Hadn't visited since the pandemic and hadn't sat in their outdoor seating yet. It has a beautiful garden like atmosphere and even though it was a hot day, it was cool enough under the gables and umbrellas. Service was amazing and as usual the food was delicious!

The food here is always great. The service was very good but we had to ask the waitress for the daily specials, she would have otherwise forgotten. The check was a little slow to come as well.

The absolute best Italian food I have ever had the pleasure of eating, this family owned establishment does everything right. If you're passing by, do not hesitate to stop.

We go to Gennaro's for special occasions. Best restaurant in the area. Very friendly atmosphere with excellent food.

Dale was our waiter and he KNOWS how to treat people and suggested some amazing dishes. The experience was amazing and perfect. Parmigiana Crusted Flounder is what I ate. OH MY GOD!!! This has been my go to pizza place for the last few years. I’ve noticed a change in quality lately. Pizza 🍕 Quality has gone UP! I don’t know if they’re using better cheese but I hope this change stays. Everyone in my family noticed and asked where I picked it up from. I guess we’ll be eating more yummy pizza!

Have only been to the former location in New Braunfels and didn’t like it. Everyone said the Canyon Lake location was MUCH better. Had the opportunity to give it a try with a large group, and wow!! Impressive!! I got the Ribeye and was enjoyable.

Hot. No music, No atmosphere. Food was mediocre. The stuffed shrimp was dangerously undercooked. Bolognese and lasagna Nona were decent. Server was rude and condescending and left off part of the order. Manager tried to avoid us and then tried to condescend as well. The rating they enjoy is likely due to lack of options in a small town. The place is a joke

It was a relatively fancy dinner (for me). We had a large party of eight for dinner; we ate outside. We shared two antipasto italiano; two people had the mussels and bruschette - they loved it. I know two of us had the fiorentina (stuffed chicken), one had the melanzane parmigiana (eggplant parmigian), two had the whole red snapper special, and I don't recall what the other three had. I believe we all finished our plates. The meal was great. Then, we shared a tiramisu, new york cheesecake, and a raspberry cheesecake.

There is something special about this restaurant. Every single time we eat here, the food is absolutely outstanding! The servers are always kind and helpful. The lobster ravioli is dangerous it is so delicious, and the lasagna is just as tasty. My only complaint is that they had a limoncello blueberry tiramisu seasonal dessert last night, and that should be on the menu every day! I actually bought an extra piece to bring home and had to have a bite for breakfast 🤣! But seriously, if you want amazing Italian food with great ambience, this is the place to go. It is too good to describe.

My family of 3 had dinner here - probably our 4th or 5th time. 3 meals, 1 appetizer, 1 dessert and 1 glass of wine (was never asked if I wanted a second) for 250! Good bread, horrible bagged salad, tasteless meals and a dry dessert. No mas. Honestly prefer Italian Garden.

Absolutely stunning views while sitting outside! The service was on point, and the food was outstanding. Around the table, we shared pastas and pizzas. My favorite was the Lasagna della Nona! The pizza was divine - crunchy flavorful crust with very fresh ingredients. So happy we were introduced to Gennaro's! We will be back once in the Hill Country again!

Beautiful location and friendly staff but I did not enjoy my food at all. The crab risotto was very bland with no flavor and the scallops were overcooked.

Wonderful place for an Italian experience near the lake. The food was affordable and delicious. The wine list included names you recognize at reasonable prices. I absolutely cleaned my plate!

Wow. So great! Service, food, atmosphere!

We made an online reservation which didn't indicate we would be outside. They made every effort to make us comfortable but between the heat and the flies, we ultimately decided to take our food to go. The staff, especially our waitress Nevaeh was great. I would suggest calling to verify you're inside and also if you're outside they provide you with more than one fan for flies.

I'm not Italian, but I think the food is very authentic.

We are from PA and staying with friends who took us to your restaurant. It was fantastic! The food was excellent.

No mention of reservations needed . After waiting for approximately 1hour and half on a wet patio, we were seated next to 15 women whom were extremely loud. I don’t think the waiter could hear us order, drinks came out wrong, I asked for no red sauce on my meal but received red sauce, the stuff chicken and rolls were burnt. The waiter had to fill the ice tea over and over because the glass was full of ice. I would not recommend this restaurant to family or friends.

It's not the best food I have ever had from an Italian restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful and very nicely decorated. The yards outside are very well kept, and everyone outside was drinking wine and having a good time. The service was extremely sub-par. Our server was very nice, but we ordered appetizers and then ordered our main dish shortly before the appetizer came out. We waited an hour for the food after we finished the appetizer. The food was on par with our request, which we both ordered steak and always medium rare. It shouldn't take an hour for medium rare steak. The table next to us sat down after we ordered drinks, and they finished their meal and left. The table was seated again, and that couple received their food before we got ours, and they left before we finished. The restaurant was almost empty by the time we finished eating. I waited another 20 minutes to get my check and handed the server my card. A large group of 10-12 came in and ordered drinks. They were served drinks before I received my card back and the complete bill, which was another 20 minutes. We were there 2 hours and 45 minutes, not including the 45-minute wait to be seated. It was quite an unpleasant experience for our first visit there, and the server we had doesn't prioritize guests very well. We were not drinking alcohol so I don't know if that plays a part in getting better service. We loved the restaurant setup and decor, but the service was miserable, and our tab was only $150 so it isn't like we ordered a massive amount of food. When the table next to you has the same server and the people at that table are served twice and left before you get your food, this is unacceptable, in my opinion. We will opt to go somewhere else in the future.

Exceptional experience. The staff was professional and personal at the same time. Although I am not a fan of Italian food, this is exceptional. I will continue to go back.

We were doing a girls weekend in Canyon Lake and decided for our first night out to go here based on the rave reviews. It was amazing and I want to come back to the area just for this restaurant!

We sat outside with a party of 12. The were able to accommodate us on a hour notice. The food was amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. Our waitress was top notch. Everything was perfect.

Such a hidden gem!! Most definitely sit outside, enjoy the greenery. Had the pleasure of having dale as our server, who was by far one of the most fantastic server/person. Sweet and gave us lots of recommendations and feel right at home.

First time in town, was recommended by a B&B owner to come down for dinner. Jessica was very hospitable and accommodating to guide us through specials and recommendations. Loved that she was personable with us and was ready with other suggestions for the -86’d items we ordered. Food was delicious and left us out of breath to finish our plates. The scenery was welcoming and peaceful on the patio. Loved this place, will be back to see Jessica and get the lasagna next visit!

Amazing dinner! Hubby had the Chef's special surf and turf, and I had the chicken rosemary ravioli. Both dishes were delicious. We then had the Tyxedo cake for dessert. It was absolute heaven! Don't come to Canyon Lake without eating here.

This restaurant served cold ravioli and the managements excuse was the staff is tired. Not to mention our waiter took our order last.

Half full and had to wait 20 minutes for them to set us. Benches are uncomfortable. Pick up the pace!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant without question. We’ve had dinner there and lunch many times. But this time we were there for a surprise party in the event venue. Food was great as always, and Service was exceptional as well. They did a great job hosting the event. A great time was had by all.

Had lunch reservations to celebrate a milestone birthday for a large group of ladies recently! Wanted to give a shout out to Stephanie for helping with the reservation! Everything was setup and ready to go when we arrived. Everything was great! Food was so good. Everyone ordered separately, so I would like to extend a special thank you to Chelsey, our server. You did a fantastic job!

This place was a pleasant surprise. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. The seafood is fresh from the Texas coast. The portions are large, just keep that in mind when ordering. Definitely a must visit when in the area.

This is a perfect spot for a date or an occasion. I love sitting outside, because of all the greenery. The atmosphere of a warm evening meal is perfect. Food is also great, especially with a nice wine choice.

Great Italian Restaurant. We love this place.

Got a recommendation from one of the owners at Guadalupe Brewing to try this place. We have made it our official italian restaurant. Other places are closer but we drive an hour to get here. Have made numerous visits and not a disappointment yet. There is a wait if you go at peak times, but I adjust my times to avoid the crowds. We dine in but usually get something to go for later. My per person price is a little high but I like the food, drinks and desserts.

My wife and I visited the place on April 7 to celebrate my birthday. We live in the Canyon Lake area and we needed to visit this much talked about site by locals. It was Sunday a day before the total eclipse and some situations could be justified, others could not. We arrived 15 minutes early and we made it known to the person in charge of reservations. Almost 50 minutes later we realized that there was no future in being seated soon and we wanted to know if we were still on the list. It took him a while to find us and he told us that the table was already there but that it needed cleaning. I think that if my wife isn't going to ask, we would still be there. The charismatic place, very stylish, with Italian establishments reminiscent of the Italian countryside. Obviously a lot of noise but good atmosphere. We wanted to order various dishes, which they no longer had, they were sold out, until the third attempt I was able to order what they did have. I asked for mineral water/sparkling water and was informed that they did not have it, obviously they brought us to the table the only option they had/common bottle of water (Several disappointments already.). My wife also tried to order trout, they offered it on the menu that they put outside before entering, and they also informed her that they didn't have it at the moment. I ordered fried calamari, horrible disappointment, the calamari was very poorly fried and tasted like plastic, served accompanied by a cold tomato sauce with a horrible taste (the disappointments add up). Until now the only thing we had enjoyed had been the bread and oil with which they welcomed us. 30 minutes later and hungry they brought us the main dish in which my wife found some hairs. At that point we were already very disappointed. We decided to finish our bottle of wine and not order dessert or anything else, we would surely end up very disappointed as well. The price is not bad. The waiter and his service were overwhelmed by the commotion and our table always looked dirty, with plates and unattended. I see the comments of many of the clients and it seems that we visited another place in another unknown dimension. Obviously, we're not coming back.

Order a 14 oz ribeye steak. Ordered it well done, got a salad with it and the bread.. I ordered it to go, I paid $48.00 dollars for the steak. I Tavel a lot and pulled over to eat. The steak had a bone in it so i used the bone so I could eat it. Bit into the steak and blood shot all over the place. Unexpectedly, had no plastic spoons to eat my salad and had three napkins. Had to use my fingers to eat the potatoes which were good. But I paid for a well done steak which I had to throw out the window. I tipped the guy &5.00 dollars. It wasn’t his fault. Buy if I pay $50.00 dollars for a steak it should be cooked the way I ordered it. Chefs should now.

Love this place. Went there for dinner. Was told a 30 minute wait however they sat us in 10 minutes. We were a party of four and one person was on a special diet and they made everything he ordered the way he wanted with no complaints. The food and service were amazing. We go there every time we are in town

Gennaro’s Trattoria has been a staple for the organization of Homes For Our Troops to take severely injured post 9/11 veterans prior to their kick off events & key ceremonies! This is because this restaurant is hands down the best Italian in the area! So many delicious options & great atmosphere. Perfect for both family gatherings & date nights. Be sure to try their specials (Halibut is incredible) & don’t forget the delicious calamari. Restaurant is great with dietary restrictions as well. Highly recommend!

Event: 39th Marital Anniversary. From the time we walked in till the time we left, the experience was amazing. The management and staff were incredibly. This was our first time there and will NOT be our last. The cuisine was excellent, and the wine list was perfect. Thank you, Gennaros, for topping off our anniversary date with special memories.

The food was phenomenal, atmosphere (inside AND out) was stunning, the service was exceptional. I was on the first date with a very special lady and lost track of time, they closed at 10p, and we didn't walk out until after 11p and NOT because they said or did something. Thank you Gennaro's and I'm hoping WE'LL be back for future first date anniversaries!

Good authentic Italian food and atmosphere for when we sat outdoors. However HIGHLY recommend reserving in advance, because if not it could be up to an hour and a half of waiting time. Some small miscommunications by the staff to who didn’t bus our table right away before we were seated, and some cats wandering around the outdoor seating area. Who didn’t really bother any patrons, just wasn’t expected. If you’re looking for a nice evening dinner in Hill Country, this is a good selection

Dale was great. He gave us advice on a dish and it turned out amazing! The place is a bit crowded with how the seating is. But will definitely be coming back if we’re in the area.

Visited this place while on vacay in Canyon Lake and we are so glad we did! The food was amazing!! Our server Ryan was great and he gave us recommendations on food and they did not disappoint! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and they have two very cool patios that make you want to sit and have a glass of wine!

Our server Ryan was spectacular, we are from Iowa so he helped us with recommended food items. Very kind , friendly and would definitely come back to have him serve us. The back patio was beautiful to sit at , very gorgeous at night! Last the food was incredible! Yum!

Great food but very noisy inside.

We have been dining here since they opened. It is the most exquisite restaurant I know!! Love every single dish. Garlic knots all entrees, triple chocolate mousse cake. Bill, Sam and the whole wait staff is superb.

Small town delight. Highly recommend reservations. Waited 1hr for a table. Told by locals to try it. The service was outstanding, no recommendations there. Food was delicious and portions were relatively small compared to Bucas, or other fine Italian dining. However it was prepared wonderfully and had a full complement of spices and flavors. The wine menu seemed to be the push when dining here, you will not find any alcohol besides wine. Not exactly a small child restaurant, mostly retired and older patrons. Price was higher than most compared to the cuisine presented and the wine price was that of an individual meal. Great for anniversary or date night but at the price point I recommend Bobs steak and chop house or Bucca de peppos.

Here’s my ONLY complaint: the recessed lighting above us was harsh. Haha that’s it. Everything else was incredible! I haven’t had service that exceptional in years. And the food was Absolutely. Delicious. And I mean seriously everything we had was awesome. I admit I wasn’t thinking this place would be all that authentic where it’s located … but it’s a GEM. Love it and can’t wait to go back 😋

Great place for Italian food great staff and atmosphere

The ambiance is amazing. Service was excellent. The oil dip is different than anything I’ve ever had. SO GOOD. And the side salad was mm-m-mmmmh But I probably wouldn’t come out of my way to come here. The main dish let me down. I ordered the usual chicken Alfredo and it was just a bit dry. The chicken was good the pasta itself was dry. I like more sauce than what was platted.

Not since my last visit to Italy have I had such delicious authentic Italian food! The atmosphere and the staff made the experience even better!! Can’t wait to go back !

We were sat within five minutes of arrival. The service from beginning to end with Ryan was quick and attentive. Wine samples were brought at no charge, salads were tailored to our liking, and the entrees were absolutely incredible. We ordered both specials, the halibut with shrimp and lobster ravioli, and t-bone lamb and tomato rigatoni. Everything was cooked and seasoned beautifully. For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse cake and gelato which was the perfect cap to our evening.

The bread, calamari and the Pollo Toscano were excellent. Heads up if you like muscles: they're cooked in salt water/brine so they are way too briney tasting for me and I LOVE good muscles.

The calamari is was well seasoned and the marinara was very tasty. The bread was fresh baked and served with oil and seasoning which was very good. The gamberi portabella was great, the stuffed shrimp was amazing. The chicken parmigiana was also very good. Make reservations so you don’t have to wait almost an hour like we did, but I’m glad we waited.

Wonderful food and experience. I highly recommend eating here if you’re in the area, definitely try the special! You won’t be disappointed!

This place has Insanely Phenomenal oven Baked pizza!!!

The atmosphere is comfortable and the service is exceptional for any occasion. Because we live locally, we often use their convenient pick-up service. I only have one complaint: when picked up instead of dining in, the portion size is significantly reduced.

Taste did not reflect value. Spent almost $200.00 on four people.

This place was killer for all the above! I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, my wife got the chix Parmigiano, and son got a chix, spinach with a garlic white sauce. We also got the calamari. There's so much I could say about all of it...chunky red sauce was fantastic, meatballs were fresh made, tender and spiced just right, the calamari was extremely tender with red sauce and fried spinach sprinkled in (yummy), and the fresh garlic rolls...😋 Can't wait to dig into the leftovers! The wait staff were excellent...reminded me of eating in the itilian restaurants in little Italy in Chicago; older men &women with impeccable manners and always checking in...attentive to every detail. The bill for all this was reasonable. The best in the area!!

This dining experience (Sun, January 28th) , despite a promising start with a courteous phone call for reservation made 2 weeks in advance, quickly turned sour. Upon arrival for my mother's birthday celebration, the hostess displayed jaw dropping rudeness, I have truly never encountered someone so rude in the customer service industry. She actively glared at me upon walking up to the host stand and rolled her eyes after asking if we had a reservation. She then overlooked our reservation details subjecting us to a 20-minute wait while unreserved parties were seated promptly. When asked if there was a problem with the table she raised her voice almost yelling that our table wasn’t ready. Despite our request for indoor seating, we were eventually led outside, (this is after we told her two times prior that my mom was sensitive to the cold and needed inside seating - as the original booking requested) only to be brought back indoors after a manager checked our reservation confirmation. The manager was very apologetic and kind but sadly her apology was overshadowed but the other staff members. The waitress (Sydney) most likely influenced by the earlier incident, neglected us throughout the night, further dampening the experience. She continuously skipped over myself and my mother for drink refills 4+ times while the others were refilled. Sadly, this disappointing encounter has made it difficult to consider returning to a restaurant we once frequented, especially for special occasions. Side note: food was amazing. Having firsthand experience in the customer service industry, I empathize with the challenges of working in a restaurant. Nevertheless, encountering unprovoked and outright rudeness from the initial point of contact in your establishment is deeply troubling.
