Very nice place. Decor, seating with cloth napkins and more formal silverware. We were celebrating our 6th anniversary. We had our rehearsal dinner here, and it was a delightful memory Very professional attentive servers. Completely dependable quality of their food. They carefully serve uou the level of spice you request. I had Chicken Tika Masala, Mild. It was true comfort food. Partner had Pallak Paneer, medium spice. We both loved our meals. The butter Naan was one of the best I've had in ages. It was obviously freshly made to order. Reasonably priced beverage menu.

Best Indian restaurant in this town . Been going twice a month and it's always tasty flavors, great spices, now getting hooks for vegetables dishes wich are fantastic as well ! Very friendly staff , Thanks Kumar.

I love Gateway to India, I have been here several times for take out and dining in. I came here for my birthday and the food and drink was amazing and we had a great time. Their different types of Naan breads are amazing. I’ve come here 4 times and every single time it’s been great food and service.

Ordered spicy food and it was sweet. Asked for extra garlic on Naan and did not receive. Others in my group also stated their food was not how they requested it.

Kumar was the best, had a great conversation and even greater food. He even comped our desert! Would definitely recommend and we WILL be back.

They never miss!! The food is authentic, freshly cooked, and delicious…this is my go-to for Indian food. I highly recommend the samosas, onion bhajji, peshwari naan, any lamb dish, and any curry dish here…like I said, they don’t miss! 🎯

The food is amazing, especially the garlic naan. It’s absolutely amazing when hot. Very crispy and pairs well with the sauces. No wonder why sexy naan is the name of the dish on here. The interior design is beautiful and intricate. Highly recommend the mango lassi. The mango lassi is like liquid crack, sadly I’m too broke to order copious amounts of it. The music is amazing too which is random. They play music videos from T series on the tv. (Edit:They even gave us free mango lassi 😭)

It’s Mother’s Day, I get that you’re busy. But if I’m going to spend over a hundred bucks i expect to get decent size portion of chicken. A half tandoori chicken is 4pcs. The use Cornish hens it seems. 2 tiny legs and ?? Not sure what the other tiny 2pcs were but I’m very disappointed. I love this place. Not sure what’s going on.

I've had Indian food at multiple restaurants and in multiple different countries and I can say this is the best Indian food I've had. The chicken Korma and Lamb Biryani and incredible and should be your go to order whenever you come in.

Went with for my sister's birthday and there was about 7 of us in total. The table was pretty small for the amount of food given so we had to constantly make space. The servers, however, have excellent service and came by often to clear the dishes. They were also diligent in replacing drinks. I ordered the chicken madras mild and it wasn't very good. The coconut was more overpowering than the spices, so it was too sweet. The price for all 7 of us ran up to about $400 and there's an automatic tip if you have a party of 6 or more. Overall, I'd go again but for different menu items and with less people lol.

I don't think you'll find a better place for authentic Indian cuisine. So much flavor, so much spice! Great atmosphere, great restaurant, great everything!

Love everything about this little St Pete treasure. The staff are all amazing, the food is incredible and the setting inside is just a comfortable, enjoyable, indian retreat. Kumar always seems to be our server, his humor makes every trip enjoyable and he’s always ready to make suggestions or tweak the dish a little to give extra flavor. We visit about once a week and we’ve never had a bad experience regardless of the size of our party. You have to check it out at least once, you won’t regret it.

Seriously- the absolute best Indian Restaurant I've ever been to. Hands down- staff, service, food and everything are outstanding.

This place was recommended by a friend and they were right. The atmosphere and the service were great. The food was absolutely spot on. The flavors and spice were just right. If you’re sensitive to spice go with the mild and you’ll be fine. If you love spice, go for it!! Can’t wait to come back

Have been eating Indian food for 60 years. My recent dinner at Gateway was one of my least enjoyable. Not worth the money.

I have been to this restaurant before, my friend likes it. But after seeing the roaches in the takeout. Will never ever go back!!

Beautiful atmosphere and the food is great. I had methi gosh which is lamb with savory sauce, garlic naan and chicken 65 and Chai tea made with real cubed ginger.

Best aloo gobi I’ve had in the area.

We have been coming to this restaurant since it was located in Sarasota. Now that it’s located in St Pete we drive over an hour to come here and it is always worth it! Kumar is the absolute best! He always greets us with a smile and remembers our entire order. This is by far our favorite Indian restaurant and the food has never disappointed. 10/10!

I ordered Chiken 65 from this place and they sent me with roaches It is very serious and dangerous that the roaches have E coli and salmonella and many other harmful bacteria Utterly disgusting There is no safety hygiene that is followed I need my amount refunded Dont order or dine in front of this place again in the new year 2024 until you wanna get sick

Omg! The food is awesome. I have been searching Tampa-St pete for Indian food since we moved here 2 years ago. Finally we found Gateway to India. The onion bahji is a must try. You wont be disappointed. The chicken korma was also exceptional. And the staff is attentive, professional, and friendly.

So tasty! Great recommendations for all of us. Good vegetarian/ vegan options. Fast and friendly service and loved the decor! I got the Paneer Butter Masala and it was amazing! Sweet and spicy with a bit of tang. Garlic naan was soft and warm too. Would love to come back again and try more things!

Small portions. Small for me but good for your 15 year old daughter. Good atmosphere parking all that sure but the portions were bad. I asked for extra butter chicken and they charged me for it. I mean I guess that’s fine but the potions were so small it shoulda been free. Like if the bowl can hole 100ml of water and you put 25ml in it I assume it’s a mistake. Won’t go back. Go to tika misala in Tampa instead. You’ll be full.

Fantastic meal! The food was delicious. The wait staff is helpful, friendly and quick. The manager on duty asked us how it was and if we needed anything a couple of times. I enjoyed the decorations and the restaurant was clean and well organized.

This was my very first time eating Indian food. Never in my life did I think I would like Indian cuisine. My uncle pushed us to try something new and OMG! I am hooked! The food was AMAZING!!! I 100% would eat here again 100x over! Kumar our waiter was amazing and patient with us finding something to try. I had the chicken madras and if you like coconut it was delicious! Every single thing we tried (everyone got something different to try) was absolutely delicious. Nothing was ‘hot’ spicy, which is what I was afraid of. They will make your heat level what you desire! And the atmosphere was gorgeous! From the people to the place. I loved it! The garlic naan is living rent free in my head right now. I can’t wait to try this gem again! Give them a try. You will not regret it!

1. Highly priced when compared to the quantity and quality of INDIAN food given. 2. Too much food colors addedd even in MANGO LESSI 3. They forget to add salt in every dishes. 4. Fish curry is just fish in some tomato sauce with no salt added. Totally disappointed.

Food is average for Indian guy. Don’t get biryani here, it’s not traditional dum biryani. They should mention that in the menu. Atmosphere and serve are good and knowledgeable. Just talk to servers to see what they recommend.

Their spices are spot on 💕 My personal favorites are butter chicken, malai kofta, onion bhajii and mango lassie. The staff is friendly and attentive. I've always had a great experience here! LOVE the ambiance, especially Ganesh at the entrance :-) The owner is so nice! My go to Indian spot in Pinellas County for myself, auntie, mom and friends.

The chef/owner has figured out how to cut costs while appeasing the unknowing local audience with food quality. To sum it up, they are 'selling bronze at the price of gold.' Presentation is good, service is excellent, atmosphere is nice, only issue is food authenticity and quality. This includes the frozen vegetables, sauces, and sugar ingredients. Crafty cooking design to give decent impression to people who don't know the difference. I know the truth can hurt, but I'm now disappointed having given this restaurant multiple chances to represent the beauty of the Indian cuisine and they continue to serve mediocre food.

The food here is delicious and Kumar is the best! We will definitely be eating here again. The Kerala shrimp is a 10/10 and the curry is all amazing

Pathetic food! Ordered a take out last night. Biriyani tasted like fried rice. Vegetables in veg kadai were all frozen and undercooked. Lasooni Gobi was a joke. There were hardly 4 pieces of Gobi and looked like leftover from someone else's order. I have to admit we ordered at 9 30pm but if you can't make it just say so. No point in serving such bad food.

We just got back from Gateway to India for mother's day dinner. I have to say the service was fantastic. The food was so tasty. Everybody really enjoyed their different selections. The naan bread was amazing. I thought the price was a tad high for the portion sizes but would definitely go back.

Ordered take away. Food was really good, decent sized portions and resonant priced. We were little disappointed in the lack of spice, I wish there was an option to add spice levels similar to other Indian restaurants. Overall, good food and we’d return!

The worst staff that I have ever encountered in my life. Not only did they hide the exhuberent amount of tip added to the bill but when enquired about it started racially profilling me. Questioned by upbringing and background. I want to write more about them but coming to the food. The food was average and chicken was chewy.

Worst Experience Ever, The waiters charged a Mandatory 30$ Tip , and if you don't pay them that tip, They ask you which family do you belong to, which part of india do you belong to, making racially abuse, verbal abuse , if you are going there you have to pay 30$ even if you order is 50$ so be careful.

This merchant handed off my food to a different dasher. After waiting for 50 mins I came to know that the food will not available. And they will not prepare any food again this afternoon.

I love the food but it's pricey. I know that they had to raise them, but by the time I pay for my entrée, Naan, and drink. But the good news is that it is consistently yummy.

The outside does not look perfect but thats kind of how you know they put the focus on great food. The food here is superb and authentic as they claim, service is unparalleled and the atmosphere and decorations are great.

This is my absolute favorite Indian food restaurant (outside of NYC). Food is delicious, large menu, friendly and consistent staff. If you have not been, go you will not be disappointed. Check their hours as they do close between meal services. They do accept reservations and do take out as well.

As I write this I am quietly basking in the comfort and joy of a magically crafted meal from Gateway to India...and I just had to tell the world. I have only enjoyed amazing food from this establishment, and when we dine in wonderful service. We decided to level up on spice tonight from low to medium as I'm fighting something off and I wanted more 🔥...and for us the medium had a goooood kick. It was enough for a couple pitta-types. If you're a season spice veteran I suspect you will omit this section of my review anyway. God speed to you on your journey. We are vegetarian and treat ourselves to GWTI once every couple months. Tonight was Panek Paneer and Korma Paneer...mainly for protein, however I don't think you could make a bad choice from this menu. In fact, have some fun. Close your eyes and just order something. Let fate guide you. It's karma. To conclude: my stomach is joyful, my tastebuds still tantalized and I'm eternally grateful for this spot. Namaste

Excellent, tant la nourriture que le service. Nous sommes des habitués de mets indiens à Montréal et ce resto se compare très bien aux meilleurs. Les bhajis aux oignons sont énormes et délicieux. Nos plats de poulet au beurre et le bangain bharta l'étaient tout autant. Le poulet était tendre et pas sec avec une sauce riche et onctueuse. Les assaisonnements étaient parfaitement à point et les portions généreuses. Et que dire de la crème glacée à la mangue maison... Un délice. Tout le personnel était très attentionné, souriant et affable. Le propriétaire était présent pour s'assurer que tout était à point. Les prix étaient très raisonnables pour la qualité. Nous recommanderons certainement ce resto à tous nos amis sans aucune réserve.

Really disappointed in the food this visit. The chicken was 'hard' (not tough), the pashwari nan borderline burnt. Not sure who's doing the cooking but at $27 per person, they have to do a lot better. Every time.

Very friendly and knowledgeable service from Kumar. Lots of vegan options. As a no oil vegan my choices were more limited but they went out of their way to prepare the vegetable biryani with no oil and it was delicious.

So I've been to your restaurant several times the staff has always been very polite besides I guess the owner because he's the only one that's in regular clothes but he is very arrogant and rude and I ordered a butter chicken and they gave me a chicken tikka masala and he kept trying to tell me that it was a butter chicken and I can tell the difference between white and dark meat since I eat there often so if he's not the owner he should be fired and Kumar should be running the restaurant like he has been for the last couple years perfectly

Small eatery long wait for seating during dinner. Parking is OK the only thing is there is a putrid smell behind the restaurant that you can smell from the Parking lot. It's smells like sewage or some kind of waste . Makes you think twice about how clean the kitchen might be. 🤔 if you have eaten Indian food before then it's fine at best. The prices are higher for the small choices most of there dishes consist of rice or chicken and we know rice and chicken aren't that expensive. 🙄

Gets very busy on the weekend and limited staff. Stood at the door for 10 mins behind three other groups before being told it will be at least 30 before we could be seated. We went back two days later but earlier in the day to make sure we got a seat. The food was good but not as we expected for the price.
