordering food, because we never had the opportunity to order.

Wanted to like this place— the concept is so cute, but the food was not great. Our table was dark, due to a missing lightbulb and service was spotty. Seems like folks at the bar were loving it, so maybe go for drinks and not dinner.

I’ve been wanting to check this place out for sometime. Met a friend for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Very cool spot. I loved the interior, staff was friendly, food was very good. Parking could be an issue depending on when you go but definitely will return. Plantains were delicious!

Great little place for a nice casual bite. Cool renovated old gas station. I had the Cantina Classic (cheeseburger) and Hand Cut Fries. My wife had the Fish Sandwich, Grilled (Red Snapper) with sweet pepper relish and Sweet Potato Fries. The server was prompt, polite and cheerful. She recommended the fish sandwich as well as some appetizers. The meal was delivered quickly and just as ordered. All was good! The check came to just over $30 combined. From the menu, it looks like they have a decent bar as well.

Fuel... Because it is in an old gas station. Atmosphere is very casual. Music was pop. 3 t.v. screens with sports. Outside dining available. The food was excellent. Mahi taco was the best I've had. Nachos were good, but not the best we've had. Only complaint, the table was somewhat grimy. Needed a very deep cleaning.

Service: Tried to call multiple times to place a pickup order, no one answered so we walked there to place it. No problem. Get there and are ignored for a solid 5 minutes (multiple employees looked our way) and when we finally got to place the order the girl seemed like she couldn’t be bothered. Came back to grab it, ignored for 10 minutes that time, and same girl gave us even more attitude. Mind you there was no one in the restaurant except for the servers friends at the bar. Food: mediocre. Got the island bowl and it was mostly undercooked rice that was still kinda crunchy. Chicken was seasoned okay, not anything like Jerk, but okay yet only a couple pieces were cooked right. Everything else was tough and chewy. Salsa and toppings were minimal but fresh enough. Careful opening the salsa though because all of ours basically exploded onto our shirts. Was excited for this place but it fell flat.

Stopped by today for lunch and got the fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was spectacular! Appreciate you guys🥰🥰

Saw Diner Drive In and Dive episode. It was worth detour. Jerk chicken on salad was excellent. Nice variety of local brews served cold.

I have been to fuel several times over the years and was happy to see it remains a fun place to grab a beer and hang out at the double sided open bar. The staff is friendly. The crowd is generally a bit younger but varied and the outdoor space is a big draw. I didn't eat this visit. The prices seemed good and I think this place is a good starting place for an evening an evening out in Charleston. There is decent parking in front and around Fuel, but it fills up fast, so you might need to look around the neighborhood for parking.

Had to ask if we had a server after sitting for 10 min with no one coming by. Server highly recommended the jerk chicken as what they are known for. Order said jerk chicken sandwich. Chicken was terribly dry, stringy and had zero flavor. Jerk seasoning should be intense! The corn chowder was passable, but the boiled peanuts could put someone in the hospital. Insanely salty, and I’ve had many a boiled peanut. Bummer, had higher hopes for this place.
